How to make file playable on DVD-player

Hello all,
I am new to Premiere Pro CS4. I have to make a videofile of approximately 13 minutes, which is playable on a DVD-player (type LG DV9900). The source format is 1440x1080p, and I really wish to keep this quality. There will be no sound or music whatsoever.
Could someone help me to choose the correct videoformat. I would also like to have a good fps (to assure a smooth image). The videofile has to fit onto a regular DVD (4,7GB). At this moment I have a .wmv-videofile in good quality (438mb with fps 50), but unfortunately my DVD-player won't play it.
I already tried it with .avi (Divx codec), but then the file is WAY to large.
Please help as it is quite urgent, trade fair is about to begin on monday :).
Thanks
Oliver

On a related note, would this setting be good if you wish to play the video on a DVD player with upscale capabilities?
I have a 20 minute video that was shot at 1920 X 1080. I'd like to encode the video with the highest settings that a DVD can handle. I figured a upscaling DVD player may require that the DVD be encoded in a special way - or maybe not.
Can anyone help me determine what settings I should encode my video onto a DVD?
thanks!

    Hi Robert
You have to export the individual slides from your Keynote presentation, and then import them into your DVD application.
I use DVDStudioPro - it works fine this. I'm sure iDVD will be OK.Going via QT has never worked for me.

  • How To Make File Association Changes Permenant

I'm having a problem with file associations reverting back every time I turn of my computer.
I'm using Finder "change all" function to change the file association.  It works until I turn off my computer.  Once rebooted file associations return.
It's a real hassle.  For some reason MP4 files keep getting associated with Windows media player. Everytime I try to open one, parallalels loads up windows.
    Any advise?

  • Playable on DVD Player and standalone files

Is it possible to author a DVD so its playable on a DVD player but as well have files that can be taken off (ie a folder of pictures)?
    Thank you in advance

    Yup
Add a DVD-Rom folder to the project with all the items you want (pictures etc.)
Click on the Disc in the Upper Left Blue here
    http://dvdstepbystep.com/layofland.php
And in the lower right purple area in General tab select where the items are that you want to include. Put them all in the one folder you are selecting.

  • How to make a playable DVD with menu

    Hello,

  • Making VOB Files Play on DVD Player

I am using MPEG Streamclip to create edited VOB or TS files of personal DVD recordings. I can burn these files onto a data DVD, but I can only use my computer to play them. What I need is some kind of application that I can point to all of my VOB or TS files and it would create a IFO playlist in a VIDEO_TS folder that would run on my DVD player. I hope that makes sense. Basically, I need to go from a folder full of VOB video files to a DVD that will run on a DVD Player.
    Thanks in advance!

If you still have Toast 6, please update it least to version 6.0.9. Previous Toast versions could alter audio/video sync of muxed MPEG files. Some versions of Toast may have trouble burning some MPEGs with mp2 audio -- a workaround is to demultiplex the MPEG to m2v and m1a (or aiff) with MPEG Streamclip and burn them with Toast. Toast may lose audio sync or be too picky and reject some MPEGs -- a workaround is to demultiplex the MPEG to m2v and aiff with MPEG Streamclip and burn them with Toast. Converting to "Headed" MPEG adds a special header to the MPEG file that lets you import unsupported frame sizes into Toast 6 or 7 and skip recompression. However, DVDs made from "headed" MPEG files are not guaranteed to work with all players.
Sizzle does not have encoding capabilities. Maybe it is just re-muxing the files?

    Highlight the music file>File>Get Info>
In the Get Info window, scroll down to "Open with:"
Select the player you want to open the music file. In your case it would be Quicktime.
Click the "Change All..." button if you want to "Use this application to open all documents like this.”

  • How to make duplicates of a DVD-R I made?

I have a new 24" iMac and am trying to make copies of a DVD I personally made. It's on a DVD-R disc and whenever I've tried making a burn file, or another file to copy it into from the DVD inserted in the machine it seems to be only copying an alias into the destination file. I would like to d/l this onto my hard drive so that I can burn copies as my customers order them - one of the primary reasons I upgraded from my older Mac.
When I look at the "permissions" it says I have read-only permission which simply isn't true. I understand the net-wide concern over duplicating copyrighted material but that's not the case here. I personally made this instructional DVD and had it burned by a buddy with a Windows machine, then have been making copies regularly in batches at his house. I bought the iMac so I would have a machine powerful enough to do it myself. Anyhow, when I make copies with his machine I simply pop the master in one drive and a blank DVD into another drive and hit copy and it makes me another one.
So. Clearly the problem here is that the iMac thinks I have only read-only permission. What to do?? For the record, I am the original creator of every scrap of this instructional video and I've sold nearly 50 of them already, so no funny business going on. If it matters, I also have a master in +R format but nobody's ever requested it.
    Thanks in advance,
    DougM

Unfortunately, when I followed the link it states
that will only work if the disc was made with iDVD or
    another program.
That simply means you can't use the listed method to copy a copy-protected DVD.
What the article has you do is use Apple's Disk Utility application to create a disk image as a 'master disc' that can be used with Disk Utility to make copies on a Mac. That's how it's done on a Mac.

  • How to make project across two DVDs with one DVD menu

    Hi!
I’m working on a large project (3 hours of video with about 10 chapters, over 50 pictures in a playlist, and special feature chapter) and wondering is it possible to make an project across 2 or more DVDs, but to have menu only on first one? I’d like to make an project that comes with menu only on first DVD and when you click on e.g. “special features” button, then you get the message “please insert DVD 2″
Is it possible and how to make something like that?
    Thank you!

I would have EACH DVD begin with a menu. Somebody will insert DVD 2 first no matter how you label things.
Yes, you are right! People just don't want to read, but I'm making an animated menu in AE and it'll take about 300MB (rendered in .mpg). That is what I want to avoid on other DVDs to save some space. You just gave me an idea so I'll make some small menu for other one or two DVDs with just a few informations about what DVD is inserted and what DVD you need to insert if you want to watch something else from that project. Thank you!
I just have to learn better Encore and its capabilities and limitations (if I have time )

  • How to make a self-playing DVD from FCP project of 75 minute film.

A Quicktime film has been made in Final Cut. It is about an hour and 15 minutes long. It needs to end up on a self-playing DVD.
Maybe this is a question for the FCP boards (or for DVD SP, which I don't know well): What's the approach to get this project to DVD?---having it look best on the DVD. Are there compression best practices?

Or you may be able to make a Kiosk mode DVD from a QT file / folder using iDVD. (btw ...I've done this successfully thru iDVD6 but I have not yet tried it under iDVD08):
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4764361&#4764361
Please note that this approach is the only way I know of to make a DVD (w/in iDVD) that plays by itself and with no menu whatsoever. Hence the DVD will always play in a continuous loop until you press stop or eject on the remote. Or if you prefer you can also use Roxio Toast which has a similar feature.

  • How To Keep The Controller in DVD Player From Always Launching

Everytime I launch the DVD Player, the controller is always on the desk top, and I have to manually hide it. How can I turn that function off? I looked in DVD Player preferences, and could't find anything. Just want to on/off controller manually.
    Thanks

That is the OS default feature; the best I could find is this key command: press Option-Command-C to show or hide the Controller. At least that would be easier and quicker than going to the Menu.
