How to make gift certificates

Hi all,
How do I create a gift certificate so shoppers can select amount they want to spend and then print certificate or have it emailed to them. I use godaddy as host with SSL certificate.
Where do I start? Is this a DW extension? or do you create it yourself in php? I have DWCS4.

Both PayPal and Google Checkout are stand-alone payment systems so with either one you will not need to get a separate gateway or merchant account. Google Checkout or PayPal will process the credit card and then transfer funds directly to your bank account.
To answer your question about GoDaddy's shopping cart system - what is your long term goal for this site?
Are you selling all types of different things or do you only want to sell gift certificates? Can the gift certificates be used online?

Entering "gift certificates" into the "submit a question" field produces three or four discussions, all of which report the questioner is turned away without explanation, that their current Apple ID is not currently authorized for such purchases. None of them offering any explanation on the mechanics of gift certificate purchase or how to become authorized to purchase. Most frustrating.

Once you redeem a gift through iTunes with your Apple ID, that same ID will have the credit at the Mac App Store. Hope this helps.

You could try taking it back to the store that you bought it from and ask them to activate it properly. I would like to know how to acheive Gift certificate sale.
we are setting up gift certficates as NLAG materials. And we will sell them to customers with other products. But the difference between gift certificates and the other products are -gift certificate sale is just a liability for us and it should not be recognized as sale ..which means I donot want the gift certificate value reflected on the customer account (reconciliation account). see the example postings below...a customer bought 100$ goods and 25$ gift certificate. I want the system to make GL postings like in desired posting section...Can anyone tell me how I can acheive this functionality

Debit Gift certificate clearing account 25$ (B/S account)

Thanks for the reply. I can create a new account key and assign gift certificate liability account in VKOA . But where can I assign the offsetting account?. My problem is this "I do not want to record this sale on customer account at the time gift certificate sale". I only want to record the sale on customer at the time of gift certificate redemption. I do not want to double count the gift certificate sale on the customer account (FD10N).The above example which I provided was a gift certificate sale.and I want to debit "gift certificate offsetting account" in the place of customer account.

Unless you are also in France with a French iTunes account then he won't be able to redeem it, they are country-specific. OK, I see what point you were trying to make previously. You are talking about the misspelling of the name. That was SO not clear in your post. As you can tell, both roamminggnome and I missed your intent.
If you want to educate people on the common misspelling of the country Colombia, then state your case clearly. You will get a lot further that way. Being condescending about the mistake is not productive, and you won't achieve your goal that way.
That having been said, it seems a bit pointless to bring up a two year old post that has a spelling error in it and then post to it only to call out that error.
This is not an English course - it is a technical user to user forum. We have to put up with egregious spelling errors daily on this site. It is not the place to start a campaign on the proper spelling of the country Colombia. You might want to try to direct that considerable indignation somewhere where it will actually make a difference.
Sorry for the misspelling in my post of the country. I can promise you, I won't make that mistake again.

You must redeem the code on the gift certificate. Open the Mac App Store. Make sure that you are signed into your account (Store menu.) Click the Redeem link in the Quick Links on the Featured pane. Follow the on screen instructions.
Only after you have redeemed the certificate may you buy something with the credit.
UPDATE - I have been trying to offer you a screenshot for the last 5 minutes, but the stupid forum software won't accept one right now. Sorry about that.

Having Apple transfer a somehow equivalent sum to my country is just as good, and doesn't involve any music industry company.
Yes it does because when you purchase a gift card, the money goes to the music industry.
Send them an email and let them know you would like it changed.

How to generate multiple "gift certificate" pdfs with unique serial #s

I am a new Acrobat user (have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro) and poked around a bit to see if I could find out how to do this, but found nothing.
I assume this has been done before and hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Here's what I am trying to do:
1. I currently have a pdf doc with a field for a unique serial # (let's call the doc a "Gift Certificate" for simplicity, though that's not quite what it is).
2. I want to generate multiple pdf files, say 100 of them, based on this original Gift Certificate, but with each one having a unique serial # in the appropriate field, say starting at ser # 1001, and running through to ser # 1100.
3. I want to be able to save each of these new files on a hard drive - not outputting them to a printer (though this might come in handy in the future too).
Is this something I can do in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9? I looked at the Batch Processing tool, but that didn't seem to have any ability to create new files.
Or do I need a plug-in? Or a separate software altogether?
Any help for this novice would be greatly appreciated.

It works perfectly right out of the box. Great stuff!!!

Find the song in the iTunes Store and gift it!
I just did that successfully with a song I previously bought, and it works just fine:
Just click the down facing arrow to the right of "Play".
