How to make hyperlinks in PDF doc open in a seperate PDF window?

I created a "Main" PDF document and have various attachments in it including PDF. I created them with Insert, Hyperlink.  That works, however, if I have the main document open in PDF, and I click on one of the hyperlinks to open a PDF document, the main document is closed and the only window remaining open is that of the hyperlink I've accessed.
I want to change this to have the PDF hyperlink within main document  open in its on window ...can this be done?

Thanks for the reply, but I have Adobe Reader 9 Pro. Will it still not
work ?

  • How to make menu/list (form) item open in it's own window instead of blank one?

    Items in a form (list/menu) that I've created are opening in a blank window (pop-up) when clicked. I would like them to open in "self" mode so that pop up blockers on various computers don't become a challenge for site visitors. Can anyone please tell me how I could make that adjustment using Dreamweaver? I am a novice (if that) in coding, so if there is a design view solution that would be absolutely awesome. Any assistance to get me on the right track would be GREATLY appreciated!! BTW I also made the form a library item (just in case that fact is needed). Also if you need to see the actual link it is
    http://www.graphicmechanic.com/DEKALBCOUNTY/index.html. The "I WANT TO" list is the part I'm referring to.
    I am also attaching 3 files (the .lbi file, the template and the page both are applied to).
    I tried a couple of things already. One was javascript, but I still seemed to have problems, the others were selecting the form and changing the target to self. Another developer said that I would need to apply the target attribute to each link, but I am having trouble doing this.

    No.  They removed that functionality as an improvement to iTunes in version 11.    I saw one person mentioning making a screen grab of the window and displaying it as an image in Preview while looking at the actual iTunes in another window, but it doesn't quite strike me as being the same...

    How to make Adobe as your default viewer for all your PDF file instead of the Preview given? Thanks

    you need to "Get Info" on the file first. Select it, right click and select 'Get Info' in the menu.
    In the window that pops up, near the bottom, the "Open With" drop down menu needs changed. If the drop down menu does not present the one you want, select "Other" and find it.

  • How to make hyperlinks in JTextField/JtextArea  ??

    My JTextField/JtextArea has got this Text.
    String text = "Get information from http://www.hotmail.com, if you have problems go to http://www.google.com " ;
    How to make hyperlinks for http://www.hotmail.com and http://www.google.com texts only???
    And how to call those sites???

    Add a mouse listener, when the user double clicks - see if they've clicked on text that is a valid link.
    The limitation of using textfield or textarea is that you get no styling. I dont know why you're refusing those suggestions, but you're just creating more work for yourself.

  • Why do my .pdf docs open in MS Word?

    My.pdf docs open in MS Word instead of Adobe Reader.

    Now I get a pop-up that says, “Adobe Reader could not open (name of file) because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn’t correctly decoded).”  These files opened OK before.  What gives?

    If you have both programs installed you can choose which one acts as the default by opening Preferences (in either of them) and on the General tab, click the "Set default PDF handler" button.

  • How to make a simple JPEG flash light to dark on PDF?

    Hello all. Thank you for reading this.
    Please have a look at this online magazine:
    http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/1d272263#/1d272263/1
    Notice how the "Click Here To Read" is flashing?
    Well I'm wondering how do I create that effect? I'm sure it can't be as confusing as I'm trying to learn. Basically I'm creating a online magazine, and I want a JPG/PNG File to flash from dark to light. Is this an effect I add on Adobe InDesign before I convert my (rather large 1,500 page) magazine to a PDF? Or do I open this in Adobe Acrobat X as a PDF and tweak some setting there?
    Or does this file have to be converted to a Shock-wave Flash file? Because I have NO EXPERIENCE in flash files, they seem so confusing.
    Please help if you can!

    just export the page logo flashing to (SWF) than place again on indesign document to export with remaining pages to PDF.
    Hello, thank you for your help. When I place the swf file onto the correct InDesign page, I upload it onto the page viewer online, but I see that rather large Flash icon. If you click on the image below you'll be able to see it. I've print screened it.

    Am I exporting it incorrectly? I've exported it as a interactive PDF.
    EDIT: I may be confusing you, but this is my general process. I create a magazine. Export it as a PDF, and upload it on a pdf internet viewer called FlipViewer.
    But now, some clients want certain pages/logos etc flashing. So now I need to figure out (for the next magazine that will be uploaded soon), how to make certain logos/badges etc flash. So when I follow your instructions, I upload it as a PDF, then when I open that PDF, I get that flash icon that says "...click to activate", when I click that, then the SWF effects appear over the document. But when I upload that PDF document to FlipViewer, it just appears as a unclickable link. And other magazines that have been uploaded on flipviwer has flashing logos, automatically when you open up the document. What am I doing incorrectly?
    Thank you so much for your help!

    Which Mac do you have?
    Which operating system is it running?
    You posted in Mac OS X Lion 10.7 forum but you profile claims you have an eMac with a PowerPC and it is running 10.3.4.
    Please straighten this out because they are two totally different computer and operating systems.

  • InDesign to swf--can you make hyperlinks that don't open a new window?

    I am exporting an InDesign document to swf with interactive hyperlinks placed on an existing webpage. My problem is if you click on a hyperlink a new webpage opens up. Can I make the hyperlink work so that clicking on the link does not open up a new tab or window, but changes the page within the current window?

    I have tried that too and it didn´t work out. Attribute that controls where you open your hyperlink is called Target. And InDesign doesn´t let you define it. Let´s hope some improvement with this in future...

    Every time I try to open a PDF doc it automatically tries to open in Word.  I have to save doc on desk top and then open it as a PDF which is very time consuming and HUGELY annoying!  Can anyone help please?  I have tried unloading and reloading Adobe Reader several times but with no joy.

    Hello DoonieM,
    It seems there are file association problem with PDF on your machine. Please set Adobe Reader as default application for PDF viewer to view the PDF file in Reader instead of Word.

  • How to download and convert RTF/DOC file in DMS into PDF file

    Hello.
    We're on ECC6.0. We have a requirement to get the *.doc or *.rtf file checked in DMS, convert it to pdf format and download it as *.pdf file. The document data is stored in DRAO-ORBLK (LRAW data type). Has anyone programmatically done this? What is the process to achieve this? I've read in the forum that you should first convert RTF(.doc) data to OTF format using CONVERT_RTF_TO_ITF and then you will get the script format from rtf data. Generate the spool using the script data. Convert the spool to PDF using CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF. However, the fm CONVERT_RTF_TO_ITF uses RAW data type. There's also fm CONVERT_OTF_2_PDF but I don't know how to implement this for my purpose.
    Also, if Adobe Distiller is installed on the SAP application server, can it be used from an ABAP pgm?
    Thanks in advance for your inputs.

    Hi Maria,
    I realize this a rather old post, but was wondering if you managed to do this as I am having a similar requirement. Appreciate if you could share any solution or findings.
    Thanks,

  • How do I block an ad that opens up a new Firefox window and keeps telling me my system performance is poor? I can't even capture the link.

    This particular ad, supposedly from a Windows Certified Partner, opens in a second Firefox window and keeps flashing the message that my System Performance is Poor, wanting me to click on their ad and let them do whatever nasty things they want to my system. I have not been able to capture the path but next time it comes up, I will write down all that I can see.
    If I have closed my main Firefox screen first, and then close out this ad, the next time I open Firefox, the ad opens and all my standard tabs are gone, requiring me to reopen each one seperately (Facebook, Google, etc).

    Just to address the last point: check your History menu to see whether you have the Restore Previous Session option and use that if you can. If that is grayed out or doesn't restore everything, check the Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs lists for other pages.
    The unwanted window may be generated by an add-on. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
    Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    Here are some other things to check:
    (1) user.js file that changes Firefox startup behavior and overrides your preferences. This article describes how to track that down and delete it if you have one: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    (2) Possible hijacked shortcut. Check the "target" of the desktop icon you use to start Firefox to see whether it lists the unwanted page. To do that:
    right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab
    For 64-bit Windows 7, the Target should be no more and no less than this:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
    (3) Possible undisclosed bundle items. If you have installed any free software recently, check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program for surprises. If you click the "Installed on" column head to group by date, it is easier to spot bundled junk. Remove everything suspicious or unrecognized.
    (4) Supplemental clean up scans. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
    Hopefully that cures it.

  • Forcing link in one web based PDF to open link to another PDF in new browser window

    We have created a form using LiveCycle Designer ES2.  The form is found on our website and is used by faculty to submit proposal information to our office.  Depending upon the answers to questions in the form if they say yes we had a link to another form that we would like them to complete and submit with the original PDF that they are working on.  The problem that we are having is that when they click on the form it opens the new PDF and all the data that they had entered in the original PDF is gone once the new form opens up.  Is there a way to force the new PDF via the use of some scripting that can go along with the link, or via the use of a button that can force the new form to open in a new browser window?  It is impractical for us to expect 1500 faculty members to change their browser settings to open new PDF's in a new window.  We have removed the links for now and have just put in text that says if they select yes they need to go out and complete the additional form.
    The form we are using can be found here: http://spo.usu.edu/files/uploads/SP-01.pdf
    The first three questions on page two where we reference the other forms is where we would like to be able to add the links to the new forms and have them open in a new browser window.  When the form is downloaded and opened in Adobe Acrobat/Reader the links functioned correctly, it just did not function properly when it opens in a browser.
    Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer in regards to this issue.

    I used a button, removed the border/fill properties and underlined the caption to look like a URL.
    The click event is...
    // form1.page1.subform1.urlBtn::click - (JavaScript, client)
    app.launchURL("http://spo.usu.edu/files/uploads/SP-01.pdf",true);
    The PDF will open in a new window or tab, depending upon the browser configuration.

  • How can I make hyperlinks work in InCopy when I export to PDF without using InDesign?

    I created an InCopy document with hyperlinks linking to other InCopy documents. When I exported to PDF, these hyperlinks don't work. Is there any way I can make these hyperlinks work without using InDesign? Thanks.

    beer and no prepress schrieb:
    If it's for the web, why not export to JPEG?  Why PDF?
    Terrible idea. In a JPG the text will not be alive, you loose all interactivity.
    And making JPGs with InDesign is not what the program is meant to make.
