How to make iMac running Os 10.7.5. like Mountain Lion ?
I have been using an up-to-date mountain lion on a MacBook Pro for some time.
Just purchased a secondhand iMac late 2006 running OS 10.7.5.
I had hoped to be able to download mountain lion onto this so that both worked in the same way.
However I checked with Apple technical support who says this is not a good idea as it is not supported.
What does this mean and what would be the likely problems if I tried?
Here are Mountain Lions Tech Specs.
As you can see only iMacs from mid 2007 or newer can run it. Basically if you tried to install the OS on your iMac it will refuse to do it as the hardware can't support it.

I have downloaded OS X Mountain Lion from the App Store. It took two hours to download but now its not running and I have no idea how to make it run!
Download was complete and I accepted everything and restarted computer but its still running 10.7.5
Any idea how to get OS X Mountain Lion to run?What you donwloaded was the OS installer. You still have to do the installation.
To get started, double click on the download, then double click again and follow instructions. -

How to make an user into Service authenticated user like cmadmin_service
Hi All,
I am trying to fetch the list of documents, properties, log on/logoff functionality with an iUser ex: epuser, through java code.
The list of docs are presented in the Documents Folder with teh following sample code
|
RID rid = RID.getRID("/documents");
String userName = "epuser";
IUserFactory userFactory = UMFactory.getUserFactory();
com.sap.security.api.IUser userNew;
userNew = userFactory.getUser(userName);
com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser user = WPUMFactory.getUserFactory().getEP5User(userNew);
ctx.setUser(user);
IResource res = null;
res = ResourceFactory.getInstance().getResource(rid, ctx);
wnen i am trying to fetch all the docs and the corresponding properties by passing " cmadmin_service " as an user name. i am getting the right results. But when i tried with "epuser " i am getting the output as Service Authentication value false.
Then i added epuser in the System Principal--->System User. still i am not getting the right results.
plz help me how to make this epuser as service authenticated user like cmadmin_service userHi phani,
I have no direct solution but you should check the service permissions of the resources you are trying to fetch. The exception sounds like there is the problem. Go to the Details of the CM-Resource and Select Settings-->Service Permissions.
Does the epuser has the necessary permissions for your operations?
Another thing is the way you are creating users:
The WPUMFactory has a special factory-method for creating service users. Perhaps this is a better aproach:
WPUMFactory.getServiceUserFactory().getServiceUser(user);

How can I make my first generation AirPort Express work with Mountain Lion? I have a 13" MacBook Pro (non-retina).
Hi guys, recently had the same issue. You require an older version of Airport Utility to configure the older Airport Express. It can be found here.

i keep getting "an error occurred when installing, please run program again" for OS X mountain lion, how can i fix the problem?
The Reset feature adds a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data. I recommend hanging onto that for a few weeks in case you discover something essential that the Reset feature left behind.
This article has a list of what is migrated and what is not during a Reset, in case you're curious: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]. -

HT4561 how to upgrade operating system from 10.5.8 to mountain lion
How do upgrade my I MAC from MAC OS X ro Mountain lion?
To upgrade from OS X 10.5.8, you must first buy Snow Leopard by calling the phone number in the Apple Online Store: 800-MY-APPLE (in the US)
Make sure your system meets Snow Leopard's requirements:
Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" System Requirements
To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with:
An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
After you install Snow Leopard you can decide if you want to upgrade OS X to the latest version, Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store, which is available to you after upgrading to Snow Leopard.
Make sure your system meets the requirements for Mountain Lion:
Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" System Requirements
To install Mountain Lion, you need one of these Macs:
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (RAM)
8 GB or more of available hard disk space
If your system does not support Mountain Lion's requirements, you may be able to upgrade to Lion. To do that you must call Apple again to order a download code. Redeem the download code in the App Store to download Lion. Lion costs 99¢ more than Snow Leopard.
Make sure your system meets the requirements for Lion:
Mac OS X 10.7 "Lion" System Requirements
Mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon CPU
Core Duo CPUs are not sufficient for Lion
2GB of memory (RAM)
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
To determine which Mac you have, what kind of CPU it uses, and how much memory is installed: > About this Mac
The specified 2 GB minimum is barely adequate for either Lion or ML. They will run in 2 GB but you may not like its performance. 4 GB is a more realistic minimum. -

I have Mac OS X 10.5.8. How do I upgrade to Snow Leopard to upgrade to Mountain Lion?
Your machine is likely too dated to run 10.8 at all , or if it does will run slow.
It won't run your PPC based software or hardware drives for external hardware.
10.6 will run your PPC software and likely is best for that machine performance speaking, Software Update to 10.6.8 and stay there.
You better do your research first.
Things to consider before upgrading OS X

Is there a plug or something in to make my 2007 macbook pro able to install Mountain Lion?

No. The architechture is too old. I think Lion will be as far as you can go, as a guess without knowing your specs. But if the machine cannot run Mountain Lion then there is no way of doing it (short of replacing the mechanics which would be more expensive than buying a more up to date Mac)

How do I install custom printer profiles in Mac os mountain lion. I can't find the icc profiles directory (if that's what it is).
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. You'll need to do it again after each system update that's applied.

I am running leopard, can i upgrade to mountain lion?
I am running leopard, can I upgrade to mountain lion?
Going by your profile: iMac (20-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.8) your Mac does qualify for Mountain Lion. See Step 1 here > Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
But you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first before upgrading to Mountain Lion. It's not necessary to upgrade to Lion first.
Snow Leopard is no longer available from the Apple online store. You can purchase Snow Leopard by calling the Apple Store at 1-800-MY-APPLE.
