How to make it not show Finder window when system starts up?

The subject is the question....a Finder window is always open when system first starts up and how do I make it show and not show? Thanks.

He fixed it by changing his wallpaper settings....(lol, copied and pasted from my post in another thread) might not be the same fix as what you need, but heck, why not try, right?

I solved the problem...
This issue was only seen on a Secondary User of this Machine.
A couple weeks ago I wanted to place some files in this Users folders so I gave the Primary User Read & Write Privileges.
I removed these privileges and the problem went away - I was able topull up the finder window and attach files (thsi als osolved another issue I had with Safari https://discussions.apple.com/message/19175220#19175220)
My lesson learned is to use the Shared folder.

How to make emoticons not show as letter j?

Since I installed Mountain Lion (uses Mail 6.0), I've noticed lots of emails showing the letter j at the end of a sentence. I asked a few of the people who sent me those, and they all thought that they had sent me smiling faces or some other type of emoticon. Any way to get this back?

How to make emails not show up in the inbox?

I am getting A LOT of emails (automaticly) from a forum thread that im getting updates from, and its totally spamming my inbox.
Is it possible to automatically redirect those emails from the specific sender FROM the inbox and into a separate inbox/folder?

actually the best would be to indeed change some settings on the forum but if you can't you can swipe to the left on the email, tap More and mark it is an advertisement.

When I am developing a chat application in AWT. The problem is the when the message is received into a window, think that the concerned window is minimised or inactive then how to get the blinkable focus on the taskbar to concerned window to get user attractin towards it.
What I think is , it iw OS level so it is not possible through AWT. Am I correct?

You can do it with Frames (if you AWT) or JFrames (if you can use swing) by having an animator thread that changes the icon of the task once a second or so. It will appear to be blinking.
just alternate calls to something like this:
jframe.setIconImage(normalImage);and

Thanks very much for your help, but I'm still overlooking something. I double checked to make sure that I did not have a hidden .txt file extention. I then decided to abandon the lock on preferences idea until I get it working. I converted my mozilla.cfg file back to plain text. I made sure I do not have an extra blank line at the end of each file. The syntax looks good, as far as I can tell. I'll copy and paste what I have so far. Did I have the file locations correct posted above? Also, if you feel i can delete some lines of text in my mozilla.cfg file I'll be happy to do so.

I have a significant number of files in my Macbook Air. A lot of them are research papers and medical literature.
About a month ago I updated the operating system from snow Leopard to mountain Lion and I had no reasons to complain except a smaller battery time.
Since then I installed every OS update.
After the last update, a few days ago, Spotlight does not open a finder window when i choose Show all in finder menu.
Spotlight continues to work properly if I write a name or expression in spotlight in a finder window but not in the upper left corner at the menu bar
As this been described yet?

I had the same problem yesterday after performing a clean install of Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on my MacBook Pro.
I resolved the problem by booting from the Mountain Lion Recovery Partition and then running Disk Utilty (Repair) for the primary disk on which Mountain Lion is installed. It identified (and repaired) many permissions issues...
When I rebooted following the repair, Spotlight worked again properly -- including the "Show All in Finder" function.

Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

How do I uninstall photoshop elements 6 (windows) when there is not option in add-remove programs. I have looked on my hard drive extensively for a library or utility folder that would have an uninstall program, nothing. I want to install Elements 9, but have found out that Elements 9 does not remove Elements 6, so I want to remove elements 6 first.

Strange that PSE6 does not show up via the control pane.
I wouldn’t worry about uninstalling it. The two versions sit happily side by side and PSE6 takes up hardly any file space compared with PSE9.

Thank you for your advice. I followed your directions, but came up with the same results. However, I did discover that whenever I open up the iPhoto Library that is already existing on my MacBook a certain set of pictures shows up. But then when I open up the iPhoto Library from the Hard drive another set of pictures shows up. BUT not ALL of my pictures are showing up on the iPhoto Library from the hard drive. At least the last two years of pictures are not showing up?! Actually, it appears that all the pictures are there from when I started using iPhoto about 5 years ago up until around the time that I got my iMac desktop computer and started using that (2 years ago). I have noticed that more recent videos I have made are showing up in a folder on the hard drive, but will not appear when I open up iMovie?! Hi all. I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues. Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem. …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive. Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab. Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
Open the Users folder.
Open your user folder
Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco. The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”. Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear. Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
