    How can I find math symbols in Pages?
    Do I need additional Software or is there a possibility as in Microsoft Word?

    You can find some math symbols in Pages if you go to Special Characters. Open Pages, go to Edit menu (on the menu bar) > Special Characters, and choose math symbols in the sidebar, so you will be able to add a symbol double-clicking the symbol.
    However, it may not include all symbols. In this case, you will have to use other third-party applications

    Hello Globalmark
    For your problem dealing only with Skype, Skype supports their product with a comprehensive Help system for answers to your Skype-specific questions.
    If you cannot find the answer you need from their Knowledgebase, Troubleshooter, User Guides, or dedicated Skype-user forum, you can get technical support directly from Skype.
    MSN (now Microsoft) Messenger for Mac cannot use ANY camera unless you are using the "corporate" version. The personal version is a text only app.
    This post will give you the options available to you for using your MacBook Pro to contact those whose only chat client application is MSN (now Microsoft) Messenger.
    Your posted system info shows that you are still using Mac OS X (10.5.1). If that is correct, you may want to consider the advantages of updating to the latest version of Leopard.

  • How to use math symbols in a right to left text properly?

    Hey there
    When I write a simple mathematical equation or a number(which has sign) in the middle of a right to left text in a text box(I simply set keyboard language to EN for typing expressions & numbers) it's like mathematical symbols are somehow not considered math symbols and that's weird since in word it's not that way, take the following sentence for example that means result of the 0-127 expression is -127:
    حاصل عبارت 127-0 برابر 127- است.
    In word I can type it just fine(for typing expressions and numbers I set keyboard language to EN) but when I type it the same way in adobe acrobat I get this:
    حاصل عبارت 0-127 برابر -127 است.
    copy & paste from word also doesn't do any help, so If I want to get it right I should type math expressions from right to left meaning as instance to type 0-127 I should first type 127 then - and finally 0 also should type digits of a number before typing its sign as example for typing -127 I should first type 127 then - ,now I wonder is it the way acrobat works or I'm doing something wrong.
    By the way OMG o_O even when I did copy & paste my messasge from word to the text box of forum for posting, it ended up treating math parts in upper right to left paragraph the same way as acrobat  I just had to write them from right to left!
    Anyone has any idea?
    Message was edited by: Pooria

    In a word document I wrote:
    حاصل عبارت 127-0 برابر 127- اسـت
    Then tried printing it using "Adobe PDF" printer, in output pdf that sentence was written in right order and interestingly it was broken into three text boxes   thanks for reply.

  • How to give ( u00F7 ) symbol in content conversion.

    Hi Experts,
    I need to use division symbol as field separator/delimiter  in XI content conversion. Could nay one help me to find an option to do this?
    I need the ( ÷ ) symbol in the target side payload, can any one suggest how to do it..?
    Heres how you can get division sign:
    From my computer go to   Start->All Programs->Acessories->System Tools->Character Map.  From there you can select the divisor sign ( ÷ ) and copy it and use it.
    i found the symbol but could not able to copy that symbol, so any other views are thoughts.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Venkat,
    I just copied from your question only and pasted in content conversion parameters. I am just wondering whether we are on the same page or not. I have uploaded the same here:

    If it is the same you want then a simple copy and paste have worked for me. I am on PI7.0.

  • How to make the symbol to be resolved within the shared library ?

    I have two definitions of a symbol, one is in the main code, the other in a shared library. I want the symbol to be resolved within the shared library if it needed in the shared library.
    From the 'C++ Users Guide', use the option '-Bsymbolic' to build the shared library is a choice. But it also said 'Never use -Bsymbolic with programs containing C++ code, use linker map files instead. So I have to try to use the map file, but I did not get more useful information from 'Linker and Libraries Guide'.
    I want to know what should be included in the map file and how to generate the map file?
    Additionally, from the 'Linker and Libraries Guide', the 'Direct Binding' also could resolve this problem. And I tried to build the shared library by the '-B direct' option, it works.
    Could anybody tell me what's the difference between the '-Bsymbolic' and '-B direct'?
    Any comments are appreciated.

    You didn't provide fun.h, and you didn't show all the commands that you must have used -- there are no commands that compile the source code into .o files. So I can't tell why the -xldscope option didn't work for you.
    Problems and errors that I see in your example:
    Functions func and swap are referenced from C code, but swap and one of the func functions are compiled by the C++ compiler and will get mangled names. If you compile a function with the C++ compiler that is to be called from C code, you need to declare the function as extern "C". But the extern "C" in a shared header needs to be guarded by +#ifdef __cplusplus+, since a C compiler won't understand the declaration.
    When you build a shared library, you must explicitly list the libraries it depends on, since no dependencies are created by default. For a C++ library, you need at least -lCrun -lc in that order. Otherwise, in a real-world program you can have program failures due to incorrect library initialization order. To be sure you have listed all needed libraries, use the -zdefs option, which causes the linker to complain about missing definitions.
    To be sure the shared library is picked up at run time, provide a RUNPATH via the -R option when you build the executable.
    The -xldscope option must appear on compile commands for the files where you want it to take effect. It has no effect on a link command, because the option affects how code is generated.
    Here is my rewrite:
    % cat fun.h
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C"
    #endif
    void func();
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C"
    #endif
    void swap();
    % cat fun.c
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include "fun.h"
    extern "C" void func()
        printf("func in the shared lib\n");
    extern "C" void swap()
        func();
    % cat fun_in.c
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include "fun.h"
    void func()
        printf("func in the main code\n");
    % cat main.c
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include "fun.h"
    int main()
        func();
        printf("invoke the swap:\n");
        swap();
    % CC -G -xldscope=symbolic fun.c -Kpic -o liboutside.so -lCrun -lc -zdefs
    % cc -o run main.c fun_in.c -L. -loutside -R .
    % ./run
    func in the main code
    invoke the swap:
    func in the shared libAs you can see, it works as advertised.
    Please note that the -xldscope option affects all functions in the module. If you need more fine-grained control, you must add declarations to the source code, or use a mapfile instead of -xldscope .

  • How to make a symbol on a 3d object scale without moving?

    I created a 3d apple and made a symbol of a state map that I mapped onto the apple like a highlight.- When I scale the whole object down, the symbol scales somewhat, but slides up the apple and doesn't stay in place. it ends up off the top ot the apple. How do I get it to stay in place and scale down with the apple? Thanks in advance.

    Steve's response is hard to understand the proper wayto scale an object tha has an effect applied is how I suggested as it keeps the effect alive as thye entire concept of effects is all about keeping the orginal art intact so it can more easily be tweaked and manipulated and gives you far more options.
    I find it very hard to understand his defense of his post and method which is only done in rare instances since it is usually not necessary.
    The power of the method I describe is that you can have more than one transfrom applied at the same time turning the desired one on while the others are turned off so you have seveal sizes for the same position without multiple copies bloating your document. You might not need that but it is good to be able to do so.
    Also when you expand a 3D object you will have a lot of points defining the object far more than needed, which you will not be able to delete without altering the object.

    Hi
    You will need an 3rd party tool to get more space on the D partition.
    For example a partitions magic is a nice software which helps to decrease the C partition and add the free space to other partitions.
    Generally speaking the partitions are managed in Disk Management of the Windows OS.
    You can find it here:
    Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management ->Storage -> Disk Management.
    There you can create new partition or change the size of partitions.
    But dont change anything before you didnt create a recovery disk because the recover disk is needed to set the notebook back to factory settings in case something would go wrong.

  • Can you record a skype conversation with logic pro 9? if so how?, can you record a skype conversation with logic pro 9? if so how?

    I am doing a podcast and very new with logic as a recording program is there a way to record through logic a skype or phone call?

    Search Google using:
    record skype mac
    Using Logic for this is way overkill, there's several free apps that could've done the job just as well.
    Good luck.

  • How to insert a math symbol in a pages document

    I have a nonstandard math symbol to insert inot a pages document. Please explain how to do it.

    If it is really non-standard, like not in Unicode, then you would have to use an image.  For things in Unicode, try an app like Cymbol or search the app store for "equation".

    Dear Readers,
    Please be advised that this software is not tested by Skype, and is not in any way a Skype-affiliated app; therefore, you need to be very careful using it.

  • FrameMaker 11 not displaying some math symbols-how to correct or work around?

    Hello,
    I created a few equations for a manual, and everything displayed correctly. After I was upgraded to a new computer (same OS - Win 7), all the minus signs in the equations I made aren't displaying—all I get are (?)s.
    I've tried creating a new equation, but the minus symbol still isn't displaying. Strange to me that it's only the minus symbol not displaying; all other operators display correctly.
    I'm wondering if this is a symbol font issue, or a unicode issue, but after searching the forums all morning (and all afternoon yesterday) I haven't found any information on correcting the issue or working around it.
    *Update*
    I had a coworker open the file in question, and the minus symbols all displayed correctly. He is running Frame 11 on XP.
    -Ben

    The font used for the math symbols is specified in the maker.ini with the MathFamily=Symbol entry in the [Fonts] section.
    I've tried playing around with changing this in FM11 and FM12, but I always get the minus sign to appear in both versions. [There is a minor bug in FM12 no longer supporting the backslash sequences, so I was checking if other things were pooched.]
    The math characters, on the other hand, are defined in the fminit\mathchar.cfg file, e.g.
      < alpha      61 Symbol Regular>
      < beta      62 Symbol Regular>
      < plus      2b Times Regular>
      < equal      3d Times Regular>
      < minus      d0 Times Regular>
    etc.
    Notice that there is a mix of Font Families specified in the cfg file. It could be that if Times is missing and FM doesn't properly substitute proprly, one may get the unknown character.
    Try changing the font definitions in the mathchar.cfg file (and make a back-up so that it can be restored if this gets messed up).
