How to make more room on my computer

my computer says i have a capacity of 152.55 GB
i have 38.24 GB available
and i used 114.3 GB
my problem is that i don't see how i used 114.3 GB
my music folder is 35.61 GB
and my photo folder is 10.01 GB
ive done through and deleted as much as i could
i dont now why it says i have used 114 GB when i can only find 45 GB any solutions?

Nice gui to see where space is used. shareware but you don't need to buy, and can still open folders and file in Finder.
A lot of times things end up in "/Volumes" - data, when a drive didn't mount properly and end up with "mydrive" and "mydrive1" in there instead.

If this isn't a boot drive though that is unlikely. No P2P that dumped 40GB into hidden folder...

  • How to make more room on Time Machine drive?

I'm starting to get messages that my backup failed because there's not enough space on my drive... how can I increase space? I know I can't delete individual Time Machine files but I also tried deleting several files on my actual drive so hopefully TM would delete them from the back drive but that didn't work either.

    Try downloading omnidiscsweeper
    http://www.omnigroup.com/products/omnidisksweeper/
and check to see that are no large folders of files that you do not know about on your computer. Normally it will be Pics, Music or Movies.
If everyfile is required then you may well have to physically back a lot of it up to an external drive. You need a minimum of 15% free disc space to operate at a reasonable rate.

  • How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?

How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?  It says I don't have enough room to upgrade so I have deleted some of everything but do not see an improvement in my storage space. Help?

    No need to empty anything.
You can update by connecting your phone to iTunes on your computer. This way you bypass the space limitations.

Also would like to know if the toolbar can be put on the same line to make more room on the page (drag & drop) ?? Like the menu & bookmarks toolbar could/should fit on same line. This would add more page view...

    Thanks

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button
You can only move the content from a toolbar onto other toolbars if all toolbars support that feature. You need to check that in the options of each toolbar.

Why are you SHOUTING in the worst font ever invented?
    Apps aren't stored in iCloud.
Are you trying to clear space in iCloud (which is stored on the internet, not in your iPad), or are you trying to clear some space in the internal storage of your iPad?

  • How can I make more room on my ipod to put more songs on it

My ipod is running out of room to put more songs on it and I have a 4GB ipod and I only have 488 songs. How can I make more room on my ipod fore more songs?

Delete other content from it or restore it. Note that if the songs are encoded at a bitrate higher than 128Kbps or longer than 4 minutes, the iPod won't hold as many as advertised.

  • How can i make more room on my 6-year old MacBook Pro?

How can I make more room on my 6-year old MacBook Pro? I already have an external hard drive.

    Two options:
Delete files from your Home folder you no longer use or need (but do not delete anything from the /Home/Library/ folder.)
Buy and install a larger hard drive. You can find suitable drives at OWC. You would need a 2.5" notebook drive that is SATA II or SATA I compatible - 1.5 or 3.0 Gb/s.

  • My time machine says it need more room to complete back up, how do i make more room? up

My time machine says it need more room to complete back up, how do i make more room?

    Delete the old backups..
There is a reason though for this to happen. Tell us what model Time Capsule you are using and what size disk it has .. how much free space is available and how much is now required. If you upgraded to Mavericks it probably needs to do a whole new  backup and simply doesn't have the space .. nor can it delete the old backup.
Please read Pondini FAQ for details of these issues.. deleting backups for example Q12
    http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
There is also info on how much space is required for backups.

There is no magic bullet. You need to delete stuff off the startup drive.
The biggest hard drive space hogs are videos, images and music. The good news is that all of these can - and probably should - be moved to an external drive. So my advice would be to get yourself an external hard drive, connect it to your Macbook, format it correctly, move what you can to that drive, and the ERASE them off the startup.
    Good luck.
