How to make movies widescreen

I have downloaded some movies and when i play them in quicktime i can click the button that lets me make it widescreen but it doesn't have that option in itunes so im stuck watching a square more or less, is there some option i cand make so i view it in widescreen.

no not fullscreen, when i open my movies or tv shows that can be played in widescreen in quicktime, there is a small button next to the fast forward button that looks like a box with arrows on either side(photo 1). this stretches the video so that it is wider, as seen in photo 2(edge to edge in the video player). basically i go from watching a square to watching an actual widescreen movie. however i do not have this option in itunes.

  • How to make movie in iDVD without themes.  iDVD app quitting during burning

I am trying to make movie without themes and still having problems. I have tried using the map view in themes, dragging movie into the first box on left, looping it - but am seeing a yellow error sign in the theme box. Don't know why this is. Have tried to burn movie anyway but iDVD app quits halfway thru. Today I tried just simply going to iDVD >file>onestep DVD from movie>select movie and inserting disc. This seems to be the simple solution I have been looking for to burn a movie without themes but iDVD still quit on me halfway thru burning just now. Is this a space problem? Disc problem? help...

OK F Shippey - Using this computer for anything other than email is pretty new to me. I have just recently began using imovie and idvd. I have burned one idvd and working on a second. While making the movie I was constantly having to delete old footage to make room for space. In other words I don't know much about space and usage. I know that in my new imovie project it says that i have 7.53 Gb available. I know i have a Lacie external with one DVD on it. So what do i need to know about space on a hard drive while using imovie? How do you monitor how much hard drive space you have while working on projects like this? Do I find this info in About This Mac? Sorry for so many dumb questions. Clearly I don't know what I am doing. Thanks for your reply.

  • How to make movies open in the center of my screen.

Does anyone know how to make Quicktime open up videos in the center of a screen? When I double click any movie file it pops open in the uppermost far left corner, and I have to drag it down into a more comfortable area. It's annoying with a large monitor.
    Thanks

The script writing lobe of my brain was damaged by years of drug abuse, years ago. Try as I might, I can't seem to get it right.
The most common error I get is:
Expected end of line, etc. but found “end tell”.
I tried modeling one of any number of existing scripts but still no dice.
    I tried this:
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    set the bounds of window 1 to {235, 58, 944, 590}
    end tell
And got this error message: QuickTime Player got an error: NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 4
I know this is simple but, like I said...

  • How to make movie from photos?

    Hi all,
I used to make family movies using iMovie and photos from iPhoto.
I have tried to do it again just to find out iMovie doesn't allow me to use photos. Only pieces of camera movies are now used by iMovie.
Do you know any way to import photos to iMovies?
    Thanks
    Victor

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • How to make movie begin playing automatically.

    Keynote 8
I want a QT movie to begin playing without the need to click.  I have have unchecked the click.  The slide with the movie on it appears but it does not begin playing.
    Thanks.
This is for a looped presentation that you may watch in a waiting room... some static slides and some with very brief video.

I'm having the same problem as ggr - Eric your response is pretty lame. Refering someone to a  "how to" video. Do you get paid for this? It is a real problem! I have a .mov in my keynote that does not play. I have tried other videos - they too do not play. It's a H.264. After restarting my computer. The video played a couple of times. But then it stopped working again. BTW it's a relatively new iMac with OS 10.6.8.

  • Help please, how to make movie play in nano

i have a nano, i thought there should be a transfer software built-in,but no.
anyone can give me this software pls?

    Hey there,
First, make sure you have your iPod set up to sync videos. To do this, plug your iPod in and head over to the "Videos" tab and make sure they are set to "Sync" and hit "Apply" when you have selected your method for syncing videos. More on syncing videos can be found in the Apple document below.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1333
Also, make sure the video is in the standard iPod format. Even though it was bought from the iTunes store, it may not be in the correct iPod format. To change this, right->click (or control->click on a mac) on the movie in your iTunes library and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version." The conversion may take anywhere from a few minutes to quite some time depending on the length of the movie.
Once it is done, try resyncing it to your iPod. Hope this helps.

  • I was wondering how to make Movies I have created in iMovie show up on my apple TV?

I just bought apple TV and have been able to use music from two computers ,got photos to show up,but have not been able to play iMovies I have made. When I go to the Apple TV and open the imovies, it tells me, no movies. I have tried to drag the imovies over into itunes ,but still no luck. Any suggestions
    Thanks

Movies cannot be organised into folders on the Apple TV, the article linked to above works only with the Apple TV 1. You can use genres and playlists to a certain extent but it doesn't get anywhere near the organisation available on the Apple TV 1.
If you have any suggestions that you think might enhance the Apple TV you can send Apple your feedback here.

  • How to make movie credits on motion

I need to do a typical movie credit reel where the names scroll from bottom to top and i need it to stretch out over about 2 minutes. I have tried live type, but it freezes too much and wont do exactly what i need. I hear motion is so much better, but i have never used it. Please help me out. If you can speak as if you are speaking to a 3rd grader and be simple and specific if you can Thanks.

I did a roller for a feature film last month and the Scroll Up behavior would have worked fine, but I did a layout of the credits and then applied a Rate parameter (cntrl click on the Y position in Properties) to the folder that contained them. Then I tweaked the Rate until both the timing and speed were right. It worked well.

  • How to make movies that have the same format as WS DVDs?

What screen format do you use when creating a new project to have it look like store bought Wide Screen DVDs? Is it DV-NTSC Anamrophmoric 720x480, or should you go up to HDV 720/30? The final output will be to DVD and shown on a wide screen (16:9) monitor.
It seems that the Anamrophic it not wide enought to look like wide screen and what is the deal with the project format and then the output format. I tried several variations and found a circle wipe that looks round on the FCP screen and exported using "Current Settings" it comes out oval?
I found settings that look like they will work but would like to hear from someone who knows more than I.
    Thanks,

All the footage is 4:3 DV which I will have to blow it up to fit 16:9.
As I stated before the anamorphic format did not seem to be as wide as I had hoped for. When I tried anamorphic it looked like it was just doing letterbox with black on top and bottom not real wide screen.
I guess I will just have to try out some short clips to see for myself.
So when you choose DV Anamorphic for the project format then do you choose Current Settings when you export the file or custom?
    Thanks

  • Not sure how to use Movie Maker with my HP TrueVision HD webcam

I've never used Movie Maker before. When I fire it up and double-click Webcam video in the ribbon I get a splash screen saying "Please Start YouCam"
I assume it is possible to make a video using the build-in webcam, and to save it to disk.
I need some help understanding how to do that.
    Thanks.
    Roricka

    Peer One,
You know, if you hadn't replied, other people who might be inclined to actually help, might see that there were "0" replies, but now someone may actually think I've received helpful advice and skip it.  If that seems harsh, would you mind taking the time to address a couple of meta-issues?
    1. You state that Movie Maker is a Microsoft product. Now, my question was how to make Movie Maker work with the built-in camera on my HP laptop. Movie Maker itself seems to launch just fine, but it appears to be unaware of a piece of HP hardware, hence my post to an HP forum. How do you figure it is helpful to inform me (as if I didn't know) that Movie Maker is made by Microsoft? Does it matter if movie maker is made by Acme Software? My problem is essentially that I can't get Movie Maker to see my HP camera. Are you just attempting to scold me for not realizing Movie Maker is not an HP product? Is the forum ONLY to assist people having difficulty with HP software?
    2. You write "you might want to read up the instructions." Are you just being passive-aggressive or is this comment actually intended as assistance? Now, I fully expect you to double-down at this point. I know that almost all respondents to forums who make these kinds of remarks never apologize and admit they are simply being critical with no attempt to be helpful. Unless you believe that by stating the obvious, it is helpful. (Do you?) While it is of little value to explain this, let me say that the Microsoft instructions for Movie Maker that I was able to find (note: MM itself does not include a help entry on any of its ribbon menus or sub-menus -- and if you are unaware of that, don't you think you should have investigated it prior to taking on the role of scolder-in-chief for this thread?) did not explain how to activate one's built-in camera. I firmly believe such a help topic is covered somewhere, but I simply couldn't find it after considerable searching. I didn't feel it necessary to point that out in my question -- I guess I just assume people are more charitable or willing to help than was the ONE PERSON WHO COMMENTED AND THUS OFFERED HIS "1" UNDER THE "REPLIES" COLUMN.
    3. You ask if my laptop has a built-in camera. You know something? I know my four sentence post was a trifle difficult for some folks to read and understand (OK, now I plead guilty to a charge of passive-agressiveness), but don't you feel the use of the phrase "built-in webcam" (ok, ok, so I misspelled it "build-in" instead of "built-in") should have been a pretty strong clue that my laptop has a webcam?
Well, I wish there was some way to totally delete your extremely condescending and unhelpful response. But maybe someone who actually can offer some assistance will ignore the "1" and make it a "2" for the number of replies.
    Thanks for your attention.

  • How to make a website like this

Does anyone know a good publication or training DVD that will
quickly teach me how to make websites like this:
    http://blusites.com/adam/
I've been taking a flash course through a local college and
all they teach me is how to do stupid animal animations, animated
gifs etc... I'm dropping the class hoping that I can teach myself
    and not waste anymore time
    Thanks!

Personally, why pay to view linda.com videos when you can
access all the videos you could want for free at
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/
I'm not crazy about the videos anywhere because I might have
to watch them again and again, but some of the videos have a
tutorial and a file to download.
If you're the type that you like to do all you can before
going to a forum, then you can do these things:
    1. I don't know if you have Adobe Creative Suite 3, but if
you want to make websites with flash, you will need the program.
    2. I like the flash movie at
    http://blusites.com/adam/blu1.swf,
but believe it or not, it's a very simple movie. The photographs
are supplied by a professional photographer, and the flash movie is
    simple.
    3. If you already know how to make movies using Flash, then
get yourself an Advanced Flash book to to learn faster and become a
better flash creator. Flash CS3 uses ActionScript 2.0 and 3.0. You
might like to get a book on ActionScript 3.0 to learn faster.
You can and will learn faster and better if you take the time
    to do 2. and 3.
There is a ton of Flash Tutorials at Adobe and other
websites, do a search and you'll get so many sites it could take
    years to visit them all.
    good luck, hope this helps

  • My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.

My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.
I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts.  Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins?  Really concerned about losing any music, etc.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • How do I move a song from Music to Tones to make it my ringtone?

In my Itunes Library, how do I move a song from Music to Tones so I can make it my ringtone on my iphone

Right mouse click the song in music library you want to create ringtone and choose “Get Info”
Choose “Option” Tab, Check “Start Time” & Stop Time” of the track you want to make into ringtone and put in your start time and end time (Max 40 secs duration), then click OK
Right mouse click the mp3 again and choose “Create AAC Version”
You will see a copy of song with same name appeared but with 40sec duration only. Now drag the song onto your desktop and you will see the name is now xxxxxx.m4a.
Change the file extension m4a into m4r from the desktop
Delete the 40sec m4a file from the music library (You must do this step or Itune will not accept your new m4r file).
*Important - Now uncheck the start & stop time of the original song so that you can play back full length.
Now, drag the m4r file from desktop to Library
Click onto the Tones under Library, and you find you ringone file.
Note: Just in case you cannot "Create AAC version" from Step 3, go to top menu, click "Edit", "Preference". Under "general" Tab, click "Import Settings", make sure under Import Using that "AAC Encoder" is selected.

  • How to make text/objects move nonlinear speed on AE CC?

    Hi,
    I was wondering two questions:
    1) how to make "text holders" that has small animation. Here is an example from a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oSWt84VoAg (0:41).
    2) how to move objects with increasing speed and soft slow down. I know how to change speed, but how to make it so that it is only accelerating and slowing down? Same examle can be found from the clip above with the place holders and texts.
Thank you for your help. If there is same kind of discussion going on please let me know. I could not find it.

All of what you want to do comes down to the fine art of learning how to magle curves in the graph editor, which is nothing you can learn from just watching totorials. You learn it by doing and collecting experience.
