Hi,
How to make my 30 GB 5.5 genaration iPod act as a USB pen drive? were i just plug in to my Windows XP PC and it opens a window with what the iPod have inside, just like USP pen Drives.
Or this is impossible and in order do somthing like these i must install 1ª some software like iTunes or other 3ª party software?
I mean other 3ª party software, because iTunes take some time to install, and since what i want is to go to i.e my friends house and the more rapdly possible way make my iPod act as an USB pen drive.
If yes wich 3ª party software?

Read over the instructions given here and try this out:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131
In general, you can use an ipod in the same ways that you would use any other external storage drive with a computer. Whether your computer actually pops open a window when the ipod is connected to the computer depends on your settings, but that should be what happens by default on a typical system.

As I have downloaded your Recovery Assistant tool on Intel base machine now please describe the whole process to make USB pen drive a recovering tool for my Mac Book Pro as it was pre-install a Snow Lapord OS X.

What OS are you trying to make a bootable recovery for?
10.6 is not available for download and I can't see how you have a MacBook Pro with Retina that came with 10.6.8?
You can either make a recovery disk (which boots & then downloads the installer from the App store). clintonfrombirmingham linked instructions for that.
Or you can make a bootable install disk. First you download the OS from the App store & then use a command to image the installer to a USB disk.

10.6 should be on a DVD installer disk which can be copied to a USB disk via another method, ask if you need that.

  • How to make the date format in ipod the same as in itunes?

When I look at my podcasts in itunes, the dates come up as dd/mm/yyyy (which is correct), however, when I look at my podcasts on the ipod, the date comes up as mm/dd, which is very confusing.
I cannot figure out how to make it so that the date format is the same.

  • How can i transfer music from my Ipod nano to my new hard drive

Hi, I have a I pod Nano 6th edition.I downloaded music from my CD collection and I purchased a few CD's from ITunes. I had problems with the hard drive and had to have a new hard drive installed. I was advised to save my ITunes library and my photos and any other important documents on my hard drive.I saved everything onto a pen drive.
I have tried to reinstall everything onto my new hard drive. I had no problem with the photos or documents, but the ITunes folders are giving me problems.
I have downloaded the updated ITunes web site onto my new hard drive.I have tried to send the folder from pen drive to the iTunes folder and My Music folder.
I also tried dragging the folder from the pen drive to the my music folder. For some reason 3 tracks from about 4 hundred have arrived in the My Music Folder.
I am afraid to plug my Ipod into the laptop as I was told I could lose every thing
Is there any way to solve my problem??

  • Is there no way to use the iPod Touch as a USB Flash drive?

All pervious versions of the iPod have had a checkbox option under Info for "Enable use as disk" which lets you transfer files to and from the iPod as if it were a USB Flash drive for general purpose storage. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131
This option is not available for iPod Touch. Does anyone know if Apple mentioned why? Does the iPhone support this option?
Apple seemed very concerned about taking applications away to distinguish the iPod Touch from the iPhone, this would be an example of a feature I think they should have included in the Touch regardless of its availability in the iPhone, I hope they change this in the future.

Does the iPhone support this option?
Not via Apple, but someone else has produced a way:

I look on line for a answer and read; yes, it can be done and no, it can't be done. I've read the "how to" and can't make heads or tails of what direction to go.
Don't know what happened to iTunes but it is very confusing to learn lately. Never seem to be that hard in the beginning. (Sorry, I'm rambling.)
Anyway can somone shed some light on this subject.

  • How to make the pic showed on ipod 5th while playing mp3

can anyone teach me the way as captioned, very appreciate your help.

Assuming you have artwork within iTunes, try this
Open iTunes and select iPod in the iTunes Source list. Then click the Options button.
Choose “Display album artwork on your iPod.”
To see album artwork on your iPod:
1 Play a song that has album artwork.
2 From the Now Playing screen, press the Center button twice. If you don’t see artwork, either that song doesn’t have album artwork, or you need to set iTunes to allow iPod to display album artwork (see above).
If you do not have art within iTunes, select the songs within iTunes library. Right click and then click on get info. This will give you an option to paste some art in. (You can copy art from Amazon)

  • How to update song info in iTune & IPOD after changes made in source drive?

After I added songs to library in iTune and updated in IPOD, I notices some some information was not correct. How can I update the song information to iTunes & IPOD other than clicking each song one by one? In another words, is there a way to batch update the song information from the source drive (I have uploaded all my CDs and saved on my harddrive.
    Thank you.

I understand that you use iTunes to sync, but somehow didn't use iTunes to delete the file. You will have to use the iTunes interface to delete the file. Go to iTunes/Books, highlight the book, and delete the file. The next time you sync,  you should not see the message.
Respond in this thread with the results, so we know the problem is fixed or not.

  • How to make a JMS Proxy Service Subscriber act as a synchronous service

I am trying to find the correct OSB pattern/configuration to support the following.
    Use case:
Multiple messages put onto a JMS topic. The Java Web Service invoked by the Proxy Service subscriber should only ever have one instance active at a time so that it processes messages syncronously.
    Current OSB Configuration:
JMS Topic -> ProxyServiceA -> BusinessServiceA (Java Synchronous Web Service)
-> ProxyServiceB -> BusinessServiceB (BPEL Synchronous Web Service)
Work Manager configured on ProxyServiceA with maxThreadCount = 1 and minThreadCount = 1
    Issue:
Multiple instances of BusinessServiceA are active at the same time with the settings above. I am unable to make ProxyServiceA act as a synchronous process, so that it will not return until BusinessServiceA has completed.

JMS Topic -> ProxyServiceA -> BusinessServiceA (Java Synchronous Web Service)-> ProxyServiceB -> BusinessServiceB (BPEL Synchronous Web Service)
If I remember correct there were some issue with work-manager being configured in proxy is not used. Engineering has fixed that issue in Oracle Service Bus (11.1.1.3.0). You might want to check with support to get the requisite patch for your version.
You requirement for synchronous process can be achieved by two ways
Option1) Configure BusinessServiceA with Throttle Q with Maximum Concurrency 1 http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/operations/throttling.html

  • HOW TO... Fix Your **** iPod's Connectivity to PC

    Okay, Windows XP user?
Do you have the following symptoms:
    1) The iTunes and iPod Updater do not recognise the iPod. You've tried the 4 R's, but NONE OF them work?
    2) The 5th R "Restore" will not work because iPod Updater hangs on Initialize and does not recognise your iPod?
    3) Does your iPod appear in 'My Computer' as 'Removable Disk', but upon clicking that, it hangs and crashes?
    4) Does your iPod not eject properly from PC and simply hangs?
5 Does this happen on every computer you connect that iPod too, regardless of the connecting wire?
I've racked my brains about this for a while [12 hours] and I know alot of you are having these same troubles, especially Windows XP users.
What I've come to realise is that the iPod's data has become currupted somehow. The only way to get around this is to reformat it. Yes folks, you're gonna have to LOSE ALL YOUR FILES ON THE IPOD.
I was very adament at first, but if you've exhausted the entire Support Troubleshooting pages and none work... this is the only way.
To DELETE ALL DATA and REFORMAT, do this:
Make sure the iPod is not connected to PC.
Uninstall iPod and iTunes programs on your PC.
Make sure any non essential system utilities like anti-virus, IE, Firewall, Internet connectivity, MSN, AIM, whatever is OFF.
Make sure any existing iPod and iTunes services are off by CTRLALTDELETE and clicking Processes. End Task 'iTunesHelpers', 'iTunes', 'ipod service'.
On the iPod, press and hold the 'Menu' and 'Centre' buttons for longer than 6 seconds. The Apple Logo will appear.
Then press and hold 'Play Pause' and 'Menu' buttons for longer than 6 seconds to go into 'Disk Mode'
Now plug your iPod into your USB.
Wait for the computer to load profiles, this may take awhile so do not do anything until its finished. It may seem like its hanging but bear with me.
Right Click 'My Computer'> Manage > Disk Management
You'll see your iPod Volume there. Again it may hang but let it work its magic.
Right click the iPod drive [absolutely make sure it's the iPod and not your PC hard drives!] and click 'Format'
Ignore the 'Volume Label' and 'Allocation unit size'
Change File system to "FAT 32".
Make sure 'Perform a quick format' and 'Enable file and folder compression' are unticked.
    Then click OK.
This may take a long time to reformat on USB 2.0. Roughly an hour.
When the Status is 100%, you will notice in 'My Computer' that you can access the thing and it will not hang or crash.
    Eject the iPod.
    Now restart the PC.
Install iPod Updater and restart again. Don't install iTunes.
Now plug the iPod back in the PC.
Open the iPod Updater software and it will actually recognise the iPod this time.
Click on 'Update' to update the firmware. This will take 5 minutes, you can see after 2 minutes the Apple logo on the iPod and a progressive bar. YOU MUST NOT DISCONNECT, EJECT, TURN OFF PC, OR CRASH THE IPOD EVER AT THIS POINT OR YOU WILL **** UP ROYALLY.
When the 'Update' is complete, click on 'Restore' to restore it to factory settings. This will take a few mins.
VOILA, YOUR IPOD IS NOW FULLY WORKING AND UPDATED BACK TO HOW IT WAS WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT [IF NOT BETTER]
Now re-install your iTunes or whatever programs and refill it
Be wreary about what you put on it though, maybe it was something dodgy before that could trigger the fault again.
    Good luck

      Windows XP

Hi just wanted to let you know I solved most of my XP problems with my new IPOD. It won't recognise the IPOD or driver and froze and locked up and then the battery died. After hours of trying different things here is what I did. I completly closed computer down. Waited 15 minutes turned on and reloaded everything. I put the usb cable in but not hooked up to IPOD. I turned off Mcaffee (all of it). After my computer came on. I then went and closed everything I didn't need in the bottom toolbar. (taskbar). I then reloaded the software and waited. Took forever to reload and I don't know why but whatever it worked but I DID NOT HOOK UP THE IPOD LIKE IT SAID! I instead shut down the computer after loading the software and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on. I again waited and shut of mcaffee. It loaded everything fine this time and said new hard ware and drivers detected. I plugged my IPOD in and YES I WAS UP AND RUNNING (THIS IS AFTER 6 HOURS OF PLAYING WITH OTHER THINGS!) I am able to load and play, burn, watch movies, see pictures and everything your suppose too! The only thing I see different than the instructions is I left my usb cable plugged in and when it said to eject the disk I didn't. I also didn't plug in the IPOD (5th Gen) and then I shut down waited and then restarted the computer. I hope this helps others because I know the feeling of wanting to return something you paid dearly for and worked hard at saving money to buy one and it doesn't work. My only thing I dislike about apple is they didn't supply a ac adapter for the IPOD and the instructions say to plug it up when trying to charge battery. DUHHHHHH, ya can't do that if ya don't have one and stores are closed and won' open until Monday! But at least I am up and running. I just hate having to plug up IPOD to computer daily to charge the battery which only last a half a day1

  • How to make recovery dvd from original lion

    hi
i buyed the new macbook pro with lion software 1- why  there is no cd comes withet 2-how can i make a recovery cd 3- why lion is not at list of purched software at apple store if apple sale the hardware with that
    tanks

Computers that now come with Lion pre-installed do not require a disc. They would be restored via the Internet Recovery system: OS X Lion- About Lion Recovery. You can create an emergency Recovery HD volume on a USB flash drive using the OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery Disk Assistant.
It is possible to make a bootable installer but the process is a bit involved:
Downloading Hardware Specific Lion Installers will enable you to get a copy of the Lion installer application from which you can make a bootable Lion installer on an 8 GB USB flash drive:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.

  • Mac Pro can't recognize 1GB Pen Drives... How to fix it?

Recently I keeps encountered the same annoying problem...
My Mac Pro can't recognize the USB pen drives when I or my co-worker plug into Mac Pro's USB port.
For a few times, if we are lucky, Mac Pro shows the pen drive on the desk top, but sometimes it can't read or write the data from/to the pen drive, many times, it simply freeze over.
Does anyone knows how to fix such problem? It seems to me that the new Mac Pro still has some bugs needs to be sort out...
    Thanks in advance.
    KC

    Hi, Malcolm:
    Thanks for the post.
No, my new Mac Pro system does not have USB port on the Keyboard, cause I've opted for Apple's wireless blue tooth mouse and keyboard.
I do have 2 USB ports on the Apple's 23" LCD display, and Two USB ports on front side and two available USB ports on the back of the Mac itself.
During the Thanksgiving long weekend, I think I might accidentally singled out the cause of my problem.
I have my HP printer and one multi-card reader constantly pluged into the two USB ports at the back of my Mac, and always tried to use the front side USB ports for the 1GB USB Pen Drives, and that's where the problem lays!
When I unplug the Multi Card Reader from the back USB port, and suddenly all USB ports on my Mac works just fine with the Pen Drives!!!
So, for now, I plug the Multi Card Reader in one the the front USB port, and the rest of the USB ports on the Mac work with Pen Drives flawlessly, it seems that I sloved my problem for the time being...
As for those two USB ports on the back of my 23" Apple Display, They can not take my USB Pen Drives, as you've mentioned that it does not have enough power for the USB Pen Drives.
