i have an iphone 4 and will want to use an mp3 song from my songs as ringtone,how can i do this?

iPhone ringtones use .m4r not mp3.
Ringtone on iPhone has 35 seconds limitation.
1. Import your mp3 into iTunes and convert it to m4a.
Check option in iTunes Preferences... (Windows: Edit > Preferences...) > General > Import Settings... > Import Using: > AAC Encoder
2. Right click on mp3 to Create AAC version.
3. Drag the converted song onto the desktop and delete the converted song from iTunes
4. Change the file extension on desktop from .m4a to .m4r (Windows: make sure you can see the file extension)
5. Import from desktop back to iTunes.
6. Select ringtone in Tones section and sync with your iPhone.

HELP. TRYING TO MAKE A RINGTONE. DESPERATE

okay so i just got an iphone 4 and my bro showed me how to make a ringtone using the new 11.1 update. it worked but when i went to my itunes it didnt,
he has the tones setting showing and i dont so i went to my preferences and my itunes completely froze. ive been at this for 2 hours installing **** and repairing tunes. it wont let me re download the update. i cant even get to my home page where you can see the phone. i dont even know how i hate this new update... and my bro wont help me because hes selfish and its not his problem.,
i need help big time. im desperate.
oh and when i went to my created aac version and opened windows. it didnt show that it was an m4a. so i couldnt even convert it. could someone just come over? lol

This might work as well and will allow drag and drop of mp3 files. This is written as if the phone is connected to the computer.
In the sd card, check if there is a folder called media. In the media folder verify or create a folder called audio. Within the audio folder create the following folders: alarms, notifications, and ringtones. These should be typed exactly as written. Copy or move the files into the folder you want them in. Disconnect the phone from the computer and let the remount the sd card. Now go into your notification or ringtones list. The files you put into the individual folders should automatically be there.
I know that this works on the Eris and I got the method back when only the eris and droid 1 was available. I just can't remember exactly where I got it. Hopefully it also works for the Droid 1.

How do I make a ringtone from an app my default on my iphone?

I downloaded a song from an app on itunes on my iphone 5 and I cannot figure out how to make it my default ringtone. My mac OS.X 10.6 will not retrieve ringtone from phone and I cannot get a downloaded audio book from my mac onto my phone either. I tried connecting my iphone which "automatically syns" and downloads photos and some songs but not all of them. When I go to devices on my mac it is not "bolded" so I cannot even select my iphone as a device to try to view my library, organize it, or drag and drop songs onto my phone if I were to put them onto my desktop. SO Frustrating!

you have a very legitimate point. To my knowledge, there is no more secure way for archival storage than a DVD stored in a dark, cool, plastic enclosed jacket (to protect from scratches). after experiencing hard drive SATA storage discs (time capsule failures in particular) fail, want to go back to DVD storage, but now everyone wants to sell you a new program and 2 TB backups.
So what to do? Dumb down my Lion OS back to Leopard and go back to the good old days when I could get something done?
Having "switched " from MS to Mac almost 4 years ago, ready to go back. I had fewer hassles with my computers, got more done, and had lower blood pressure ten years ago than I do now, although Windows is always a "Johnny come lately" when it comes to any new innovation, having merely perfected the art of monopoly. lately though, have become very disenchanted with Apple, and will not be replacing /repairing my MacBook pro, macMini, iIMac when they finally break.
Is there any you tube site that someone could show me how to simply plug my Sony 8mm camcorder with the old Motorola style plugs (also has an S -video option) to the Mac Mini and burn the DVDs one by one? No editing. no fancy stuff. Just a straight out burn for archival storage? I want to get that done first before I mess with the hard drive back ups.

I had to register because I need to let you know what I think.
I am a 45 year old bloke and I have spent the best part of tonight trying to get new songs onto my wifes nokia lumia 800, Ok after 30 mins I managed that then she said 'can I have a new text message funny tone and a new ringtone' So I said yea.
OMG and I mean Oh My God, what on earth do you think you have done? Why have you made it so complicated. Its not real it seems I cant go to the music part on the phone and choose a new ringtone Oh no people on here it seems are unable to distinguish between ringtones and music in one so they split it up. Not only that you have to get zune to register the song/sound whatever as a ringtone genre before uploadidng it to your phone and thats not to mention getting the phone to see the new file in the first place because for some reason you dont want me looking round the files on my pc to upload you want to tell me what i can or cant upload because you know best right. WRONG.
So I try to change it and 'ringtone' is not there for a genre so I thought (pardon my language) bollox I cant be bothered any more, once I think that and i read this thread I find those funny text messga tones I have, well forget that they can not be used only default ones????? Are you real? Honestly someone at Nokia when designing this phone thought 'You know what we will restrict them from changing text message tones because they will like that any buy more phones from us' ARE YOU REAL??????????????
Right I am telling you here and now, I have 2 children both have phones I have one and so does my wife I also have a large extended family and NOT ONE SINGLE ONE OF US will ever buy another nokia. You seem to want to make it such an awful experience using your phones you are must want to bankrupt your company, I mean why else would you do that? Why make a phone so hard to customise that you give up after a couple of hours? Why restrict text message tones to the default ones only? tell me what that achieves what added benefit does your customer get from that? For my part its non.
No as I said I will never buy another of your phones I simply will not pay hundreds of pounds on something that locks me out of even the most basic of functions as text mesage tones and makes other things like ringtones so convoluted and awkward that it gives you a headache.
Your phone is quite simply rubbish no wonder you wont be around much longer.

YOu can't use the whole song for a ringtone, you would have to create one 30 second or less.
YOu can download an app to create the ringtone.
