How to make pboard start on boot? -- No copy & paste

Hello everyone -
I had a hard disk failure on my Macbook this week. I replaced the hard drive and restored from a Time Machine image. Now I have no copy/paste or drag/drop working.
I have tried running Cocktail, Disk Util, fsck (in single-user mode), as well as AppleJack. I have installed the 10.5.5 combo updater.
I have been Googling the issue and it seems that pboard not launching at boot time. If I go to a Terminal and type 'pboard' to run it, my copy and paste and drag/drop come back.
How can I tell OS X to launch pboard automatically on boot?
Thanks so much...I'm about to lose my mind!

I'm guessing that since I had bad sectors on the hard drive when I ran fsck it moved a bunch of stuff to lost+found trying to repair the file system. I would guess that the file may have been in a bad section of the hard drive and that's how it got "misplaced."
So far the computer is acting normally. I'm hoping it stays this way until Snow Leopard comes out and then I plan on doing a full wipe and install to make sure everything is fresh and clean!

You need to place a shortcut to open Firefox in the Start > Programs > Startup folder.<br />
That is basically the same in all Windows versions.

How to make a starting picture ( logo like Microsoft Word appear when click Word Item ) that start before application run

    hi,
essentially you would not call it a starting picture, itz called a splash screen. you can create it in a very simple manner,
    just follow the steps.
    1. have a class that extends Canvas
    2. add a jlabel and by adding a imageicon containing the image to the jlabel
    3. have a timer or a thread, start the timer and at the same time show the canvas in the middle of the screen
    4. and after some time, just close the window and show the main application window. (also stop the timer or thread)
you could of course make it better if you allow the setting of the image file and timeout to be set dynamically, but thatz of course not much of a problem.
    hope this was useful.

  • How to make text start at the top of a page in livecycle 9

Hi, How can I get the text in a large text field to start at the top left of the field rather than at the center of the field? In addition, may one know how to make text wrap in the form as well?
    Thanks,
    David

To set the Text alignment properties use "Paragraph" pallet you can make it visible by selecting Window>>Paragraph or Shift+F5
And to allow text wrapping you need to select "Allow Multiple Lines" checkbox under "Object" pallet and "Field" tab. You can make Object pallet visible by selecting Window>>Object or Shift+F7.

    Hi Kalyan,
Unfortunately, I cannot find section "6.8.2.3 Deleting the Java Part of an SAP System" as you said.
All docs that I've just downloaded only have sections 6.8 & sub 6.8.1 as following:
      - 6.8 Deleting an SAP System
+ 6.8.1 Running SAPinst to Delete an SAP System
    Docs browsed are:
      - Installation Guide - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR2 <b>ABAP+Java</b> / <b>Java</b> / <b>ABAP</b> on Windows - MS SQL Server
      - Installation Guide - SAP SAP ERP 2005 SR2 <b>ABAP+Java</b> / <b>Java</b> / <b>ABAP </b>on Windows - MS SQL Server
So please show me the way to get the correct ones or send me via [email protected]
    You answer is considered helpful.
    Thanks,

  • Make daemons start after boot?

Can I make daemons start after the boot has ended? Netcfg uses about 10 seconds connecting to my wireless network, and the mounting of my windows share (trough fstab, using cifs) takes even longer. Therefore, I'd like to know if there's a way to start netcfg as a daemon and/or also mount my share after I've gotten into Arch and/or X after boot?
Can I use something like .xinitrc for this?
    Last edited by Bennythen00b (2010-12-18 23:30:04)

I tried that, but my windows share won't mount then for some reason. :-/
E: To be a little more specific, I backgrounded "net-profiles" and "network". I assume this doesn't work because whatever executes fstab tries to mount the share and fails before the network has finished connecting, or are daemons queued in the background too?
Anyway, just having "network" backgrounded works rather well, and I only have to wait for my wifi to connect. Not a huge problem, but I'd prefer having it start in the background in some way.

Yes, web.xml is what you want to configure, if what you're wanting to do is browse to a particular URL and have your servlet executed. See the Tomcat site (http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat) for examples.

  • How to make custom start end shapes for stroke (arrowheads)...

    hello...
Indesign cs4 have nice start end stroke shapes like arrowheads, circles, squares...circles is clear, without fill. I need fill in it.
How to make custom shapes or edit existings start/end shapes to functioning like original provided with indesign?
    Maybe illustrator cs4 have this?

There's no way to edit line endings in ID. You would have to make a compound path from a line with no ending and a second path or shape for the end.

  • How to make TM start a NEW backup

Since January and updating to 10.5.6 (not sure if that had anything to do with it), my iMac had been freezing up and required me to manually power off and on, at first a few times a week, later increasing to several times a day. I suspected a HD failure, but no hardware tests or SMART status tests indicated so. Since February, Time Machine has been doing backup. A couple of weeks ago I finally had time to do a reformat of the iMac HD and did a full reinstall and updated directly to 10.5.7. Since then I have had no freezing issues.
But. I now have the TM backup from February till mid-May on my external HD. I would like to keep it as it is, all 200Gb worth, and have TM start a totally fresh backup in a new folder.
After reading pages of information about TM, it seemed people have had trouble doing the opposite, i.e. make TM use build onto the backup which was already there. So I figured TM would do what I hoped; make a new folder in the Backups.backupdb folder with the new computer name (I changed the name on purpose when reinstalling).
I set up TM preferences to use the same disk as before, as there is still more than enough space. I was surprised to see what happened:
    - The backup folder name changed from the old "EX iMac" to the new installation's name "Exxx Xxxx's iMac".
    - A new dated folder (....inProgress) was created, but with the same date as the last backup made from the old installation a couple of weeks ago, rather than today's date.
I cancelled the backup right awayas this wasn't what I was expecting, so the "folder" name is still "2009-05-16-124351.inProgress"
    - When I enter TM through the UI, the HD name has been changed for all the old backups (used to be "Macintosh HD", is now "Mac HD ny").
So it seems that TM in its wisdom recognizes the iMac as its old self, and wants to continue building onto the old backups. This is exactly what I don't want... when space runs out on the external HD, I don't want the old backups to be pruned at all. I want to keep the old backup as-is, for future reference etc., and have TM start a full, fresh backup of my near-empty iMac, which it can do its incremental and space-saving thing with later on.
Any ideas as to how I can persuade my computer into agreeing that this is a worthwhile concept?

    Pondini wrote:
Just why do you want to prevent TM from deleting old backups? If it's because you've been deleting things from your internal HD, trusting TM to keep it's copies indefinitely, that's not a good idea.
The reason is, TM's copies are no longer backups: now they're your originals. When (not if) your TM drive fails, you may lose all of them.
Thank you for your input. As I wrote earlier, I have reformatted the internal HD and reinstalled a "blank" system. So yes, most files, documents etc. are now found only in the TM backup. One reason for not simply doing a full restore from the TM backup was to allow time to make sure the internal HD was not in fact failing, and being able to reintroduce things step by step in case the problem should materialize again.
The whole point of wanting to keep the existing TM backup as-is is to make it be there "indefinitely". That doesn't mean I trust the external HD to keep it safe for all eternity, but as long as I am trusting it to back up my stuff, why not let it keep my old stuff as well? Although, admittedly, it is space consuming and the important stuff will be present in both the old and the new backup, once I get it running. Old backup > iMac > New backup. • How to make an SSD a boot drive

I have a 2010 27" iMac (Model 11,3) I plan to upgrade my internal HDD to a 2TB model, and I would like to add a 120GB SSD. Currently I have ML on my internal drive. I have a CCC clone which I could use to colone the new HDD. If I install the SSD how would I make it the boot drive? I would not need ML on the 2TB drive, just on the SSD. I am under the impression that ML can not be installed on a bare drive, it needs either Lion or SL as a base.
Does anyone have a suggestion how I could set up the SSD?

Some users remove the optical drive and replace it with an SSD drive. Search "replace optical drive with ssd imac" for more links.

  • How to make the start of Disco Plus / Viewer faster

    Hello,
I open a workbook via link in Discoverer Viewer. It takes 30-60 seconds until the workbook opens.
I have to say that the whole environment is running on a laptop with 1,5 GB Ram (for a showcase). Is there an option to make it faster? I'm a little confused because when I manually start Discoverer Plus and then open the workbook it does not take so much time.
    regards,
    Tobias

    Toki.
One other 'trick' you can perform for making the actual query run faster once you've connected - for demo purposes only - is to not use 'real data' with many tables, views, etc. but to dump the data you want into one table. In otherwords, you create a table that has the actual data that you would get from a query, querying say 3 tables.
Then when you're demo'ing, you get instant response as you're only using 1 table.
This is done by a well known company when they're trying to show off their product against an Oracle database and querying with various query tools including Disco.

  • How to make the start up faster?

I bought my MBP on April. During the first couple of weeks, the start up was impressive! So quick! But after I installed couple of programs I use at uni, it start up seems to slowed down a bit. Recently I installed Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and couple of other Adobe products. Now the start up is significantly slow compare to before. I was wondering if the services from these programs are running during the startup. So I disabled them via "Login Items". But I'm not too sure if it stops them completely.
Any suggestions to make start up faster?

Is it still showing up in your ad-on manager?

  • No Recovery Partition on my 10.7.4 MacPro, how to make a USB Rec boot drive?

    Hey, all.
I'm on a 2008 model Mac Pro 8-core system for work.  For whatever reason it doesn't have a recovery partition.  I read that if I don't have a recovery partition, I can't make a recovery USB bootable drive....so how do I make one?  And no, I cannot reinstall the OS on here, that would be beyond detrimental to what's going on here.  (too many details to get into)
Alternatively, can I make one with my 10.8.5 MacbookPro at home and run it here on my Lion system?  Or is that no bueno?  What say you, Forum?

Which version of Apex are you on?
By "Calendar item" do you mean the Date Picker ?
If so, the Date item Picker  in Apex 4 onwards has a Minimum Date Setting
