How to make PDF documents that open in Adobe reader open in Preview

How do I make PDF documents that open in Adobe Acrobat open in Preview?

Hold down the control key and select a file of the given type in the Finder. A contextual menu appears. Release the  control key and hold down the option key. From the contextual menu, select the submenu
          Always Open With
and then the application you want to open all files of that type.

    Hyperlinks can be of several types. What are you linking to? Exactly what
    application did you test the hyperlinks with on the Mac? What application
    did you use to create the hyperlinks?

  • Fillable Forms Are Not Readable in PDF Readers That Are Not Adobe Reader

    I have created a number of forms with the help of Adobe Acrobat. I saved the blank form as a templet of sorts. I'll fill it out, then lock it with a checkbox and javascript and then I'll save it as a different name and email it to my client as a quote, or something like that. That should be it, but if they open the PDF in a PDF reader that is NOT Adobe Reader then they will see a blank form with no form fields to fillout/click on or anything.
    I've run into this problem a number of times with people using smartphones to open and view the quote. I know that the iOS and Android systems have the ability to download Adobe Reader as an app. However Android, I'm not sure about iOS, has a program defaultly installed on the phone that can look at PDF files (I know this because I tried on my phone). When people open up the form in one of those programs I get a situation like I discribed above, but if they open the same file in Adobe Reader, be it on their phone or their computer, it works just fine.
    Why is this? Please tell me there is a way to fix it. Thank you in advance for everyones help.

    The rules of how PDF work are written down in a big (1000 page) book. However, people who create apps often leave out great big parts of the book. You can't fix this, only tell them that they must use Adobe Reader, and be prepared to help them do that. May people don't realise, for example, that viewing a PDF in Chrome or FireFox won't use Adobe Reader even if it is installed. And on iOS you cannot change the default PDF viewer, only send PDFs to Adobe Reader later.

  • I get a message "before viewing pdf documents i must launch adobe reader and accept end user licence

    I get a message "before viewing documents in this browser you must launch adobe reader and accept the end user licence agreement then quit and relaunch the browser". How do I do this?

    Just launch Adobe Reader. Assuming you are on a Mac, all apps are launched from Applications.

  • How to reduce a PDF document that contains an Adobe XML form?

    Hi,
    I have created some fillable PDF files using Adobe LiveCycle Designer and used Adobe Acrobat Pro XI to save it as Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in and save)…
    The form includes image, text field, check box, radio button, table and other controls, as well as java scripts behind. The files are from 1 to 3 MB in size. I tried Reduced Size PDF and Optimized PDF, but I got a message: “This PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized.”
    My questions are:
    Is there a way I can reduce the file greatly, say about 100 KB?
    And after the size reduced,  does it still keep the original quality in format and function?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    if you only use default fonts like Arial or Myriad don't embed fonts into the form at all.
    If you have to use a specific font because of corporate identity you should check if there are fields in your fom using other fonts like Arial.
    Especially floating fields are a reason for big files as they use Designers default font even if you'll never see it in the PDF.
    When using images, you should not check the "embed" checkbox, as this will save the images a base64-stream into the xml-source.
    If unchecked the images are stored as hex-stream in the PDF-stream which cause a smaller file size.
    Also, don't use high res images, 150dpi are far enough. You also don't need 16Bit depth as Designer only supports 8Bit images with RGB colors.

  • Unable to open any PDF document in Windream using Adobe Reader (11.0.9)

    Our company uses a document management system for storing and archiving important documents. Since updating to the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.0.9) last week, we are unable to open any PDF document using Adobe Reader. An AcroRd32.exe*32 process is launched, but the document will not open or display. Eventually we suffer a system crash. Opening any other PDF document (not stored in the archive management system) using Adobe Reader is fine. Documents can also be opened in the archive management system using Adobe Acrobat.

    Try disabling Protected Mode (see Pat's response here: Anyone having problems with the Acrobat Reader 11.0.9 update on Win7 X64?) and see if that helps...

  • I cannot open password protected PDF document with attachments with Adobe Reader on OS X. Crashes.

    I cannot open password protected PDF document having attachments on my OS X (v 10.8.4) with Adobe Reader X nor XI. The reader crashes. The same document using the same password opens fine on the laptop and Windows systems wheni it is fetched from a secure mail server. Why?

    Moved to Adobe Reader

  • I have PDF documents to download. Adobe Reader does not recognize my password. How can I reset it?

    Having troubel with Adobe Reader password. It doesn't recognize my entry so I have to reset it. How is this done?

    The password for your computer is not the same password as is sometimes required to open a pdf file. This is also different from any password you may need to access a digital ebook.

  • How to creating pdf documents using c# and Adobe SDK

    I downloaded Adobe SDK and go through the samples given in sdk. But i couldn't find any sample code how to create PDF file using C# code.
    Please, help me with this.
    Thanks.

    For desktop-based solutions, look at the Adobe Acrobat SDK which enables development around Acrobat itself. Or if you wish a stand-alone solution (for either desktop or server), we offer the Adobe PDFLibrary, which is the same technology used by all of Adobe's applications.
    For the server, we have our LiveCycle products including LC Generator.

  • PDF document looks different in Adobe Reader 8.1.2 than in Acrobat Standard 6.0.6

    When I saved a PDF document in Acrobat Standard 6.0.6 and later opened it using Adobe Reader 8.1.2 it has stray characters (or rather little rectangles taking up the space of one text character) in different places on the page.
    Opening the same document again in Acrobat verifies the document still looks like the original, but opening it again in Adobe Reader shows the stray characters or boxes.
    What is causing the two programs to render the same document differently on the screen and in printouts?

    I mean open first PDF file by mouse double click, then double click another PDF file, both are opened in 2 separate windows.

  • "AcroRd32.exe  /t" print a PDF document ( print only, no need to open )

    I'm using the following command to print a PDF document:
    "D:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" /t "D:\R104-20071025165656.pdf" "\\192.168.0.4\hp" "hp LaserJet 1000" "\\192.168.0.4\hp"
    Now it works fine! But I have more request:
    I want a command that only send the file to printer and no need to open the PDF file on local system.
    So anybody can help me?
    Thanks in advance!

    Dear Pedja,
    My program is a desktop application, no a web application. It's not the same as you. And hope the following codes can help you :)
    private void exportReportToPrinter(JasperPrint jasperPrint,int copyNum, String printerName, MediaSizeName mediaSizeName) throws Exception
    // create the print service exporter so that we can print to a named
    // printer
    JRPrintServiceExporter exporter = new JRPrintServiceExporter();
    // set the report to print
    exporter.setParameter(JRPrintServiceExporterParameter.JASPER_PRINT, jasperPrint);
    // tell the exporter to print 1 copy on A4 paper
    PrintRequestAttributeSet aset = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    aset.add(new Copies(copyNum));
    aset.add(mediaSizeName);
    exporter.setParameter(JRPrintServiceExporterParameter.PRINT_REQUEST_ATTRIBUTE_SET, aset);
    // let the exporter know which printer we want to print on
    PrintServiceAttributeSet serviceAttributeSet = new HashPrintServiceAttributeSet();
    serviceAttributeSet.add(new PrinterName(printerName, null));
    exporter.setParameter(JRPrintServiceExporterParameter.PRINT_SERVICE_ATTRIBUTE_SET, serviceAttributeSet);
    // print it
    exporter.exportReport();

  • Is there a way to make a mobile number clickable in an inDesign PDF document, that will open a Texting or Instant Messaging Application?

    Thoughts are to allow groups of individuals mobile numbers to be shared across larger organizations, from within a PDF document, that the mobile numbers would be clickable, and open up a Text or instant messaging application on either the computer, tablet, or smart phone, for instant communication.

  • How do I make comments on a pdf document that was sent to me?

    I have windows XP and Reader 7.0.   Is there a way to enable "edit" so that I can make "comments" on a pdf. document that was sent to me?  withought spending $$$ for pro?

    Thanks Sabian.  It took me a while to figure out that "close Acrobat Reader 7.0" actually meant "delete it".   After loading 10.1.2 I followed the instructions to send my pdf file and Internet Explorer decided to "quit" right in the middle of the process. ??  I'll try to use Chrome to see if that helps.
