  • Is there a way to create a PDF form that ANYONE can fill out and SAVE with their content?

Is there a way to create a PDF form that ANYONE can fill out and SAVE with their content? By anyone, I mean someone who can download and use the free Adobe Reader, on either a Mac or PC. I have Acrobat Pro, and would like to be able to create forms that can not only be filled out and printed, but saved and emailed, which is not an option with the forms I have created to date. They can be filled out, but not saved, with Adobe Reader.
    TIA,
    Nancy

To do what Dave indicated you need to do, it depends on what version of Acrobat you have:
Acrobat 8: Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader
Acrobat 9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
Acrobat 10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
Acrobat 11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)
I wonder what it will be next time?

  • How to make expandable field in pdf forms?

Does anyone here know how to make expandable field in a PDF form?
I want the field, originally appear to be a 1-liner, to expands when you put in more text and everything that is underneath the expandable field shifts or moves down.
    pls help.
    Thanks!

No, LiveCycle Designer is not included in Creative Cloud and is available only for Windows. It was included with the Windows version of Acrobat Pro before Acrobat 11 but is now a separate program and about $300.

  • How do I create an interactive pdf form my clients can actually use?

In the new CS6 Indesign (which is very easy to use to make forms) I've gone through all the steps to make a beautiful form whose buttons, text fields, and hyperlinks all work (great!) but now I've stumbled across one VITAL problem: the submit form button does not work!
I’ve set it up as I’ve seen it done on videos, as a “submit form” type, with the address “mailto: emailaddress.”
Once I exported the file to a pdf interactive form, my "Print form" button works well, and I though I'd fixed the problem when I downloaded adobe reader to read my form, however, no matter what type of computer I use with it, when I hit the "submit form" button, a message saying something to the effect of “you must open in your browser” pops up.
When dragged the pdf document into my browser like the message suggested, not only did the “submit form” button still not work, but now I cannot interact with any of the buttons or fields!
My goal here is simple: make an interactive form my clients can access online (whether as a downloadable pdf or directly on my website) that they can fill out and submit to us directly to our email.  As many of our clients are older, I’d like to make it as easy as possible for them to use our system, and be able to just hit the “submit form” button instead of having to go through the trouble of attaching the finished pdf they filled out to an email and submitting to us.
All the videos I’ve come across so far talk about how to MAKE these forms, but not how to set them up to be used realistically for a business.  Any help I can have would be appreciated, I don’t mind so much how this gets done, as long as it is easy for my clients to access the form and fill it out easily and quickly.
    Thank you in advance,
    ~Kara

Yes, this is the page that the pdf is on.  It's the link that says "Online Ordering Form."

  • PDF form that you can type in and save

I am working to create forms that my student athletes will need to type into and save so that they can upload them to our online pre-participation site. Is there any special way I need to save my Adobe PDFs?  I saved them normally and one student had no problem with this task....I had another try this and it would not allow them to save the file. So after reading online I saved it as a Reader extended, enable more tools and then they could type and save the document. Is this the way to go?  I need them to type in the form, but not mess with the overall outline - just type in the blanks. Thanks

If they're using the latest version of Reader (XI), then you don't need to do anything else. Earlier versions require that you apply the Reader Extended Rights in Acrobat for the file to be savable in Reader. This also has legal implications as to the number of replies you may collect (500).

  • How to make a button on a form that will not appear when printed?

    Hello again!
I have a rather strange request that I got recently from my employeer regarding a form that we are currently working on:
We have a form with a Acrobat created button on it that links to an attachment.  She does not want the button to appear when the document is printed.
    Is this even possible??
    Thanks in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Ashley

You can set the form field to be "Visible but doesn't print" rather than "Visible". This is far easier than the scripting solution.

  • How do I send out a pdf so that others can fill it out and return it via e-mail?

I have been trying to do this for a while and am wondering if I can or if I need a different program to be able to do it (if thats the case please let me knkow which one). I tried making a distribution list and sending it to myself and when I tried to open the link it took me to a black page that said Acrobat.com on it and nothing else. Am I doing something wrong? I even downloaded the latest reader and it still didn't work.

I assume you have figured out how to create a form. You will need to add a submit button. It is best to have the data submitted that you can easily import to the form if needed, or process separately. In Designer, you would select XML submission to a mailto:<address> format. In Acrobat, you would select FDF, XFDF, or XML to a mailto:<address> format. Be aware that email submission is risky in that you need the client machine to be running MAPI, something you have no control over.

  • How do I create an online PDF form that can be filled out by recipient?

I have Create PDF Online and am wondering how I go about creating a document that can be filled out by a recipient.  This would be regarding a questionaire type form where I would ask questions and the recipient fills in the answers.  I know I have received these in the past from other people, but do not know how to do this myself.  I don't know if this is even possible with CREATE PDF ONLINE or if I need to purchase a special Adobe software package in order to do this.
Thank you in advance for any information that any of you can give me.

i'm afraid i can't help you. i've never tried to create a document that can
be filled out. hopefully, someone else can help you.

  • Acrobat Standard 8 - can't save pdf forms

I made a .pdf from LiveCycle and the client has Acrobat Standard 8 and can't save the .pdf form?
Supposedly they have other .pdf forms that they can save?
Is that possible? Would there be something different from my LiveCycle created .pdf that would stop
them from being able to save it?

Ok, I tried to go Under the Advanced menu, choose "Extend Features in Adobe Reader".
I copied images of the errors that I receive.  After I close out of the file, the fil e seems to be saved,
but I need to get rid of those error messages.

  • Creating a pdf form that with document assembly = allowed

I am having trouble creating a print and mail pdf form that i can combine with other pdf documents. I have created a form in live cycle designer. when i try and combine it with other documents it says that the form i have created is protected and cannot be used for this command. I have not explicitly put any security on the form. I have simply created the form and saved it as a pdf. when i open the form with adobe acrobat pro and check the document properties it is always set to "document assembly = not allowed" how do i change this? i have experimented with the security settings and even using a password and allowing changes to the document but nothing seems to change the "document assembly = not allowed" i have adobe acrobat 7.0 professional with Live Cycle Designer. Please Help!

    Brian,
PDF Files made with Acrobat are based on postscript.
PDF Files made with LiveCycle Designer are based on XML and are essentially wrapped in a PDF. Once modified in LiveCycle Designer, you can no longer edit the file directly in Acrobat.
They do not share the same base file type and can not be combined into a single PDF using Acrobat version 7.
One of the new features of Acrobat version 8 - is called packages. Packages allow you to combine files of different types (acrobat and designer) as well as documents with different security settings (also not previously allowed). Each file in the package maintains it's independent identity and settings, wrapped in a new pdf file.
Recommended solution: Upgrade to Acrobat 8 Professional, get the new version of designer, and the ability to use packages.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I purchase reader extensions to save a PDF form that has been filled out in Acrobat Reader?

I have just discovered that in order to save a PDF form that has been electronically filled out in Acrobat Reader, that I have to purchase reader extensions to make this possible.  I would like to speak to someone about the price and how to purchase.
I cannot find a phone number on your site, so I am hoping to get an answer from Adobe this way.
    Thanks,
    Chani

Thanks everyone for responding.  I should have supplied more information.
I was hired by my client to create PDF forms that can be downloaded from their website, filled out electronically in Acrobat Reader, and then saved (with all the form fields filled in) and emailed.
I was supplied with scanned forms as the base for creating the form fields in Acrobat Pro.  These web visitors that will be filling out the forms and emailing them will only have Acrobat Reader, most likely.
I created the forms in Acrobat Pro, and they worked great when I tested them ( in Acrobat Pro) - I could save the form field data.  However, my client has come back to me with numerous complaints from their web visitors - they cannot save the form once they have filled it out in Acrobat Reader and keep the data they have entered.  Instead, they have to print the form physically, scan it, and email it that way (kind of low tech for the year 2013, and not easy for these people).
So, my end goal is to update these forms in Acrobat Pro so they can be filled out by folks only using Acrobat Reader and saved with the form field data intact.  Seems like a no-brainer that Acrobat Pro should have this capability without purchasing additional extensions.  However, in my research online, I have found several posts that suggest that purchasing "Reader Extensions" is the only way to enable Acrobat Pro to be able to do this.
Can someone please clarify if I need to buy something to program these forms in Acrobat Pro to enable other people using Acrobat Reader to fill out these forms and save them with the form fields intact?
If I do need to buy something, what is it exactly?  How do I find out clear, consise, specific information about buying it/the cost/the licensing?  I am a sole owner/employee of a graphic design firm and these forms are for my client, which is a locally-owned regional hospital.
If this needs to move to the LiveCycle forum, fine, but I don't really know what that software is and since I'm only using Acrobat Pro (and the users, Acrobat Reader) I felt this was the appropriate place to post.
Thanks for all of your responses!

  • How do I enable a LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

I have an interactive PDF form that I created in LiveCycle. However, when it is opened with Adobe Reader, the user is unable to save it. They can only print from Reader. How do I enable the LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

You have to add save rights with Acrobat.
Open you form in Acrobat and then save it via File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools.

  • How to save Pdf form localy without internet

How to save Pdf form localy without internet?
I thought in the beginning about advanced user rights and pure saving them on adobe reader but i saw legal notes about 500 user who can legaly save it localy and answer to me (bu they can`t answer to my client who paid me for doing this form).
Other thing is to do Air Application which would collect data from Pdf Form and save it (localy without internet) to use it later.
I thought about that second possibility but i can`t find any clue to do it myself.
    Any help will be appreciated...

    Hi,
Are you downloading responses as PDF forms after forms are submitted? If so, FormsCentral doesn't provide an option to exclude empty fields and you won't be able to save PDF forms without empty fields.
You can use this form to "vote" on popular feature requests, or to add a new one of your own:

  • How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?

How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?  I have provided my clients a lifecycle .pdf form they can use to record data for unique client meetings.  They want the ability to save their completed data whenever they use the form under a unique file name.  I've told them the only way I know how to do this is to print the completed form as a .pdf document and then save it.
Is their a way to save the data to a unique file name without printing the filled form?
Is there a way to reset the form with blank fields after saving? or to add a clear fields button?
    Thanks.

If you reader extend  a pdf using livecycle reader extensions then you can save the filled in data - this is true if you are using Adobe reader to view the PDF's. If you open it in Acrobat then the functionality is already there.
