How to make silverlight run on my mac

I have to download microsoft silverlight on my mac. Once I do how do I make it run?

Microsoft Silverlight IS a Plugin
If your iMac is an Intel iMac and running, at least  OS X 10.5.7 then you can install this plugin.
If you are running OS X 10.5.7 on an older PowerPC iMac, Silverlight cannot be downloaded and won't work.
Are you using this plugin to view Netflix videos on your computer?
You just download it , it will automatically install itself and it works in the background within the web browsers listed in the page I have linked.
Here's the download link

I have downloaded OS X Mountain Lion from the App Store. It took two hours to download but now its not running and I have no idea how to make it run!
Download was complete and I accepted everything and restarted computer but its still running 10.7.5
Any idea how to get OS X Mountain Lion to run?

What you donwloaded was the OS installer. You still have to do the installation.
To get started, double click on the download, then double click again and follow instructions.

It sounds like fans could be running faster; but I want it to do it automaticly.

Download Lubbo Fancontrol for MacBook Pro to help with the fans.

  • How to make Nano NOT appear on Mac desktop as connected drive when I plug in to recharge it? Just want charging, not syncing, and don't want to unmount drive each time.

    I have a 6th generation iPod Nano.
I almost exclusively use it as an FM radio and as a pedometer -- so far I have not loaded any songs onto it for listening, nor do I intend to in the future.
    Here's my problem:
When my Nano runs out of juice, I have to use the charging cord to plug it into to my iMac's USB port to recharge the Nano. However, whenever I do so, two different (unwanted) actions happened:
First, the act of plugging in the iPod auto-launched iTunes, for syncing. I solved this problem by finding the preference check box for launching iTunes when connecting an iPid, and UNchecking the box. That worked, problem solved.
However, the second automatic action is that the iPod appears as a connected drive on the iMac desktop, as any external device with a drive would appear when connected to any Mac. But I have no need for this to be happening -- I don't intend to upload anything to the iPod, nor to sync it, or whatever -- the only reason I ever connect the iPod to the iMac is to RECHARGE the iPod, not to tinker with the contents of what's on it.
The problem is, every time I then want to disconnect the charging cord, I have to manually "unmount" the iPod drive by dragging its desktop icon to the Trash, when then allows the "it is now safe to disconnect your external drive" state to obtain, allowing me to then unplug it without getting a warning message telling me I shouldn't have just disconnected a connected drive without first unmounting it.
This wouldn't be such a bother, except that the 6th generation iPod Nano has a new "feature" which makes it impossible to see how far along the charging is progressing while it is still in the act of charging. Thus, the only way to know if it is has become  fully charged is to unplug it, and look at the battery monitor. While is it still connected and charging, all that displays on the iPod is the "charging now" battery icon, which does not reveal just how the charging is progressing, or if it is fully charged yet. (My iPhone, by way of contrast, displays during charging a battery icon which reveals how far charged it is by that point.)
As a result of this Nano "feature," I often find myself having to connect and disconnect the Nano two or three or more times each time I'm charging it, so I can simply check how far along the charging has gotten, since I want to disconnect it as soon as it has finished charging and get back to using it.
But so far, I have not been able to find any kind of setting or preference which allow me to identify this device as one which I DON'T want to "mount" each time it is plugged in.
All I want to do is just plug in the iPod, and be able to unplug it, without having to to ANY shenanigans on the computer itself. Just plug in = recharging, unplug = not charging any more. Simple.
Question: is there any way to achieve this? Or is it simply not possible, and must I manually unmount the iPod's drive (more than once, usually) each time I plug it in for recharging?

I should also point out that when I connect my iPhone, it DOESN'T appear as a connected drive on the desktop. Not sure how this can be so, since the iPhone also has a drive and also functions as an iPod if I want it to. I must have changed some setting to achieve this non-appearance, but don't remember what I must have done.
    What's the secret?

  • How to make macbook run quicker

My macbook over time just gets slower and slower is there a way to correct this?

Macs should not slow down over time.  Slowness can come from several sources.
How big is your disk and how much free disk space to you have?
Single click on "Machintosh HD" and then press the space bar.
How much RAM memory to you have and which operating system are you running?
Backup:  Make sure you have a recent backup.  You should always have a recent backup and especially when something is wrong.   If you need help setting up a Time Machine backup, please ask.
    Try and SMC Reset.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Did this improve the performance?
Run disk diagnostics with Disk Utility.  This will check if the disk and filesystem are healthy.
Finder > Go > Utilities > Disk Utility
Click on the upper left disk icon.
Does the S.M.A.R.T. status say “Verified”.
If not the disk/SSD is unhealthy and needs to be replaced.
Click on the icon indented below, usually called “Macintosh HD”.
    Verify Disk.
If it finishes with a green “OK” message then all is well with the disk.
If it shows errors in red then you have found a problem to address.
    Boot in Safe Mode.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US
It will boot and shutdown slower than normal.
Does the problem go away in Safe Mode?
There are other tests if these do not find the problem.

  • How to make computer run in closed clamshell (display closed) mode without having an external display

i want to listen song closing my display how to do it any idea???????????

You can run a MacBook Pro with its display closed with the aid of any of several third-party hacks that prevent sleep, InsomniaX being one. If you put your closed and still-running Mac into a padded sleeve, backpack or carrying case that prevents it from ventilating itself, it will overheat and cook itself and/or cause a fire. Therefore, I strongly recommend against using any of the anti-sleep hacks, and if you do so, you do it at your own risk.
A MBP is not an iPod. If you want an iPod, get an iPod.

  • How to make a shortcut on the Mac to Restart in Windows? (Boot Camp)

Okay Ive seen a few of these threads so please dont tell me to look at other ones. Basically I run Flight Simulator X on Windows and my Flight Instruction CD's only work on Windows but all other work I do on the Mac side. I find it a real pain having to shut down, hold option blah blah.. and I really like in Windows where it has "Restart in Mac OS X" Is there anyway to have this on my Mac that says "Restart in Windows"
Preferably an item on the apple menu or as an icon on the desktop etc.
I have seen something about automater telling me to go into system prefs. etc but I honestly do not want to mess about with any of that, people are saying go into Startup Disk and select windows but wouldnt that make windows the default startup?
Please could somebody give me a solution to this... with the least technical 'tasks'. I just want to avoid System Prefs.
    Thanks;

Attention Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Users:
We are working closely with Apple to address a few known issues related to Mac OS X 10.7 and Flash Player 10.3. For a list of known issues, please see the following Knowledge base Article:
    Flash Player
Flash Player may cause higher CPU activity when playing a YouTube video. This issue isossibly related to disabled hardware acceleration.
UPDATE: The final release of Mac OS X 10.7 provides the same support for Flash hardware video acceleration as Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6).  The previous known Issue suggesting that video hardware acceleration was disabled in Lion was incorrect and based on tests with a pre-release version of Mac OS 10.7 that related to only one particular Mac GPU configuration.  Adobe continues to work closely with Apple to provide Flash Player users with a high quality experience on Mac computers.
The Flash Player Settings dialog box doesn't respond to mouse clicks. As a workaround, press the Tab key to move to the Close button and press the spacebar to close the dialog box. While not all settings are available, you can also use the Flash Player native control panel in System Preferences.
Custom native mouse cursors don't animate properly on Mac OS 10.7.
    G,
Thanks for posting that. It sounds like there was an issue, it only involved one type of setup, and they list a work around for it. I'm running the latest version of Flash without issue on 10.6.8.

  • How to make JRE5 run on Win7 with JRE6?

Basically, what I want to do is run .jnlp files with JRE5. Everything else can be JRE6.
On XP, all I had to do was associate .jnlp files with the javaws.exe (Java Web Start) file located in the JRE5 bin folder. That way, everytime I open a .jnlp file it runs with JRE5.
On Win7 (x64), this is not the case. In fact, even if I select "Open with..." and choose the javaws.exe file in the JRE5 bin folder, it STILL runs with JRE6.
Oddly, it works with Firefox. In Firefox, I can select which program to open .jnlp file with. If I select the JRE5 javaws.exe file then it opens correctly with JRE5.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it working on Win7 as I've described?

On Win7 (x64), this is not the case. In fact, even if I select "Open with..." and choose the javaws.exe file in the JRE5 bin folder, it STILL runs with JRE6.
    Try this...
    1. Open a console window.
    2. Modify env var PATH so it does not refer to 1.6.
    3. Use the full path to 1.5 JRE 'java' (not javaws) and then the full path to the jnlp
If that still runs 1.6 then explain how you determined that it is running 1.6.

The problem was, I had moved the Aperture 1.0 application into a new folder (it is placed by default at the top level of the APplications folder), and it seems that the 1.5.2 update installer doesn't recognize it in other locations.
So, when I moved it backt out of the new folder into the Application folder again, everything worked just fine.
