How to make window size same as linked file?

I understand how to make the link and have it open in a new

How can i make fonts bigger in finder menu and safari menus . everything is very small

Zoom works well or:
Sidebar Text & Icons can be set to small, medium or large. > System prefs > General > Sidebar Icon size.. Sorry Lion..
Finder text can be made larger > View > Show view options.
Safari & Mail command + works reasonably well.
Changing the Display resolution > System Prefs > Display may work OK for you.
Third party freeware option > Tinker Tool.
Must admit I wonder if my eyes would cope OK with the HighDef screen on an Air..

I just set up a new IMAC 27" for my mom and she cannot read the menu bars and tabs in Safari. I know how to make the text of the webpage itself bigger, but is there any way to make the text in the menu bars and tabs bigger. Someone sugggested Opera browser. Would that be a better option?

I had the same issue with my 27-inch--here's how I fixed it:
1) Go to System Preferences > Displays and select the "Displays" tab
2) For "Resolution" there are two buttons: "Best for Display" and "Scaled." Select "Scaled."
3) Now you should see a list of resolutions. The default is probably 2560x1440. Change it to 1920x1080.
I don't have great eyes but this setting makes it easy for me to see. It makes all menu bars including Safari about 3/10ths inch wide and the menu lettering close to 1/4-inch tall.

hello, ok i am editing this to make it easier i hope. question why cant i make font bigger than 1296pt. in cs4. my template is 24"x150" for some vinyl i want to cut. cs4 wont let me transform type that big...so how can i accomplish that. i created what i needed in photoshop and reopened in cs4 that worked but now i cant get it to create outlines. what am i doing wrong or not doing at all??? thanks for all the help in advance -nick

You could set your type in Illustrator, convert it to outlines and scale it.
If you want to keep it editable as long as possible, apply a transform effect and scale it that way

How to make Windows stay on top

Hi all
I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a window "Stay on top"
Sometimes when you are copying information from one window to the next you would like one "primary data entry window" stay on top, and a secondary window not overshadow the first when made active. This way you only see the part of the window that you are interested in copying.
Some programs like skype allow you to have the option as "always on top", but I was wondering if Tiger had the same feature for it's windows?
The other way around this problem is to re-size the secondary window, but I was hoping someone could tell me a way to keep a designated window as "always on top"

I think perhaps, that the closest you'll get to it, is by using the 'New Tab'
feature in File, where you can have several windows with quick access available while browsing.

How to make windows 8.1 compatible with dng converter 8.1?

I have installed the DNG Converter 8.1 so that I can view/edit RAW files on Photoshop Elements 12, but Windows 8.1 states "the source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files". I have an Sony Alpha 6000 (version 8.4), and have moved the RAW files into a folder on my C drive. DNG Converter won't work even if I run it on Windows 8, is there no way to make Windows 8.1 compatible with DNG Converter 8.1?

I see that you need the DNG converter 8.4 to convert Sony Alpha 6000 raw files.
Download that version of the DNG converter to replace your version 8.1.

JFrame.setSize () makes window bigger each time

When a window (JFrame or JInternalFrame) is closed I save the results of getSize and getLocation in a HashMap that is persisted using serialization (for later in the same application execution, or for the next time the application is run).
When the same window is opened again I restore size and location from the persisted HashMap. The location restores correctly but the size doesn't work - some windows grow a bit each time they are re-opened.
I have tried get/setSize, contentPane().PreferredSize and various other combinations, dependant upon what I put in the windows (JTable, JTree, JPanels of buttons etc).
I do not want to serialize the window itself as this would take too much baggage with it - all I want is size and location; everything else should be created fresh when the window is re-opened.
Is there an approved (or at least tried and tested) method for doing this. I have found nothing on this forum, several books, nor the otherwise excellent tutorial.
Alternatively is there a good in-depth explanation of how window (and embedded component) sizing actually works? I have not been able to figure this from the source code.

Thanks for the comments - you gave me confidence to try again. It all works fine now.
I need to call pack and THEN setSize. Without pack nothing is displayed (and getSize returns 0,0 even though setSize set a proper value).
A bit of tweaking has sorted it all out.
The picture was clouded because I was trying to work out how big a window should be to display its contents without scroll bars, and then adjust the saved size if the window would grow by less than 20 pixels.

I do not know why the black frame started appearing on my monitor either.
The first time I noticed the problem was when I wanted to show a friend the iTunes Visualizer in full screen. The images appeared confined to the center of the screen with the black frame around them. Later I realized that changing to smaller resolutions than 2560 x1600 also caused the black frame to appear. At the time I was using 10.4.4. Tried all options in iTunes but nothing helped. Then I tried many things such as repairing permissions, ran onyx, reinstalled iTunes, archive and install Tiger, I even erased and zeroed my hard drive and reinstalled my original Panther disc, still no help.
One thing I was fortunate to have done before I noticed this issue was to have made a clone of my OS which was 10.4.2, this OS worked perfectly when I booted from it. This confirmed it was a software issue and not the hardware. After many calls, Applecare wanted to send me a new hard drive, they had not encountered this problem before. The way I finally solved the problem was to use my 10.4.2 clone and copy this to the affected drive. This happened about two months ago and now everything still works as normal.
If you could get the resolutions to work properly, this would probably be the best way to increase the image sizes. I noticed you have an iMac, is that computer working all right. Try resizing the resolutions on that, she may need to use that computer instead for this week.

Previously with Windows XP, I would use the autolog.exe to have the local windows account login transparently while the user would login via their novell credentials. My company would like to roll out Windows 7 now, but unfortuantely, we are unable to make the windows local account log in transparent. I do not want my users to know this password - also it would really confuse them as they are not tech savvy to understand it.
Is there a way that I can make this happen? If you need more information, please ask and I will provide. Not sure what other info may be required here.
I am using Novell Client 2 SP2 - i find the SP3 to be problematic, but if SP3 would resolve this, I am open to the idea.

How to make screen bigger?

Is it possible to make the viewing screen bigger on my site? I added a game and part of it is being cut off. I need step by step instructions if possible.

Depend on a lot of things. First you need to know what is your screen resolution. But more important what is the screen resolution of your visitor. Yo know that I use Google Analytics (may be there is other tools outhere).
I noticed with this tool that most of my visitors were using resolution above 1000px so I decided to bump my site from 710px (default in Iweb) to 1024px (over 50% more). Now my pictures look bigger without being too big (no need to scroll on the left and right). But also I know that some people use lower resolutions so I know that not all visitors will not be happy.

I do not want to use the pre-installed Toshiba Media Player to play DVD's, I want to use the installed Windows Media Player. I cannot change the default DVD player to WMP in Control Panel as the only options are either Toshiba's or Nero's player.
WMP can play CD's, MP3's etc but cannot even read any DVD in the drive. Anyone got any advice on how to do change this?
It;s a Toshiba Satellite Pro C850 with Windows 8 installed

It comes in varying sizes but even the smallest version enables WMP for DVD's
After installing KLite, you right click the DVD drive within Windows and select the "Open With" or "Play Disc" menu option and select Windows Media Player.
You can also just use the Windows Run Box / Search box and enter
dvdplay
which activates windows Media Player DVD menus.
Microsoft hasn't always included DVD playback in Windows and then started offered it as a fee based upgrade for XP and Vista, before finally including DVD playback in Windows 7 in what some Microsoft insiders said was an apology for Vista before removing it again in Windows 8.
