How to manage a site only remotely (ie. without a local copy)

Hello,
I'm using DreamWeaver CS6.
Is there any way to edit HTML files directly from my website (using ftp) into Dreamweaver ? Without having the entire site copied on my local computer ?

Really, I thank you very much for your comments even though my intention was not to start a discussion about backup issues. But - because there is a "but" -, I assure you that I'm already backuping my data as well as possible, every ours, days and week. The way I update my HTML files is very safe. Moreover, I don't think it's a good idear to rely on Dreamweaver for backup (what about MySql data ? Which are, nowdays, more important than everythink). My purpose with my autosave question was that, sometime, you need to do smalls and quick corrections ; and sometime it is not necessary to have the content of your website on a computer.

How to manage two sites from iWeb

Hi all
I've built two different sites with iWeb, my personal site which goes to my .mac server and publishes there, no problem. I now have built another site for my girlfiends family business, and theirs will go to a differente host and server.
The problem I have is that I have both sites now open, each with their own individual pages, etc (they both appear on the left column as headers), but I can't seem to isolate them for publishing purposes. In other words, I'd like to publish my site to .mac, and my girlfriends site to my hard drive for eventual upload to their server.
When I go to publish, whether I select .mac or my hard drive (publish to another folder) it selects both sites at the same time, I.e. I can't publich them individually.
The problem is that I end up with a copy of my personal webpage files on my hard drive, and a copy of their webpage files on my .mac!
A further problem I see is that this publishing process creates just one index.html file, for both pages. So how can I use this html file to point it to their domain??

To add another method to the mix here's how I manage multiple sites. Although they all go to my .Mac account this method can let me post any of them to any other server as I see fit.
One way to handle multiple sites is to use iWebSites. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files. If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want to where I want.

How to post one site only

I have created 3 different sites in iWeb. Two of them I publish to a folder and then via FTP I place them in the appropriate folders at my server. The third is one that I want to publish to my mobile me website. All pretty easy except it won't let me post just one site. Everytime I ask to publish to the ME account I get all three sites. How do I post just one of the sites I've created...

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

How to transfer a site on my HD to a local testing server?

My site, which I developed in Dreamweaver CS3, is currently
all static HTML. I'm making progress in changing it to have some
PHP content, but my initial work is all on my live site -- whereas
I want to be able to do development and testing on a local testing
server. I've successfully set up XAMPP, and am making progress in
developing some pages on a *new* local test site (which I've
installed for local testing at C:/Program Files/xampp/htdocs),
which I've set up to have PHP-based dynamic content. What I *can't*
figure out how to do is to take all of my local content for my live
Website (which is currently at C:/Documents and
Settings/MyName/MySite/) and move it to
http://localhost/ (at C:/Program
Files/xampp/htdocs), so I can can develop and test new dynamic
content for my site locally against my local Web server. I suspect
that there are some simple steps to accomplish this goal, but I'm
pretty new at this, and can't figure it out. Any advice/guidance
will be greatly appreciated!

How to do import of only table data without procedures and synonyms

Hello All,
I want to import only the tables of one database to a new database. I did a table level export of one schema. But along with it the stored procedures,synonyms, views etc are exported. Is there any way to stop them. Or is it possible to import only the tables from the dump created?

How-to install JRE/JDK on remote server without X11

Hi,
I need to install a JRE on my remote server (e.g. Amazon EC2) from a location with slow / limited bandwidth.
Ok, so I cobble a way to get a download of the bin by fudging that I am going to load it to my laptop, then copy and paste the final URL for the bin into WGET on my amazon instance - (Why oh why cant SUN just give me an URL directly to the latest JDK/JRE) e.g.
wget java.sun.com/downloads/jre-latest.bin
Ok - so that took 3.3 seconds at 48Mb/s - great.
chmod .u+x j*
./j*
The box goes into the black hole of death (probably looking for a response on a non existant X

How to display Parent Sites in the breadcrumb without duplicates?

My SP2010 breadcrumb is showing current site>current items under the current subsite.
When I am on the parent site, it shows Home > Home (I would like it to show just Home).
The original v4.master code was:

I hope someone can help.I am really confused and fed up with this.
I need step by step help please?
My daughter downloads apps from her ipad2 all the time ,when we connect her ipad to her itunes and want transfer her apps into library thats where we get stuck. She has ipod touch as well so all her apps shows ther and when we sync it even manually it transfer on her ipod and library.
She wants separate apps for ipod touch and separate apps for her ipad.
How do we do that? Icloud is off and we ticked manually sync but it will still appear in library and ipod touch

It is both off ipod and ipad. It only happens when connecting ipad or ipod via cable into itunes.
I am sure I must be doing something wrong but not sure what

I am organizing my external HD and want to move files NOT COPY them. How do I drag and drop folder contents without Mac automatically copying them to the "drop" location?

I am sorting out all the clutter and duplicate files on my external HD. In doing this I am moving the entire contents of folders to new locations. Some of these folders cointain gigs of info. I do not want to have to spend large amounts of time waiting for hundreds of gigs to copy somewhere then moving the originals to the trash and wait even longer deleting all of them. All I want to do is move the files up a subfolder, but the way Finder goes aobut doing it can be a 400 GB swing taking hours. How do I just "move" them?

I did a global change of permissions for the entire documents account in the currrent user account using the get info and apply to enclosed items.
I think what is happening is that the Documents folder normally carries an "everyone deny delete" ACL, meant to protect it from accidental deletion:
$ ls -lde ~/Documents
drwx------+ 6 t1 staff 204 Oct 9 08:51 /Users/t1/Documents
0: group:everyone deny delete
ACLs are special types of permissions that do not show up in GetInfo, but can get propagated if you click "Apply to Enclosed Items" on a folder that carries them. Affected files that acquire that ACL would require password authentication to move or delete them.
I think the following Terminal command (copy and paste it) should remove such ACLs from items within the Documents folder:
chmod -RN ~/Documents/*

To my understanding you should be able to attach the same cryptomap to the other "outside" interface or perhaps alternatively create a new crypto map that you attach only to your new "outside" interface.
Also I think you will probably need to route the remote peer ip of the VPN connection towards the gateway IP address of that new "outside" and also the remote network found behind the VPN connection.
If you attempt to use VPN Client connection instead of L2L VPN connection with the new "outside" interface then you will run into routing problems as naturally you can have 2 default routes active at the sametime (default route would be required on the new "outside" interface if VPN Client was used since you DONT KNOW where the VPN Clients are connecting to your ASA)

I have to enable SSL optimization for a specifc HTTPS website only and for a specific remote site only (branch office).
The scenario is as follows:
Multiple sites connected via a MPLS cloud. Each site has its own WAE device (module or appliance).
There is a central manager and core WAE in the main site (central site).
There is a website accessed via HTTPS by all the remote sites. This specific website is hosted within the main site.
For only a specific branch office (remote site) we want to enable SSL optimization for this specific website.
I saw this great and useful doc, but I still have some concerns.

Basically, according to I see, I should do the following if I want to enable SSL optimization with the entire environment:
- export the certificate and keys;
- enable secure store in the central manager;
- In the remote and core WAE, Check "initialize CMS secure store" and "Open CMS Secure Store";
- In the core WAE, import the CA certificate (upload PEM file);
- In the core WAE, create the SSL Accelerated Service by:
    --importing the client certificate and the key;
    -- Match interesting traffic;
    -- Put the SSL Acc Service in service;
- Finally, make sure SSL acceleration is enabled in both remote and core WAE.
The concerns:
I only need to enable SSL optimization for a specific location accessing a specific website.
Should the steps above work fine If I enable the SSL service for this specific website in the core WAE and enabling secure store only in a single remote site (brach office)?
how will the other remote locations behave?
Will they access the website normally with no SSL optimization even passing thru the core WAE?

How to prevent computers to logon remote site's domain controllers

We have 3 sites (HQ, remote site A and remote site B) in a Windows 2008 r2 domain, the clients are win XP and win 7, if remote site A's DC and HQ's DC are offline, we don't want remote site B's DC to authenticate
remote site A and HQ client, how to prevent remote site B's DC to authenticate remote site A and HQ client except remote site B local client?

You might consider configuring ACLs on your firewalls and network equipment to filter this traffic. However, the idea of having multiple DCs is to have HA while in this case you are trying to avoid having benefit of this feature. For Windows clients, they
will keep using cached credentials as long as they cannot reach a DC for authentication.
