How to manage eBook's collection by iTunes?

Few days ago, while I googling for How to manage eBook, I found that iTunes is capable to do that.
* So, I decide to use iTunes ... cos my Music was manage by an iTunes too. I used iTunes from 4.x until the latest 9.2.
* I stop updating when iTunes' size is bigger and bigger than before.
So, I'd tried to add my eBook collection (Mostly in PDF) to iTunes.
Firstly, my music was stored in D: Music > iTunes and my eBook was stored in D: Document > eBook
Usually, in order to add a Music, I used File > Add Folder to Library > iTunes
In order to add an eBook, I used File > Add Folder to Library ... and I change D: Music > iTunes to D: Document > eBook.
But everytime ... after I add the eBooks, the items was appeared in the Library ... but nothing happens with both my D: Music > iTunes and D: Document > eBook  ... is my step's RIGHT? Please help me ...
Thank you

Checked already. After importing from D: Data > Documents > eBook ... there is NOTHING change in the following folder:
* C: My Documents > Music > iTunes
* D: Data > Documents > eBooks
* D: Data > Multimedia > Music > iTunes
So, it means ... my eBook was listed in iTunes but NOT added into D: Data > Music > iTunes
While in order to added a Music ... I used File > Added the Folder to Library > directed to my FDD and choose the folder and "click" > and all music's file was copied and manage within D: Data > Music > iTunes
While in order to added an eBook ... I used File > Added the Folder to Library > directed to my FDD and choose the folder and "click" > and all eBook was listed in iTunes ... but there are no data copied into D: Data > Music > iTunes. So it means the datas were still stored in FDD.
If I unplugged the FDD, iTunes is unable to open the eBooks

  • Desperate for advice on how to manage a music collection with iTunes

    Hi All
    Some advice please...... :o)
    To elaborate:
--> I want to keep my music in a directory sorted by folders and subfolders that I create and have the ability to tell itunes where to put the MP3s it Rips from my CDs
--> I want to point itunes at this folder (not import! the songs... why have 2 copies of the same thing... really silly!)
--> I want to use itunes to edit tags where necessary and use it to create playlists
--> Lastly I want to activate iTunes to have a directory view (if such a feature exists) and move between the playlists view and this view at will... Also in the list of music on itunes how would i activate a column showing where the music is stored (i.e. the actual music directory)....
    Then.....
--> I want to be able to move the folder and the itunes db file to any machine install itunes ... point itunes at the directory of music and the itunes db and presto all my stuff nicely sorted and ready to go...
Sorry this is how my brain works and iTunes just seems to want to do it's own thing...
My wife has an iPod mini... and I though it was cool till I started using iTunes... and now I'm considering an iRiver for myself rather.... I get the feeling that apple is trying to lock me into a way of doing things, be it that they are nervous about piracy or want you to purchase songs/videos etc....
Now I couldn't really care about the iTunes store.... my collection is based on CDs that I've collected over years and years (all above board!)... and iTunes is just frustrating the living daylights out of me!
    Show me the light...
    Thanks
iPod Mini   Windows XP Pro   iTunes 6.0

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General has the location of the iTunes music folder. That is where ripped CDs will go.
The My Documents\My Music\ folder is a special windows folder. If you want to move that, it might be easiest for you to use TweakUI, google for it.
I don't know about the folder view.

  • Why can't I manage my iBook collections within iTunes?

    Hi,
I manage my ebooks on my iOs devices within collections using the iBook app. I'm surprised to find that my iTunes software on my mac doesn't allow me to organize ebooks by collection though -- I have to do everything one at a time on the ipad.  Very frustrating, and it seems like a very stupid design flaw.
Does anyone know how to manage collections via iTunes?
    Thanks,

Thanks for the reply, but you didn't read my question apparently.
Yes, there is an Books tab. Great.
However, I can't seem to manage any collections via iTunes -- only on the iOs version of iBook. Since iTunes is meant to sync with iBook, then I would think that I could manage the core features such as collections via iTunes as well. This doesn't seem to be the case.
In short, is there a way to manage iBook collections via iTunes. Or.... do I need to go through my books (all 178 of them) one by one and manually place them into collections on my ipad -- which would be a huge pain.

  • How to manage two iphones on one itunes

when i plug in my fathers i phone in to my computer it wants to replace my iphone with his. i just need instructions on how to have to devices on one itunes

    Easy.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library. Each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes, which is selected under the various tabs for the device's sync preferences with iTunes.

  • Using family sharing, how does one view and download songs from a family member's collection in itunes?

Using family sharing, how does one view and download songs from a family member's collection in itunes?

When you click on your device you are presented with the pages
    Summary
    Info
    Apps
    Tones
    Music
    Movies
    TV shows
    Books
    Photos
To remove Audiobooks depending on the type of Audiobook ie a series of mp3 files you will find under music and probably have to deselect the album name to remove it. I don't have any of these as I download from Audible or I use Audiobook Builder to stictch together mp3 files into m4b files. To find these Click on Books you will immediately see a section for books (in reality ebooks). Scroll down past that and you will see Audiobooks where you can select and deselect. Deselect the required Audiobooks and Click Sync

  • Can i manage ibook collections on itunes, rather than on the ipad

can i manage ibook collections on itunes, rather than on the ipad.

did you mean, iTunes Store and then Books?  thats the only thing i can find (following your notes above).
what I am trying to do is add PDF documents to iBooks and organise them into collections.
however, i have found a work around:
    1. transfer the PDFs to the library (they go into Books automatically)
    2. highlight/select the PDFs that I want to group
    3. right click, get info, info tab
    4. create a Genre.
doing this method creates categories.  not as good as collections, but this will do for now.
if anyone can tell me how to create collections for iBooks (using iTunes - not iBooks on the iPad); please reply.
    thanks anyway.

  • How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone? Can this be done?

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.
    Kindest Regards,
    Phil T.

You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

  • How do you manually manage podcasts with the new iTunes?

Like the subject line says: How do you manually manage podcasts with the new iTunes?
With the previous version of iTunes, when I plugged in my iPod, I could select the iPod, select podcasts, and manually delete episodes. With the new iTunes, I can't select individual episodes when looking at my iPod through iTunes. Is my only option to Sync? If so, why is that my only option?
This question probably has a simple answer, and I'm just not seeing it.

    Rock,
I think I figured out a way to do what you want to do - which is the same way that I use Itunes with my Ipod. (My Itunes libary was destroyed last year so I can no longer auto synch my Ipod as I would lose thousands of songs).
Funnily enough, I discovered this new way of manually moving podcasts while trying to figure out what cpragman was trying to say (I never could - he must be smarter than me, as I couldn't get his method to work).
    1. Open up your Itunes in your regular Library view. Choose Pocasts from the left hand side (either in the sidebar if you have that enabled, or from the little "radio" icon if you don't.)
    2. Mouse to the podcast you want to place on your Ipod.
    3. Right-click it.  A long menu will pop up.
    4. Move to the "Add to Playlist" option.  As you hover, all your playlists will be visible. But at the very top will be the name of your Ipod itself (whatever you named it originally).  Choose THAT name, and voila! That podcast will now copy to your Ipod and be easily available when you disconnect.
A nice feature of this method is that you can shift-click several podcasts at once and do the same thing, and all your selected podcasts will copy over (if you're like me and update your Ipod only every few weeks).
Hope this helps - let me know if it works for you!

I have just updated my phone in icloud and I have lost all my data including my large music collection from itunes. How can I recover my music and phone list?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Can I create and manage collections in itunes instead of on the ipad?

Can I create and manage collections in itunes instead of on the ipad? I have hundreds (maybe thousands) of PDF files for technical work items that I need to categorize and use on my ipad but it is a bit cumbersome to manually move them one at a time on the ipad.

While you can add pdf files to iTunes it is not really intended to be used for organizing things other than a music collection.  It will only accept PDF files and media (audio, movie) files.  On the other hand if you can creatively come up with a way to make it work for you then go for it.

If it is second hand, try putting it in recovery mode, and restoring it with itunes on a mac or pc.

  • How to manage devices on my itune account?

My itunes account has 1 synced device which is my ipad 2nd gen! I also have a ipod 5th gen which i would like to add to my itunes account. Ive read the instructions how to add a device to your account but ive had no success. For some reason it doesnt show the device in the "manage devices" section on the itunes settings. I have tried syncing the ipod and i have also restored the ipod but this has still not worked.

    Have you purchased anything?
It is automatic.  You need do nothing.
Itunes verifies your account using your credit card details.  That does not mean that it will charge it.

  • How to manage Music Videos and Podcasts of my iPod manually in iTune?

Can anyone tell me how to manage Music Videos and Podcasts of my iPod manually in iTune? Because I can't see the Music Videos and the Podcast section in iTune under Device when my iPod is connected to my computer. Thanks

iTunes doesn't have a separate *Music Videos* section. In iTunes these are just part of the main Music library. To manually drag a music video to yout iPod drag it onto the iPod or a compatible playlist. To remove, look for it in Music on the iPod and delete.
I think podcasts only work properly when placed on the iPod via the sync tabs. If you manually drag and drop then the files may get treated as general audio & video files.
