How to manage FaceTime on multiple devices on the same apple ID

So I have an ipad 2 and an iphone 4s. Both are under the same apple ID. When my friends try to FaceTIme me, I only get the call on my ipad. Is there a way to to get the call to go to my phone? Or at least an option to chose which device the call goes to?

Go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive on all but one device and add a unique email address on each device and delete the commone Apple ID email device
If there is also an iPhone with iOS 6 associated with the Apple ID, uncheck the phone number on all but the phone.

  • HT204053 If I've signed up multiple devices on the same apple ID how can i change them into different individual ID's?

Hello, I have multiple devices that i've used the same apple ID for. I was curious to know if I can change each of them into something different?

You can migrate a device to a new account with a new ID.  To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.

  • HT2693 How to download pictures from multiple iPhones with the same Apple ID?

I have multiple iPhones (e.g. iPhone 4S, iPhone 5) registered under the same Apple ID however i only manage to download the pictures in my iPhone 5 via iCloud.
How do I retrieve the remaining photos that was uploaded to iCloud previously from my older iPhones with the same Apple ID?
    Pls help!!!

    Hi edristiew,
Are the photos that you are referring to still in Photo Stream? Remember, Photo Stream has limits which are outlined in this article:
    iCloud: Photo Stream limits
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4858
If the photos are still stored in Photo Stream, this resource may answer your questions about how to extract them (Mac or PC):
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ

If the photos are no longer in Photo Stream, but are in your camera roll, you can import them to your computer:

  • HT204053 how do i set up different devices on the same apple Id without merging the contacts from the separate phones

can i set up multiple iphones on the cloud without merging all contacts?

Not if they are all syncing contacts with the shared account.  You could allow them to merge, then create separate groups for each person's contacts on icloud.com.  Then each person can adjust their settings to only show the group that their contacts belong to and hide the rest.
Another option is to keep the devices on the same shared primary account, and add different secondary account to each person's devices by going to Setings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and enter a separate ID.  Then each person can turn on contacts syncing in their secondary account and leave contacts syncing turned off in the shared primary account (in Settings>iCloud).

  • Question about multiple devices on the same Apple ID

I am currently an iPhone 4S user and have one Apple ID.
I intend to buy the new iPad soon and share the same Apple ID so that I do not need to keep switching accounts. However I have a question.
If I use both devices for iMessage, and if a friend of mine sends me an iMessage, will it appear on both devices? Or just the iPhone/iPad alone?
Also if I backup the data using my iTunes account to the new iPad, will I still use the same iCloud (5GB) or will I be given double (additional 5 on the tablet)?
    Thanks.

You could do as my wife and I do. We share an Apple ID for iTunes (we have 3 IDs. One for her, one for me, and one for purchases. You can do this with 2. One for you and purchases, one for your brother). Log into everything on your iPhone with your Apple ID. Log into only iTunes/App Store/iBook Store on the iPad with your Apple ID. If you want your brother to have his own iMesage ID, you can use that separately of say an iCloud login (log in to your iCloud account, but turn everything off except find my device. Then lock it with restrictions by turning off changes to location services and accounts).
iPhone: ID 1 logged into iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, iTunes/App Store/iBookStore
iPad: ID 1 logged into iCloud (find my device only), iTunes/App Store/iBookStore
ID 2 logged into iMessage, FaceTime, Mail/Contacts/Calendars

  • Change Apple ID on one device only. Currently have multiple devices sharing the same apple id.

    Hi
I currently have three devices sharing one Apple ID. Ipad (Work) Iphone (Wife) & Ipod Touch (Son)
I have purchased an iPhone for Christmas and want to migrate the ipod to a new Apple ID. I haven't created the an ID for the phone yet but just wondered what the easiest solution would be? Would it be a case of creating a new ID on the phone, then signing into the iPod with this ID. I understand whatever has been downloaded to the Ipod will no longer be available, but wondered if there were any solutions to this problem.

You can have media from more than one account on an iOS device. Note that
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
I would set up the iPhone by:
iOS: Transferring information from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
Then on the iPod yocan either erase it and set it with the new ID or:
Use the new ID on iPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases if you want to

  • Multiple devices on the same Apple ID.

I just bought my wife an iPad Mini.  I would like to be able to keep the two iPads from talking to each other (iCloud).  Do I need to establish another Apple ID for her iPad?
I still want her to be able to link to iTunes, where we both have our music.
What is the best way to do this?

Keep your existing AppleID for the iTunes Store and AppStore on both devices, and then setup a new AppleID for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime just for your wife's iPad so those services remain independent.

How do you separate multiiple ios devices using the same apple id account for Face Time calls and iMessaging?

The only way I have seen is to have each device use a if fervent email account, if they all are on the same email the FaceTime connection is either to a phone number or to an email address.  If they ar all on the same email, it is up to the user to decide which to use.

  • We had one family apple id. I want to keep all devices on the same apple id for itunes but separate ones for everything else.  How do I change the others now.  We have 3 iphones and an ipad.

We had one family apple id.  I want to keep all devices on the same apple id for itunes but separate for everything else on the cloud. How can I change the other apple ids now? We have 3 iphones and an ipad.

Hi, thank you for this post.  I hope you might be able to help me too?
I am relatively new to apple (have an iPad) and having been a PC user for years I was pleasantly surprised with the apple experience and am now trying to work out the best set up for me, my husband and young son as I am buying them both of them apple products this Christmas.  New Mac laptop/ ipad for hubby and then an ipod touch for my son oh and a new mac laptop for me. We are also thinking of moving from Blackberries to iPhones. Yes we seem to be hooked! but i am unsure about the home family set up and how to replace my PC network that I run off an 8TB server.
In reading the forums I keep seeing people talk about problems they have with two apple IDs and trying to merge them. I have also heard about a family ID allowing us to share apps legally.  I am really nervous of setting us up wrong and then having problems later and hence i am now looking for some advice on how to share as much as we can legally but also make usage practical and not invading each others privacy. thoughts so far:
Music - I think we are happy to share the same music and access using one ID (we currently don't buy much music from apple but have lots of CDs we share).
Photos - It would be nice to share photos - as long as my son or husband cannot accidentally delete photos of mine (which is my biggest concern). I currently load all camera photos onto my 8TB storage box as the network owner and my husband has full access to copy any photo to his laptop but can never delete the original copies by accident.
Apps - If possible i would like us to share these but they are cheap enough these days to separate if really needed. Would be good to share licence for pages etc though
cloud, contacts, facetime, email -  this is what is making me consider separate IDs or learning how to have multiple users in one apple ID - I do not want to have to share synced contacts with my husband. I have near 300 contacts now through work etc and he will not want them plus i will not want his or him being able to delete mine by mistake. and then for email and facetime, well I want to give him his privacy so I do not receive his messages etc. especially now that we are considering switching to iPhones
Then last but not least, i don't know the best solution for my son. he is only 7 years old so even though I don't want to pay for things again I don't want him being able to download "just any" app from the purchased icon in Appstore. Also, is there a child friendly setting to prevent him from viewing inappropriate content on the internet?
Appreciate I have asked a lot of questions here but I am looking for any genuine advice out there. Thank you or other potential advisers in advance.
