How to manage file information?

Is there any way to change the settings of the itunes music folder and the artist/album folders to display files by artist and song name, as opposed to track number and song name?
ex, instead of: 01 - stairway to heaven
I want it to display as: led zeppelin - stairway to heaven
any ideas or solutions?

You would have to go to the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced tab > General sub-tab and uncheck Keep iTunes Music folder organized.
You can the do with the files what you will but - be forewarned - you will have to be careful with what you do or else risk iTunes losing track of files, requiring you to redirect iTunes to them.
The best strategy - or certainly the easiest - with iTunes is to let it have its way with how it chooses to name and organize files. Don't let it be a concern to you and limit your interface with your music to the iTunes Library display where you can name the tracks and organize them as you like it.

  • How to change file information in ADE?

I am having trouble loading eBooks into ADE with missing book information. I would like the books to be searchable after they are input into my Nook, but when I load the books into ADE some of the information fields are blank (author, title, etc.). I don't see an "edit file info" button anywhere and when I change the file info in Explorer, it still imports incorrectly. How can I edit file information in ADE so my books can be easily searcheable in my Nook?

    Thank you for advice.
I know that I can create epub files with fonts included in them.
My question was- how to refer in the epub to external font file, that ADE would understand and display,
doing that would let me keep overall file size of my book library significantly less, because I would not need to include same fonts in every book.
I am able to do it on the devices, I am able to do it in Sony Reader Library, but PC version of Adobe Digital Editions does not work the same way. All I need is to  know where to put external fonts on my PC so that I could refer to them from inside the epub and that ADE would find and display them.
Though I do appreciate the attention, I'd double the appreciation if you read the question before offering the answer.

  • How to manage files in ipad

How can we manage files in ipad?

If you are used to a Windows computer and now have an iPad, you might be thinking the same thing.  iOS doesn't want you to worry about files on your iPad, so everything is run through the apps themselves.
If you need a bit more control of your files, you might like FileManger Pro, it's 4.99, but it will manage them through Dropbox, iCloud, etc.  Everything is now run throught the cloud usually, which means you might have to pay for Cloud Storage with a Apple device.  Hence cloud storage is popular these days, and also dangerous if you know a little about hacking.
Here are your file management options through another app you download with the App Store,
Best File Management with iPad, iPhone:  http://bit.ly/X2KPHb
Now if you do have a Windows, or a Mac Computer, plug it into your USB on your computer and install iTunes Software.  It will lManage your files through the iTunes Software.  First on iTunes go to your iPad button on the top right, then click on your Menu where it Says Apps, and manually control the Files from there.
Dropbox is a helpful for a lot of this and the File Manger Pro will integrate the file management there, so it's worth the 4.99 for that option too, it also integrates with the iCloud and other Cloud option you may have.
Here is my Blog, I hope to write more posts like this in the future.

  • Understanding how to manage files

Ok, so I have a scratch disk (video drive) that i created Final Cut Pro Documents. And on my boot disk is FCP Projects. I set the scratch disk for audio and video to go to final cut pro documents.
Now, Im not importing video through a camcorder or a tape. I'm dragging and dropping a .mov onto the project. My question is, why doesnt this .mov get copied into the Final Cut Pro Documents folder on the video drive when I drop it in and render it. Isn't it supposed to do that so I don't have to worry about keeping that .mov?

No, it isn't. The Scratch disk is where FCP manages media that it captures. If you tell it USE THIS DRIVE, it will capture, render and playback from that drive. When you import a file that already exists, FCP merely notes where it is and makes a clip in the browser that keeps track of that location. So if it is on your System drive, FCP will read it from the system drive.
If you want it on the Scratch Drive, copy it there first, THEN import it.
FCP is not AVID. Your thinking reflects the Avid way of doing things. Which isn't bad...it is just different. Often times better, especially when it comes to stills.

  • Resize windows and manage files in save/open dialogs?

    1. How to resize windows by dragging any border or corner?
    2. How to manage files via a Save/SaveAs or Open dialog (rename, delete, copy other files, etc...)?
My search on these two things only comes up with comparisons and debates about Win vs Mac. Not relevant to the questions! I already run Win XP in Fusion when I have to for work. I don't want to run Windows; I just want to eliminate a couple Mac shortcomings since Apple hasn't. Yet. Maybe it has to do with patents...
Anyway, does anybody know of a utility or other way to enable these functions in Mac OS 10? (I've tried Pathfinder; it doesn't quite do the trick.)

I believe you will find a couple of third-party utilities that provide some enhancements for windows. As for file dialogs I can only recommend Default Folder X. You will find these at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • How to manage video files?

    Hi!
I have installed the development media server, played arround with some of the demos and now i'm looking for the possibilty to manage my VOD video files. But i can't find any tool, or informations delivered by the server how much video files are in the vod directory.
Do i need an extra tool?
    Thx!

Okay - so i have to code something - the server doesn't deliver any informations about the video files by an webservice or by http? There is no possiblity in the administraion API to get this information?
Is it possible to say that the video file "example.flv" is only avaible for streaming in the vod directory between 08:00 am and 05:00 pm?

  • How to manage high score file

    Hello,
I have made i little game in CVI, in the end of the game user get a score base on the levels he passed and the level of difficulty.
As this is a school assignment i have to have a score board. I've made score board using a table and i read arguments from a txt file.
All I read is the name of the player and his score.
The trouble that I'm having is to check the txt file and see if the new score of the user can be put in the score board.
I need to known how I check if user's new score need to be put into the score txt file, and how to put it there.
    Thanks in advacne!

    Hello Slavik87!
If I understand your question correctly, want to are asking is how to read the text file, retrieve the highest scores from it and update the file again.
If you are asking about which functions to use, these are some functions you can use to perform the file operations:
    fopen, to open the file
fputs, to write a string to the file
fgets, to get a string from the file
fseek, to navigate through the file
    fclose, to close the file
Here are some suggestions about how you can manage the information in your text file:
Insert each new entry (name, score) on a separate new row, optionally using separators:
    John Doe, 10
    Kelly Smith, 43
    Kevin Brown, 4
After reading these lines from disk, you would have to store the entries in some data structures (e.g. lists, structures) for your application to manage.
For optimization, you can also sort the rows based on the highest score, this way, when you want to retrieve the highest scores, these are already situated at the beginning of the file. However, when you update the rows, you would have to switch places of rows, when a person will have a higher score than the previous item(s).
    Best regards!

  • How to manage huge (3 gb+) files in photoshop

I have started creating 3gb+ files in CS2 photoshop and my computer is taking 3 minutes to open and 10 minutes to save, etc - driving me mad with the delays. My system (3.166 mhz core duo, ASUS P5K SE/EPU motherboard, 4GB Kingston DDR2 800 RAM, Quadro FX540 video card) copes well with 300MB files but not with these ones.
Recently I moved my OS to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit in the hope that things would improve but any change was marginal.
The files are multi-layered designs, 150 dpi, about 16 feet by 10 feet and 1.8GB flattened when they are printed.
Whilst I know that the designs are pushing the boundaries/restrictions of photoshop I would appreciate any views of members who have figured out how to manage huge files. Any suggestions welcomed, whether hardware/software upgrades, photoshop hints (but the dpi and size cannot change), etc.

    Thanks,
you've all been helpful. My files were being saved as Photoshop not tiffs but I found a 30 day free trial of CS4 Photoshop and that seems to be making a difference.  It looks like I'll have to purchase that along with some more ram.  My computer is a money pit!
    Thanks again

  • How to View/manage Files on Internal Storage?

Does anyone know how to view/manage files on the Droid Mini? I did find a list of 'Misc. Files' in 'Settings' under 'Storage'. But it only gives the option to delete. My old phone had a 'Files' app (that came on the phone) where I could view/manage all files. I'm sure I could just plug into my laptop, but I would like to have file access on my phone. Is that even possible? Is there a *good* App I could upload perhaps? Any suggestions?
    Thanks =)

  • How do you convert managed files to referenced files?

I have exported all the files that I mistakenly saved to my aperture library.
since I've exported them by year and month I can easily incorporate them into my referenced files on various external hard drives.
but how do I now actually get the managed files in the aperture library out of the aperture library? (I am trying to make the aperture file smaller so that it can more easily stay on my laptop).
and is there a way to get rid of the managed files without having to reimport all the files and reimport all the metadata …

    As I understand it:
You had a bunch of original image files and imported them into AP using managed.
At this point the original files are totally separate from AP, since AP has copies of the originals in its library file (a package). If you relocate, AP will not put the files back where they were, especially since you have moved some files around in the database.
If you haven't done much editing to the masters, consider creating a new library and a new import. Otherwise, try relocating a small amount of your projects to see how AP sets up the folders on the disk.
But AP will not automatically write the masters back to where the originals were - the relocate process involves you indicating where the files will go. As I recall, you have to choose a folder structure from several choices and these may not parallel the originals. Plus, as I said above, since you have moved files around the database, you will definitely not get the same layout as the originals.

how can I view information about an image, such as the file name and exposure,  on the Ipad?

You can't with the built-in Photos app, but there are apps such as iPhoto which allow you to see the exposure details (aperture, shutter speed, focal length, ISO). PhotoMeta also shows you that info

  • How to Manage Archive Files in Oracle 10g

    Dear all
I have 10g Database server running in Archive Mode, there are huge number of archive files have been increased ,
    (1) how can i find old and obsoleted Archive files that will not be needed for recovery in future.so that i can delete them inorder to free space.
    (2) How to manage Archive Files .
    Kindly help
    Thanks
    Regards
    Farnaw

    Hello,
    (1) how can i find old and obsoleted Archive files that will not be needed for recovery in future.so that i can delete them inorder to free space. It depends on your Backup policy.
If you use RMAN you can follow the advices previously posted, if you use "user managed" Backup then, you don't need the
log files archived before the begining of the last full backup of your database.
To know when the archived log was generated and the first change included in it, you can query the v$archived_log as follow:
    alter session set nls_date_format='DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS';
    select recid, name, first_change, first_time, completion_time
    from v$archived_log;
    (2) How to manage Archive Files . You must backup the archived logs so as to be able to apply them. After making a safe backup of them on a tape, they can be
    deleted from disk.
Of course you can also keep the last archived logs on your disk (beside of backup them on tape) so that you don't have to
restore them and save time if you need them.
It depends on your needs and the free space you have.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin
