How to manage music from WD My Cloud in iTunes

I'm using a Western Digital My Cloud and stored the main part of my music collection at this place. With iTunes I am able to play these files but I can not manage them. I can't copy them or add informations or covers. Furthermore I cannot delete files that are double. Can anybody help me ?

Now I've found the solution. WD My Cloud sold, Apple Time Capsule installed. Now I can manage my whole music library in iTunes on Time Capsule without problems.

  • How to manage music from an external hdd on iTunes?

    Hello everyone.
I will try to keep it simple in order to be easy to understand...
I have my entire music on an External Drive: WD MY PASSPORT.
I found around here that, if I press OPTION while I move a music folder to itunes, it doesn't copy the music to the itunes folder which was great. Then I found that was an option on properties that allowed me to unable the "auto-copy" of the music I load on itunes to the itunes folder. So that was pretty useful.
BUT the problem I am facing now is the fact that, if my music files doesn't have the right information on them, they load in a disordered way on itunes and I can't modify their info from itunes because it is shown as blocked.
SO! how can I manage my music (manage = modify their info in order to arrange them in the right albums) without copying it to my mac??
I need to do this because, I still having a macbook pro with a 750gb hdd but I am looking foward to get an SSD, so I can't have it loaded with all my music
    Thanks!!

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions

  • How to stream music from an Airport Disk to iTunes?

I have a new Airport Express (802.11n) and have a Maxtor hard drive hooked up as an Airport Disk. It's all networked and working fine, except I can't figure out how to stream songs from the hard drive (rather than import them into iTunes). Went to the Genius Bar, but they didn't know what I was talking about. Any ideas how to do this?

I'm currently doing this in the following way.
    1. Copy your "Music" folder over to one of the external drives (I'd recommend connecting directly to the drive through USB if you can, since its faster).
    2. Hold down the option key when you open iTunes. It will ask you whether you want to make a new library or select one.
    3. Select the iTunes folder on the drive after you have that mounted again through the network.
Voila, your music is stored remotely, adding music will go to the new drive.

  • How to transfer music from one account to another

I created a new apple id account and I want to transfer my music from my previous account to my new one. How do I do that?

    Navsamm,
You can't.  Music purchased from iTunes is associated in perpetuity (like, forever) to the account from which it was originally purchased.  There is not a way to change it.
It is possible, but clumsy, to manage music from multiple accounts.  Unless you have some unusual requirement, it is best to use just a single account.

  • I recently had to completely restore my laptop, so I lost the music on my itunes. It's still on my iphone, but how can I keep the music I already have and continue to add more music from the newly set up itunes again?

I recently had to completely restore my laptop, so I lost the music on my itunes. It's still on my iphone, but how can I keep the music I already have and continue to add more music from the newly set up itunes again? Is there actually a way to do this? I can't help but wonder what the stupid icloud is for if my music is still somewhere in the 'cloud' but it's zero help for restoring music when it's lost on a computer....any help even a site that get's around apple would be great!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good, you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to your computer.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You can also redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • How do I put my music from my iPod Touch to iTunes on my computer?

okay, I read a lot of questions in a similar format but nothing has helped. Here is my situation and what I have done.
I have an iPod Touch and my computer crashed, I had to restore my system completly. I thought I had backed up my iTunes but I did not back up all of my content. However, the music I did not back up are on my iPod. How can I put my music from my iPod to my iTunes WITHOUT erasing my music I have on my iPod? Some of the music on my iPod I do not have anymore so I can't erase my music I have on my iPod.
I tried to "authorized" my computer/iTunes to my iPod but a pop up came up and said my computer was "already authorized". I also tried to back up my iPod but that did not do anything. I also went under iTunes and checked marked "manually manage music" but nothing works.
    What can I do?

Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

How i can download my backup data? And how to manage the data on i Cloud?

You can't download an iCloud backup, except to restore it to your device should you ever need to.
iCloud data can be managed within the apps on your iPad.  Any changes to the data within the apps corresponding to the data you are syncing with iCloud will take place in iCloud.  You can also manage some of this data on icloud.com from your computer.

  • How to retrieve music from ipod without syncing it

So my computer was messed up and I'm missing a bunch of music so i was needing to get the music files back. I have them on my ipod but i cant view them in itunes unless i sync the ipod which would erase the songs not on the computer and defeat the purpose of what i'm trying to do. I have the 'manually manage music' option checked and when i open up my ipod file from my computer it doesn't have the music files only pictures and stuff. I know it's possible to get the music without erasing it but i forget how and its really annoying, so how would i do so?

Here is the way about how to recover music from iPod
Assuming you're using a Windows 7 or 8 computer here.
Go to the start menu > type in hidd > open 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' > check the circle in that says Show hidden files, folders, and drives. > Click apply.
Now plug your iPod in. Go to Computer > click on eg. 'Azrielrain's ipo (H:)' or whatever shows up that looks like that > iPod_Control > Music > The files underneath that.
Now in those files will be mp3 or mp3 variants of your music, they will NOT however have the original names given to them. You can copy the files to your desktop, or music folder. That is pretty much the closest you'll get to being able to salvage your music from your iPod. Or you can use Data Recovery to help you recover your iPod music.

  • How to manage my apps on the cloud?

How to manage my apps on the cloud?

Your purchased content from the iTunes, App, and iBook stores have nothing to do with your iCloud account.  Since everything is already stored online in the stores themselves, it would be silly to waste your iCloud space storing them again.
You "manage" your purchased content from the account page in the appropriate store, where all your purchases are listed.  if available for re-download (most things are), there will be a little cloud icon to download them (note the icon implies online storage generally, NOT your personal iCloud account).
You can also download file copies of all your purchases onto your computer, and manage them there (handy for keeping older versions of apps that might disappear from the store when an update replaces them).
