How to manage Podcasts as normal files?

I have Podcasts that I have updated and auto-deleted regularly. Sometimes, I want to treat a few files differently, and save them or put them in smart playlists while not having them show up on the main Podcast menu of mine. However, as soon as I delete them from my Podcasts folder they disappear from everywhere else. How can I stop that?
Alternatively, if I right-click an individual episode and mark it to not be auto-deleted, will it apply to just that episode, or the entire Podcast?

I'm marking this answered to get rid of it and I made another thread on the subject anyway. I'm still really annoyed that this can't be done though.

  • How to manage huge (3 gb+) files in photoshop

I have started creating 3gb+ files in CS2 photoshop and my computer is taking 3 minutes to open and 10 minutes to save, etc - driving me mad with the delays. My system (3.166 mhz core duo, ASUS P5K SE/EPU motherboard, 4GB Kingston DDR2 800 RAM, Quadro FX540 video card) copes well with 300MB files but not with these ones.
Recently I moved my OS to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit in the hope that things would improve but any change was marginal.
The files are multi-layered designs, 150 dpi, about 16 feet by 10 feet and 1.8GB flattened when they are printed.
Whilst I know that the designs are pushing the boundaries/restrictions of photoshop I would appreciate any views of members who have figured out how to manage huge files. Any suggestions welcomed, whether hardware/software upgrades, photoshop hints (but the dpi and size cannot change), etc.

    Thanks,
you've all been helpful. My files were being saved as Photoshop not tiffs but I found a 30 day free trial of CS4 Photoshop and that seems to be making a difference.  It looks like I'll have to purchase that along with some more ram.  My computer is a money pit!
    Thanks again

  • How can I delete a normal file under e:\downloads ...

Sorry if it is a very basic question, but I have just started using my new Nokia N8 but cannot find a way to delete files from the phone itself. I can connect it to a PC using USB and can delete files .. but did not find any way to do so from the phone. I can just locate/open the files via search application. However, there is no delete feature.
Also any way to create/rename a folder from the phone ?
Thanks in advance for any help / suggestions.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To delete a file, go to file manager (menu > applications > Office > File mgr.), browse to the correct directory and long press on the filename until a menu appears.
    Similarly to rename a folder.
No idea how to create a folder.
(edited to add instuction to go to file manager as it doesn't work in search)

  • How to manage podcasts within iTunes?

Is iTunes just really deficient in managing podcasts? I just started using iTunes since I just bought an iPod, and I am subscribed to 10 or so podcasts. Some podcasts I like to keep all episodes, some I only want to keep the most recent. But it seems like the management features within iTunes only has global podcast settings (ie not for individual podcasts).
If that's true, that that will make it a huge pain in the butt to keep track of my podcasts.

    oh, yeah.
You can also turn off the 'sync' function under the iPod device settings.
If you do this then you can manage your podcasts manually. This will allow you to have podcasts that are partially played without being deleted by the evil 'sync' function.
The downside to this is that you'll have to manually select and drag each podcast to the iPod. You'll also have to manually delete each file from the ipod.
hope that helps. not the best way, but it will work.

  • How to manage podcasts?

I want to subscribe to a podcast, keep all unplayed episodes, and play back from oldest to newest. If I select "keep all" then literally every available episode is downloaded. After marking the 50+ I've already heard before I got the phone as played, the podcasts don't go away. If I delete them and change settings, they are all downloaded again. The windows phone desktop app doesn't appear to manage subscriptions, it mostly just transfers files. How is this supposed to work? I really want it to but this just doesn't seem right.

Previously on my Lumia 800, I was using Zune to subscribe and sync from laptop to phone.
On the 920, I now use a free app from the store called 'Podcast'. The interface is a bit weird but it works for me but doesn't support video. Benefit is that I can manually sync direct to phone, no laptop involveed.
However I understand their is a better app (not free) that I will try, called 'Podcatcher'.

  • How to manage podcast episodes by: marking favorites, writing notes, etc.

I realize this is probably only a dream, but I would love a Podcasts app in which I could mark certain episodes within a station I listen to as *favorite* so that I could come back to these favorite episodes from time to time and review their content.  What would be really cool is if I could not only mark them as favorites but also write a small note to myself as to the main info points from the podcast episode, so that when reviewing things, I could find what I am looking for easier.  Since I glean information from the many podcasts I listen to for business purposes, having a library of the single best episodes (an acompanying notes) would really enhance my podcast experience.
Is there any way to do this with the Podcasts app?
Is there a different app I should explore for this?
Does itunes support something like this (or for that matter any other type of app for my iphone 5)?
    Thanks much.

i dont know how the programs work, the ftp and rss updater and whatever, but if u use feedburner, or u can change what the name of the file it edits is, or u can create a .htacess that roots it, just stick all old episodes under what it updates in the file iWeb will update and when it updates, new episodes go on top

    Hello there,
I`m having the following task - I need to lock a certain MS Office files (Word, Excel...) to be viewed only by certain people on my domain, which already had a digital certificate which is issued by AD Certification Authority, running on Windows Server 2012 R2.
The task is that these certain people can view the files but if they copy the files to another location or send them by e-mail or other way the files to be locked even for openening.
I`m not pretty sure if this can be done only with the mentioned certificates so I`m open to any suggestions of the topic.

  • Newbie: How to manage the number of files in a folder

I have a backup application that runs each day and creates a file in a folder.
I have an iCal scipt which automates this backup to run at a specific time but I would like to modify it so that it deletes the oldest file in the folder. I cannot figure out the best way to do this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This rather long script finds the oldest file in the complete nested range of a chosen outer folder and deletes it.
    property filePathList : {}
    property fileDateList : {}
    getEveryFileName((choose folder) as alias)
    Sort_items(fileDateList, filePathList)
set oldest to item 1 of filePathList
tell application "Finder" to delete oldest
    to getEveryFileName(theFolder)
    tell application "Finder"
    my getNamesDates(get files of theFolder)
set FolderList to folders of theFolder
    repeat with everyFolder in FolderList
    my getEveryFileName(everyFolder)
    end repeat
    end tell
    end getEveryFileName
    to getNamesDates(FileList)
    repeat with everyFile in FileList
    try
    tell application "Finder"
set end of fileDateList to modification date of everyFile
set end of filePathList to everyFile as alias
    end tell
    on error anError
    display dialog anError
    end try
    end repeat
    end getNamesDates
    to Sort_items(sortList, SecondList)
-- sorts by the first list (dates), while keeping the second list in the same order.
tell (count sortList) to repeat with i from (it - 1) to 1 by -1
    set s to sortList's item i
    set r to SecondList's item i
    repeat with i from (i + 1) to it
tell sortList's item i to if s > it then
    set sortList's item (i - 1) to it
    set SecondList's item (i - 1) to SecondList's item i

  • How to manage two OS Text files in UTL_FILE Package simultaneously?

    Hi
I am using UTL_FILE Package in order to insert rows into my table from the OS text files.
It inserts the row in one of the column in the table successfully.
But when I change the code in following routine in order to insert two rows from the two OS text files, it fails and no row inserted in any column of the table.
Could someone assist what changes I will do in the following script in order to insert the rows in both the columns of the table from the two different OS Text files simultaneously?
The UTL_FILE_DIR parameter is set to * .
    I am using Oracle 8.1.7.

  • How to manage and classify iwork files?

    Maybe you can help me.
I use a lot of written docs, iWork docs. I am looking for a way to store and classify them. Something like an iTunes for docs, where I can move around, give them tags, different lists etc. At the moment I just have them in different files in the finder, by years etc, but it is not enough. Thank you very much for your trouble.

This is part of your solution:
In +Inspector > Document > Info+ you can add *Author, Title Keyword and Comment*. This presumably can be searched for in Spotlight, allowing you to gather up like material into a series of nested folders.
You can use Finder's Coverflow feature to thumb through these folders and preview them as you go without opening them.
Also you can use the color Labels in Finder to add further classification to your files.
Use *View Options* in Finder to reveal the Label and Comments and you can sort by these features.
If you want a much beefed up Finder to reveal and control much more of your documents, look at PathFinder which is a Finder substitute, or Yep! which is an iPhoto like app to organise .pdfs of your documents.

  • How to manage Music Videos and Podcasts of my iPod manually in iTune?

Can anyone tell me how to manage Music Videos and Podcasts of my iPod manually in iTune? Because I can't see the Music Videos and the Podcast section in iTune under Device when my iPod is connected to my computer. Thanks

iTunes doesn't have a separate *Music Videos* section. In iTunes these are just part of the main Music library. To manually drag a music video to yout iPod drag it onto the iPod or a compatible playlist. To remove, look for it in Music on the iPod and delete.
I think podcasts only work properly when placed on the iPod via the sync tabs. If you manually drag and drop then the files may get treated as general audio & video files.

  • How do you manually manage podcasts with the new iTunes?

Like the subject line says: How do you manually manage podcasts with the new iTunes?
With the previous version of iTunes, when I plugged in my iPod, I could select the iPod, select podcasts, and manually delete episodes. With the new iTunes, I can't select individual episodes when looking at my iPod through iTunes. Is my only option to Sync? If so, why is that my only option?
This question probably has a simple answer, and I'm just not seeing it.

    Rock,
I think I figured out a way to do what you want to do - which is the same way that I use Itunes with my Ipod. (My Itunes libary was destroyed last year so I can no longer auto synch my Ipod as I would lose thousands of songs).
Funnily enough, I discovered this new way of manually moving podcasts while trying to figure out what cpragman was trying to say (I never could - he must be smarter than me, as I couldn't get his method to work).
    1. Open up your Itunes in your regular Library view. Choose Pocasts from the left hand side (either in the sidebar if you have that enabled, or from the little "radio" icon if you don't.)
    2. Mouse to the podcast you want to place on your Ipod.
    3. Right-click it.  A long menu will pop up.
    4. Move to the "Add to Playlist" option.  As you hover, all your playlists will be visible. But at the very top will be the name of your Ipod itself (whatever you named it originally).  Choose THAT name, and voila! That podcast will now copy to your Ipod and be easily available when you disconnect.
A nice feature of this method is that you can shift-click several podcasts at once and do the same thing, and all your selected podcasts will copy over (if you're like me and update your Ipod only every few weeks).
Hope this helps - let me know if it works for you!

  • How can I return an xml file to normal print?

I typed out a list of CD and saved it but it is filed in xml format and I don't know how to return it not normal print so that I can print it out.  As you may realise I am not very computer literate! Please can someone help. Thanks

coda, textwrangler, textedit should all be able to open and display xml files
but there is no direct print or word proccessor route from xml it's a broad format it's
just tags and how those tags are read and write are up to the program which writes and read the file in question
so you may end up having to fish out the text you want to print from inside X different tags in the file
xml can be seen as a text version of .dat which is the binary counterpart
