How to manage two Apple ID accounts

I have had an iTunes account but only used it for music.  My company provided me with an iPhone and a corporate iTunes account.  Which of these accounts should I use for the phone?

If I should leave, I believe we have the option to take the device with us.  If not, I would just port over the number to another provider.  I've only got five more years to full pension, so I'm hoping I won't have to run into that problem.
I am not talking about your phone number, I am saying those apps you bought using your own Apple ID on a company's iPhone.
Here is the message I get every time I plug the phone into my PC.
"Some of the purchased items on the iPhone "xxx iPhone" including "xxxx xxxx" could not be transferred to you iTunes library because you are not authorized for them on this computer."
You have to authorise your computer iTunes menu > Store by signing out and sign in with the other Apple ID.
And then show three apps in the details which are under the ID/Account I used when I first got the phone.  Can I just delete these apps under that account (company provided), and then re-install them under the account I have used ever since (personal account)?
Yes, you can and if those apps were paid, you have to re-purchase them with your own credit.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

Stop using one. Everything you've previously purchased from it has that Apple ID stored inside the file, which can't be changed.

  • How to merge two apple ID

I've had an Apple ID based on an old AOL email address, lets say its "Jeff1234"
The email address on my Apple ID above is a Yahoo email address, lets say its "[email protected]"
I used my Apple ID above for years, for Apple support and my iTunes account.
I recently ungraded my iTouch to iOS 5 and it asked me to create and iCloud account. When I did I used my "[email protected]" as my ID and Apple created a new account (I should have used my current Apple ID "Jeff1234")
Well, I just tried to delete my "[email protected]" account....because FaceTime was saying I can't use that email address now!! Well I deleted that iCloud account but FaceTime still says I can't use that email address because its already used!! Apple NEVER should have allowed me to create a 2nd account based on this email address because I already used it on my "Jeff1234" Apple ID but...
Anyway I logged into manage my Apple ID account and change my Apple from "Jeff1234" to "[email protected]" but it wont let me saying it's already in use....even though I use and have used this email address on my "Jeff1234" account for years!!
This is crazy! I deleted the "[email protected]" iCloud account why does Apple keep saying that address is alreadt in use? And how do I make that my ID on my current Apple account (Jeff1234)?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Guys,
I called my local Apple store and got some help. I thought in the past I tried to change my "Jeff1234" ID to my Yahoo email "[email protected]" but thought that was not allowed.
Anyway, Kevin at the Apple store said I COULD change the ID names/emails.....and suggested I change the new Apple ID account ("[email protected]") to another email address I have, then go back into the "Jeff1234" account and make the ID on THAT (my original) account "[email protected]".
That made sence, but I hit a snag, I tried to use the "alternate" email address on my original/old Apple ID account as the Apple ID on the new account and it would not let me. It just would not change, and did not tell me why. But then Kevin and I figured it was because this alternate email address was associated with my other account already. Once we deleted that alternate email address from the Jeff1234 account it let me use that email address as the Apple ID on the new account......THEN use [email protected] on the old original account!!
So, I (or we) fixed it so now my original Apple ID account uses "[email protected]" and the new Apple ID account uses something else. And now I have TWO Apple ID acconts, the 2nd newer one not really being used for anything right now. But maybe I'll use it for iCloud or something else in the future?
My GF also just bought a iPhone 4S Monday. Spent 4 hours upgrading iTunes, backing up her iPad and updating the iPad to iOS 5 so she could use iCloud with both her iPad and new iPhone 4S. To my relief everything seemed to backup/update/restore Ok (I had issues updating my iTouch 4G in the past losing all my apps!). Anyway all her apps and TV shows ect seemed to be there. But then she checked her photos. Of her 95 photos only 15 were there after the restore! And now ONLY those 15 photos won't sync back to iCould and her iPhone.....eeeee.....but thats another topic not for here. I just don't understand why when updating your iOS device there is such a chance to lose apps or photos, or everything...Apple needs to fix this.

  • Best practice on managing two iPhones / iTunes accounts

I have always used two computers / iTunes accounts for my wife and I's two iPhones. Last week my iPhone and home computer hard drive both crashed (what are the chances. I am now pulling all data off my AppleTV and I am trying to decide how to set everything back up:
    1. Put all content on wife's Toshiba laptop (Win7) and manage two instances
    2. Buy a new Harddrive and reset up my desktop (which will only be used to manage digital media and occassional surf.
Any thoughts? How simple is it to manage two iphone/itunes accounts from one machine. Last posts I saw look like a bit of a pain, because I have to manage my music (the bigger amount of music) in playlists.
    Opinions appreciated!

    You're welcome.
Can I import the same music into both iTunes instances.
Yes, as long as your authorize the computer for each account that the music was purchased under, e.g- if the music was purchased under your account & you want the music in your wife's library, you would use her computer login, launch itunes, sign her out of itunes, sign in using your itunes account details, Store>Authorize this Computer, sign out, then sign her back in.
Do I need to just add one new user
Yes, and I assume you want full administrative powers, so you should set up your account as an administrator.
Once you've set things up this way, transferring purchased content(Apps & music) is real easy. Simply launch itunes, sign out of whatever account you want to transfer the content to, sign in using the account that has the content on the phone, File>Transfer Purchases, sign out after doing so & then sign the other party back in.
You also want to make sure that you disable auto sync when an iphone is connected under preferences in the edit menu. Do this for each login. You DO NOT WANT TO SYNC to each others account, just File>Transfer Purchases. That way you can share apps & music, which is permitted under the EUSLA for family members in the same household.

  • HT204053 Two Apple ID Accounts

I have created two Apple ID accounts at different times and now get confused when using them.  How can I delete one account leaving only one account to use?

You cannot - and anything purchased with an AppleID is forever tied to that AppleID. To not get mixed up, the best thing to do is to make the password on both IDs identical. Then it won't matter which one is coming up for an update - you just type in password assigned to both of them.
Keep the passwords in sync, and pick one to use going forward. Use that one for your iTunes logon and your iCloud account.

  • Two Apple ID accounts shareable?

I know we can't merge two Apple ID accounts but can we share in iOS 8, then download then delete second one?  I want to move all my purchases under an apple email and not use a yahoo email address.

No, you cannot do that. All purchases under any Apple ID are permanently tied to that Apple ID. See below for what you can do.

I agree with the Thomas, in that I think you have mucked up your settings in the AOL account. Your username should be something like - [email protected] Your password is whatever you use as the password.
You could try deleting the account and start over again. Here is a link to a "how to set up AOL email " on the iPad. It is  4 or 5 step process and just make sure that you are entering the correct information in the correct fields in the set up. Among my 4 email accounts on my iPad, I have 2 AOL accounts. I have no problems at  all and it was really very easy to set up. There is no reason why AOL email should not work on your iPad.
To repeat and emphasize - Just make sure that you are entering the correct information in the appropriate fields as I think that's where you are making your mistakes.
If I had my choice, I would probably chuck the AOL accounts as well, but I have all the spam filters set as high as I can on the server, and it has cut down tremendously on the spam. Unfortunately - we set up AOL accounts at my workplace years ago and I really hesitate to change them now, so I continue on with these, but like I said, they work fine and they were very easy to set up.

  • HT1918 My name is Paul Augsburger I have had several issues with my account and they are now fixed with one exception,  I have two Apple ID accounts, and I would like to combine them. Please contact me at pra1949 (at) me (dot) com for further information.

Please contact me at pra1949 (at) me (dot) com for any further contact I don not monitor the suelefriends (at) gmail (dot) com email.
I have had several iisues with my Apple ID accounts and spent many hours at the APPLE store in Richmond Va. getting them fixed. The technician was wonderful, patient and very knowlegeable, however he was not able to complete the task and said I needed to contact Apple support for the final step. During the process of fixing things I ended up with two APPLE ID accounts. my main accout is suelefriends (at) gmail (dot) com and the second account is "pra1949 (at) me (dot) com" I have most of my apps tied to the main account with only a few to the pra1949 account. I also have $25 worth of credit on the pra1949 account. Because of the two accounts it still makes updating apps very confusing and very cumbersome. I would like to have the two accounts merged so I end up with one account with all the money and APPS tied to it, that way I only need one password to update. I hope this is possible.

    Hi there
And i wonder if someone could tell me if there is a way i can stop having owe of two Apple ID accounts, in the iTunes Store, and pass all my shopping for my current Apple ID accounts...

You can use only one Apple ID if you wish, but it is impossible to transfer purchases to a different Apple ID. You will need to repurchase your content with the Apple ID you are going to use.
