How to manually backup bit-locker key to AD

Hello,
How can I manually backup bit-locker key to AD for couple of users from my machine. (I do have their ID and key)
I am able to do that by running this command on end user machine, manage-bde.exe -protectors -adbackup c: -id {
but how can I do that my self for the end user.

If these bitlocker recovery key is store in their local machine. You need to contact and obtain the permission to access their computer to get that file.

Hi,
What's the type of your computer? Desktop or Laptop? Have you tried to use other keyboard to test this problem.
As In my opinion, Since it shows password input error, it should not Bitlocker encrypt problem. Maybe system couldn't identify the character you typed, maybe it is keyboard or its driver problem. It would be better to change another keyboard to check this
problem for test.

Bit Locker key missing after OU Move

We are seeing an issue where the keys for Bit Locker seem to be gone when we move objects from one OU to another. Is this something that one would expect? is there a common explanation or should we engage MS Support? thanks!

Hi Anthony,
If you delete a computer object from AD, you will also delete the BitLocker Recovery Information which is a child object.
To restore the deleted computer object, you will have to use AD Restore Mode to retrieve the object.

How to manually backup iPad to iTunes now that iCloud is working?i

Now that iCloud is backing up my iPad finally, I would still like to do a manual backup to iTunes. Can someone provied the details of how to do this correctly? I assume I still have to tether it to my iMac. I'm confused because It looks like it is still backing up to iTunes as it did before but I seems some people using right click on iTunes Icon and so on, so need to get the correct procedure. Thanks

You cannot backup to iCloud and to the computer at the same time if that is what you are asking - in other words if you are looking for a way to always have "backup to iCloud" enabled and "Backup to this computer" enabled - both at the same time - you can't do it.
There is no way to set it up so the whenever you backup - you backup to iCloud and the computer at the same time - simultaneously that is. Does that answer your question?
I thought the OP was asking how to switch between the cloud and the computer for backups but maybe I am wrong.

Anyone know how to disable the "caps lock" key?

I'm a klutz typist who needs to look at the keys when I type, and I often hit the caps lock key by mistake and have to go back and retype a lot. There used to be in the real old days a freeware utility to do this, but I don't know how to do it today.

How to manually backup iPhoto

I've got several iPhoto libraries, some for specific purposes. My main one - family, scenery, some videos etc - is 65 GB now,10,000 photos. I have time machine, but like to also backup manually onto a second external hd. I just drag the iPhoto icon onto the hd - with the smaller libraries it only takes a few minutes, but the main one now looks like it'll take approximately forever. I haven't done a full manual backup of that library for almost a year, and I don't recall it taking this long. After 15 minutes it'd only done about 240MB, so I cancelled it. (In between full backups I just pick out any really important individual photos and drag them to the external.)
I'm doing it right, aren't I? From Finder, drag the iPhoto icon onto the drive's icon on the desktop?
I'm using a mid-2011 Mac desktop, iPhoto v9.4.3 and a WD portable external formatted FAT32.
Any advice would be very much appreciated - I'm getting a new mac and if I need to change something, this would be the time I should find out about it. I won't need the MS-DOS compatibility any more, would the other format be better? (can't remember what it's called, the one dedicated only for Macs)

The problem doing what you call 'manual back ups' is that every time you back up it copies the entire library again. You might consuder doing incremental backups. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

Report or GPO with missing Bit locker keys

Hello,
I have 2008 DC with schema upgraded to 2012 and win 8 clients.
I have configured GPO to store recovery keys to AD (no MBAM yet, i heard about it today for the first time)
but randomly it misses some users, it encrypt the drive but does not save the key and we dont come to know
until user is stuck for key.
If their a way to pull a weekly report to notify us about users with missing keys or GPO to force update the missing ones.
I also have SCCM 2012 SP roll up 4, if that can help.

This is not really what I am looking for, So I have enabled the Bitlocker classes and build the report.
It shows me 1 for computers with bitlocker enabled and 0 for not yet enabled.
But what I am really looking for a report to tell me about all the users whose drive is encrypted but key is missing in AD. or may be a report with all the recovery keys.
Any further suggestion please.

I have to tell you that you cannot decrypt the drive without recovery password or recovery key unless you format this dirve, which may lead to personal data lost.

Cap lock key

Could someone please give me detailed instructions on how to reconnect the cap lock key? I have 2 plastic pieces and the key pad itself. Diagrams would be helpful. Is there a web site that would help me?

After much frustration, I found instructions in Apple Support. Look here if you ever need to reattach your keyboard keys. Some of them (Cap Key, Shift, Space Bar can be tricky and you really need instructions.

If you lost recovery key and are unable to access the disk at this moment, then I'm sorry but I have to say that you're lost. If the data in that encrypted drive is very important for you, then you might need a data recovery center to help you.
