How to manually retrieve Default Client Settings again

I have a question about Default Client Settings in SCCM 2012.
In our Default Client Settings we've added two AD groups for Viewers of Remote Control and Remote Assistance (Administration>Client Settings>Default Client Settings>Properties>Remote Tools> Permitted viewers and then Set Viewers).
When I logon to a client computer and open Local User manager I can see these two AD groups added to the local group "ConfigMgr Remote Control Users".
For testing I removed one of the member groups that was added.
Now the question; How does the removed group come back to the client? I've ran all the Configuration Manager Actions on the client but this doesn't work. It doesn't add the member which I removed. I also waited 60 minutes to see if it would come back automatically,
but no. Of course I can manually add this group again, but that is not what I want.
Or is the local group for Remote Control only filled the first time the Configuration Manager Client is installed on a computer? Or maybe there is another mechanism which takes care of filling the Remote Control Users group?

Today I added a new AD group to "Viewers".
After that, I ran the machine policy retrieval on my client on which I previously removed a group. After I ran this, de ConfigMgr Remote Control Users group was filled again. This time with 3 AD groups. So the group I removed before was added again and my new
group was also added.
Conclusion; if I make a change to the Default Client Settings it will push all the settings again to a client. But if you make a change locally, like removing a group, SCCM won't update this group again. It seems it doesn't do a verify on local settings
unless something has changed in SCCM itself. Indeed it seems to imply a bug.

What are the settings for the "Default Client Settings"? I changed them instead of creating a new policy and would like to fix that.

  • Recommended BITS default client settings?

I will be pushing out the SCCM 2012 R2 client to our client systems across our domain. One single SCCM server that is also acting as the DP for ~1500 clients.
I would like to get some feedback on what would be a prudent default BITS setting.
Our average package size is ~50MB in size and we have approximately 1500 Windows 7 clients connected to the SCCM server via a 1GB (best effort, not guaranteed) WAN connection. To avoid over saturating the connection I would like to keep the default setting
    conservative during the business hours.
I realize every case is difference but given the above would a 1,024 Kbps be over the top? It would obviously be best  if I have branch cache enabled on clients to take the load off of the WAN and the SCCM server.
How do you have your client setting configured?
Do you generally leave the above at default and control it by GPO?
Also, once you have configured the above and deployed the SCCM client can you control this setting via the SCCM console or only by GPO after deployed?
    Thank you.

I concur with Ronnie here in general.
Ultimately, it comes down to how quickly do you want content to get to your clients, how saturated your WAN link already is, and what the ramifications of adding different amounts f load to that link are. We can't really answer any of those questions
    -- only you can.
If you are concerned that you may add an unacceptable load to the link, then throttling BITS makes sense. To what level depends upon the factors listed above. If you want to be very conservative, start with something restrictive and gauge that against your
desire for content download responsiveness, how saturated the link really gets, and the impact of that saturation. Of course, do lots of base-lining along the way so that you have empirical data showing where the sweet spot is that maximizes the response per
your expectations while also minimizing the impact on the link.

  • How do i change default printer settings

    Hi
I have an Epson Photo PX720WD.
When I print photos directly from Finder they always print on the A4 plain paper I have in the tray rather than the 6 x 4 photo paper I want them to. The print option in Finder doesn't give me any opportuntiy to select settings like, for instance, iPhoto.
I don't want to import all pics into iPhoto as i like being able to print them from Finder so does anyone know how I can change the settings, preferably to make the 6 x photo setting the deafult?
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

    Hi Eustace
thanks for the reply.......I'm on 10.7.5 but I think the issue is that I'm not printing from an App, I want to print direct from Finder and when I select cmd/p or go through the file menu and select print the dialogue box doesn't appear or isn't an option.
On all Apps that I've printed from cmd/p brings up the dialogue box or going to the file menu the print option looks like this:
    Print....
Direct from Finder there are no dots meaning no dialogue box will appear.
I have about 50 pics I want to print so if I can change the default settings then I can simply cmd/p every time knowing that they'll print the way I want them.
I would also like to change the default settings as I print pics about 95% of the time so it's less hassle to change it when I want a plain A4 print.
    Any ideas?!!
    Thanks again

  • How Can I Change Default Zoom Settings For Safari?

I just got my new iMac and hate the fact that everytime I open Safari everything is small and centered directly in the Safari screen.  How can I change the default settings so it either zooms in more or is in a landscaped mode so I don't have two big white patches on the sides of my window?

The only way I know of, (and that I use) is as follows:
Open textedit and create a new document.
Add the following 3 lines to the file
    body {
    zoom: 175%
Save the file as "somename.css". I called mine defaultzoom.css and saved it in Documents.
In Safari go to Preferences | Advanced.
In the Style sheet: dropdown box choose "other" and browse to the location of your somename.css file.
That's it, now webpages will open with the default zoom level you used in the file (I use 175% but you need to tweak it for your screen size). Also, I do run into situations where some pages don't render correctly. If that happens you can go back to Safari | Preferences | Advanced and change the Style sheet dropdown box to none until you are done viewing that paticular website. Then just put it back when you are done.

  • How to manually connect wireless clients on Time Capsule with Airport 6.1?

I'm having trouble setting up wireless access for an older Dell laptop and a wireless HP 4500 printer on a new Time Capsule wireless network. All of the workarounds that I've found (adding a client manually so no WPA password is needed; generating an equivalent network password, etc) and even the Time Capsule setup manual itself reference options in AirPort Utility that are not available up on my Mac running Mountain Lion. I've figured out that the AirPort for Mountain Lion must be the root of the problem--and I can see that there are 5.6 vs. 6.0 discussions. Clearly the 6.0 version has a whole new interface and advanced options don't appear readily available. Can AirPort 5.6 run on Mountain Lion? Or is there a another way to get to these manual settings so I can get these devices to just work?
It's a real bummer to have no information from Apple to update the Time Capsule user manual and help files for what obviously is a common problem in setting up a mixed wireless network.
    Thanks for the help.

You are right of course.. it is about time Apple updated Time Capsule both hardware and instruction for usage on v6 utility. I wonder if TC is doomed in the future which apple sees is all cloud.
You can load 5.6 into mountain lion.. you cannot run it as the application installer will fail. But it is still easy to get it working.
    Download the 5.6 package.
    Download unpkg http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/16357/unpkg
    Run unpkg
Open the dmg and drag the pkg file over to unpkg.. the 5.6 utility will be loaded to a directory on the desktop. Drag the file to your utility directory.. you only need the main file.
But it could be even easier to just download and install the airport utility for windows.. which will have bonjour for windows. Plug into the TC by ethernet.
Whichever way you do it.. change the TC name and wireless names to SMB compatible.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. no apostrophe.. that absolutely ghastly Apple invention.
Set a workgroup name in the file sharing. WORKGROUP generally
Set guest account to read and write.. at least initially as it is easier by far to get access.
I would also lock channels and if the computer uses 5ghz then give 5ghz wireless a different name.. The band swapping is only for Macs.

  • How do I change default printer settings in Lion?

I just got a new MacBook Pro and after installing the correct drivers and setting up my printer, it now prints 2-sided by default.  How do I change this default setting?
I'm using a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.7.4, printing over AirPort to a KonicaMinolta office machine.  I had this same setup with my old MBP (OS X 10.6.8) with no problems whatsoever.

Many vendors have started releasing printer drivers that have been defaulted to two-sided (duplexed). I would assume that the printer driver you are using on 10.6 is an older version compared to that being used on Lion.
There are two possible actions. One is to create a Preset that has the driver set to single sided and use this preset when you don't want duplex. The other is to modify the PPD for the printer so that it is set to single sided by default.
Making a Preset is easy. Open a document and select to print. Make the changes in the print dialog to set single sided printing and then open the Presets menu and choose to save this change for this KM printer. Then whenever you print to the KM just ensure the Preset is set to whatever name you gave to the single sided setting.
As for modifying the PPD, this is done via the CUPS web page.
To access CUPS, open Safari and type
    http://127.0.0.1:631/printers
This will open the CUPS Printer administration page and will show all the printers currently configured on the Mac. For the printer that you wish to change the defaults for, click its name in the Queue Name column.
Clicking the printer name will open the printer administration page for that printer. Here you need to click on the Administration drop menu and then select Set Default Options.
This will show a new page with four menu headings (links); Options Installed, General, Banners and Policies. Select General. Scroll down the list until you find an entry like "Finishing" or something similar that shows the single sided and two sided setting. Change this from 2 sided to 1 sided.
With the option selected you then need to scroll down the list to the bottom of the page where you will see the ‘Set Default Options’ button. Click this button and you will then be presented with an authentication window. Enter the account name and password that has been set as the admin for this Mac. And then press the Log In button. You will then see another page stating that the information change is completed.
Now you can open an application and select to print and then check the output is set to single sided.

  • How do you set default object settings

I don't know how this happened but my default setting for object transparency got changed from "normal" to "color burn"
(By selecting: Object - Effects - Transparency - then Color Burn or Normal) How can I switch this back so that the default is always on normal so I don't have to switch it from color burn to normal everytime I create a document?
It took me an hour to figure out why objects were translucent. I kept thinking they were behind other objects and trying to bring them to the front, but they weren't. They were just set on color burn. I switched it back to mormal but everytime I start a new document, it defaults back to colr burn. Its driving me crazy.

By the way, color burn is the default ONLY  when I draw cicles. If I draw a box, or any other shape the default is normal and works the way I want it to. Very odd.  Just a pain because everytime I draw a circle I gotta go through all these steps to set it back to normal so the colors don't burn through

  • How to manually retrieve mail messages from time machine in Lion?

I just did a clean reinstall on Lion and want to import things from time machine piecemeal.  As far as I know, in order to access the mail documents on the computer's hard drive, in the Finder I need to go to Go-->Go to Folder... and then type ~/Library.  Then I have access to the "Mail" folder with the data.  How can I access this folder that's on my external harddrive?  I don't have the "Go" function and I don't know how to get there manually.  My hidden files are shown.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The best way to restore mails is to use Time Machine.
    1. Open System Preferences > Time Machine > Select Disk, select the external disk and see > http://pondini.org/TM/E3.html
    2. Open Mail and open Time Machine. Navigate and restore the mails you want

  • How do i restore default installer settings?

    Hi there,
Somehow my installer settings got changed and I now can't install ANYTHING. Someone suggested changing the file extensions, but this didn't help, or at least what I tried. Any way to revert back to default without reinstalling my OS?
    Thanks,
    Taylor

It could just be a bad zipfile.
Is it just that the files don't open when you click on them in the download manager window, or don't open even if you click on them in there downloaded location?
Can you install other types, like packages.pkg or diskimages.dmg?

  • Client Settings and RBAC

When we first setup RBAC, we created a Departmental Admin role that could create, modify and delete...basically was given all of the permissions for the Client Settings class since the objects are securable via scope therefore Departmental
Admins could not modify or delete the Default Client Settings or any of the Custom Client Settings outside their scope. This was working for us for the last 6 months and now all of a sudden, those same Departmental Admins now have the ability to modify
the Default Client Settings rule but still not any custom client settings outside their scope and I can't figure out why? It's as if the scope for the Default Client Settings rule as changed and I have no idea on how to tell since the console
doesn't show any scope for the Default Settings? Any idea on how this might have happened or how to fix it?

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
Within the CM12 R2 Toolkit, look at RBAview, this will help you understand what each user can or can’t do.

  • Retrieving Missing Sync Settings When Upgrading From an Older Version of Firefox to the latest version.

I initially set up my Sync account using an add-on for an older version of Firefox and have since upgraded to the latest version. But now my browser acts as if I don't have a sync account set up at all. When I attempt to create a new account, it says that my email address is already being used which tells me that my sync information is still on the the servers. So how do I retrieve my sync settings when settings are missing within my browser?

I resolved the problem in Snow Leopard by logging out of my (admin) account and logging into my daughter's account on the same machine. She doesn't have admin privileges, so when I tried to install Firefox 4 in her account, I had to authenticate with my admin identity and PW. Installation went smoothly after that. My guess is that you could also simply create a new account on the same machine and install Firefox 4 from that. I have no idea why this works.

  • TS1717 restoring default factory settings without itunes as both may have malware

How can I restoring default factory settings without itunes on my ipod 1 and ipod 3rd generation, as both may have malware aswell as 3 laptops, 2 mobile, TV snd BluRay Browser.
any advice will be greatly appreciated.
have tried to disinfect with Kaspersky products but the malware just overwrites everything that is put into the p.c. so I need to use just the pad itself, that is, of course, if it allows me access.
theres nothing like a ipad scorned, ask my weary eyes. cheers

yep, unfortunately can't reset without the passcode either.
With regards to doing a restore, do you mean:
    open itunes on my computer
click on my device on the left
    go to the device summary
    click restore
it then asks if i want to back up before i restore (to which i say no)
then it asks me if i'm sure I want to restore to factory settings and that all of me media and data will be erased and replaced with the newest version ( to which I say yes)
then it takes about 90 mins to do this but when I look at my phone, everything is exactly the same.
Am I missing something? Obviously I'm technologically challenged, but I HAVE to get to the bottom of this!

  • Client Settings

    Hi,
I have a Default Client Settings and a Custom Device Client Settings.
Custom Device Client Settings is deployed only to a collection named "test" and default client setting is not deployed to any collections at all. I enabled hardware inventory in Custom Device Client Settings to see some reports regarding installed
Programs on computers which are in test collection. I was expecting to see computers only from test collection but I see computers which are not in test collection. If we dont deploy any client settings to a collection, do that collection get default client
    settings?
    Yavuz Selim Atmaca

Correct. Default Client Settings are by default applied to clients.
