How to mark email messages as Not Junk?
When I look in the Junk email folder in Mac Mail, I see messages that I did not mark as junk mail. I guess Mac Mail is somehow filtering and classifying the messages as junk. Within the Junk folder, however, there are messages that are not junk. How to I mark these items (and future messages from the same source) as not junk, so that they appear in my Inbox and not in my Junk folder?
What I Think I Am Supposed To Do
1. Open a message in the Junk folder that I do not want to be classifled as junk.
2. By default, a "thumbs down" icon appears in the toolbar (View > Show Toolbar). I click on thumbs down to mark the message as junk. The thumbs down icon changes to a "thumps up" icon.
3. I click on the thumbs up icon to mark the item as not junk
Is this the right thing to do? When I do the above steps, the message remains in the Junk folder - it does not move my Inbox folder. But will future messages from the same source go into my Inbox?
Thanks
In case other are having this problem: With Outlook.com email, I found that mark email items as Not Junk within Mac Mail had not effect. Subsequent emails from the same sender still went into the Junk folder.
I had to sign on to my Outlook.com email at www.outlook.com website and mark the emails there as Not Junk. Subsequent emails from the same sender than arrived in my Mac Mail Inbox, as desired.

In 31.3, how do you mark a message as Not Junk
T'bird help says there's a Not Junk button, but I can't find one. Thanks for your help
There are two ways to mark as Not Junk:
When viewing a message TB (or you) has marked as junk, there is a strip near the top of the message which says 'Thunderbird thinks this message is junk mail.' In that strip, there is a box on the right which says 'Not Junk'.
The other way is in the list of mail in a folder, if you right click on the message, one of the options is 'Mark'; then hovering your mouse over that you can select 'As Not Junk'. -
Apple Mail keeps putting good messages into the Junk folder. I mark them as 'not junk', but then they just sit there. It is really tedious to have to move them back to the inbox, and change the colour back to black. Is there any way to do this automatically. (And while I'm at it, why is the Mail junk filter so poor? Shouldn't it be learning: it just keeps putting the same good messages into junk.
Which version of Mail are u using and which Os ?
On this side Mail 4.5 ans SL 10.6.8, I do have the possibility to transfer from the JunkBox to the in box for exemple and even change the color of the text... Sorry , in French.
Edit, just saw that yre on 10.6.8 from your firt post... -
How to exit email inbox but not disconnect???
It seems as though when you exit the email inbox it will also 'disconnect active mailbox connections'.
I believe this active connection is necessary to receive future email notifications; If I 'Show Open Apps' and navigate to Standby the connection is retained and I receive email notifications. If I 'exit' and break the connection I no longer receive notifications.
So question: How do I exit email without breaking the connection? or how do I set up the connection so that it is always on?
FWIW I have an IMAP email account setup on the phone, with Auto Retrieval set to Email Notifications/Auto Update. In case other are having this problem: With Outlook.com email, I found that mark email items as Not Junk within Mac Mail had not effect. Good morning guys
is there a way to prevent mail app on OS X & iOS from automatically marking email messages as read just when they are selected either intentionally or not
thanksOn OS X, You are able to hide the preview window on the right in normal mode, or on the lower side in classic mode, by simply putting your cursor on the thin bar which is in between, and then make it as small as possible, so it goes away.
Then your messages won't be automatically read when clicked once, but only if you click them twice and a new window with the message opens.
Also, you are able to mark them as unread again, which is a silly workaround, but possible.
You can do that by right clicking and select 'Mark as...' -> unread.
On iOS, I'm not sure.. -
How to mark emails as unread/read with MFE?
Hi folks,
I am a newbie on MFE running on a Nokia E71. Works great but I havent figured out how to mark emails as unread.
Any suggestions where to find this function in the MFE client?
Thanks and best regards,
JesperI don't know how this feature works in Outlook / Entourage... knowing Microsoft, it's probably proprietary and does not follow certificate standards, but that's a guess. If they used standard certificate technology, in order for you to send mail encrypted to your client, she would have to have sent you a digitally signed message. Then, you can send her an encrypted e-mail. If you start an e-mail message to her, is the little lock icon to the right of the From field black or gray? If it's black, you've already got her certificate, and just have to click that lock to encrypt the message. If it's not, you don't have her certificate, and she will need to send you a signed message.

After downloading IOS 8.0.2 on my iPhone 5, my email messages are not coming through automatically. Before, my email messages would come through automatically and my iPhone would alert me each time an emial message was recevied. I now have to open my mail in-box and wait for my email messages to download. Do I need to reset or change my mail settings? This issue is delaying my abiliy to receive and respond to email messages in a timely manner.
Please Help.
JesseHi Chris. Thanks, for the suggestions re: my email issues. They were helpful and yes I did check all items you referenced. I even contacted Apple support and spent about 40 minutes on phone checking all settings. However, after all these efforts, my mail and calendar issues were not resolved. Apple Support finally recommended deleting the mail account and then reloading it - and it worked! I am now receiving my emails and calendar appts. in real time again.
Just wanted to share this in case anyone elest has a similar problem with mail/calendar after downloaing i.O.S. 8.1 onto iPhone 5.
Thanks, again.

How to get Mac Messages to NOT save chats?
How to get Mac Messages to NOT save chats?
I went through the Preferences but I do not see where I can check/uncheck save chats. Will someone help direct me?Hello mayonnaise18,
Thank you for the question. You can disable the option to save chats in the Messages tab in Messages>Preferences:
Automatically save conversations when you close them
Choose Messages > Preferences, and then click Messages.
Select “Save history when conversations are closed.”
These steps are to enable the option to save messages, but you would want to uncheck the option to "Save history when conversations are closed." You can find the full article here:

Junk mail-why don't I have an option for Is junk mail in messages flag not junk mail
I have a brown coloured email which has been accurately diagnosed as junk mail, but when I go to Messages>flag>...the only two options I have are "not junk mail" and "mark as unread" yet in the help support it says that it should have "junk mail" there too. So far I cant mark it as junk mail - so I usually just delete them. Any advice please? Thank you.
Have you studied Mail prefernces? If not, go to Mail > preferences > Junk mail and check out the options there. Alternately, click on the 'info' question mark and follow up anything you are currently unsure of.

Reconcile email messages option not available in Desktop Manager
I recently installed the Desktop Manager in an attempt to sync my new Tour with Outlook 07. After going through the install process, I went to the Synchronize option in the desktop manager and the reconcile email messages option is greyed out. I have a home office and do not have a BB Enterprise Server. In fact, there is not even an Email Settings icon available to me in the Main Menu of the desktop manager. Any thoughts on how to enable this option? Thanks
That function is not available on a personal BIS account.
You'll need a BES account for email and messages reconcile, to Outlook.

Problem -How to figure out "message could not be saved" alternate location?
Hmmmm.... what could be causing this?
Does Mail or the computer do an 'auto-save' somewhere when I get the message "The message could not be saved." It's very frustrating as I don't know how to tell if a message has gone, or who it's gone to. It only starting doing this recently; any possible solutions?
I checked autosave (not there). Any other place to look?
I'm concerned because I did not want an email to reply to cc: all and I may have done that unintentionally. Any way to tell if I have egg on my face?
Thanks!!
Mac Mini Dual Mac OS X (10.4.9)> The account is Mail (sometimes synced with .Mac) on an outgoing smtp server through Comcast.
Does this mean the account in question is a .Mac account and you are accessing the account with the Mail application as a .Mac type account?
And if yes to both, you are storing Drafts and Sent messages on the server?
If so, your account in Mail is not sometimes synched with the .Mac server - all server stored mailboxes in Mail are automatically synchronized with the server when first launching Mail when connected to the internet and there is no way to turn this off. And when selecting a server stored mailbox in the mailboxes drawer, the selected mailbox is re-synchronozed with the server.
The error message provided does not include or involve the account's Drafts mailbox - it is the account's server stored Sent mailbox only and successfully sent messages are not being saved on the server? -

Try reset iPad

Emails that are not junk JUNKED
Have you checked your Outlook rules?
Also if you log into Gmail webmail are the emails showing in the junk folder there too? If so perhaps you need a filter configured in Gmail: https://support.google.com/a/answer/9008?hl=enFellow Spiceheads I need some help. I just started a new job and am trying to resolve an email issue for CEO
So lets start. We use Office 365 and Outlook as our email. In out look my CEO has her company exchange account, gmail, and earthlink accounts. Her exchange account works just fine when you say something is not junk it is put into the inbox folder but not the junk. Her gmail on the other hand you mark an email "not Junk" following correspondence still goes into the junk mail bin.
