How to measure Lync Service Availability?

Hi there
I need to understand how others measure Lync service availability? I have following setup in my environemnt where I have:
1x Lync front end server
1x Lync Persistent Chat server
1x SQL instance
2x Lync Edge server (redundant)
1x Lync Mediation server (not yet in place)
There are many values monitored over the monitoring but does anyone have any idea how to bring all these unstructured data into a meaningfull service availability?

If you want to see service status of computers run Lync Server in your topology, you can check it in Lync Server Control Panel.

yeah all you need to do is
svcadm enable /network/telnet
this will enable the service then and next time when you boot the system
(or i.e. svcadm disable apache2 if you want to disable the httpd)

We have found some Enterprise Services to use for our existed business scenarios in ES Workplace.
My requirement here is: There are some interfaces which are running through websphere from source to destination. Now, we wanted to migrate those interfaces using PI 7.1, for which Can I use SAP provided Enterprise Services in ES Workplace? If so, how can I use those? What is the approach? Is there any process for this?

Hello PM,
It depends on the exact scenario and best fit of usage of ESs. The ESs listed out in the ES workplace are the different functionalities and specific to business scnearios.
So in your case, it is not a good idea to directly use the services available from ES workplace. You need to understand/analyse the exact functionalities etc
wrt your query on how to use ES from ESworkplace: All ESs are coming as EhPs.. so you need to import those EhPs in your SAP backend, and publish the services into ES Registry.. then you can consume without PI.
You can use PI, to have new developments or extending the existing ES using outside in approach. Otherwise PI is not required to execute the ES.

How to make a service available in SICF?

Hello all,
I'm looking to set up a demo showing some of our existing ITS functions in integrated ITS. For example I want to make IAC iViews of PZ07 & PZ14. I didn't see them available in sicf so I went to se80 and found/published both. I then expected to see them available in SICF for activation. They are still not there. I'm obviously missing a key step. When I try a Start Service in SE80 I get "http://hostname:port/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/pz07/ call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available."
I have activated the SYSTEM , WEBGUI & SHUFFLER services and can get available services to test properly. I just need to be able to publish/activate the ones I need.

I have created a service using those instructions and have it working as an IAC iView in the portal using the configurations below. It works but is missing styles, and generally looks rough compared to testing the service in SICF. I don't know why. I'm still confused as to why I can't run the out of box PZ07. It's in SE80. I have published it, but when I go to test it in se80 or run it in a portal IAC iView it fails with the following
"URL http://shrcin02.america.apci.com:8304/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/PZ07 call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available."
I also don't see it in sicf. Shouldn't this be available as a service in sicf once I publish it in SE80? Some PA** services are available though not activated. I know we've not used them. What dictates which services are available and which ones are not. Anyone have any idea what I am missing?

I am actually looking for using standard webservice that has been provided by SAP in ESWorKSPACE available on sdn.
The WS that you mentioned is inbound and hence wont suit your requirement!
The reverse flow may however be possible.

Azure services availability can be viewed in
status dashboard . Microsoft Azure sends notification of planned maintenance only for virtual machines that are not inside an Availability Set.
If you require this virtual machine to run as a single instance, we recommend you remove the virtual machine from the Availability Set so that you can receive notification of planned maintenance. Note that moving a virtual machine in or out of an Availability
Set will result in the machine rebooting as we migrate it to a new physical machine.

Alternate unit of measure in service entry sheet,

Dear All,
I have created service master with unit of measure MON(MONTH), and I have entered alternate unit of mesure 1MON=30 DAYS,
I have created service PO with unit of measure MON, In service entry sheet the unit of measure is MON, I want to change the unit of measure to DAY, BUT in service entry sheet the unit of measure is MON and the filed is desabled, I cannot change the unit on measure to DAY, Please tell me how to change the unit of measure,

Change of unit of measure in service entry is restricted as below
Since all data is updated in the base unit of measure, your entry is particularly important for the conversion of alternative units of measure. A quantity in the alternative unit of measure can only be shown precisely if its value can be shown with the decimal places available. To ensure this, please note the following:
The base unit of measure is the unit satisfying the highest necessary requirement for precision.
The conversion of alternative units of measure to the base unit should result in simple decimal fractions (not, for example, 1/3 = 0.333...).
So logically there is a constraint for what you are trying to do

Service Availability Report in SCOM 2012

Hi, we are having SCOM 2012 SP1 and need a report on Service Availability for the below services running on the servers

DFS
DNS
PKI
DHCP
Also, would like to understand how the SCOM would report the service availability when there are network issues (primarily WAN Issues) preventing the SCOM Server from reaching the server Hosting the service.

Hi,
In order to generate reports on the services you mentioned, you need to go through two steps for starters.
1. You need to create Distributed Applications for the services (Active Directory excluded since that DA is already created when importing the AD MP) see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh457612.aspx for how it can be done.
2. You also need to create SLA´s (Service Level Tracking in the Authoring pane of the console) see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh230719.aspx
The behaviour can somehow be modified since you decide what should count as donwtime when creating your SLA. However, a server which become unreachable would most likely be classified as critical and therefore it would "bring down" your service
in SCOM.
Once you have created the DA´s you want, you can use the default report "Service Level Tracking Summary" Report under the category "Microsoft Service Level Report Library". Here, you can choose to go back to a certain time to display
your SLA levels. Be aware though, you can never go futher back than to the date where you created the DA and the SLA since that´s when the availability starts measuring.

You might want to start with a feature of SQL*Plus: The AUTOTRACE (TRACEONLY) option which executes your statement, fetches all records (if there is something to fetch) and shows you some basic statistics information, which include the number of logical I/Os performed, number of sorts etc.
This gives you an indication of the effectiveness of your statement, so that can check how many logical I/Os (and physical reads) had to be performed.

How to request FIOS service in my area?

Hi,
I just moved to my first home in San Bernardino, CA. It is a manufactured home in a park, and I was able to get a great deal and pay it off completely. I was so excited about it, I didn't stop to question the internet service available in the area; afterall, what rock do you have to hide under to not find internet in America in this day and age (or so I thought)?
To my disbelief, only the units on the outer perimeter can get service!!!!!! The only thing that is available to me is DSL, and even then it was a HUGE hassle to get it setup because the technicians have to piggyback the lines from a really messed up terminal along the neighbors' backyards! The speed is so horrible, I just want to cry most nights, and my wife literally has cried on occasion! I download everything from my cell phone because it's faster, and my cell phone service is anything but fast. The only other alternative is Dish, and there's a pathetic 30gig limit per month; that wouldn't even last 3 days between my wife, me, and my roommates.
I don't need TV. I don't need a phone line. Hell, I can even live without heating or air conditioning, but the one thing I need is good internet! I've had to cancel my Hulu and Netflix, completely give up on any form of online gaming, download all my media needs from work or on my cell phone, and overall our entire household is absolutely miserable, to the point that I am considering selling this place to move elsewhere. Not to mention, for my job I need access to internet from home at all times, this is really screwing up my life!
We were on 75/35 and already thinking of upgrading to a higher speed plan, so to put that in perspective we are now getting less than 1/1. I'm not rich, I'm supporting a household of 4 as the only income, but I can afford internet, it's a necessity for me. I am willing to sign away $150 for a long-term contract, even if it's 5 years, that's $9,000 in revenue; I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that would cover the cost of laying down some lines! Not to mention, there are more than a hundred units in the park, all the potential customers Verizon could have would definitely be to their monetary advantage. I just can't understand why they don't want to lay down some lines?
Anyway, I don't have much knowledge about this industry so I'm not sure where to begin to petition for this request. If needed, I can personally go door-to-door and get committed answers for the need for FIOS in our park, I know for a fact I'm not alone in my frustrations here. There's not much I won't do in order to get some decent internet! I hope someone can help point me in the right direction.

I was given the equipment Verizon gave me. A DSL modem. What else do I need? I've certianly had modems in the past provided by other services, but they would at least offer what they promised... which is what... 3-5Mbps? Let me check again...
Yes, it was "High Speed Internet" in which I was neglected to be mentioned about when I ordered...
-I checked my speed test, my download speed is 1.95 Mbps, my upload is not even .07 THIS IS EVEN AFTER restarting the modem, you know, turning it off, waiting 1 minute, then plugging it back in.
-The modem is EXTREMELY hot and it isn't even near any other equipment.
-I can't even go to TWO pages at a time when they load. Multitasking is near impossible, even when I had AT&T's service at the same speed, it would allow me to go to another page while another loaded or downloaded something. WEBSITES that don't even require even a LITTLE bit amount of bandwidth.
To further insult, I am getting emails and phone calls from Verizon telling me that my "internet connection speed" is up to code, which is complete and utter **bleep** to put it in short terms. It is a CHORE to go to this website alone to respond.
I'm fully aware NOW that FiOs is out of the question and requests are impossible.
Seriously... HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET THE SEVICE I REQUESTED?

The suggestion above would be a good solution to you. However, if you do not want to use this add-on, you may just configure SBO-Mailer to perform the task. You may check all available setting for the mailer and read through Administrator Guide for how to set it up.

If so, in Lync 2010 there is no special enable setup other than allow the user to have remote access. Of course the MCX service needs to be working.

You mean you can't see this service in sicf or you have trouble locating this service in SICF. Can you specify what exactly your problem is?
Please check if you are on correct Ehp (Enhancement pack) required for this service. This service available with Ehp4.
To check enhancement pack goto System->status and check component information i.e. SAP_APPL release is 603 in my system which means I am on Ehp3.
