does anyone know how to merge or add another document in pages into another research documents in Pages?

You can insert sections from one Pages document into another. Open your files & show thumbnails. Sections have a yellow border around all of the pages in that section. Now click on the page in the thumbnail pane & copy. If the file is more than one page & you only want one, you'll need to insert a section break to separate the pages. Then go to your other file, click in the thumbnail pane & paste. If you want to insert the other content into the middle of a section in the receiving document, you will need to insert section breaks at the point you want to insert. The whole copied page will be pasted in. Repeat with another section. Styles will copy over with the sections but headers & footers will not.

If this is a repetitive task, use Automator. Set up a workflow. First use Files & Folders to Get Selected / Specified Finder Items. Then use PDFs Combine PDF Pages (alternatively just drag selected files to the work area rather than use the Files & Folders step). Display the results from this combinng operation, click on it to display it and verify, and then rename it as desired. The operation New PDF from Images should do that last step, but it appears to not work.

Nd suggestion for importing Word doc into Pages template....

I have a rather lengthy Word file that I want to import into Pages using one of its templates (Travel Journal). Is there a way to import the Word file directly into this template?
I know you can import a Word doc into Pages but once you do that, you have to do the designing from scratch (or at least that what it looks like you have to do).
I like the Travel Journal template and wanted to use that for my Word doc. Any suggestions for getting my Word doc into this template, without having to cut and paste each section?
I like the template because of the varied page layout options and I don't want to have to recreate from scratch!

as I know there is no way to get what you want. I think you have to load the Word document into Pages and than you have to copy and paste all the text and media objects into the Pages template.

People are always getting it wrong.
Tell us the actual version number:
Menu > Pages > About Pages
Can you select the footer? And what is in the footer?
Sometimes Word has these things in separte textboxes under other things and you need to lassoo them to get rid of them.

I've sucessfully transfered documents from my PC to my new MacPro via Migration assistant, which was easy. The documents are on my Mac, but how do I get them into Pages? I used Microsoft 2007 on the PC.

Thanks for the help, but I've dragged, dropped and done everything I can think of to get my documents into Pages, but they seem to ignore it. The only way I can even find the documents from my PC is as a sidebar on Finder. I can open each file in Finder, but there it ends. . . can't get them into Pages where I need them.

How can I automatically break into pages or sections?

My volunteer committee has been working on a document we created in Google docs. It has a table of contents for about 111 entries. I downloaded the document and am trying to set it up in Pages so that each of the 111 "chapters" is on a different page. The TOC came over nicely into Pages, but I can't figure out how to separate each of the separate entries into different pages without manually inserting a page break (with no keyboard shortcut!). Each entry is less than a page long...just want them on separate pages.
Any suggestions?

Hi Karyn,
(Pages) Help > Keyboard shortcuts lists:
Insert page break Command-Enter
Note that "Enter" refers to the key on the number pad, not the "Return" key at the right of the main keyboard area.
On my iBook, the Enter key is to the right of the spacebar, at the bottom right of the embedded number keypad.
If your keyboard does not include a separate enter key, you can still Copy a page break character, then use command-V to paste it where you want it.

I'll assume you mean Pages 5 on Mac:
Menu > File > Set Password…
But think very carefully before doing it, the only person you are probably going to lock out from the document is yourself and there is no sensible way of getting back in other than a very expensive Russion cracking app, that will do so by sheer brute force, which will take ages.

I want to allow info from another site to be shown & interacted with by the visitor on my iweb page. The purpose for this is to allow real estate listings (provided by a subscription-based third party) to be integrated into my site, allowing the visitor access to those listings, photos, etc, while maintaining the image & brand that I use to support/market my services. An HTML snippet is not available from the provider that allows for the level of access that I need, and once again the objective is to not direct the visitor away from my main page or from the site entirely.

How to merge one library into another? Followed directions with no luck.

3.4.3 library add/merge problem. 13"rMBP trying to add (in this case) a 900MB library into my larger 200GB library. I have tried dragging and using the menu items with no luck. The pop-up display says merging and when done I don't see the new project in the larger library. Right before the operation is complete I see the project (library) title fly from the project list back to the finder. Very confusing. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this problem. Thanks.

Does the library that you want to to merge into your other library contain images or projects that already are in your main library? In that case you may not see a new project, but the new images may be merged into the older projects.
Or are all images in the library that you want to merge are new images? Is the file size of your Aperture library larger after merging?
There has been a buggy behaviour reported, that merging does not work, if all new images have been imported from the Photo Stream.

Any ideas on how to merge 2 reports on page to export to Excel or PDF?

This is for OBIEE 11g (we are currently running 11.1.1.6.8). We have a user requirement to put the prompt selections on each report that is exported to Excel or exported to PDF. This requirement has to do with auditors. We cannot use the Filter Criteria view because we have saved filters that contain other saved filters so not all of the filters are shown. What the users want is to just have the ability to Export to Excel or PDF for one report and add the prompt criteria so that it also shows in Excel or PDF. We know we can use presentation variables and create a narrative view to show all of the prompt criteria. But we don't want to have this in a view in the compound layout of every report on the page (we have many pages with many reports on them). What we would like to do is have the Export (to Excel or PDF) download the prompt criteria (like when you use the printable HTML and printable PDF functionality only we want this for one report). So think of merging the report that is being Exported to Excel or PDF with another report that is built to show the prompt criteria. Is anyone else doing this kind of functionality? Any ideas on how to do this with javascript?
We created an SR on this to find out if Oracle had some ideas but they did not and said that this is already an enhancement request ( Bug 8242921: ALLOW PROMPTS TO BE DISPLAYED WHEN DOWNLOAD TO EXCEL)

9.4.2 update: Merge word docs into pdf BROKEN

While I am not experiencing the printer problems a lot of users are complaining about after the (so called) "update" to 9.4.2, another (for me) essential function is broken.
When I try to merge a couple of supported files into one pdf, the process will always stall at the very first non pdf file (e.g. a Word doc). This never happend before the update. This behavior has been reproducable on three machines. Is there any workaround / WHEN will Adobe react and remove or update this buggy patch pack?

My OS: Win 7, 64bit, all updates (checked today=
Office 2010, all updates.
Process: Acrobat -> merge into single file.
Merge of "pdf only" files is running smoothly.
However when there is any word file, there is a halt.
When the first word doc is processed, Word is starting and prompting me for a file name. After that Acrobat status progress "Converting" this file, but never continues with the next file. The merging dialog stays open but never progress.... no error is displayed.
This behavior was reproduced on 4 (!) machines! When trying to reproduce this make sure the word file is not the last one to be merged....
I also tried a installation repair (did not help).
