How to merge calendars within iCal?

In my initial enthusiasm I set up several calendars in iCal for different classes of event. I now find I have events misfiled. So I have decided to cut down the number of iCal calendars by merging some. I cannot find out how to do this. Any ideas.
I am running iCal 3.0.8 (1287) on OSX 10.5.8 on an Intel core duo 2GHz MacBook.

When I click on an appointment within an Email, it is added to iCal as expected. However, I would like to have appointments imported to a specific calendar within iCal by default. How do I do that?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Click on an eligible event to display a contextual menu, and select "Create New iCal Event..." Then choose the appropriate calendar in the "calendar" field of the "New Event" window. This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it is as close as you will get to setting a default addition.
If you right click on the eligible entry there will be additional contextual menu choices which may or may not be useful.

Cannot merge calendars in ical

I am trying to merge several calendars into one in iCal and I understand that the first step to do this is to create a New Calendar Group and grag the calendars into it.
I can't seem to drag any calendars (from under "icloud") into the New Calendar Group (On My Mac) that I created. Any ideas?

How do merge events in iCal?

This is probably not possible, but I have by some circumstance two calendars for my classes. For instance, I have Classes and then I have Class Schedule. The Classes calendar gives me the agenda for my classes but they're all-day events (for instance Chemistry). The Schedule calendar would then tell me that I have "Block 3" (Chem class) from 2-3. Is it possible to make the Chem calendar replace every event that is named Block 3 in the Schedule Calendar, and so on?

How to merge versions of ical

Got a problem:
MacBook AIR runs 10.7 so iCloud would be free BUT
iMac runs OS10.5 so iCloud is not free. No funds to buy 10.7 for the iMac or pay for iCloud.
Don't have a MobileMe subscription and it's closed to new ones. Don't have iPad or iPhone.
iCal and Addresses on the two machines EACH have some new data (had emergency family trip interstate).
How can I MERGE the data of the two versions of iCal and Addresses instead of overwriting one from the other and losing one lot of changes?
Any help appreciated!

I want to copy the calendars (and all the events) from my iMac to my macBookPro. I tried to copy the Library>Application Support>iCal files but when i open iCal, i see the previous version, not the new one. Which file do i have to copy to see my new events and calendars in iCal?

How to remove calendar in ical

I clicked on a link that added a calendar to my ical which has now synced with my Google calendar and added all the events to it as well. Unfortunately, I did not realize that this was going to add every single instance (multiple events per day) to all my calendars.
I'd like to reverse this action but there is not easy way to do this in ical it seems. I cannot "delete" the calendar because it does not appear in the list of subscribed calendars in ical.
I subscribed to two calendars this way and I'd like to remove them both. I also have to now deal with how to remove hundreds of entries in my Google calendar....and it seems there is no batch delete there either unless I pay for a third party program....arrrgh
If anyone can shed some light on this I'd be most grateful.

This adds the events contained in this calendar directly to iCal and I can't for the life of me find a way to "unsubscribe" or eliminate these entries short of erasing them manually one by one. Unfortunately, there are many of them.
If you know how I may go about doing this in an efficient manner, please let me know!

How to merge calendar month dimension on dashboard??

can anyone get me solution for below issue?
Report : Vendor Performance
Reporting tool : Dashboard
Selection : Vendor1
Requirement : Should show the report as you see in pic 1
1. I have three different KPI's which has to be shown in same table like u see in Pic 1 and each KPI values comes from different queries.
2. When i map this data to excel i am getting values as you see in Pic 2, Pic 3 and Pic 4.
3. if you see Pic 1 (data comes from query 1) there is data for JAN where as we dont have JAN data for Pic 2( or query 2).
Now my question is how we can combine all this values as we see in Pic 1?.. I need all values to be shown for respective month. for example if there is no data for march and it should be blank.
Can it be done on BW side if not in BO?\
Note : I am able to done this on webi report by merging calendar month for all three query.

It can be on BW side also. Check with your BW team if all three queries are built on different infoproviders if yes built a multiprovider on top of all infoproviders and create a new query. This query will have calendar month and your KPI1, KPI 2 and KPI3 key figures in it.
You can use this single query in Dashboard now.
As suggested by others you can use webi merged dimension functionality or HLOOKUP also.

How to merge pages within the same document?

Can I merge pages within the same pdf document? I have two large maps, an east and west, can I put the two pages together to make one map?

How different are the layouts?
You can vary the left and right pages:
+Inspector > Layout > Section > Configuration > Left and right pages are different+
But the position of the headers, footers and margins will be the same.
You could make different designs and capture those but each would have to be its own section. This sort of thing works better in Layout mode, where every page is a different section, but you won't get automatic text flow nor TOC, footnotes etc.
Pages rapidly gets very clumsy when you try to do detail layout to this extent.

Click on the subscription and use iCal>Edit>Delete, or right click on the subscribed calendar and choose "Delete" from the contextual menu.

How to import calendar into iCal?

I am trying to import a calendar into iCal. Here is my AppleScript:

I have specified a full path for theFile in the actual script. Here is what happens when I run it:
The iCal icon starts jumping and the script just stays running. If I hunt around I can find the "Add events" window and it is just sitting there waiting for interaction. If I click the pop up button and select New Calendar then click OK the file imports like I wanted and my script errors out saying it can't find the "Add Events" window. Clearly my script loads the file into iCal fine. Then it has problems. Here are my guesses as to what goes wrong:
1. maybe the "Add event" window is modal and iCal won't respond to the script until the window is dealt with.
2. maybe the pop up button is not a pop up button and is some other UI element .
3. maybe there is an issue with focus
4. maybe I have no clue, should stop speculating, and someone will help me.

I'm stuck too. Although the Accessibility Inspector describes the “Add events” window as belonging to iCal, the script seems not to see that window as a UI element of iCal:

How to merge calendars?

I have several separate named calendars in my account and would like to merge them into a single new calendar. Does anyone know how to do this? I have several devices and synch the iCals via iCloud.

Select a calendar. From the File menu choose 'Export...' then 'Export...'; from the sub-menu. This will create an .ics file at the location chosen in the Export dialog.
Repeat with other calendars you wish to merge.
Either create a new calendar or select an existing one to import the other calendars into.
From the File menu choose 'Import...' then 'Import...' from the sub-menu. A navigation pane will open: navigate to and choose one of your exported .ics files.
iCal will ask you where to import this to. Click the drop-down menu and select the of calendar of your choice. Import.
Repeat for the other exported files.
Note that once merged in this way there is no way of un-merging them other than entry by entry.

Unfortunately duplicates will be created using any merge method, but you may be able to use iCal Dupe Deleter, by John Maisey, to get rid of the dupes.

Multiple google calendar within iCal [10.8]

Dear iCal experts!
I have a multible google calendar in my google account (two calendars in one account). How can I make them both availabel inside iCal?
Right now it only apears the main google calendar which is connected to my google email address.
I found some help for older iCal versions but it does not help me with the latest version of iCal (6.0).
It would be very helpful if I could see and edit all of my google calendars with OSX iCal and iOS iCal.

just got a new MBPro w/ 10.8 and was looking for this myself.
i think i stumbled across it.
calendar -> preferences -> accounts -> delegation tab
i found my 2 google calendars here.
i check the boxes and now they show up and sync in iCal 6.0.
now if i could only find some way to turn off that ugly brown skin on the title bar, i'd be really happy...
hope that's what you're looking for. it was not obvious to me when i was tring to figure it out the 1st day...

How do change calendars in ical just updated to mt lion?

I just upgraded to mt lion and thus upgraded ical in the process I seem to have lost the ability to switch calendars for an already created event. Any suggestions how to get this feature back?
By the way my computer and files are not connected to the cloud and only sync with my iphone, so it is not a syncing problem although some events do seem to not sync to my phone.

Thanks for the question. You are definitely able to change the calendar an event belongs to after creation:
Calendar: Update or delete an event

If you created an event, you can change any of its settings.
Calendar it belongs to
Double-click the event, click Edit, and choose a calendar from the Calendar menu.
You can also simply right click on the event and choose "Calendar > [calendar name]"
