How to merge fillable pdf forms?

Hi...
I had a 40 pages pdf document ...which i divided into 8 parts and converted each of these 8 documents into fillable pdf forms using Life Cycle Designer...
Now How can I merge these 8 files together.?
When I was trying to merge these files thru Acrobat...its giving me an error saying "adobe xml files cannot be merged" .
Thanks....

In Adobe Acrobat use File > Create PDF > From Multiple Files...
Won't work with files created in Designer. You'll just get the same error as the OP.
A PDF package is the only option available for Designer forms.
(although you WILL get that option after you let "create from multiple documents" fail.)

  • How to save fillable pdf form *without* the blue highlight?

Clicked "remove highlight" and it went away.
Saved file as extended other so I can fill in and save when opened.
Open it and it still has all fields highlighted in the blue. How to I change this to be transparent?
    Thanks so much!

Thanks for the respons... if that is the case how come when I open fillable pdf's in AA from other people there is no highlight. But when I open the one I just created, there is highlight. That's all on the same computer with the same preferences?

  • How to return fillable pdf form via distribute function in live cycle?

I am trying to have a fillable form be submitted back/returned by e-mail (through using outlook)to multiple users, via the distribute form function through livecycle, so that they know a pdf form has been completed and sent back and that I can place the information in the dataset as well (in case I need to export the info). Currently the distribute function only accepts it going to one e-mail, even if I seperate the e-mails with a ";". How do I have the form e-mail multiple users and allow me to place the form field data go into a dataset via distribution?

I tried it and I am seeing what you are seeing. If I send to a single user then it works fine. I think it might be outlook blocking the multi-address through programmatic interfaces. They do this so that viruses cannot turn your mail client into a spam generation. This is simply a guess.

  • How to modify fillable pdf forms

I'm using Mac OS 10.7.2.  I've been applying for a job through the Veterans Administration website, usajobs.
I have not been able to save the fillable PDF documents as the website says I should.
Every time I try to save, I lose the information I've typed in.
The website says it should work with Safari 5.0, but it does not.
It also says it should work with Acrobat Reader 9, but it does not. The tech at Acrobat said I needed Acrobat Pro X, which costs $489 and with a Mac does not have a trial period.
I also tried something called PDF Pen, but that messed up the information in the forms.
    Any suggestions?
Also, if I get far enough that I can save the data, it also requires me to sign the forms.  Any idea of how I can do that?
    Thanks

Fill out the form, and instead of saving, File->Export... and save as a PDF with a different name.   If this works, you will need to do this with each edit.

  • How to receive fillable PDF forms from clients & be able to save them?

    Hi everyone,
So I have been having trouble with this for a while now.
Basically for work, my assignment was to create a PDF that could have fillable forms and a button at the bottom of the page sending to my coworkers' emails.
How it would work:  Once a person fills out the form and presses the send button at the bottom of the PDF, it would send to my coworkers' emails and they could save the documents with the fillable data.
Everything works except for the saving process.  Once my coworkers receive the email, they get different error messages that look like the following (and they CANNOT SAVE the PDFs... so it makes the whole idea worthless):
Here is how the messages read:
    1) First image on the left: the box reads "Save a Blank Copy of this Form"
underneath it it says "Data typed into this form will not be saved.  Adobe Reader can only save a blank copy of this form.
    2) 2nd image:  the box reads "Sending Data Files by Email"
underneath it says "Please note: This form contains an email submit button.  Clicking this button will email a data file containing data you type into this form.  However, the form itself will not be sent.  Remember you cannot save a completed copy of this form with Adobe Reader 9 or later.
    3)  3rd image:  reads "the file you are attempting to open contains comments or form data that are supposed to be placed on.  This document cannot be found.  It may have been moved, or deleted.  Would you like to browse to attempt to locate this document?
So, I was wondering if there is any way around this.  Is there away to have the PDF sent back to my coworkers so they can then save the FILLABLE PDF and organize it in a folder.
If there isn't... then is there a way to have it send back to my coworkers and have them print out the fillable PDF and organize the PDFS coming in that way?

Yes, you just need to Reader-enable the document, which will allow Reader to save the complete PDF form. When you set up the Submit button, choose the option that sends the complete PDF, as opposed ot just the form data (FDF, XFDF).
To Reader-enable a document in Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
Do this as the final step when preparing the document to be sent out.

  • How to save Fillable PDF form created in XI - So Acrobat Reader can fill out and send back

Hi, Im extremely hopeful someone can help me with this question, Ive had extreme luck with this question site, you have all been amazing.
I have created a fillable form in Adobe Acrobat XI and I have saved my work and Im ready to send the form to my client.
I have been told that I need to save my file in a manner that the general public that does not have Acrobat XI, and mainly has acrobat reader, will be able to open, fill my form out, and send back to me completed.
    How do I do this.
Ive run a couple tests with coworker and its not allowing the saving of the information that she filled out.
Does anyone know how I need to save and distribute this form so I get it back filled out from my clients? that probably have only reader?
thanks in advance for your help.
    Amy

I think I figured this out???? My pdf tester has gone to bed, so hopefully I will know by morning if this is my solution......
Open the PDF in Acrobat XI (the form you have saved that is ready to be filled out to whoever you distribute the form to).
Choose Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader (Acrobat 8/9) (if you have XI do not do this step, but do step 4 for XI)
    or
File > Save As >Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features (Acrobat X) (Its actually not in save as, but in save as other)
Save the PDF using a different file name, you will be using this new file to be the file you will distribute.
When you now open the PDF in Adobe Reader you will be able to fill the form and save the data and then send it back to the author that is requesting the form to be filled out.

Tools > Content > Edit Document Text
Better yet, edit the original source document, create a new PDF, and replace the old pages with the new: Tools > Pages > Replace

  • Acrobat 9Pro - How to add a submit (to email address) button for an online fillable PDF form.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but this is my first time trying to add a submit button to the bottom of a online fillable pdf form. I have 5 of these froms to do. I need the user to go to my website, click the link to open an online fillable form, fill it out and click a submit button in the form, so it can be emailed to an individual. I thought I followed all the steps correctly in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, every which way I could find, but the form gives me an error "this operation not permitted", it's in IE, created in Vista and I now have a headache. Do I need to add extra code to my website html somewhere?
Does anyone have the neccessary steps to make this work, a video would be even better. Do I have to have this LifeCycle Designer thing?

Some comments based on your application:
    1. It looks like might likely exceed the 500 use limit, in that case to not use Reader Rights or you will violate the license. The cost beyond that can be negotiated with Adobe (if they will talk to you), but don't expect it to be check. In that case, submit the form data as and FDF file. This file can be imported into the form at your end and get exactly the same results as if the whole form had been sent. The FDF submission does not require Reader Rights. The parent will still be able to print the form, but saving would require having Acrobat, not Reader.
    2. A lot of the data appears to be personal in terms of the name of children, addresses, etc. It would be a good idea to check with legal counsel about submitting such information by e-mail, particularly for children. E-mail is not generally considered secure, unless you possibly used some form of secure e-mail. For that reason you should consider submitting the data to a web script that would be stored someplace for you to obtain it and possibly send you a notice of receipt. A secure website is preferred for this use. You should keep the option open for anyone to submit the form in paper if they object to the potential security risks with your online submission method.
I know those put rinkles in your forms, but for such an application it is a good idea to consider the potential consequences if you do not worry about the form security and number of uses. The potential is to put you out of business or more. OK, an extremist view, but worth considering.

  • Can I create calculated fields using formscentral on a locally created, fillable PDF form?  If so, how?

I am using Acrobat XI Pro to build a fillable PDF form that can be used by customer who have Adobe Reader installed.  I would like to create calculated fields, including the summation of two or more currency fields and the product of a currency and number field.  The procedure for creating these escapes me.  Does anyone have any insight?

    Hi Gilad,
thankyou! - yes it seems though I was using the text tool when I had this problem: When I had created a few fields in the 'form edit' mode I then may later have added some normal 'comment' fields of text in the normal mode to highlight certain aspects on a form - I used the text tool thinking that was the right way in to add or edit text - I can now see I double click with the hand tool to still be able to access any text field I want to. Yay!
Many thanks for your kind assistance - I shall try this method later on a new form I was trying to create and which was giving me grief.
One last thing then: what is that default text field that can't be deleted actually for - why is it there? After all, a 'blank pdf' should surely be a truly blank pdf? Perhaps this is one for mighty Adobe....?
    Kind Regards,
    Pete

  • HTML and Fillable PDF forms

    My question is two-fold:
    1. How easy is it to convert an existing fillable PDF form to HTML? What tools are needed to facilitate this process? I know Amgraf has a product that enables this, but I'm looking for a solution that perhaps LiveCycle can render. Is this possible within Designer, or does it require a different LiveCycle server component?
    2. Let's say I was able to achieve item#1 above... what is the process / script necessary to capture HTML form data and have it populate a blank version of an exisiting fillable PDF residing on a server? I understand there is some intermediate CGI script involved, but unsure how to implement this process.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

You can use FormsIVS on LC server to see what your form will look like in html.
Save your PDF as a xdp in Designer and copy over to the forms folder that FormsIVS uses.  I just did a search for *.xdp
    On my box it is
    C:\jboss-4.2.0_mssql2005\server\LC_SERVER\tmp\deploy\tmp262394240426adobe-forms-ivs-jboss. ear-contents\FormsIVS-exp.war\forms
If you have LC server bring up FormsIVS in a browser.  http://LC_SERVER:8080/FormsIVS/
If its your first time, goto Check/Change your preferences and set the admin user name/pwd
then Click on Test your form designs link
Select your form and for Output format select html4.  Click Use EJB or WebService.
What you'll see in your browser is the form rendered by LC in HTML format.  If you wrote script it may not work in HTML rendering.
As for populating a form, you should be able to use FormDataIntegration.Import/Export data or Output service to take xml data and merge it to a blank pdf.  You may want to map a XSD to the form if the structure is complex vs. using the out of the box form structure.  If you have acrobat you can see what that looks like by navigating Forms>Manage Form Data > Export Data.  Not very good if you've got repeating rows.

  • How do I get PDF forms to export to excel in the desired order?

How do I get PDF forms to export to excel in the desired order?
Here is what I have done:
    As taken from another post:
Choose Forms > Manage Form Data > Merge Data Files Into Spreadsheet.
In the Export Data From Multiple Forms dialog box, click Add Files.
In the Select file Containing Form Data dialog box, select a file format option in File Of Type option (Acrobat Form Data Files or All Files). Then locate the form files that you want to merge into the spreadsheet, select them, and click Select.
Repeat the previous step to add form data files that are in other locations, as needed.
Click Export. Then select a folder and filename for the spreadsheet, and click Save.
In the Export Progress dialog box, click either View File Now to open the spreadsheet file or Close Dialog to return to Acrobat."
The problem now is that Adobe populates Excel in ABC order of the form, based off of the name of each box in the form. For example, if my form has three text boxes, named A, B, and C, then Adobe will export to Excel as such:
    Row 1 =         A                              B                              C
Row 2 =         data entered             data entered              data entered
where 'data entered' is whatever the user typed into the form boxes. But what if I want a different order for exporting, and I don't want to rename my text boxes? What if I want:
    Row 1 =         C                              B                              A
Row 2 =         data entered             data entered              data entered   ?
Is there a way to do this in acrobat x or xi?
    Thanks

I don't have time to test right now, but there was a change with Acrobat 10 where it exports according to the tab order, which you may have to set manually, so give that a shot. Otherwise, you'll have to process the file after it's exported if you need the fields in a particular order. This wouldn't be too difficult to do with something like a VBS or JS script in Windows.
