how to migrate data from MS Access to Oracle???????

You can use heterogeneous services (HS) connection to MS-Access from Oracle and still use the same PL/SQL (or even a single CTAS statement) or SQL to load directly to Oracle tables. It's transparent, quick and clean as opposed to writing complex control files.
You might have to set the ODBC connection to your Access database and add the details to Oracle listener.
Please let me know if you are not sure how to set up the connection.

Oracle Migration Workbench is outdated and replaced by SQL Developer Migration Workbench.

  • How to Migrate VM Server pool to Other Oracle VM Manager

    Hi,
I want to move oracle server pool from One Oracle VM Manager to other VM manager.
Can any one help me on how to migrate vm server pool to other VM Manager.
    Thanks & Regards
    YJR

    Hi,
unfortunately I don't know of an easy supported way.
The process itself is pretty similar to migrating serverpools to Enterprise Manager as described in this note:
Migrating from Oracle VM Manager to Enterprise Manager Grid Control (Doc ID 807091.1)
With the exception that you simply register the new pool in a new manager and then have to rediscover all VMs.
So overall it is a simple "delete serverpool" and "create serverpool" with additional import of virtual machines.
If during this steps a problem arise, you still can deconfigure everything and reregister with the new manager (with the help of cleanup.py).

  • How to migrate a weblogic project files into oracle 9i JDeveloper?

    Hi,
I have a simple customer registration website (on top of 8.1.7 DB using oracle jdbc thin driver) as follow:
    It is all under c:\weblogic\myserver\public_html\jsp\
    (Which is the document root)
    12 html files under c:\weblogic\myserver\public_html\jsp\
    40 JSP files under c:\weblogic\myserver\public_html\jsp\cut
    10 image files under c:\weblogic\myserver\public_html\jsp\images
    1 java package under

The following is from the properties file under weblogic directory. What do I need to configure in oc4j as a web logic

It there any how to steps to import it and be working- into Jdeveloper and deploy it against oc4j that I downloaded as a web server. I searched and contacted friends even at oracle and reached dead end.
Is there a migration from bea to oracle 9i that exist and that is tried and found to be working?
If so what are the details that makes it successfull all the way?
Can all those files be maintained in JDeveloper 3.2.3 or 9 keeping -your recommended- directory sturcture?
What are steps to setup the web server?
So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.

    - Error Msg N/A
    - Oracle 8.1.7 with thin JDBC driver

There are two ways of doing this:
    a) You do a system copy using R3load
This will give you a "free" reoganization because the tables will be loaded into the database as if you were doing a new installation. The disadvantage is, that it takes more time and good planning.
    b) you do a system copy using backup/restore together with the database upgrade
This is a fast way to get your system upgraded and if something goes wrong you can still use the old system. Check
Note 932722 - Upgrade to Oracle 10.2 during a database copy
this is a note for Windows but you can adapt it to be used on Unix/HP-UX too.
    And just as a remark:
The "free" support for Oracle 10g is ending next year in June (see Note 1339724 - Oracle 10.2 Extended Support free until July 31, 2011) - after that you have to buy additional support if you want to continue to run 10g. If you run now a migration/upgrade project, why not upgrade directly to 11g?

  • How to migrate Azure SQL Codefirst DB to Oracle database?

    Hi,
we have been developing a Web application with Windows Azure Code first  SQL DB using Code first approach.
In the future we want to migrate our Azure SQL Code first DB to Oracle. If we migrate it to Oracle, does the application works fine? or do we need to do any additional actions in migrating from Azure SQL Code first  db to Oracle DB?
It would be great if  anyone provides me complete information on this.

    Hi,
You should be able to move the Azure SQL Code First Database to Oracle Database. You will have to make minor changes, for e.g connection string.
Please have a check on the below link which talks about using Entity Framework 6 Code First with Azure SQL database as a backend. It will give you an idea on how to approach your migration.

  • Access update cascade ref constraint question

Access allows the definition of update cascade referential
constraints. This type of constraint is not allowed to be
defined declaratively in Oracle, but can be implemented using
trigger code. Does the Access module in Migration Workbench
create the required triggers to enforce update cascade
    relationships?
    Thanks,
    George

Well, there is no UPDATE CASCADE clause supported in Oracle.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/data_int.htm#sthref2962
You can refer to following link from Tom Kyte as to how you can implement the UPDATE CASCADE.

  • Heeeeelp - on update cascade

    hi all
I posted the same question inn this forum but did not get any answer i'll try again in this post
my problem is that i created my tables in the database without on delete cascade on the foreign constraint and now 'm trying to modify that
I dropped the old foreign constraint and created new one with "on delete cascade" this worked fine for one table but when i came to the other tables it gave me this error:
ORA-02443:cannot drop constraint - constraint unavailable
but I'm sure the constraint with the name i used is available !!!
    what are your suggestions???
    another problem:
how to implement on update cascade in Oracle?
    I found a solution in http://asktom.oracle.com/tkyte/update_cascade/index.html#download
but I don't know how to use , if someone knows please help
    Thanks in advance

    1 .
    select constraint_type,constraint_name from user_constraints where table_name='<TABLE_NAME>' and
see if the constraint name that you are trying to delete exists.

  • It's possible ON UPDATE CASCADE in table relationships?

    Hi, how are you?
Sorry my weak English, I'm brazilian.
I like create an "ON UPDATE CASCADE" in my table relationship but find only "ON DELETE CASCADE" in Oracle 9i Database Online Documentation.
    I would like your help.
    Thank you.
    Eduardo A. Reche Lopes
    Team T.I.
    www.coodetec.com.br

Tom Kyte wrote a package for this:
    UPDATE CASCADE PACKAGE
Generates needed package and triggers to support update cascade in Oracle without removing or infringing on DECLARITIVE RI.
    This package supports:
    - Tables with multi-part primary keys (primary key(a,c,b))
    - Update cascade to many child tables from one parent
    - Self-referencing integrity such as that found in the SCOTT.EMP table (mgr->empno)
    - Is completely application transparent. The application does not know it is happening
    - Versions 7.0 and above of the database.
    - Tuned and optimized to fully avoid full table scans on all tables (complete with utility to show you un-indexed foreign keys in a schema, Cascading an update to un-indexed foreign keys can be bad).
