How to Migrate Apple Mail to Opera Mail?

I'm trying to migrate all my mail from Apple Mail to Opera Mail. Opera allows for this but you have to give it the file/directory. I used their initial suggestions to get ~/library/preferences/com.apple.mail and that got the most recent inbox things, but didn't move things in my folders or any of the sent mail.
Has anyone done this? If so, can you please share how you accomplished it?
Thanks,
kork

Actually I did find a way to do this. While tedious and laborious it works like a champ.
Step 1. In Apple Mail, for every folder you want to save in Opera, you highlight that folder, then right click and choose "Archive Mailbox" then save it to your desktop or whatever. Rename that desktop folder to whatever you want to import as. Repeat this for each mail folder you want to migrate.
Step 2. Go to Opera and select File->Import and Export->Import Mail. From the next dialog, choose Import generic mbox file and click Next.
Then click the "Add Folder" button and select a folder from the exported mail you selected in step 1. Repeat the add folder and selection for the folders you are importing. For "import into" you can either choose a "new account" (in which case it will attach the messages to an already existing account you have) or you can choose "new account" which will attach them to "localhost". If you do import most than once, be sure to select the right account each time. If you select new account every time it will just create another account and you won't be able to change it.
That's it. As I said, it's laborious, but its the only way I could find to do this without using some third party program.
Cheers,
Kork

  • Does anyone know how to get apple mail in Lion to connect with Exchange 2007?

Does anyone know how to get apple mail in Lion 10.7.2 to connect with Exchange 2007?  It worked perfectly with Snow Leopard... upgraded to lion and it won't work.  We use Exchange 2007 with SP 3 and Rollup 4.  Won't connect... and I can't get Apple to give me any direction.

We finally got it to work today.  We had to call and pay for the microsoft support service, but the issue was on the server end.  We had to go into the iis manager... went to sites... when to default website...and changed the SSL settings for Auto Discover, EWS Exadmin, echange, exchweb, owa... and the rest..
Change the settings to ignore client certificates.
Problem solved. Can finally send and receive.

  • How to Forward Apple Mail

Can you tell me how to forward apple mail? I need a more powerful junk/spam screener that Yahoo.com provides....
    <E-mail Edited by Host>

    Not sure I understand correctly:
Apple Mail is a desktop email client; Yahoo is an online email service.
Is your problem that Apple Mail does not filter junk mail well enough? And you want to open your Apple Mail in Yahoo Mail?
Or are you currently getting your Yahoo mail forwarded to Apple Mail and opening it on Apple Mail?

  • How to configar apple mail

how to configar apple mail & what is the defult path of mails storge?

    Hello suhas.tawade,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Configuring Mail for your email account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277
Mail can automatically get the email account settings for many email service providers
    Open Mail.
Choose Add Account from the File menu. If this is the first time you've opened Mail, you will be automatically prompted to add an account.
Enter your Full Name, email address, and password. See Mac 101: Mail article for more information.
    Best of luck,

  • How to repair Apple Mail's frozen 'send' button?

how to repair Apple Mail's frozen 'send' button?

More details on the particular "adjustments", please?
AFAIK, there's no documented to insinuate a change into an outbound SMTP message (if that's what you're up to here) within Apple Mail.
Most commonly, these sorts of header adjustments arise at an intermediate mail server.  Usually spam filters have something similar.
If these particular "adjustments" are possible within Mail, then it's likely via the undocumented plugins API underneath Apple Mail.  And, well, that API is not documented.  And the plugins API has changed at various Apple Mail updates, too; it's clearly not a stable API.

  • How to migrate addresses Mail remembers, into Address Book?

So I just discovered I could make mailing lists using Address Book, but that leaves me with a giant task. Since I started using Apple Mail, I've entered many addresses which Mail now remembers, but ... Mail does not automatically migrate the remembered addresses I've entered in its To/Cc/Bcc header lines, into Address Book. So, I will have to enter the addresses I want to put in a group, into Address Book manually, unless ... someone knows how to transfer Mail's remembered addresses (i.e. the dropdown choices Mail gives you when you start typing a name/address it has seen before) into the Address Book application.
Also I've never been able to determine if there is any way to delete or change the addresses which Mail remembers. I now have a bunch of addresses for people who have changed their email address, and their past addresses appear in the dropdown list when I start typing their name. Anyone know how to manage Mail's remembered addresses?

This didn't work for me. I highlighted a bunch of addresses in the 'previous recipients' list, clicked 'Add to Address Book' then closed out and looked in the address book. None of the names were to be found. Noting that the functionality of the 'add [address] to Address Book' dropdown is also missing, is there currently some incompatibility between Mail (v4.4) and Address Book (v5.0.3) that needs to be remedied?

  • After crash, how do stop apple mail (os 10.7.5, applemail 5.3) from pulling in old mail on reboot

I've got a frustrating problem and need your help.
My Mac pro (os 10.7.5) froze so I was forced to push the button to restart.
After reboot, apple mail 5.3 auto opened and pulled in thousands of old mail that were long ago deleted.
Now, is there a way to mass delete the new/old mail that reappeared without losing what mail I wanted to save?
More importantly, how can I avoid this the next time my mac freezes because it's not the first time it's happened and it's does not happen on every crash.
    Please advise
    Thanks

The mail that keeps coming back is what is still sitting on your mail server. If this is a POP mail account you can configure Mail to delete mail that has been downloaded.
Click Mail in the menu bar and select Preferences. In Preferences, click Accounts and select your mail account on the left, then click Advanced. There you can decide on the setting you want: "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message", to for example After one day.
If you have an IMAP account  - say gmail - the process is different. Post back if that is what you have.

  • After crash/reboot, how do get apple mail to stop pulling in old/deleted mail?

This has happend so many times, it's getting frustrating.
Finder or another program freezes, I force quit and the mac freezes.
I restart, open apple mail and it startes pulling in every piece of mails sitting on the mail server.
It's happened too many times and I end up having to delete thousands of emails.
Any idea why and how I can stop this from happening?
    Thanks

  • How to Import Apple Mail Folders on Second User Account

I purchased a new MBP after the old one failed.  At the Apple Store I set up a User ID for the new MBP.  I then used the Migration utility later on to bring in all my data from my late MBP.  This included all my Mail folders.  Now I want to get a selection of those Mail Folders to the New User ID.  I have tried exporting a folder to a USB flash drive, told Apple Mail to import it in the new ID but without success.  Is there another way to get the selected mail folders over to the new ID?  Currently I have way too much mail on the old migrated ID.  I have been running DupeZap to try and reduce the duplicate messages but that's another story.  I just want to get the good folders (no duplicates) over to the new User ID.  I seem to recall that back with Tiger you could use a drop box or public folder to pull files/data from one user ID to another.  Is this still possible or is there another option I can try?
    Thanks for advice and guidance.

If both system are using the IMAP mail provider all you have to do is setup the connection to the mail server and all the emails and folders will be copied down to the windows computer. That is what IMAP is for. The mail stays on the server, and can be store
on the local computer also, and when you connect to the server with another device, computer, phone or pad, all the mail with folders gets copied to the other device.
But I think some of your mail was gotten using POP so it is not longer on the server.
Or you have emails in local folder only and they would be on the server. But you can create folder on the server in one mail program, or on the mail web interface and then copy those emails into those folder on the server byt copying them in one of the email
programs. Then when you log on with the other device all of them will be downloaded to the other device.
Other alternative:- You can find various solutions on having a google search
for your problem. Or you can have a look at the following link: Apple mail to Outlook Windows

  • How to stop Apple Mail reverting to new msgs at bottom?

Have been having this problem ever since installing Mavericks. AppleCare keeps telling me they will tell me how to stop this and have my new messages at the top again, but still haven't told me. Every day I have to re-set this because it reverts back.  Makes no difference WHERE I re-sent this.
Having many other AppleMail problems: For one thing, am not receiving some important emails which do show up in Web Mail.

I have done that countless times. I have also done it countless times at the small place at the top of the emails where it says "Sort By Date."  Neither works at all.  However, yesterday I did the major rebuild of Apple Mail and this morning for the first time when I went there it said "Newest Msg at the Top" so hopefully that was it.

  • How to fix Apple Mail full message index in Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)?

I've tried all the solutions proposed in the past five years for this recurring failure of Apple Mail.
Many of those no longer apply because the OS X has evolved.
In April 2013 is their an effective fix or am I forced to migrate to Thunderbird?
Surprising that Apple has allowed this problem to continue for soooooo long.
Or is there an APP that can find messages in mail for me? EasyFind doesn't seem to work.
    Thank you for suggestions.

The "issue" is the need to spend my time answering inquiries smoothly, efficiently, effectively with no headaches, no hassles, no downtime. THAT's why I dumped my Windows machines and re-invested in my Macs after a long stint in Windows World.
Fixing Apple Mail is NOT my job and certainly not "my" issue. Getting work done is my issue.
Happy users don't try alternative software.
Obviously the shortcoming of Apple Mail prompted you to get Postbox and "try it very briefly".
Calling Postbox rubbish is utter nonsense. Apple Mail is not "my own" and Postbox is not "my own".
Hardware and software are just tools to do a job and achieve an end and reach a goal.
Plenty of torrents offer Postbox for free.
But I was so impressed with its ease of use and comprehensive indexing that the company certainly deserves compensation for their efforts and I paid for it on the first day of a 30-day free trial.
Religiously supporting Apple regardless of extensive and widespread reporting of Apple Mail's multiple indexing problems, aside from all of Spotlight's widely reported indexing problems and CPU power consumption, but offering NO ACTUAL help, only stating the obvious -- "You have a problem." -- is not the purpose of Apple Support Communities. That is not support.
You offered no "steps to troubleshoot it now". You suggested no "simple but effective measures." You suggested no "maintenace tools".
THAT'S what I needed. THAT'S what lot's of other Apple Users need. That's what you should post here and lots of people would give you plenty many points.
All of the MANY fixes I tried were specific suggestions from the Support Community here and elsewhere trying to offer solutions that worked for them in the past -- support. Unfortunately, most of those suggestions were dated and didn't solve the problem. None of them solved the problem.
But they did offer well-intentioned, specific "simple but effective measures" and "steps to "troubleshoot" the problem. That's what people are looking for here, not just commentary.
In this case, best solution for me that got work (helping people) back on track was effortlessly slide into a great app that does the job with no problems whatsoever (so far).
The APP cost LESS than a drive to the Apple Store.
The REAL issue is solved. The REAL issue is fixed.
And I hope this one more additional option helps other Apple users get on with USING their machine, not trying to find fixes for buggy Apple apps.
Apple does not do all things the best.
Apple Mail worked OK until the last quarter's multiple software updates which I accepted believing they were fixes and improvements. The Apple experience degraded.
Any Apple Mail users experiencing problems with it should DEFINITELY consider moving to Postbox. It's great. And it's FREE for 30 days.
It is NOT HERESY to suggest Postbox works much better than Apple Mail. It's the truth.
Apple Mail working properly is still not as good as Postbox IN MY OPINION based on my personal experience.
I don't sell Postbox. I don't sell apps. I'm just posting a solution for other users to consider because it was such a relief to be able to "just use" my Mac again.

I do not want to use or set up Apple Mail, but it continues to pop up asking me to set it up. I have no intentions of doing that. How can I disable it? I have tried the following:
    1. Setting it up and disabling it --> it screwed up my system
    2. I tried to remove only the mail ---> It messed up my system and asks where the mail is in pop ups.
    3. I've tried Google notifier and setting that as my default --> Doesn't work
    4. I've checked the preferences, accounts, login items ----> Mail is not listed
    HELP!

I finally figured out why the mail kep't on popping up. The mail does not normally behave this way. However, my calendar was inheriting from my Google calendar and they had alerts. These alerts kept pushing their messages to Apple Mail and thus it kept popping up. After I disabled that it has stopped annoying me. I tried every other imaginable thing. I hope this helps those who have a similar malady with their Apple Mail.
