How to migrate certificate for a native installer
Hello,
We have a native AIR app that uses some native files, so it needs to be packaged using "adt -package -target native [files...]" command and cannot be created as an AIRI file.
We include the SWF file, the app description XML and the required native files into the installer, and we also include our code signing certificate into this command line, and everything worked great.
Recently our code signing certificate expired, and we released an update with a new certificate.
However on the machines where our application had been installed previously, installation fails with the following error.
The certificate of the installed app fails to match either the signature or migration signature of the AIR file
It turns out that AIR framework expects a migration signature for applications that had been installed before and changed certificate.
The problem is that "adt -migrate" command expects an .AIR file, and fails to migrate a native installer (such as .EXE or .APP).
How should we migrate a native installer? is there any option in adt to do this?
Thank you in advance,
Anatoly
I know this is an older post, but it helped me find out how to make the migration procedure for native installer. I tried it with self signed certificate created by ADT tool and everything went fine.
But now, we obtained a commercial AIR signing certificate from Thawte and the process failes in step 3) ADT saying
'Certificate in PATH_TO_P12 could not be used to sign setup.msi' on Windows.
On mac, it says that signing native installer on OSX is not supported, so I skipped the signing option in step 3) and it worked fine.
I can skip the signing option on Windows as well and the process succeeds, but running the installer on machines with previous versions of application results in "Installer mis-configured' error message - the same error as if the migration process was not applied.
I already contacted Thawte if it is a certificate issue, reply from them was 'AIR certificate can only sign .air applications'. But when I build a native application directly from FlashBuilder and sign it with the Thawte certificate the whole process seem to succeed. The application can be installed on machines without previous version of the application. Those who already have the older version get the 'Installer mis-configured' error message.
I want to mark out again, that the same process but with a self signed certificate created with ADT, is successfull and the application can be installer as an update on machines with older version of the app. So I assume the workflow is correct.
Any ideas? Or somebody having the same issue?
Thanks

Migrate certificate for native installer packaged application
Hi,
I need to migrate certificate (to new certificate) for my air app, which is a native installer packaged application. The certification migration steps in the docs mention migrating/ signing the .air app with old and new certificate.
But it doesn't mention anything about the natively packaged air app (the .exe)
How to migrate / sign certificates for native installer ?
Thanks,
BrijeshAIR run time :2.0.3.13070
Yes,I am using the old certificate for migration. However I noticed I was getting following error while migrating.
a) first I got the "Could not create time stamp: timestamp.geotrust.com" exception. I am completely unsure why this error. I didn't use timestamp while generating the old version of the app using the old certificate few days back (before old certificate expired).
b) then I tried to migrate using -tsa none option so that it could migrate to new air.
If this is causing the problem, I need to figure out why I get the timestamp error mentioned in (a)
Thanks,
Brijesh -

How to download certificate for the first time programmatically?
Hi, I'm accessing a https server which has a self signed certificate for the first time. I was trying to download the certificate using like
cert = sslsession.getPeerCertificates()[0]
However I got the following exception: SSLPeerUnverifiedException
If I have the certificate on disk and I installed it using keytool to the keystore, I could see the keychain using this method. But is there a way in java to download the certificate for the first time?
Many thanks.
minjihi ejp, thanks a lot for the link, it really helps a lot.
Now I'm having another problem. I could now download the certificate and store in my keystore. but if I immediately reconnect to the https web page, I still got the exception telling me the certificate was not found:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
This should not happen as I have already had this certificate in my keystore. If I rerun the program, there's no problem, indicating the certificate was really there. I first guessed I might have to again call System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", "mycacerts") but that does not help.
anybody with an idea? -

How to migrate a two node ISE installation to a six node ISE installation
How do we migrate from a two node ISE installation where the primary ISE has IP address A and the
secondary has IP address B to a six node ISE distributed installation with one primary admin ISE,
one secondary admin ISE, one primary monitoring ISE, one secondary monitoring ISE and
one PSN ISE with IP address A and finaly one PSN ISE with IP address B?
It is a production environment so we want to do the transition with minimal service impact.I would assume your current setup is
Node 1 - Primary Admin, Secondary Monitor, PSN
Node 2 - Secondary Admin, Primary Monitor, PSN
Here is a high-level overview of what I think should be done. Keep in mind that it is only my opinion and ultimately I would recommend working with TAC to validate the process to ensure there is minimal impact.
TAKE A BACKUP of Configuration and Operational data.
Install the additional 4 nodes.
Register one as the secondary monitor. This should remove the secondary monitoring role from the other node.
Register another node as the primary monitor. This should remove the primary monitoring role from the other node.
Register the last two nodes as administration nodes in the same process, doing the secondary admin node first, then finally the primary admin node. This should leave the remaining PSN personas installed as the only persona on the original admin nodes. -
How to configure certificates for FTPS
Hi, ALL,
I have to send FTP files to and from outside server using like (SAP XI proxy>FTP, FTP>SAP Xi proxy). I would like to use secure FTP (FTPS). How I can configure it in both sender and receiver FTP adapter? Does the certificate at XI has to be signed by Trusted authority or I can do self signed? Does the outside server need to get the FTP certificate also? Can anybody provide step by step solution?
<promising_points_removed_by_moderator>
Thanks a lot!
MeiyingHi,
It depends if the FTP server certificates are signed for a CA installed in TrustedCA view. The TrustedCA view is a netweaver administration option included in Keystore application.
For example, if the FTP server certificate is signed by verising, SAP contains the certificate of verising installed in TrustedCA, therefore you not have to do anything, but if the server certificate is a certificate created for you, you will have to install the CA wich you signed the certificate.
In my case, I put files into a FTPs server that have a certificate signed by verisign and I haven't to do anything in TrustedCA view because the CA was installed.
In FTP adapter you must to select the FTPS option to communicate to FTP server through SSL.
Best regards
Iván

How to add additional files into Native Installer?
I have extra text and XML files used as configuration files I'd like to package and install into the application directory with my AIR app. I'm trying to create a Native Install package in Flash Builder and I can't figure out how to include these extra files that will be installed. Is there a way to do this in Flash Builder or do I have to use some other method to achieve this?
I have discovered how to get it to work, but I'm not sure what the problem is. I can consistently duplicate it.
If I manually copy a file into the myapp\src folder, the file does not get copied to the bin-debug folder and, thus does not get added to the list of files to include. I build my app dozens of times. This file NEVER appears in the file list under the src folder in the Package Explorer View. Even if I close Flash Builder and open it again, my added file NEVER appears in the file list.
Only if I right click on my project in the Package Explorer View and select Refresh, will the file appear in the list. Then and only then, when I go through the Export process, the file will appear in the list and be included in the AIR package.
That seems like a bug to me. Even if you said it wouldn't detect the file being added while Flash Builder is open, it should at least check the project folder when I open it and update the list with any new files.
I'd still like to know how to get this to work without manually refreshing the project although admittedly I won't be adding files to the project often. -
SSL enabled - how to get certificates
Hi all.
We have an environment where we have to servers, one running identity management 9.0.4 and one running application server 9.0.4. Repository database is in another ORACLE_HOME running on 9.2.0.6
We have OID integrated with AD and users log on to the portal using the AD authentication. Group functionality in the portal are also controlled from AD using global security groups.
The last step we have done is to implement https for both http servers. The SSL hosts has been created as "virtual hostnames" and redirection to SSL host name for the SSO server is enabled for both SSL midtier host name and actual midtier host name on http port 80. So far so good, we are redirected to SSL SSO server from both http and https protocol on the midtier. After login, we are redirected back to the initial server name. However, every time we either:
1) Access midtier SSL host name
2) Access SSO server
3) Are redirected from SSO server back to midtier SSL server we are prompt to accept a certificate. The certificate that exists is a demo certificate that came along with the installation. The feature of Cerificate Authenctication was not installed during initial installation.
Does anyone know how to get a certificate to use with the environment. How is this certificate applied to this installation. Do we need one certificate for each of the installation sinces the http server is installed on separate nodes and further uses SSL in both cases.
Hope that anyone has looked into this an haves some tip. Feel free to pop a mail to [email protected]
rgds
Kjell OveIn EID 3.1, the generate_ssl_keys utility is used to create a local CA and certificates for securing access to Endeca Server. Studio uses these certificates/keys internally to access the secured Endeca Server. These certificates are normally only used to internally secure Studio and Endeca Server (and Provisioning Service) communications.
Securing Studio with SSL/TLS from the client browser to Studio is a separate task. The documentation topic is http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40518_01/studio.310/studio_security/toc.htm#Configuring%20SSL%20on%20the%20Studio%20application%20server which contains links to the application server topics. This is primarily an application-server task - you would follow the instructions for the application-server and/or your certificate/CA supplier, so you end-up with trusted certificates.
One common configuration is to secure Studio SSL/TLS terminated on a reverse-proxy such as OHS, so you may want to consider this option. -
Mobile View For OS6 Native Browser
Hi, I used to have OS5 for my Curve 9300 and for my browser there, I have an option to have either page view or column view. Now when I upgraded to OS6, I seemed to have lost that option and all the site that I browse isn't on mobile view but rather on page view/normal web layout. Is that how it really is for OS6 native browser?

What code signing certificate has to be added for Adobe Air Native Installer?
Hi,
I'm developing Adobe Air application. I need to digitally verify the application to add the publisher's name with the product. I did a little research and came to know that Symantec, Thawte, Comodo, Comodo-Tucows, Digicert, Godaddy and couple of others are doing this.
Yes. I'm talking about the Code Signing Certificate. My question is, What code signing certificate has to be added for Adobe Air Native Installer? The reason is, The native installer will have an extension .exe ( Windows ) and .dmg ( MAC OS X ).
These guys are providing certificate for Adobe Air. For instance, If the application is exported using Native Installer in Windows, The application will have an .exe extension. For this, Can I use the same Adobe Air code signing certificate or Should I go for Microsoft Autheticode ( for .exe ) certificate?
Thanks in advance.I think comodo code signing certificate is one of the nice option to be added for Adobe Air, as i have seen comodo code signing certificate in other adobe programs. Recently i bought comodo code signing from https://cheapsslsecurity.com/comodo/codesigningcertificate.html, to sign one of my adobe application and it works fine, you can use microsoft authenticode technology with comodo code signing.

How to auto update AIR runtime when installing with native installer?
Hi, we recently changed our app to a native installer for both Windows and OS X.
It seemed that when we distributed a .air file the install process would upgrade the installed version of the AIR runtime (if necessary) before installing our application.
Now it seems that if AIR is installed with an old version (say 2.5) and the native installer app is installed (requiring AIR 3.0) an error message appears that says "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author".
My question is how can we have our native installer bring the user's version of the AIR runtime to the minimum required (3.0) or the latest version (3.6)?
The error message displayed to the user does not provide meaningful info.
Thank you so much for your help with this!Hi Chris, thank you for the response. I've spent quite a bit of time browsing the forum and you're sort of a celebrity to me ;-)
The "installer damaged" error message is happening on the first install of our application with older version of the AIR runtime. The app is using the nativeapplicatoinupdater ( http://code.google.com/p/nativeapplicationupdater/ ) project for updates (which is working great once the app is installed).
I performed a few tests on OS X (10.8.2) this evening and here are my results.
AIR 1.5: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. INSTALL OK
AIR 2.04.: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 IS NOT shown. INSTALL FAILS
AIR 2.5.: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 IS NOT shown. INSTALL FAILS
AIR 2.6: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. INSTALL OK
AIR 2.7: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. APP INSTALL OK
So it seems the problem is with AIR 2.04 and 2.5. I uninstalled and reinstalled the AIR runtime for each test. I can consistently reproduce the failed install with 2.04 and 2.5. The same DMG file was used in each test. I have seen similar error messages on Windows 7 when AIR 2.5 was installed, though I didn't get a chance to look at the log to confirm it's the same migration error.
The failed installs seem to drop out because of: "failed while validating native package: Error: invalid migration signature".
Tomorrow I can create a version without the migration certificate to see if it can be successfully installed on 2.04 and 2.5. It's "interesting" that the other versions of the runtime do not fail on this condition.
Here are details from the log:
Here is the log with AIR 1.5 (install Adobe AIR 3.6 (required) is checked and displayed: INSTALL OK

Signing native installer with Apple's Developer ID certificate
I am trying to sign my AIR OSX application using Flash Builder's 4.6 "Export Release Build" option. For this purpose I am using Apple's "Developer ID Application" certificate to be able to install and run my app on OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion.
After identifying correct certificates in the chain and exporting them all to p12 format (I chose "Developer ID Application", "Developer ID Certification Authority" and "Apple Root CA" within Keychain Access application on my Mac) I got the following error: "Error creating native installer file: Packaging failed. Make sure your computer time is in sync and your certificate is valid".
Does anybody has idea how to successfully sign AIR application using Developer ID certificates?Yes I did. I created Apple Developer ID Application certificate on Apple's web site. I imported this to the Keychain Access by double clicking on the downloaded .cer file. I also verified I had installed Developer ID Cerification Authority and Apple Root CA certificates. Then I used codesign utility from terminal to sign all binaries inside the .app folder and the folder itself. In my case this boiled down to:
codesign -f -v -s "Developer ID Application: Company Inc" "Install My App.app/Contents/Resources/MyApp/Contents/MacOS/MyApp"
codesign -f -v -s "Developer ID Application: Company Inc" "Install MyApp.app/Contents/MacOS/Install MyApp"
codesign -f -v -s "Developer ID Application: Company Inc" "Install MyApp.app"
