How to migrate Mac Pro to MacBook Pro?
After cloning my Mac Pro Boot Camp XP2 to my MacBook Pro via Netrestore I realized I'm not sure how to deal with the hardware differences.
XP boots fine on the MacBook Pro but has no trackpad, and no USB mouse support.
I tried to reinstall "Boot camp drivers" twice, first using retail Leopard 1.5.1, second using the MBP Leopard 1.5.0. Both intallers autorun OK, startup but "hang" at "Status: Apple Built-in iSight".
Any suggestions much appreciated!
You are using the same XP copy and license on two different hardware platforms. At the least you need to boot from XP CD once to do a system repair.
Take a look at WinClone http://www.twocanoes.com for restoring Windows (FAT and NTFS) to another hard drive, but isn't designed for moving to different computer (there may be something in their FAQ and forums though).

When your next backup to the same drive starts, you'll get the option to continue using the backups. See #B5 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
Even if you choose to continue, TM will probably do a new, full backup. So if your TM drive isn't well over twice the size of the data it's backing-up, your best bet may be to erase the drive with Disk Utility (don't try deleting via the Finder) and let it start fresh. -

I have just bought a new MacBook Pro and an external hard drive.
Yet I have problems migrating data from my old MacBook Pro (more internal disk space with around 500 GB data) to my new one (internal disk space less than 500 GB).
I have connected all 3 devices but it seems the Migration Assistant does not have an option for us to select to migrate to an external hard drive.
Any other way to do it?

How to get mac address in macbook pro
Go to System Preference -> Network -> Advanced -> Hardware
It's also available in System Information, under the Network section.
Hold down option and select System Information from the Apple menu.
Select Network, then the particular service type: Airport, Ethernet, Firewire
Scroll down till you see MAC Address:
You can also reveal it in the Terminal with ifconfig. en0 is usually ethernet, en1 is Airport, but that depends on your configuration. -

Today I received a refurbished 2012 i5 Mac Mini that I purchased via Amazon. The Mac Mini came with a 256gb Samsung SSD only installed. The Mac Mini also has 10.10.2 Yosemite.
I am planing on ordering an "OWC Data Doubler Mounting Kit" to add another drive onto the Mac Mini.

I also plan on getting a second drive which would be a 1tb SSHD Black Western Digital (16GB SSD) 2.5 SATA III (6.0GB/s) 5400RPM drive.
Now here is where I am a very confused and concerned. What I essentially want to do is use Migration Assistant to completely migrate what I have on a 2012 i7 Macbook Pro's 750gb HDD to the Mac Mini's 1tb SSHD drive. I want every file and setting to be placed on my new Mac Mini just the way it is on the Macbook Pro. The Macbook Pro is however using 10.7.5 Lion while my new Mac Mini is using 10.10.2 Yosemite.
What makes me confused is, if I migrate everything from the Macbook Pro onto the 1tb SSHD, would I still be able to benefit by having the 256gb Samsung SSD in the Mac Mini? For instance, would the Mac Mini still be able to boot up super fast and use the SSD to write and read programs very fast? Or is it because I am migrating everything from my Macbook Pro's HDD onto the Mac Mini's 1tb SSHD, my Mac Mini will not be able to use the speed benefits of the SSD?
Another concern is, will I be able to use Yosemite or will I be stuck with 10.7.5 Lion? I would only like Yosemite. I do not mine if Lion is removed from my new Mac Mini.UPDATE:

I made more research on raid and now I am considering not to raid at all.
Raid0 seems extremely risky because I do not know how the SSD and SSHD would react together.
And Raid1 seems like it would not be able to function the way I would like to store my files. [The SSD is 256gb and SSHD is 1tb, there is no point in raid1]
I think I will just have to add the second drive and use it without raid. I will mostly save media files such as movies, pictures, and music. And for everything else, save it onto the SSD's storage. -

I suggest starting over. Boot into Recovery mode, wipe the HD, reinstall the OS, and, on first boot, use the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide to do the migration.'

Use your backup drive instead. No backup drive, then get a monitor and connect it to your computer. Or take the whole shebang to the Apple Store for help with the transfer. Or you can remove the drive from the old MBP and put it in an external enclosure.

Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: Be sure you have an active internet connection.
