How to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online?

Hi Guys,
Is it possible to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online directly? I heard we normally have to take 3 hops for this;
1. Project Server 2003 - Project Server 2007 migration.
2. Project Server 2007 - Project Server 2010 migration.
3. Finally, Project Server 2010 - Project Online migration.
Is there a migration tool we can use to simply jump from Project Server 2003 to Project Online?

NO, directly you can not migrate. You have to follow the sequence
1. Project Server 2003 to project server 2007
2. Project Server 2007 to project server 2010
3. Project Server 2010 to project server 2013 online.
Unfortunately we dont have nay tool which will help us to do this .
Microsoft has a virtual machine (2007) that you can use to jump to 2007. Basically the databases of 2003 must be converted to 2007. Once this is done (database at 2007) you can use this database as start point to be converted to 2010.
Microsoft has virtual machine for 2010 too if you want you can use it rather than creating your own environment.
Don't use 2007 backward compatibility mode in 2010, we experienced some issues with it.

I don't think you can do it without a shutdown. This also depends on the types of services, roles etc hosted on the server.

Migrate from Server 2003 (no Exchange, single server) to SBS 2011

Are there any Technets or other Microsoft documentation on migrating from Server 2003 (no Exchange, single server) to SBS 2011? I understand it is possible, but I would like confirmation and some documentation before purchasing the appropriate hardware
and licenses.

In general, the migration is the similar with migrating process from SBS 2003. In addition, also have main
difference.
“The main difference is that you don’t have to remove the source and that you have to follow the migration
instructions as the SBS migration wizard will not launch.”

Hi,
unfortunately I don't know of an easy supported way.
The process itself is pretty similar to migrating serverpools to Enterprise Manager as described in this note:
Migrating from Oracle VM Manager to Enterprise Manager Grid Control (Doc ID 807091.1)
With the exception that you simply register the new pool in a new manager and then have to rediscover all VMs.
So overall it is a simple "delete serverpool" and "create serverpool" with additional import of virtual machines.
If during this steps a problem arise, you still can deconfigure everything and reregister with the new manager (with the help of cleanup.py).

Hi,
It has been a while since I have had access to sun one studio 5. If I remember correctly, it was based on Netbeans 3.5.1. It turns out the Sun Java Studio Enterprise 7 release was based on Netbeans 3.6. Both of these Netbeans versions used mounted filesystems rather than the new project system. There is a migration guide from JSE 7 to JSE 8 available:

Hello Jose,
Open PS is the best option, If your external system is MSP. There is no standard LSMW prog available for uploading the Projects. Howvever there are certain BAPIs available
1.BAPI_PS_INITIALIZATION
2.BAPI_BUS2001_CREATE
3.BAPI_BUS2054_CREATE_MULTI
4.BAPI_BUS2001_SET_STATUS (To set the status at project level)
OR
BAPI_BUS2054_SET_STATUS (To set the status at WBS element level)
5.BAPI_PS_PRECOMMIT.
I guess you don't have to code again for this. Whatever structures and internal tables in BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN can be used to populate the above BAPIs.I have checked on BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN and this creates a Project definition too.
Good option is to create a custom program and load data using the BAPIu2019s.The program should perform couple of pre-validations and should have error handling capability as well.

How to migrate File server to NAS device?

All right so here's the scenario.
An external forest level trust is setup between two forests A & B as recently as we acquired the company B.
Users from forest B were already migrated to domain A.
Now I need to migrate file server from domain B to my domain A but the target where we need to move file shares is a NAS device, so basically we cannot do a simple server migration from domain B to domain A.
We need to copy over the data+ACL+Share permissions from fileserver in domain B to a NAS device in domain A whereas of course ACL permissions on file server present in domain B will obviously be as per source domain user accounts, example ACL permissions
currently will show as "B\user1".
So whats the best way to perform this in order to maintain the permissions & data.
Another question how do we copy share permissions from file server to NAS as I can robocopy the data with security permissions but how to copy over all the share permissions to destination NAS?

You need to retain the SID History attribute when users across domains to ensure users in the target domain can access to files during migration.

How to Migrate Win Server 2008 to Win Server 2012 if PDC server no longer exist?

With this being Foundation (less than 15 users) with some problems already, it might be smarter to just start the new server fresh.

I took over a small business company's network infratructure with Server 2008 Foundation and I would like to migrate to a new Windows Server 2012 r2.The Server 2008 Foundation is a DC with AD / DHCP / DNS / File & Print Server roles. I would like to transfer these roles to the new server with Win Server 2012 r2 std OS. My plan is to join the new server to the old DC, promote it as DC, and transfer roles to it, demote old server and power off.However, there was an older server (Windows 2003) which is no longer in the office and it was the current operations master. The server 2003 was the PDC. When I open AD Domains and Trusts I get this error:"You cannot modify domain or trust info because a PDC emulator cannot be contacted.."Maybe the FSMO roles wasn't transferred over from 2003 to 2008 properly? I don't know.How can I move forward to...

Migrating from Server 2003 to 2008

Hi,
Can anyone recommend an all in one solution as to how to migrate everything from one server running Windows Server 2003 to a brand new server running Windows Server 2008?
The 2003 server is the main file server, domain controller and has the active directory. It runs a domain of around 35 client PC's (Windows 7).
The new server simply has Windows Server 2008 installed. Basically I can't afford for any (or much) down time of the network. I want to be able to switch off the old server and have exactly the same capabilities on all network PC's as before.
So is there a way to - transfer all software, databases, data files and settings,
                                   transfer all network settings (domain settings, group
policies)
                                   transfer active directory
                                  anything else I need to consider?
I have asked my IT guys but I am less than convinced that they know the best process so I'm just looking for a bit of head start advice.

Migrating Windows Server 2003 File Cluster to Windows Server 2008 R2

Hello,
I have a very large Windows Server 2003 2 node file cluster that I would like to upgrade to Windows 2008 R2. I need to do this inplace (same server hardware) and I would like to use the existing storage if possible (I could buy more if it would make things
easier).
Is there a step by step guide that can tell me how to do this upgrade inplace or can anyone give me details on how to do this? I've looked at a few articles and they are not very descriptive on what to do.

What Microsoft calls an inplace upgrade is option 2 below
There are two basic migration/upgrade methods for a 2003 cluster to 2008
1) Build on new hardware, and move the disk/migrate the data.
2) Break cluster and remove one node, use that node to build a new one node cluster. Repeat by removing nodes and adding to new cluster.

How to install windows server 2003 on Sunfire x4150?

hi, i'm very new to Sun server.Sorry if i dont know anything about it. But now i have to install Windows Server 2003 on this Sunfire x4150 server. How can i do that? I've try to install but it give me error about the driver.
Some question:
1. Can i install both Sun Os (Solaris?) and Windows Server together? If cant, can i format the Solaris OS and install a fresh Windows?
2. OR actually i should install inside a Virtual Machine?

Might be a bit late for you, but if this helps anyone else, good.
I had the same issue with an X4600 lately. You need to download the Sun Installation Assistant cd and boot from it to install anything other than Solaris. This cd is similar to the ones that Compaq andDell sendout with their servers. It will do a semi automatic install after you give it the information about the os, set up disks, etc.
Easy to do, search the sun support site for the SIA image particular to your hardware.

Iam using Oracle Heterogenous Services to migrate the data,Using Merge statement and database link.

ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected BLOB got LONG BINARY

Can't access some clien'ts features after migration Windows Server 2003 - 2008R2

Hi,
I have done migration of the domain controller from Windows Server 2003 to 2008R2. The old domain controller is set as a relay. After that, I have problems with the clients.
Now with the 2008R2, it is impossible to:
-Explore targeted computer's disks.
-All RPC features.
-The deployment by GPO is also impossible (Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070015 The device is not ready).
All of these features works well on the relay. I also can't shutdown a computer from a pc logged as Administrator.
I've got the problem on the 3 sites I've migrate.

Found by self.
Create new repo using rcu (Different prefix DEV1). Installed OBIEE on B server.
And archive all model folder including answers, dashboard, report than unarchive to B Server.
