How to migrate to a new server

Hi,
I need to migrate to a new server, there is a guide where to find the correct procedure to perform this procedure? Thx

You have to install the database server first on the new machine.
Now take the backup of the database from old connect server
Restore it into the new database server.
Now install connect on the new server
Once the setup is finished and the connect is up and running.
Replace the content folder on this new server with the content folder from old connect server.
This should take care of this.
This is the answer I got from Adobe. I did and successfully migrate my server but once the setup was finished on my new server I replace the content folder before restart the services... Everything went well.

Can you upgrade from 1.3.0.20 small ovf to 2.1 without migrating to a new server? It sounds like you can just adjust the server settings now. I am currently running 1.3.0.20 and I have enough to do with also needing to upgrade my wlc to 7.4.121.0 and getting the MSE up to 7.4.121.0 without having to stand up a new server if I don't have to. Please share any information you have in regards to your experience with coming from a version 1.2-1.3 small ovf and going to 2.1.
    Thanks,

You are better off standing up a new server.  It's cleaner and safer..... you can always try to upgrade if you wish, but if things don't work out well, then you just wasted a lot of time.  Snapshot the VM and export the floor plans, just in case.  The ova is built around the DB size, so I don't know how well the DB will perform if you try to expand memory or drive space after an upgrade.

  • How to migrate Sun One directory server to a new physical server install

    need help
We have to move our existing installation of sun on directory server 5.2 to a new physical server.
We have a new physical server with a new host name. I am trying to find an easiest way to take a snapshot of our existing server and put it on a new installation
So will installing sun one directory server , its shows me two choices either to create a new instance or copy configuration from a existing server
What do i choose and which is the fastest route to replicate my old server
    Thanks a bunch in advance
    Sganb

    Hi,
I'm glad you're still using the old, glorious Sun One Directory Server 5.2, because it brings me back a lot of memories... But are you seriously talking of the 'plain' version, with no patches/hot fixes on top? If that's the case, you're using of a software that has been developed in 2004 and released in Jan 2005! Just for you to be aware, in the last *8* (eight) years a considerable number (in the magnitude of 10^3) of bugs, security problems and performance issues has been identified and fixed...
However, to provide a better answer to your question, it would be important to understand the 'big picture' in terms of scenario and requirements:
    1) Is this a critical 24x7 service for which you need to perform an on-line migration or you have a 'maintenance window' during which the service may be switched off?
    2) Is the old server member of replication environment? If yes, how many masters/slaves do you have already? Shall the new server be part of this topology? What role shall it have?
    3) Would it be possible to make the the old server able to communicate with the new server?
    4) How big is the database that you've got to migrate? Do you have any requirement in terms of caches?
    5) Do you take backups on a regularly basis and have in place working (*tested*) backup/restore procedures?
    6) Is the new server conserving or changing the O.S. and architecture? [SPARC->SPARC, x86->x86, SPARC->x86, Solaris -> ? , 32 .vs. 64-bit? ]
    7) What are the steps you did to 'install' the software on the new server?
    Thanks,
    Marco
P.S.: I don't wanna sound 'scaring' with all these questions, neither this should be intended as an 'hidden advertising' for Oracle Professional/Consulting Services, but the only way to not put in jeopardy your data is being aware of the risks, having the control of what's going on and ... possibly have a 'B' plan ;-)
P.S.S.: My last suggestion is to consider a migration to a later release AS SOON AS POSSIBLE; the latest is ODSEE 11.1.1.7, which is available here:

  • How to migrate mail to mac server

I am currently running a FreeBSD Server with postfix and dovecot as our mail server. Today our new Mac Mini server arrives and I will be configuring that to run mail, calendars and authentication services.
I am familiar with setting up the MX records so new mail will goto the new mail server first, then the old mail server if the new isnt available and setting up postfix to hold and forward the mail when te new server comes back up.
What I do not know how to do is migrate everyon's old mail in dovecot over to the new mail server so they can access it.
If anyone has some experiance with this I would greatly appriciate it.

Information on migrations to Dovecot from various other mail servers.
That document includes commands for imapsync and larch, among other options.
(If you're stuck for access, you could always slam the passwords, migrate the mail, and then re-issue the credentials.  Massively ugly, but possible.)

    Hello,
without administrative access you can not migrate anything. So find the administrator that is responsible for the server and talk to him first.

  • How to migrate to a new 4TB disk (switching from MBR to UEFI)

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1167c running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.
My 1TB drive ran out of space, so I want to migrate to a new 4TB drive.  However, the current drive is a MBR drive and I understand that I need to use UEFI to be able to utilize the full 4TB (ie I am limited to using 2TB of the 4TB if the 4TB drive is formatted as an MBR drive).
In the past when migrating to a new drive, I just cloned the drive.  Can I still do this, even though they are formatted differently?  I'm not sure if a cloning process would clone data from a MBR disk to a UEFI disk while keeping the disk formatting, or if a clone requires that the source and target disks be the same formatting.
If I can clone a drive from a MBR disk to a UEFI disk, how would I get my PC to boot using the new disk?  Do I maybe need to change something in the BIOS to cause the PC to support UEFI?
If I can't clone the drive due to needing to go from MBR to UEFI, what should I do?  Is the only option to do a build from scratch (ie reinstall the OS from scratch with the UEFI disk installed, then re-install all the apps, and then re-load my data from a backup)?  I'm hoping to avoid this, due to the obvious large amount of effort that would take.
Thanks in advance for any guidance as to how how I might migrate my system to this new drive, while being able to utilize the full 4TB of space.
    Thanks!

    Hi Steve,
Another point of clarification.  You should be able to use a 4 TB hard drive for data.  To use it as a replacement boot drive would required some special efforts using retail media and provided that the boot sources will support UEFI boot devices.  If you boot up W8 installation media in UEFI mode then you could try installing W8 to the GPT formatted hard drive.  I haven't tried this on your particular model so I can't say for sure that it will work.

  • How to Migrate windows 2008r2 RDS server to Windows server 2012r2 RDS

Hi, I want to migrate our 2008r2 RD server + Cals to windows server 2012r2 server, the user will still connect to 2008r2 server but the server hosting the license will be migrated to a 2012r2 server. Currently I have 2 servers that users can connect
to that are served by the 2008r2 RDS (the server I'm converting is just hosting the license) the server user connect to point to this license server. How do I proceed to migrate, I'm searching for documentation but I can't find much, I found that I can only
convert to 2012r2 from 2012 or better OS, so I installing a temporary 2012 server to do a double migration seem to be the best course of action but I can't find any documentation on how to Migrate the Remote Desktop Services Role Services from 2008r2 to Windows
    Server 2012.
Also I just discovered that this server is also hosting license for windows server 2003 terminal service. Will I be able to host these licences on 2012R2 ?
    Any pointer would be appreciated.

    Hi,
It seems like migration the Remote Desktop Services Role Services from 2008r2 to Windows Server 2012 is not supported.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn479239.aspx
So i think you may install and configure the RDS server on Windows Server 2012 and then migration to Windows Server 2012r2.
    Hope this helps.

  • Migrating to CF8 & new server

    Hello,
I'm upgrading from a CF7 Standard license to CF8 Standard AND
moving to a new 2003 server. Do I need to put CF7 on the new server
and then upgrade or is there a way I can just put a clean copy of
    CF8 on the new server?
    Thanks,
    CLM

Yes, you will just need the CF7 license key. During or after
    you
install CF8 you will enter the CF8 license key. It should
    then say
something to the effect "This is an upgrade license. Please
    enter
original license key". Then enter your CF7 license key and
    you are good
    to go.
At least that is how it worked for us.

  • Help migrating to a new server and keeping Aliases intact

Our old G4 server running Tiger Server is experiencing some "odd" hick-ups, so we decided to get a brand new server running 10.5 Server.
When we copy an entire share all internal aliases "just work" (Yay Apple).
Where it gets tricky is we sometimes have links between shares. For instance all sales related materials are kept on a secure volume, where project files are on a public volume. We sometimes have links on the public volume to the secure volume (for instance possibly linking to a client's original feature list from their RFP, which could rightfully be filed in either place).
As we have started migrating over data one thing we realized was that because we are creating new shares these "cross volume" aliases are getting lost.
Ideally I'd love to have a way to hunt down all "orphan" aliases and basically say "hey if you pointed to a certain path on the old secure volume, now go to that path on the new secure volume. Has anyone done this?
At the very least, I'd love a way to find any "orphan" aliases, so I can manually update them....
    Thanks,

In a scenario such as you describe one wouldn't bother with manually organizing data. You hit the red button on your data management/ backup software and let it work out the details. Generally one would also use RAID 5 for critical file servers since even while it's running specific single files may need to be restored on the fly if a write operation fails. This also eleiminates the need to run a "full backup" server since it will be extremely unlikely that the server will suffer a catastrophic failure and you lose all data. If that's not an option, a RAID 01 seems more appropriate for your situation than a RAID 10 since you deal with large files and would ned to maintain their integrity at least within one of the stripe sets or else your backup plan falls apart.

  • Migrate db to new server

there is requirment to migrate 9206 db to new server, db size is 85gb, dont have any rman backup, it uses user-managed backup which goes to tape.
i am planning to take its one rman backup on disk (fs) , move this to new server , create new instance on the new server and restore this there.
These are the steps i have in mind make me right if i am not.
    1-take rman backup like this
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '/db01/df_%t_%s_%p';
    backup database;
2-move these backup pieces on new server on /db01 fs
3- create & start new instance , and set up there rman configuration like above and run restore db.

if your business allows downtime, then go on with cold backup.
Like copy all your database files (redo, control, datafiles, tempfile) to new host. if the directory structure is the same then it will be very easy, otherwise, you may have to edit initialization params, at mount stage you may have to run alter database rename file 'XXXX' to 'YYYY'.

  • Migrate licenses to new server no agreement #

I inherited a win2008r2 RDS licensing server that has win2003 cals & win2008 cals installed.
It used to be a citrix cal server as well, but the citrix util has been removed.
We replaced the citrix servers w/rds servers running win2008r2, however the new servers cannot connect to the licensing server…..the licensing server seems to be the problem so I am trying to replace it and migrate only the win2008 cals to the new licensing
    server.
The problem is that no one who used to manage the licensing server has any clue how the win2008 cals were added to the original licensing server and thus they have no paperwork, agreement #, or anything.
How can I migrate just the win2008 cals to the new licensing server, given that I have no agreement #?
    Thanks

  • How to migrate the portal from server A to Server B

    Dear Expert,
I have existing R3 name A and portal connecting. I have setup a new R3 name B on different server. Could you please provide me the steps on how can I migrate the portal connection from Server A to Server B. What are the steps involve .e.g. ITS and etc.
    Thank you
    KS

    Hi,
The communication between portal server and R3 server happens via system only. If you don't want to use R3 system A hereafter, then look for R3 system alias created for 'A' in portal. You can delete that. Now for using new R3 system B in portal, create a new system for B in portal using System Administration. Decide which SSO you are going to use. If user is same in portal and r3, then logon tickets. Else user mapping method.
Check these documents on how these can be done.

  • How to migrate from SAP content server to OPENTEXT?

We have been using SAP content server as our storage for archived data for years.
Now we plan to start using OPENTEXT to admin our archived data.
How can we use OPENTEXT together with existing SAP content server?
My idea is to treat content server as any other media as as DVD, WORM, etc.
However, I do not see that OPENTEXT can be configured to admin content server .
If so, how to transfer whatever on the content server to IXOS?

    hi,
    Please refere SNote 1043676.
Also, need to understand the following,
How to move an entire content repository from one content server to another
Sometimes you may need to move a content repository - but not necessarily all the content repositories from one content server to another. This can be done without much drama. Here is a means that I've used in the past:
Use report RSCMSEX to export the repository from the source content server.
Create a repository of the same name on the target content server.
Use Report RSCMSIM to import the repository into the target content server.
Delete the repository from the source content server (if desired!).
The SAP progrm sapkprotp controls the import and export. The ABAP reports allow you to specify the RFC destinations where sapkrpotp runs.
    For lager repositories
The programs  listed above cannot deal with the whole content repository at the same time. For a slower migration, try using the program RSIRPIRL. This approach allows you to do the migation on a live system.
Create the new content repository on your new content server.
    Create the new content category.
If using distribution, distribute the new documents to the new category. otherwise change redirected category for DMS_C1_ST
    Relocate using the program.

  • How to "migrate" a 10.5 Server-System from a G4 to a G5?

    Hi all,
I tried to bring an existing Leopard-Server System from a G4 MDD 1.25GHz to a

Does anyone know how i could move the hole existing System without wasting
    lots of time?
    thanks for any help!
    Milchfisch

I can't think of why there would be any problem moving an image over since they are both powerPC. Since the time machine restore didn't work how about putting the G5 in target disk mode and using something like carbon copy cloner to image the g5s hard drive.
