How to minimize itunes to system tray

In previous versions of iTunes, you were able to minimize itunes into the system tray rather than to the windows taskbar.  I have not been able to get this to happen again in the past couple of versions of iTunes.  Could you give me a breakdown on what or how to do it?  I am running windows 8.1.

Do you mean the part of the taskbar immediately to the right of the Start button (with the little icons for programs)?
If so:
1. Right click on the taskbar. A menu will pop up. If there is a checkmark next to "Lock the Taskbar," then uncheck it (so it is unlocked, so you can make changes).
2. Press (and hold) the Control key, while you click and drag the iTunes icon that is on your desktop to the taskbar.
3. Re-lock your taskbar.

    Use JNI.

  • How to minimize itunes to taskbar?

    I don't remember what I did that turned off that feature (or something went terrible wrong). I've just updated to the newest version of itunes, and I was wondering how to setup itunes to minimize to the taskbar. (No, I don't want to minimize it to system tray or the mini player)
    Thank you!

  • Minimize GW to system tray

    Hi everybody...
    I just want to know if it is possible to minimize the GW client to the system tray instead of having it open in the taskbar?
    Sorry if this is a repeated subject but i think not because i've searched before posting it...I have also looked in the GW options and i haven't found nothing!
    Hope you can help me, but if not, thanks anyway!

    The best method from what I can tell is to run Notify and have it in your tray. from there you can gain access to the client if needed. After you are done using the client, you can close it and Notify will remain in the tray monitoring your email.
    That is how I have my system setup and so far it seems to work pretty well.
    hope that helps.

    no it isn't. sually people simply leave Notify in the tray and right
    click on that.
    The system tray isn't really where running apps are supposed to go. True
    I know of apps that violate this, but the tray is normally for
    notification/status stuff only.

  • Minimize DM6 to system tray

    Earlier versions of the desktop manager allowed you to minimize it to the system tray, but I don't see this setting in DM6.  Does anyone know how to do this?

    I found a way to Minimize BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6 to the Windows System Tray.
    I purchased a new BlackBerry Torch 9800 and a new feature appeard on the Desktop Manager called "Wi-Fi Music Sync".  Wi-Fi Music Sync will allow you to sync music between your BlackBerry and Desktop computer via a wireless network.
    Activating the Wi-Fi Music Sync will allow you to minimize BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6 to the Windows System Tray.
    I realize that this is not a solution for all but it appears that BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6 was designed to work with the new features of OS 6.
    Just wanted to let you all know that it is possible to minimize BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6 to the Windows System Tray.

  • Minimize licq to system tray

    i know for shure that you can minimze licq to the system tray without having a taskbarentry - but i can't figure out how !?!

    licq compiled without --with-kde
    But it can be minimized, though.
    I don't know exact english option names, but try
    Licq -> settings -> (in bottom right corner) icons -> set first check (use icons) and last radio (small icons) buttons
    Also, you can download PKGBUILD for "licq-be" package or try this PKGBUILD:
    ########################3
    pkgname=licq-kde-gui
    pkgver=1.3.4
    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="KDE user interface plugin for Licq"
    arch=(i686)
    url="http://www.licq.org"
    depends=('licq')
    source=(http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/licq/licq-$pkgver.tar.bz2)
    md5sums=('3bab0c9d1977f9b14421d36110e17e0c')
    build() {
      cd $startdir/src/licq-$pkgver
      # KDE-gui is a variant of Qt-gui
      cd plugins/qt-gui
      ./configure --prefix=/usr --with-kde
      make || return 1
      cd po
      lrelease *.ts || return 1
      cd -
      make DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg install
      find $startdir/pkg -name "*.la" -exec rm -f {} ;
      rm -rf $startdir/pkg/usr/share
    then do "makepkg" and install package
    then exit from licq and edit ~/.licq/licq.conf - replace "qt-gui" on "kde-gui" (you cannot just change it from licq gui because you need to unload this gui first)

    I would like  to be able to move Icons to my system tray.

    Click on Control Panel and then click Notification Area Icons.  It will give you the list of available programs and behaviors to configure.  If the program that you wish to be displayed is not displayed you can check the settings of that program to see if the option is available.  If it is not you can drag any file or program to the taskbar and it will create the shortcut there for easy access.

  • ITunes in System Tray

    Hello,
    I recently did a Reformat on my computer. I reinstalled everything correctly, even iTunes. Before the reformat iTunes, when minimized, was in a little mini player to the right of the clock. Now it is not showing up. I have right click on the taskbar/tray and made it so that iTunes and WMP both show up there when minimized. WMP shows up, but iTunes does not.
    Anybody know what is going on??
    HELP!

    how in the world would i do that? it comes standard on the hard drive and i don't want to reset it to factory settings (although it does have that). I have tried system restore (it takes you back to a previous point when things worked correctly) but it keeps saying it can't go back because nothing is different. arrgh. frustrating. can i put on windows xp again without resetting everything? and how so? ty

  • Itunes disappears when minimized to system tray

    i have itunes set to minimize to the system tray, but when i do, it doesn't go to the tray, it just disappears
    my music is still playing but itunes just isn't there
    if i open task manager, it isn't in the applications tab, but it is in the processes tab as itunes.exe
    the only way to bring it back is to click "new task" in task manager and type itunes.exe, but i don't want to do this everytime i want to change songs or something
    anybody experienced similar?

    Yes. In itunes, edit/preferences/advanced. Check the boxes "show itunes in system tray" and "minimize itunes window to system tray".
    Then, drag the itunes shortcut to the startup folder in the start menu. Right click the new shortcut in the startup folder and select properties, then the shortcut tab. In the "run" drop list select "minimized". Itunes will open when your computer starts and minimize to the system tray.

  • Auto starting iTunes - minimized to system tray.

    Is there a way to have iTunes startup in the system tray? I have a business process using Video iPods where my clients have asked about this capability. There are a number of 'internal' podcasts that our sales force subscribes to and having iTunes start in the system tray allows this process to work background rather than 'in your face'.
    <I've tried putting it in the startup group minimized, but it has no effect>.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Adobe Reader minimizes to system tray when printing as an attachment in Outlook

    I have a user that is running Adobe Reader v10.1.2, and MS Outlook v12.0.6668.5000 (2007).  Every time that she opens a PDF attachment in email and prints it, it minimizes to the system tray.  if she saves it to the desktop and prints, it doesn't minimize.
    I have deleted everything in her OLK folders, tried printing while in Cached Exchange Mode, and with it turned off.  the problem persists.
    Please advise.  Thanks.

    Thank you for replying.
    What is happening is the user receives a PDF attachment in an Outlook email.  She opens the PDF to view (default program for opening PDFs on her computer is Adobe Reader), then clicks the print button in Adobe.  The document prints, but it immediately minimizes to her taskbar and remains minimized unless she clicks on the icon to maximize it again.  if the same PDF is saved to her desktop, opened, and printed, it does not minimize.  We can create this issue at any time on her machine.
    I have focused on Outlook since it appears to only happen from this program.  i have deleted temporary files from her OLK folders, tested with Cached Exchange Mode turned off, and ran MS Office Diagnostics (no errors).  I am uncertain where to troubleshoot next, short of deleting her profile on the computer and letting it rebuild.
