How to minimize picture to a certain amount of color shades?

I am working on a piece of pixelated artwork. Each pixel is a certain shade of grey. I need to be able to minimize the shade count to about 5. So, every pixel that is light grey will be all the same shade and so on. Get it? Any thoughts on how to do this? I would be able to use both Illustrator and Photoshop with this.

You can either try an Posterize Adjustment Layer, but this will probably not provide good results.
Another option is to change Image – Mode to Indexed Color, choose Custom Palette, set Colors to 6 and edit those. (see screenshot)
Dither None might be a better fit though.

Most pages have layouts for pictures only or pictures with text boxes. Either select the same layout for that page but the one without the text box or put a space in the text box.
Putting a space in the text box will avoid getting the warning when ordering that there's an unfilled text box in the book. The box will not be visible in the final product. You can and should check the book before ordering by previewing it as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it

Iphoto Stream does not take in concideration the time zone. How to add a certain amount of hours on a Stream automaticly downloaded into Iphoto?

I am just back from my holidays with few friends... We were in a Time Zone +6. I have created a Photo stream for everyone to share their photo on the same place. It worked. Back @ my place, I downloaded those photos localy on my laptop to be able to close the Stream. Those picts has the perfect time. In the same time I got all my picts that are automaticly streamed into Iphoto as well ... Here is my problem : I want to had the Picture that I have not streamed into the commun stream to my local event (from my own automatic stream) ... Those have been uploaded with my laptop local time !!! So I have 6 hours difference ! ...
Is there a way to add 6 hours to all my pictures or should I import manualy my pictures from my phone to Iphoto ? (Picts are Ok into my phone).
It is kind of an hugly bug: I think that this streaming option is actully really useful when you are in holidays ... so kind of often in an other time zone !

You e missing somthing - the adjust time and date command is specfially designed to corect tim fo camera mis-settings or time zone - you selec a roup of photo off by a certain amount and it adds the same delta to all thereby quickly an dsimply correcing user camera setting errors or user time zone errors
It does exactly what you ask for - the batch change command does not work for this by=ut the adjust time command does

Does the computer lock me after a certain amount of failed password attmepts, even when i finally have the correct password? recently changed root account password, but then forgot today and when tried again didn't work. if so, how long does lock last?

Ok. So I just changed my ADMINISTRATIVE ROOT PASSWORD the other day and when I tried to log in today I forgot it. I tried different variations of
the password I had set, because I wasn't sure if i had maybe set it in Caps Lock or used a different number in the sequence. I got the message several times
about "too many attempts, try again later". Does the computer lock me from signing in even with the correct password after a certain amount of failed
attempts? If so, how long does this lock last for? When can I try again? Or is there something I need to do to remove that lock now? I'm pretty sure I
had the right password finally but it still wouldn't accept it.
Also, I don't have any other administrative users set up on my macbook pro. I'm the only one who uses it, so I've always just used that original User from my
original setup.

Do this:
1. Reboot
2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime. (command + s on newer Macs)
3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
(Type these commands very carefully)
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can change the passord on the old one.

After upgrading to Lion, I have noticed that video content freezes (though the voice is heard, but the picture is frozen for some seconds) for a certain amount of
time when its starts playing (eg youtube videos) on Lion.
I have observed this on my friends macbook pro also.

How do you picture a Mentor?

Dear SCNer,
I would like to hear your opinion about the SAP Mentors program. I would like to know what are your expectations - to learn if you think the Mentors meet your expectations and if not, what could we do to improve it and much more (well, we will most probably will not be able to change the mentors, but can improve the ways how people think about the Mentors and their purpose).
I had my own expectations during the months here on SCN and now I know how out of truth they were. Took me weeks and months, thread, blogs, emails and comments to understand how it works, what is the purpose (and how it differs from my initial picture). Now I wonder if the picture how people (fellow SCNers) think about the Mentors and how the Mentors think about themselves match together.

Well, Otto - seems the thread has gotten a bit long, so why should I be shy about adding to the length? Length seems to be quite common with yours since many times you pose u201Chuman interaction or interest topicsu201D. I am quite a lurker because I like to hold off before entering comments to see where a discussion is leading and how sustained it is before jumping in and providing another cut on the topic. The other alternative is the Save As Other>Reduce File Size. The PDF Optimizer gives you more control. You might also use the audit feature in the PDF Optimizer to see where the size problem is coming from. You might find that in the WORD file you can select and image and then go to the FORMAT (pictures) menu and select compress for all of the bitmaps in the file. That will typically use 150 dpi by default that is adequate for most needs.

How to minimize window into the system tray icon

I tried to fin how to minimize the application main window into the right down corner (system tray bar) only as an icon cause I don't want to have it on main bar.

I've already done that, some years ago.
Sorry, but I cannot give you the code, cause it has vanished after a few (!!!) system re-installations ;)
But this was the main idea:
- make a jni-dll
- inside the dll, get the handle to the window you want to minimize
- alter that window's properties
It's rather easy, once you've avoided all pitfalls. I'll suggest http://www.codeproject.com , they've certainly some tutorials on minimizing to the system tray.

Click event on a label doesn't work after a certain amount of time?

I'm having a weird kinda a problem with my label.....I had given a click event on the label but the problem here is that...it won't take any event after a certain amount of time....i mean..it takes the event if you click on it when it is loaded but after sometime it won't take any event...
And there's one more thing which is that...i've some images too on the page but the images doesn't show up until and unless my mouse gains focus on the page...i.e I've to move my mouse over the page once then only i'm able to see the image...
Any help on how to solve this problem.....

Continuous averaging for a certain amount of time

In my program I have to use a start button to continuously average a value for a certain amount of time(lets say 3s) and keep and show the average the value. The state of the start button should return to off mode after that 3 sec so if the user hit the start button again it reset the array and calculate the average again.
Would you please help me with this program. I have attached pic of what I ahev done
With this vi I can take data after hitting start for 3 sec but I have these problems:
1- I don't know how to calculate average value when finish getting data after 3 sec
2- I would like the start button back to off mode after 3 sec so if I click on the start button again it reset the array and calculate the average again.
Would u plz help me with this vi?

Use mean function to average an array. And wire your time has elapsed boolean to a case structure and reinitialise your boolean control to default in the true case.
