How to mirror display...

I need to mirror my display.  In other words, I need everything to be backwards, but still right-side-up.  I found the "rotate" option, but this is no good, becuase I need to flip the display horizontally, not merely rotate it.  This is for a teleprompter which uses a mirror, so everything must be backwards to appear correct.

Here's a $15 app in the App store that does it.

  • Mirrored Display. How to sleep MBP display without closing LID to keep the machine vented?

I just got my hands on a 15" MBP and I currently have a third party Display that I have connected to my Display output port. Mirrored display, and tried the clamshell mode but machine got quite hot by running in it that way. I was wondering if there is any way to keep the lid open while the mirrored mode on the external Display still runs?
Also, if there are any third party software that does give me flexibility as to which display to sleep and such, and at least have control over the display output options, that would be a gem. Appreciate it if anyone has that info?
Thanks a lot for taking time to help! Happy holiday and a great year to come for all!

    Captfred,
I've tried what the article suggests but it only seems to work if you want to wake the computer when it is sleeping or the screen saver is on.
What I am trying to find out is how to start the computer when it is turned off without having to open it. I would imagine that there would be some key combination on the keyboard or perhaps a way to program the on/off button on the side of the Apple external display to do that.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How do I set the default external monitor setting to NOT mirror displays?

Greetings folks. I take my Lion macbook all over the place, and frequently plug into projectors to present. I NEVER mirror my display, and always use the projector and on-screen displays as separate displays, yet when you plug in a new projector to the MacBook Air (or MBP) it always defaults to "Mirror Displays" in the arrangement tab. Is there a way to change that to NEVER default to mirror displays?

I've tried that, and then created my installer, but it defaults back to having auto update checked, or in the ON position. I want it to default to being OFF so any new installs or upgrades that I send out do not turn it back on.
We manage all computers here, and do not want users doing any updates.

  • How to check Mirror Displays checkbox

    I have the following:
    tell application "System Preferences"
    activate
set current pane to pane "Displays"
    tell application "System Events"
    try
    tell application process "System Preferences"
click radio button "Arrangement" of tab group 1 of window "Cinema HD"
    tell window "Cinema HD"
click checkbox "Mirror Displays" of tab group 1 of window "Cinema HD"
    end tell
    end tell
    end try
    end tell
    end tell
The only thing that doesn't work is the checkbox line. I've also tried it as checkbox 1, BTW.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, Pierre--
    No, I used UI Browser.
However, I think I may have found the issue, although not the solution. Remember that mirroring is available only when you have 2 monitors, which I do. But that means the Displays open 2 windows, in my case, one named "Cinema HD", the other "Samsung". They both have the "Mirror Displays" checkbox.
    I tried doing:
click radio button "Arrangement" of tab group 1 of window "Cinema HD"
    tell window "Samsung"
click checkbox "Mirror Displays" of tab group 1
    end tell
    tell window "Cinema HD"
click checkbox "Mirror Displays" of tab group 1
    end tell
    end tell
    But that again, doesn't work.

When I try to link my Macbook to my TV, I cannot find the "Arrangement" button that would lead me to "Mirror Display". Please help!

The Arrangement tab only appears in System Preferences Displays pane if a second display is recognized by the system (the OS).  So it seems like your MacBook is not seeing the TV as being connected.

  • How to mirror to tv monitor using macbook pro 2012

how to mirror to tv monitor using macbook pro 2012.  The airplay is not displayed anywhere except I Tunes which only plays what is on I Tunes.

    Howdy there nell a-7,
It sounds like you are not seeing the Airplay icon in the menu bar on your Mac but you do see it in iTunes. I would use these steps from the following article to help troubleshoot the issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4215
    Try these steps first
Verify that your iOS device's software is up to date.
Verify your Apple TV's software is up to date.
Verify that your iOS device has Wi-Fi turned on. Enable Wi-Fi on your iOS device by going to Settings > Wi-Fi.
All AirPlay-enabled devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Some Wi-Fi network configurations offer a Guest Network. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General >Network and ensure that you're connecting to the same Wi-Fi network on your iOS device. On your iOS device, tap Setting > Wi-Fi and confirm that this matches your Apple TV.
If the AirPlay icon doesn't appear
Ensure that you have followed the steps in using AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring. If you are still unable to see the AirPlay icon  , try one of the following steps:
If trying to AirPlay, or AirPlay mirror, to your Apple TV, ensure that AirPlay is enabled on your Apple TV as well. You can enable or disable AirPlay on Apple TV in the AirPlay menu: Settings > AirPlay.
Check Internet or network connectivity on all affected devices.
Some content requires an Internet connection to authorize content playback. AirPlay capabilities may be limited if your network is not connected to the Internet.
If attempting to use AirPlay from a third-party app or a website from your Safari app on your iOS device, confirm that the app or website is AirPlay compatible (refer to the developers of the app or website for additional information).
Here is some additional information about Airplay for Mac:

  • How to mirror my components ?

I made a swing UI application with buttons, label etc... I d like to know how to mirror the displaying of all this components so as to support mutli-language (arabic for example).
To sum up, I want the buttons that are on the left to go on the right as if there was a mirror.
I know something already exits in swing to do this automatically but i do not know how.
    tx.

    applyComponentOrientation(java.awt.ComponentOrientation.RIGHT_TO_LEFT);
But you already knew that. ;)

  • How to mirror and setup independantly

I want to use the two displays in the following ways.
    1. Use the display with macbook in clamshell mode, then when open mb to have the mb mirror the display with both displays at their native res. Currently res gets messed up and can't see whole screen on the mb.
    2. Use the display with macbook in open mode with screens working independantly ie so i can use safari on one display and word on another at the same time.
If this possible and if so how?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Jon.

That's helpful thanks. So my understanding of the options is as follows:
    1) With mirroring on. Mirrors displays however not at default resolution for macbook display which makes it difficult to use. You can you both displays but actions are mirrored on both. Not very useful.
    2) Extended diplay with separate setting for each display that allows you to set each at their default res. I can then set the master screen by dragging the menu bar in the display settings > arrangement tab. This allows you to open applications and separate application windows that can then be dragged to the secondary display. It is not possible however to have the menu bar on both screens.
Is that correct or are there any other setups possible?

  • Need mirrored display for harddrive erase

I am trying to erase my hard drive in order to get rid of it.  My laptop screen is broken (parts are blacked out and entire screen goes black).  I have it hooked to an external monitor with that monitot being the default and the mirrored display option checked.  However, when I put in the installation disk and hit c to start the erasing process, only the Macbook monitor works.  This doesn't help me because I cannot see the options.  Any advice on how to keep the external monitor on mirrored display?   It seems to jump to extended because I can see a background but nothing else.  When I do a hard shut down and turn back on, the mirrored option is back working.  I am stumped.

In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the monitor and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
The monitor will now have the Dock and Menu Bar and windows will open on it.

  • How many external displays dose the Retina MBP suport?

How many external displays dose the Retina MBP support? I have herd conflicting information about this, an apple store employee told me that it could support 2 thunderbolt displays while simultaneously running a HDMI connected display (witch would be awesome if true) but I am extremely skeptical, that seems like to much for one GPU.

    Graphics and Video support:
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switching
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, at millions of colors
    Thunderbolt digital video output
    Native Mini DisplayPort output
DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (sold separately)
VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)
Dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)

  • When I uncheck "mirror displays" my laptop color changes badly

I have a new Vizio external monitor connected via HDMI and thunderbolt adapter to my Macbook Pro (2013) (10.9.5). In System Preferences, when I am mirroring displays all is well. But when I uncheck "Mirror Displays", the color on my laptop drastically changes. All of a sudden it's heavily orange and blue, although the color on my monitor is unchanged either way. Thoughts?
