How to mix reason through logic, then stereo back to reason mastering?

Is it possible to mix a track from reason through logics mixer (yes I know how to do this ok) but then send the master from logic back to reason so that I can master it in reasons mastering kit - I really prefer their mastering setup for some types of music the sound is just what I want (not for others) especially dance - but I can't find a way to do this? Do I have to print the logic mix into a sample and load it into a new reasons project? I'd rather hear the mix with mastering applied as well if possible.

Yeah i feel you, the sound is very characteristic and well-suited for electronic productions, I agree. Although technically, it doesn't compare to what you can achieve with Waves or even standard Logic mastering plugins, the sound can be very nice.
At the same time, Reason wouldn't be Reason anymore if it had audio input support That's what Logic is for

    Hi
    What I'm saying is:
Make a new MONO audio track (use the + button). Assign it to input 1
Make a second new MONO track, assign it to input 2
Name both tracks, record-enable both tracks, and record.
You could, of course, make both tracks in one go via the new track dialog box, and hav ethem automatically assigned to ascending inputs.

  • Has anyone figured out how to make the Yamaha 01V96i mixer work with Logic 9.1.8

Has anyone figured out how to make the Yamaha 01V96i mixer work with Logic 9.1.8 as a control surface ?

    In YAMAHA01v96i:
Go to DIO/SETUP select Generic DAW. Go to MIDI settings page and set the desired port (personally I use Number 1), Select the same audio frequency you use in your DAW (I use 44.1KhZ)...at this point You should save a scene in you 01V96i to avoid to repeat all the procedure again.
Open studio manager, go to patch and set the input port from 17 to 32 respectively to USB1-USB16 (this will give you the return from you DAW to the 01v96i
Save again the scene overwriting the old one.
    in LOGIC
Click on preferences, select Audio then select 01v96i, then click on control surface and select Mackie design Baby HUI and in the midi session set the same port that you've been setting on the Yamaha 01V96i (Port 1 if you follow this example).
    That's more or less it.
    It worked for me...so far

    Keith,

The you talk of Reason opened as a plugin.... do you mean in Rewire mode?
As a first step I'd try to reinstall Reason 3.0 with updates.

  • Wanting to connect an older G4 Powerbook running OS 10.4.11 to a Marantz SR4023 receiver amplifier with only RCA inputs to play iTunes through it on stereo speakers. Can anyone advise how to do this?

Wanting to connect an older G4 Powerbook running OS 10.4.11 to a Marantz SR4023 receiver amplifier with only RCA inputs to play iTunes through it on stereo speakers. Can anyone advise how to do this? Not tech savvy at all here, and will be happy with a simple hard wired connection.  The Powerbook is old, and I no longer want to use it for anything but connecting iTunes radio, and my iTunes library to my stereo system.

    Hi,
There were many PowerBook G4 models (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3065) with different ports (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2369).
If necessary, a manual can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#PowerBook%20G4
Generally speaking, the output of a headphone port can often be used for the connection to an amplifier. You would need an appropriate cable (typically, 3.5 mm stereo plug to two RCA plugs). Choose a suitable amplifier input (high level). Do verify the allowed amplifier input voltage levels and the impedance before you connect.

  • How to improve iTunes sound quaility through analog home stereo?

The core of my home stereo system is an old NAD 7140 stereo receiver and I really like the sound. I have set up a dedicated laptop (a bottom-end Lenovo Ideapad) that I just keep next to the stereo and use it as a storage device/glorified mp3 player. I keep all my "second tier" music there -- the music where I can live without a physical CD jewel case. I use a simple RCA/headphone y-cable to run from the Aux input in the back of the receiver to the headphone jack on the laptop.
The trouble is, the sound just isn't very good. It often sounds muddy and boomy with certain genres  -- old school rock n roll particularly. Hooking up my wife's MacBook Pro and using that as a player is an improvement, but it is still not 100%. My guess is that the soundcard on the Lenovo is just poor quality, while the soundcard on the MacBook is better, but that neither was really designed to interface that well with an analog stereo receiver.
So, I'm trying to figure out a way I can keep the NAD 7140 but get better sound out of my mp3 collection. And I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I have heard that USB-based Digital Audio Converters may be the ticket -- something like the HRT Music Streamer II or the NuForce ICON. Is that a solution you folks  could recommend? Or is there another path I should take? BTW, I'm not a fanatic when it comes to sound quality. AAC is fine by me -- no need for FLAC or other lossless formats. I just want the sound routed through my laptop to come closer to the sound routed through the CD player. IF DACs only offer infinitesimal improvements, then I think I'll pass
I'd appreciate any insight you could give

No one listens to iTunes through an analog stereo????

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entries, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

Could be a defective SIM.  Try a new one from your carrier.

I am having the same issue. And today, I noticed that when I was talking on the phone, the volume went down low. I had to reboot the phone, so that the volume was up again. Mostly, though, it's my music that I am having issues with.
Same issue as listed above. iPhone 4S. IOS6.

  • How to listen to iTunes through two separate stereo systems simultaneouly?

I was thinking of buying two Airport Express units in order to run iTunes to two seperate stereo systems in two different rooms. Can this be done, or is there a better way to accomplish this?
    thanks for any help!

    iMac G4, 800 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Pjo,
Yes, you can listen to iTunes through two separate stereo systems simultaneously. The current version of iTunes allows you to stream your music to multiple Airport Express units. At the bottom of iTunes, where the different Airport Express units' names are listed, there is a "Multiple Speakers..." option; select this to choose from one or more of your units.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to link two recording channels for stereo?

I have a zoom 6 interface which naturally records vocals in stereo with audition with its built in stereo
Mic. However, I have an external stereo mic which connects to two different inputs on my interface.
I want to link these two inputs in audition to record in stereo without recording two separate busses.
    How can I do this?
    Thanks!

You need to select a stereo input option in the channel sources choice on the track control panel (LHS). If it's possible to pair the two inputs, then this is where you do it.
Alternatively, just don't bother! Simply record two mono tracks and mix them down to a stereo track afterwards. Mind you, if you are recording vocals like this, then there really isn't a lot of point, as your voice is mono anyway, and you only really need a single output from the mic - one side or the other would do. If you are recording ambient sound, then okay, stereo - but you really don't need that for a single voice.

  • Imovie through my home stereo?

I enjoy front row and it seems to work really well. I love listening to itunes through my home stereo with the use of an Airport Express. BUT... When I play a movie on imovie, or watch a slide show through iphoto the sound comes from the dinkie little computer speakers. Does anyone know how to pipe the sound through my airport express? Thanks in advance!

There isn't a way to do this from within Front Row. However there are 3rd party applications that allow you to configure your computer to do this (I can't recall their names off hand). Basically they intercept the audio and then pipe it out to whatever output you wish (in this case the Airport Express).

  • How do you layer without logic crashing

I have a Lexicon Omega, with a Korg 01w Pro running to it. When I type the program names(Korg instrs.) that are on the Korg. (which takes forever)I'll save and it seems to be fine. Then when I open logic up next time the Kontrol 49 pop up says is no longer there. I didn't have one, I didn't think. Then a pop up says, your Lexicon no longer exists either. Its gone as well as my programed instrs. (uuuuuuuugh)
I have an apple pro training book, Pro 7 and express, and It could be that I installed it wrong or over Logic 7 and 7.1. I don't know if orig. files have been removed or misplaced, several people use this computer. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I have and Academic ver.

I think Logic is crashing because with Local=Off you've set up a MIDI feedback loop. Logic won't like that (no sequencer will!).
Your 01W (and most keyboards) are actually two devices in one: a keyboard (and I'm talking about just the keys, but you can also include the joystick and other controls) and the sound-generating part (or "sound engine"). The keyboard is "locally" connected to the sound engine by means of the Local control. So if Local=On, the keyboard is internally connected to the sound engine. If Local=Off, you are actually disconnecting the keyboard from the sound engine. Believe it or not, this is what you want to do when you're using the 01W with Logic both as a master keyboard AND a sound source. I'll explain why:
When your send MIDI from your keyboard into Logic, Logic then "thru's" that MIDI data to whatever device is assigned to the currently selected track in the Arrange window. So your keyboard is your 01W. Now, if you have a track assigned to the 01W and you play the keyboard, here's what happens:
    01W MIDI Out--->Logic In--->Track (assigned 01W)--->Logic Out--->01W MIDI In
The action of MIDI passing from Logic's input to Logic's output is called "thruput". In this case, the 01W, as assigned in the Track, is the "thru instrument". So first of all, if Local=On, anything you play will sound phased/flanged. This is because you're playing the 01W internally AND "thru" Logic, right back into the 01W. It happens so fast that the notes kind of cancel each other, resulting in the phase/flange sound. This is why Local has to be turned Off. Well, that's one reason anyway...
As to why you're not getting sound when you make Local=off has to do with your MIDI configuration, which I'm afraid still isn't set up right.
    Do this test:
    1) Quit Logic
    2) AMS setup cleared entirely (except for the Interface, which you can't get rid of anyway)
    3) Launch Logic
    4) Go to the Clicks and Ports layer of the Environment
    5) Delete everything in there except for the MIDI Click icon
    6) Go to your MIDI Instruments layer
    7) Create a new instrument (not a multi)
    8) Assign it to the correct ports for your 01W, channel 1
    9) Turn local off on your 01W
    10) Put the 01W into program mode, receive channel = 1
    11) In the Arrange window, assign the 01W to a track
    12) Play the keyboard. You should have sound.
Get back to me on how this works.
