How to monitor Library Server storage?

I can't figure out how to monitor the Library Server storage in VMM console.  The VMM server is the only library server and it's using an iSCSI lun.
I just want to know how much space is available on the storage for the library server.
any ideas?
Do i need to configure it as a provider with SMI-S??

I installed Nagios Core in my Ubuntu workstation 10.04 for me to learn something new in my craft. I use this now to monitor our Windows Server 2008 with MySQL server installed as well as our Datalink Switch (DGS-1210-24). I searched on google on how to monitor a MYSQL server installed in Windows server using Nagios Core but i could not seem to find any. Could anybody who's expert in Nagios give me steps on how to do so. Thanks. All i found in google were steps in monitoring mysql installed in linux and nothing in windows server.

  • How to monitor MySQL Server installed in Windows Server using Nagios

You can do this via NSClient as Gary posted. The NSClient is a communications system that allows nagios to send commands to a target system over the nsclient protocol and they are executed on the remote system. You will still have to build some kind of vbscript or plugin to run on the target system to do the actual query to check on mysql. There are other options to. If you enable snmp on your target computer you can use a few nagios plugins to query the snmp agent on the target computer to see if a service is running. To do this via snmp you will need this plugin "check_snmp_process.pl" fromthis site.Your check command will look something like this:check_win_process:= check_snmp_process.pl -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -C "$USER6$" -n "$ARG1$" -w $ARG2$ -c $ARG3$The service definition will be like this:check_win_process!sqlservr!0!0This will check...

  • How to monitor Chart Server/Javahost is up?

I'm having difficulty setting up a monitoring function to ensure Chart Server/Javahost is up in our OBI EE environment.
I want to be notified if it goes down.
So far I've tried using the Oracle BI management pack add-on for Enterprise Manager Grid Control
--After verifying the JMX credentials and starting up the agent (nohup ./runagent.sh &), and waiting for an hour, the EMGC performance tab only shows 0.0 (zeroes) for the collected metrics for Chart Engine.
All the other metrics on this page return normal numbers such as 33%, etc. It seems to be working, it's just the data is all zeroes. -?
I also tried using a simple shell script to collect the % cpu utilization of the javahost process every 1 sec for an hour, during normal load times.
    ps -eo pcpu,pid,args | grep "javahost" | awk '{print $1}' | awk -F% '{print $1}'
Same thing: It collected almost all zeroes (0.0) for all output, except one single case of "0.1" sometime in the middle.
Any ideas on why the %cpu is almost always 0.0 ? Or if there's a better way to verify that Chart Server is up and working?
Right now I've created a metric under Enterprise Mgr to check every 5 minutes if the javahost port (9810 tcp) is listening.
But that is not the greatest validation, IMO.
    Thanks for any feedback/solutions!

    rnm1978 -thanks for your reply.
I'm monitoring chart server because sometime last year, our BI server app went down due to chart server. That process started taking up cpu and saturated it.
We ended up having to kill -9 the pid and restart sawserver.
In this scenario, I'm thinking my script would probably still report that port 9810 is listening and we wouldn't be informed of the problem at hand.
I'm using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10g as our monitoring app. We don't have/use HP openview since we're an oracle shop.

It works fine when use Listenport 7001, but when enable the Administration Port(9002), it does not work.
Maybe I should do something to set the system environment property, but how?

    HI,
If the admin port is enabled then you have to use these parameters to run any scripts
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
    -Dweblogic.security.TrustKeyStore=DemoTrust
-The you can use Admin URL: t3s://localhost:9002 with Admin Port and Secure Protocol.
    Example:
    java -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true -Dweblogic.security.TrustKeyStore=DemoTrust  weblogic.WLST application_status.py
Initializing WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) ...
Welcome to WebLogic Server Administration Scripting Shell

  • How can Monitor Windows Servies on OEM

    Hi,
I want to monitor some specific Windows services using OEM, How can i do this.
Please help on this, Is available any plug-in or scripts....
    Thanks in advance
    YJR

    Hi YJR,
I hope I'm understanding you correctly - you want to monitor only one specific service?
You could use the command Shant provided to you and just do a findstr for the name. Example:
    nmefwmi "wbem_classname= win32_service" "wbem_properties=name, pathname, processid, Started, startmode, state, status" "wbem_namespace=root\cimv2" | findstr name=W32Time
this results in following on my example host:
    name=W32Time|pathname=C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalService|processid=1352|started=True|startmode=Auto|state=Running|status=OK
So now you'd have a lot of useful information on your service - and only your service - already in a pipe separated line, easy to get into an own metric.
Please tell me if I'm going in the wrong direction here.
Btw: Thanks Shant for showing that possibility, never knew the agent had a tool for that.
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • How to monitor all SAP Server through solution Manager?

    Dear Friends,
How to monitor all SAP Server through solution Manager?
Is it possible if yes then how? Please forward configuration and transaction also.
Please help me as early as possible..
    Thanks,
    Regards,

    Hi sachin,
You can monitor your sattilite systems through solution manager.
If you want to monitor systems in solution manager means you need to configure those systems in solution manager.
Before including the systems in solution manager we need to create a solution using tcode <b>DSWP</b>.
After that you can include the systems using tcode <b>SMSY</b>.
For configuring the systems we have lot of phases its very difficult to explain here.
Try to login to<b> service.sap.com</b> and <b>help.sap.com</b> find the helpfull guides.
i hope it will help you.

  • How to monitor oracle 11g database sessions on Windows 2008 server?

    Hi Experts
How to monitor the Oracle 11g database sessions on Windows 2008 server (other than SQL Developer tool), which procedure or query is taking more time with Java application.

Recently i found this tool- myorasql on the net to monitor the performence of database, easy to setup and check the performence.  i never tested it but seems impresive.  It is free and i think it would be use ful to you.

You can also use Quest - Toad or sqlplus if you are very good at sql commands and all dictionary tables or OEM/EM grid if it is configured .

  • How to refer to J2EE library server component from a web service?

    Hi,
I need help!  I created a web service and it worked fine.  However, I started having problems when I tried to use java classes from my deployable J2EE library server component.  I got the NoClassDefFound error.
I tried to include the library DC in the Used DC list and put the reference of it in the web service deployment descriptor xml (application.xml and application-j2ee-engine.xml), but it did not work.
How do I refer and use java classes from my deployable J2EE library at run time from my web service application?  What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Giavinh Pham

I would like to clarify more about the web service project.  I created a Java DC project and converted it into a web service as the SAP manual instructions.  It worked fine by itself, but I now want to use some of my classes that I deployed as a J2EE library server component.
It was compiled and built when I refer to my J2EE library server component DC in the UsedDC.  It was deployed fine as well.  However, it broke when I tested the web service calls.  The class declarations and usage from the J2EE server component could not be found (NoClassDefFound error.)
I thought it was because I did not have an application-j2ee-engine.xml in my META-INF folder so I created one and referred to the library in xml as type library and reference 'strong'.  I built and deployed again.  It still did not work.
I examined the EAR and noticed that there were two parts of the EAR.  One is the WSAR archive file that contains the META-INF folder from my project and other web service assemblies.  The other part is the META-INF folder generated by the SAP NetWeaver IDE.
The strange thing was that SAP NetWeaver IDE generated an application-j2ee-engine.xml without any reference to my J2EE library server component.  However, the nested application-j2ee-engine.xml in the WSAR archive file did contain the info.
Since I cannot control the application-j2ee-engine.xml generated by SAP NetWeaver IDE, what should I do?  Is it the cause for my problem?
    Please advice, anyone?

    Hi Experts,
What perfmon counters can I use to monitor load on the sql server and trend it over time?
    Thank you.
    Hi,
Similar thread listing all possible counters to monitor SQL server performance. Apart from
using perfmon counters you should first create a baseline for SQL Server. Understand your system, for some system 60 % CPU usage is normal for some 50 % might indicate issue. Know your system completely collect counter values when system is not under load
this would be your mark anything more than that would require your attention.
Reading errorlog/event viewer is also good in terms of performance monitoring. Please read below article by Jonathan it would help you

  • How to monitor phyisical memory utilization

Can anyone let me know how to monitor the physical memory utilization using monitors/rules?
The existing monitor which is there in windows server management pack monitors the virtual memory where as i wanted to monitor physical memory

You have to create the monitor yourself.
This monitor is called a Static threshold performance monitor. In the counter list, choose % commited bytes

  • How to monitor end user response times?

    Hi everyone.
I'm using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.5.0 for monitoring our development environment. We have many products but my focus is on a web application that is running on an Oracle Application Server. I need to monitor the reponse time of every HTTP request to check if this time is in the range of our SLAs.
I've seen that OHS monitoring shows the mean response time, resource consumption, etc. But I haven't found any that lets me do more detailed monitoring (at the level o HTTP request).
I'm reading right now 3 books about it but it does't mention this feature (just in case):
    - Middleware Management with Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10gR5
    - Oracle Enterprise Manager Administration 10.2.0.5 (from Oracle Library)
    - Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Contro lInstallation And Configuration 10.2.0.5.0
¿Does anybody knows if Enterprise Manager have this feature?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi.
    Sorry for a long delay.
The answer was so generic and didn't help too much. But today, after several days of research I found how to monitor the user perceived performance by using "End-User Performance Monitoring". In theory this feature lets me register a Web Server and monitor its access log and also create a SLAs monitor based on it.
Right now I'm reading a lot about it just and trying of enable it to an OHS. I did it for an Oracle Web Cache.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your interest and if someone find it useful, when I get more functionality working, I'll post something here.
    Best regards.

  • Importing a pkg with rely on server storage and roles for access control

Hi we run std 2008 r2.  I'm reading documentation on prot levels during pkg import to catalog at
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141747(v=sql.105).aspx but unfortunately the definition of prot level "rely on server storage and roles for access control"
isn't clear.  They used the prot level name to define it which didn't help me.
This option looks appealing but it isn't clear why I need to enter a pswd when choosing this option.  Will my peers need to know that pswd when they export?  Will the sql agent job need to present that pswd when running?  If I just keep current
prot level "encrypt with user" will the agent job be able to run it?  I'm sure it (agent) isn't running with my creds now.  Also, how can I tell what prot level it was deployed with last?  I rt clicked on the pkg in the catalog
and don't see anything obvious about that.  I already understand that on export prot level is changed to encrypt with user.
I'm going to look at the sql agen job right now to see what creds it runs with.

First thing to understand is that protection level is used for determining how package (dtsx) file have to be protected. Once package is deployed in server and executed from agent, the conventional way is to use method of configurations or parameters if
2012 to get required connection etc values and execute using it. It never uses the values that were set during the design time. So it doesnt matter what protection level was so far as its based on config
However if you're planning to export existing package to your system and do modification thats where protection level comes to play. If its set to any of ENcryptSensitive... type value then you'll to provide the value (either a passowrd or your userkey which
it takes automatically from login info) to see the sensitive info (connection info, passwords etc) The package will still open and so far as you manually type in missing values you will be able to execute the package. If protection level is set to one of ENcrptAll
then you will have no way to open package itself unless you provide password/ have correct userkey.
The rely on server storage option uses sql server security context itself ie it doesnt do any encryption within package by itself but will assume values based on sqlserver security. This is used when you store package itself in SQLServer itself (MSDB)
