How do I most efficiently export photos on their original format with all metadata and adjustments applied? I am looking for a solution for exporting corrected photos between computers with Lightroom 5 installed. Preferably with no exporting or merging of catalogs.

And yet exporting a catalog is the perfect solution for communicating with another LR catalog...
But if you really want to export photos , File>Export should work. I guess I don't really understand what your concerns are.

The only way to do that is to export the image to a new file and then re-import it.
It's not really the intended way of working as it uses twice the disk space and is inefficient.
Use Albums instead. A Photo can be in any number of albums and use no extra disk space as it just simply references the image in the Library. Albums can be sorted any way you want - including manaually - and can have image from anywhere in the Library just by drag and drop. -

Hello, I'm quite interested in buying Lightroom 5.2. I tried the RC which ran out now. Yet, I have a several questions that I can't really find good conclusive answers to, that I'd like to get answered before buying LR. Please don't write maybe like this or that (assumptions), since I don't want to start my whole workflow and then realize that I have to change everything around, so please answer, if you know for sure that something works and you are, preferably, using that method too.
This is the biggest question, where I mainly want a conclusive answer: How do I manage Lightroom photos when using 2 computers, keeping all edits made on either one of them, using the same photos for editing. I won't use DNG. Details: I mainly use my older MacBook Pro, but would like to be able to use my PC as it's way better (Specs: i5 2500K, 16GB RAM, SSD, USB3, nVidia GTX 560 TI etc.). I have 2 external HDs that I could use, one for Backup and one for the actual Photos/Edits. I'll probably need to use it as my internal HDs are quite full, and I can't just delete stuff or move it to an (Developer programs, Lossless music, etc.).
Based on this, how do I back up the whole thing e.g. Photos folder (all photos and edits, and preferably presets too)?I believe it should be possible to work cross-platform without having to relink files each time, or without having to keep exporting/importing the catalog, by keeping the single catalog and the image library on the one external drive which is then switched between systems as needed.
Obvious first requirement is an external drive that is formatted in such a way (e.g FAT32) that it can be used on both platforms in read/write mode. Given that, if the catalog AND the images parent folder are both established at the same level in one overall parent folder, then it should be possible to take advatage of Lightroom's ability to use relative paths rather than absolute paths to detect the images, no matter if the drive is named (Mac) or lettered (PC). This is how "export as Catalog" works, i.e. it creates a "package", aka a parent folder, containing the catalog and a replica of the exported images folder hierarchy alongside the catalog. Take that "package" to another system (same OS or not) and "it just works" even if the drive letter is different or the OS is different....because the relative path from catalog to images is still the same.
I haven't tested this cross-platform (though I have between different PC systems with different drive letters) so for me it's still just a theory, but there may be others who have done this successfully. -
I keep getting the same recovered files in the trash. How do I put them back to their original place so that they do not keep being recovered very time I open my Mac?
The recovered files are temporary files used by Mac OS X applications. Usually temporary files are deleted by an application when it no longer needs them. If an application quits unexpectedly, the temporary files may not be deleted by the application. When you restart your computer, Mac OS X moves these temporary files to the Trash.
You can retrieve useful files by dragging them out of the Trash. In most cases, however, the temporary files are not important and it is safe to empty your Trash. Check with the manufacturer of the application if you are not sure. -

You have to have an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) or Mac to create an iCloud account. However, if you tell your friend to create a shared photo stream and turn on Public Website, he/she will then be able to send you a link that will allow you to view the photos on the internet using your web browser. You would not be able to comment on the photos as this requires an iCloud account, but you would be able to view them.

Is your iMac the computer you normally sync your iPad to?
If so put your photos into albums in iphoto on your imac. Then start iTunes on your iMac and connect your iPad to your iMac. In iTunes on your iMac select your iPad in the left column and selectPhotos in the right column. Scroll down and select the photo albums you want on your iPad. Then select Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. This will load the sleuthed photo albums onto your iPad. Do the same for iPhone. -
how do I view the photos ? I backed up with iPhoto closed as recommended but when I enter the Time Machine and click on iPhoto library it calculates there is 11gb in there so files must be present but when i click on open with iPhoto nothing happens ? any help welcome please !!??
The external hard drive must connect to your Mac using a USB or FireWire connection.
Note that the hard drive must be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) to work correctly with the iPhoto Library and be backed up to the Time Capsule and with the backups of your Mac.

I have just tried to export photos from my iphone to a CD/R and the disc is stuck in my machine, and a device called `rude *******' has appeared in the finder panel. This is not a joke can anyone assist?

How to save documents in their original format?

we have the problem that we have to save and archive received documents at the adapter engine in their original format, p.e. EDIFACT- or RosettaNet-documents in their original EDIFACT- or RosettaNet-format.
Is it possible to save the documents at the adapters in their original format?
I didn't find any documantation about this.
Has anybody a solution for this problem?

Since upgrading to 7.0.3 (iPhone 5, 64gb, with iTunes Match enabled) almost all of my music has vanished from my phone (weirdly some hasn't).
Downloading it again, most of the artwork has been mixed up with other artists, and I'm no longer able to stream or download over 3G (all tracks greyed out), though my network settings etc are all set correctly.
Lastly since upgrading to iOS 7.0.1 (and beyond) Genuis has become effectively useless: it continually asks me to connect to wi-fi, and if I do it creates playlists mostly composed of tracks by the same artists or those very obviously linked to them- previously it created brilliant, nuanced playlists.
Are these things connected, and how do I fix them?I have done this on numerous occasions but I think that my Iphone has a defect. After many tries, reinstalls, deletion of content, changing content to be stored on external hard drive, deleting itunes and cleaning computer I managed to get all of the songs on and things seemed okay for a while.
The problem returned about a week ago after downloading a new album from Itunes. I now have 12.5k of songs leaving 10gb spare on Iphone which should be more than enough room to operate properly. Last night it seemed to be dowloading ok (after doing all of the above again for the umpteenth time) this morning it revealed that it had just synched 2.5k of songs and 18gb of "other" on the contents bar. it wont synch now as it says its over capacity. So the 18gb of "other" would probably be corrupted data that means it must corrupt each song as it tries to synch it.
The 2.5k of songs it did synch are working on the Iphone as is every song in the library on Itunes. I did completely delete the new album I bought and redownloaded it from the store then tried to synch just that album and it worked fine.
Just about time to dump apple I think! -

Hi, The show I'm working on is using FCP 5.1.4 and we need to use the Bloom filter provided in Final Cut Studio 2 (which we had used in the previous season of the show). I'm just wondering if anyone knows a way to get the Bloom filter into FCP 5.1.4.
