How to move Aperture photos to Qnap

I have aQnap server to backup  my computers and photos. I cannot use iPhoto to see the albums as they are in iPhoto. Is this possible with Aperture or photoshop ?

Check out the Discussion Forums http://forum.qnap.com and Help on the QNAP web site and the ones you can access once you log into your QNAP in Safari.  There are lots of suggestions and guidelines to help you.  Also check out the videos on youtube that they offer.
Aperture and Iphoto use the same physical Library now, so you will not see a difference in behaviour.
Photoshop does not have a Library like Aperture or iPhoto and also does not provide any way of managing your versions or your collection of photos.  Everything would be manuayl done by you.
I think the best solution is to keep your iPhoto Library on your local hard drive (or external expansion drive if you need more space) and back it up with TimeMachine to your NAS or an external hard drive.  TimeMachine backups are supported by QNAP.  You should also do periodic back-ups to an external drive that you can keep in a safety deposit box in case of fire or theft of your equipment.

Just got 3rd generation Apple TV - does anyone know how to get Aperture photos to show up?  I've set up home sharing

In the iTunes application go to file > homesharing and choose the photos you wish to share, click apply/sync and you should then be able to select the photos on the Apple TV.

  • How to move my photos from PC to Mac (just imported from PSE!)?

I just loaded up LR1.0 and imported my library (about 15000 images) from PS Elements 4.0. Huzzah! It worked perfectly, including all keywords and even the keyword hierarchy. So far, life is very good, indeed.
Now, there are two more steps, and I'm not sure how to take them. I want to convert all the .nef's (about 7500) to .dng's, and move the whole thing to my new MacPro. I'd like to archive the .nef's, but then get them out of my main tree.
    How should I do this?
I can think of a couple methods, but I don't know which will work better.
    1. Write the metadata to all files, which will create lots of xmp's including my keywords, etc. Then archive the whole tree, and convert to dng, deleting the .nef's. Then move the photo tree to the mac and re-import into LR there. Since I haven't done any LR developing / editing that I care about, I guess I won't lose anything important, right? The keywords should be there, though not the keyword hierarchy.
    2. Move the library as well as the photos. Then do the dng conversion on the mac. If it works, this would be better because I wouldn't lose my keyword hierarchy. Is this possible?
Once I move, I don't expect to move back to PC, so I don't need to retain interoperability.

I don't know. Copy the parent folder and the Library file. Don't bother moving the previews LR will regenerate them.
If Lightroom can't find them a ? will be beside them. Click it and then point to the file. Lightroom should find the rest, but you may need to do it for each folder..

  • How to move selected photos to iCloud (I have 29Gb photos and 15Gb iCloud storage)?

    Hi
I have 29Gb photos and I can't back them all up in my 15Gb iCloud storage.
How to move some of them to iCloud?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello MagStock,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
It is not possible to save photos to iCloud directly.
    iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4486
Does using My Photo Stream substitute for using iCloud Backup or iTunes to back up the photos in my Camera Roll ?
No. Photos in My Photo Stream are saved on the iCloud server for 30 days. To save or back up these photos, you must copy them from My Photo Stream to your Camera Roll on your iOS device. You can then back up your Camera Roll using iCloud or iTunes.
    iCloud: Photos overview

iCloud also stores all your photos recently added to your devices in My Photo Stream.
    Have a nice day,

  • How to move/share photos between libraries?

I recently learned how to create a new iphoto library (in addition to my default library) so I can organize my photos into distinct groups. I would like to move some photos from the original library to the new one. How do I do this?
    Thank you!
    CJ

You can move the photo by exporting it from one library, switching to the second library and importing it- this will not keep faces or all metadata - the best solution to managing multiple libraries is iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  If you want or need multiple libraries it is a great $20 investment

  • How to move a photo into a different project

I'm trying to clean up my projects and organize them better, but I'm stuck because I have mistakenly gathered unrelated photos into too many projects. I just want to move a photo from one project to another, but I'm not getting how to do it. I've been able to merge projects which has helped a lot, but some photos just don't belong in the projects they are in. Is there some simple thing I'm missing?

Drag the selected Image(s) from the Browser and drop them on the target Project's name in the Library Inspector.
You may find it helpful to flag Images in various containers that you want to move into a specific Project, then select the Flagged container from the Library inspector, select all the flagged Images, and drag-and-drop them into the target Project.
More information is here in the User Manual.

  • HT201317 how to move existing photos to icloud??

Is there a way to move existing photos to icloud??

The only way to do this on an iOS device is to view the picture full screen and take a screen shot (press home and power buttons quickly).  That will create a new picture that is added to photo stream, but it will only have the screen's resolution, not the original.

  • How to move aperture

    Hi,
I am running Aperture on an old macbook pro. I have just got a new macbook pro and need to move Aperture across with the Library.
I do not want to use Migration assistant as I only want to move the applications that I want.
    Many Thanks.

The library can just be copied. If the masters are managed it's as easy as dragging the library from one systems HD to the others. if the masters are referenced then you will need to move those also.
The easiest way to do this is to use target disk mode. Search the Apple Support site for directions if you are unfamiliar with the setup.
The app is a different matter you really need to install it from your original media on the new system. Trying to copy an app manually will cause problems as they may have installed things in places other then the App folder.

  • How to move Aperture Application back to computer, but keep Library on External HD?

Many thanks in advance for your attention.
    1. As my Aperture Library started out of the gate large, I began by putting both the Aperture Application and all of the Library on an External Hard Drive.
    2. How do I move the Aperture Application back to my computer, but leave all the Library (and its photos, contents, etc.) on the External Hard Drive?
    3. I tried opening a new Aperture Library on my computer and then attached my External Hard Drive.  I tried clicking that I wanted to keep all the data on the Eternal Hard Drive (presumably this would just transfer the Reference files to my computer - but leave the 100s of GB of photos and data on the External Hard Drive). But the Import button remains greyed out. It is like the Aperture Application on my computer sees another Aperture Application and Library on the External Hard Drive. One Library is open (on computer), so it can't access photos in 2nd Library - (External Drive). But if I open up External Drive Library, then I can't import in the direction I want.
    4. I don't want to import One Project. I am trying to now have my Aperture App and Reference files on computer, while keeping all my photos, etc. on External drive.
    5. One more question as I have read and heard it both ways. Some people say - One Aperture Library for all photos is the best way. That is the point of it. To organize all your photos.
    6. Others say - One library is absurd. As it grows and grows, it slows down and gets sluggish. Better to have multiple (smaller) libraries.

Thanks for this link as well.
This person seems to want to illustrate that you can have multiple Libraries, which you can.  The first example given is a good one: one Library for professional work (I was paid to make these, and I sell them), and one Library for, as the author states, "snapshots of family and friends".  The second example is suspect.  That is the author's Library for his Aikido club.  This seems set up simply so that he can show a third Library.  The Library does no appear to be used much, and is very small.  There is no reason such a Library shouldn't be either in his Professional Library (I get paid to take shots of my Aikido club) or in his personal Library (my Aikido friends).
I put both this person and the other person to whose video you linked in the category of helpful people who have knowledge but not much experience.  (And let me here acknowledge that I tend to overstate my case: I'm happy to have my experience improved -- but I didn't see anything in either citation that did that.)
A year ago I stated my general rules for creating Libraries.  I stick by them today:
    My rules-of-thumb are:
    •  One Library for each photographer or group of functionally identical photographers (a company that shoots weddings, for example) when the author/copyright-holder of the image is important.
    •  Separate Libraries for "authorless" images of a specific category (I keep a Library of paintings and drawings; who made the photographs is of no interest).
    •  Separate Libraries for items which need to be handled securely (medical documentation, for example)

  • How to move the photos from my boot drive to a newly installed hard drive?

    - regarding iPhoto's storage, etc.... Where is the iPhoto library located anyway? And - how to transfer it to the brand new hard drive?
I want to add a ned hard drive just to keep the media there, so I would like to transfer all the GBs worth of photos (the whole iPhoto library or - what folder, really?).
What do I need to do in order to accomplish this task?, and assuming that there is no problem moving all the photos (as I understand it would mean Originals, Modified & Data) - can I then just delete the original iPhoto Library (but from where?) somewhere on my boot drive?
Basically - I want to move all the photos from my boot drive to the newly installed hard drive, and after a successful move, I'd like to delete all the same photos from its original location (the boot drive).

One addition to Larry's steps: make sure the external drive is formatted OS X Extended (journaled) and have it set to ignore ownership as seen here:
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How to move all Photos to external Drive/make that default storage

I have stored all of my IPhotos on my internal Mac drive. This was a dumb mistake cause now it is full. So I would like to make my tera drive the default location for all future photos and move all existing photos to the tera drive as well.
How do I do that without losing all my photos???
    Thanks
    Dennis

First: Make sure this “tera drive” is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Otherwise you will have problems with your Library.
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
    Regards
    TD

  • How to move some photos to external drive?

I have the majority of my photos located on an external drive. Recently after upgrading to PSE 11 I noticed that when I import photos from my sd card that they are located on my c:\ drive.
    1) How do I safely move the files located on c:\ to my external drive?
    2) change the default location so file will automatically be saved on the external drive?
    Thanks in advance

    1) Try drag and drop from the Organizer folder panel.
    2) Launch Organizer and press Ctrl+G for the downloader, then connect your camera or device and use the browse button under save options.
