How to move documents, favorites, and downloads from a windows to a mac?

I have some of these things in a USB but when I try to move them to where I think they are supposed to be they are not the same like with documents it just tells me it came from a Hewlett Packard and when the last time I used it was, favorites doesn't even have a place in my Mac, and downloads also doesn't have a place in my Mac. Also some of the files are lnk files so it would be nice to know how to fix that.

the apps will not be deleted if the itunes is authorised for the apple id from which you downloaded the apps.
for the songs if you have downloaded it from a store other than itunes an app "TuneAid" will help you. download the full version then you can copy all the songs on the ipad to ur itunes library

Two steps:
you can first transfer photos from iPhone to computer and then drag them to the external hard drive. For your iTunes library, you can follow:
1. Quit iTunes.
2. Locate your external drive.
Mac: On the desktop or Finder sidebar.
3. Locate your iTunes folder:By default, the iTunes folder is located in:
Mac: Finder > username > Music
4. Drag the iTunes folder to your external drive. This can take a while if you have a lot of items.
6. When the transfer is complete, your iTunes Library will have been successfully copied to your external drive.

I Need to move the mirrlogA and mirrlogB directories from C drive to D drive do i need to make any modifications to the configuration files.
i can only this line in intDEV.ora file.but i can see the directories in C drive mirrlogA and mirrlogB but i cant find the entries in initDev.ora abt the C drive.
"control_files = (D:\oracle\DEV\origlogA\cntrl\cntlrDEV.dbf, D:\oracle\DEV\origlogB\cntrl\cntrlDEV.dbf, D:\oracle\DEV\sapdata1\cntrl\cntrlDEV.dbf)"

If you do not modify any oracle "settings" .. you have to do 2 things.
1) Change the entry in the pfile / spfile for the control files
2) Rename the redo log files to the new location with the ALTER DATABASE RENAME command after you have shutdown your database

iCloud doesn't store movies or music. It only allows you to redownload purchases from the iTunes store if you ever lose them (assuming they are still available to redownload, and in the case of movies, that the studio permits it.) Also iCloud only stores your camera roll photos in your backup, which can only be accessed by restoring your iPad to the entire backup.
iCloud isn't designed to do what you are trying to do. iCloud is for syncing data across all your devices and for backing up your devices, not storing your data. You use iTunes on your computer for that. iTunes will add your purchased videos and music to your iTunes library so you can remove it from your iPad and add it back later if you want. To save your photos you import them to your computer (and then delete them from your iPad if you want) as described in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

I had to reinstall Vista 7 OS. I have a full Windows backup of my machine, prior to the re-installation. How do I retrieve the bookmarks and passwords from the backup? I understand they're stored in various files a ".default" folder in C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\mozilla\firefox\profiles. When I try restoring the folder, the files get skipped... When I try browsing for the individual files, I don't see them!

Many thanks for your responses... After a little scouting on the web, I have found THE solution... This is all due to the way Windows 7 Backup works, and will NOT let restore apps...
("File restore in Windows7 is not designed to restore back applications. This is because the application state is spread across potentially multiple folders, files & registry. Windows7 file backup is not aware of where all the state is spread to be able to restore the entire application accurately as such information is internal to the application. Restoring application partially might corrupt the application and render the application unusable. So we do not allow restoring applications from file backup.
In case files under C:\Program Files etc. are chosen for restoring, we block restoring files from backup to such locations as it might cause the applications to not function.'')
What one has to do when restoring is to NOT attempt to restore to the original location, but to select the radio button which allows you to type a path where you want the files restored and type in the path of the original location!!! Then select copy and replace...A little quirky (and tedious), but it works!

I recently purchased a mac mini and waiting on its arrival. I am converting from WinXP and my current system is not working at the moment (started smelling smoke one day and the video hasn't displayed since from the PC - so its been shut down). I can easily fix whatever the issue is with the PC - however - my question is. I perform periodic backup of my data files to an external drive with Windows Backup, can I restore my files from the Windows Backup to the Mac Mini? If I don't have to fix the PC - I can save that cost and buy an CD drive for the Mini (or something else).
I haven't investigated the real problem on the PC - I just know its hardware related (not OS).
My last backup was atleast 1 month ago - so I know I might lose a couple of things....but not very much. If its "simplier" for the migration process to fix the PC - then that is the answer but if I can extract from the external 1TB Seagate. I think I only have 50GB of data (itunes / pictures / etc)

Downloading from a windows to a mac

Not to sure where to ask this but I was curious if i could download the adobe master suite i have for windows onto my mac via an online download. I'm not to sure how this works in this case or if i have to re-buy my adobe programs but any help is appreciated, Thank you. I also have with me the serial number and box if need be.

serial numbers for master suites are platform specific. ie, you either have a window or a mac serial number.

I just reinstalled the mac osx from scratch and also installed the applications dvd,including iphoto.After syncing with my mobileme account and launching iphoto ,i can see all the event names on the left side bar under the "MOBILEME GALLERY "and when i click on any of them ,after seeing the mobileme turning wheel ,the photos of that perticular event appear on the right side and then the cloud icon shows next to that event name again,but after that transaction takes place for each single event,when i click on the "LIBRARY" events or photos ,nothing appears on the right side.
My question is ,when we sync with our mobile me gallery ,aren't we supposed to get our photos back to the computer's library automatically?
and if not ,how do we get the photos and iphotos library and events back to a freshly installed operating system.

No - you need to drag the photos for the MoblieMe galleries to the library

The best way would be to load the backup you made just before erasing your drive and installing OS X
