How to move mobile applications, artwork, games folders?

Hi,
I added an external harddrive to my PC today due to my music harddrive (drive J:) running out of space. I moved/consolidated my music/media to the new external harddrive (drive E:) per instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364?viewlocale=en_US This seemed to work fine....all my music and movies are moved to the new external drive.
However, I noticed that my Mobile Applications, Games, and Artwork are still located on my main harddrive (drive C:), within my iTunes folder (same place as my library xml files).
I'd like to move these application folders also, since my C drive is pretty full also. I'm ok with leaving the library files and iTunes folder there, but really need to move the other stuff to the new external drive.
How can I do this?
Thanks, Mike

Answers depend on who is logged on, and their knowledge. This is basically a user chat board although a few Apple employees do drop in, sometimes.
The Mobile Apps & Artwork folders are stored wherever the ITL file is stored. If they are still going to your C: drive, then your ITL file is on the C: drive.
If you want those folders on your exHD, then move the ITL file over there while itunes is closed. Then press and hold the shift key while starting itunes and pick the ITL file that is on your exHD. iTunes will start using the new location from then on....but your old stuff will still be in the old location.
To keep things straight, after doing that, you should download a free app and make sure you know where to copy over the apps from your C: drive. You might need to tell itunes where to find your apps since you moved them around using Win Explorer.
You can do the same thing with a free single of the week, to see where the new Artwork folders should be.

  • How to move Mobile Applications folder while sharing an Itunes library

For reasons that would be long and hard to explain, I decided some times ago to open a second user on my Book Pro dedicated to my music collection. The collection required to be stored on an external HDD, so the second user's Itunes folder links to a folder where all music is stored, and I put it with all library files (xml etc) in the Shared folder. Now I have decided to let the primary and mostly used user to share the same music of the secondary one. I easily succeeded in doing this, just simply opening the primary ITunes and ask it to link to the Itunes folder under the Shared folder. I have got my entire library also from the primary user, with covers and so on.
The trouble is that I use to manage an Iphone with the primary ITunes, and since I have not moved the Mobile Application folder (and what more?) into the shared ITunes folder, I cannot see anymore all data and applications into my IPhone section under ITunes, and I do not want to run experiments, doing a sync and just running the risk to lose all. How can I share the same ITunes library between two users, but to allow one of those still to see the IPhone data that was originally managed only from her ITunes, that now addresses to the ITunes folder under Shared folder that addresses to a HDD?.....

Still misspeaking. Further use reveals that while the users iTunes use the shared file, when the phones add new apps their iTunes recreates its iTunes Media directory in the users home folder. This time I can exit iTunes, move the apps to the shared Mobile Applications, delete and empty trash the original apps/ and folder, then the users iTunes will find the app in the shared folder when it restarts. Clearly not very tidy...

  • How to re-sync applications and games?

Well, oh help! I had so many trouble after installing iTunes 8. For months everything went well. The family has an iPod touch 16 GB, an iPod Classic 160 GB and an iPod Video 80 GB. With MultiTunes I used different Libraries and everything went well.
I have a Mac Pro Quad-Core with 4 internal hard disks. For months I placed my iTunes folder (150 GB!!) on another internal disk than my startup disk. After installing iTunes 8 everything went wrong. I received the 13005 error and after I managed to start up iTunes, the program began to copy the whole library to my startup disk. Ow no! I forced iTunes to stop and everything crashed. Thank you Apple!
First I lost all my libraries, also the libraries of MultiTunes. Further I didn’t get permission to read my own folders and many tracks in iTunes 8 sounds choppy and scratchy. So far, so good. I tried to revert to iTunes 7, but my iPod touch was already updated for iTunes 8. After searching in your discussions (searching for hours and to little help) en some hacking in my own computer I restored (imported) a sort of library for my iPod touch. But now my purchased music has disappeared, en none of my many (payed!) applications are visible to sync.
All of these applications are in ~/music/itunes/Mobile Applications/ but I don’t know how to use them. Some of the applications are on my iPod touch, but I don’t know how to back up them for further use.
With the iPods classic and video it’s the same. The games are on the iPods, and all games are visible in ~/music/itunes/iPod Games, but I can’t see them anymore in the iPods to sync.
Please, how to restore this awfull mess?

You haven't received a response or an answer. I have a similar question. I want to transfer my iTunes library from my PC at home to a 2nd PC laptop at my office.

  • How to move an application

Is it feasible to move an application (already properly installed) from one volume, or machine, to another?
I know applications normally require installers.
For istance, I've got iPhoto installed on one of my machines. I can't remember how it got there. I don't have the installer disk and don't feel like buying it.
Has someome described a series of steps I can follow to move an application like this to a different machine? Let's say I'm using a thumb drive to do it. I know other files and folders related to the application would have to be located, copied, and then pasted in the right places on the new volume.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tim

    Hi Timothy,
Many applications can just be copied -- drag the application or its folder from Applications folder to Applications folder. More complex apps can install code for themselves in /Library/Application Support. You'd want to check out and probably copy anything named for the application or the company, e.g., both Palm folders if you were moving the Palm Desktop application. DON'T just copy the Application Support folder
Settings in <your home folder>/Library/Preferences, as Kappy notes. While in <your home folder>/Library, look for folders relevant to your app, e.g., iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins.
You might have to move some fonts, if an application installed them and expects them to be present.
A few apps scatter themselves more widely and for all practical purposes have to be reinstalled.
Please be aware of copyright. Some version of iPhoto shipped with all recent releases of the OS, so copying that version to a machine where it had been deleted / lost / deliberately not installed would be fine. But iPhoto version 6 is a pay-for upgrade for most of us. Copying that would be a license and copyright violation.

  • Creating new feature in ADF mobile application creates unnecessary folders

    Hi,
Jdev 11.1.2.3.0 with ADF mobile extension
    Windows 7, 64 bit.
When I create a new feature in a ADF mobile application and change the name of the feature in the create wizard Jdeveloper creates some unnecessary folders.
    e.g.:
    - Default package of the mobile application is "com.name.mobile"
    - I entered the feature name "testFeature1" in the create-feature wizard.
--> follwing folders has been created:
    - com.name.mobile.tes
    - com.name.mobile.testFeature1
In some of my tests up to 4 directories has been created for 1 new feature.
I have opened windows file explorer parallel to Jdeveloper and opened the folder where the sub-folders for the feature will be created.
So I was able to see at which action the folders are created.
It definitelly happens when using backspace key!
Sometime it happens then the last character has been deleted from the name field and sometimes it happens earlier.
    Problem:
    =======
I have created an SR on metalink for this but unfortunatelly the support engineer is not able to reproduce the isse on his machine.
So I installed Jdev on a new machine and on this new machine I also could NOT reproduce the isse.
On my own machine I can still reproduce the issue.
What I have done so far:
    =================
    - I have already re-installed Jdev on my own machine from scratch (deleted all existing Jdev files and folders).
    - Restarted my computer
    - I use the standard JDK shipped with Jdev 11.1.2.3.0.
    - created several new test applications with Jdev. In each application I can reproduce the issue.
Maybe someone else already has noticed similar issues?
Does someone has any ideas what may be wrong on my Jdev installation?
    regards
    Peter

  • How to move Portal application to 309

I have a Portal 3.0.8 application and a fresh install of Portal 3.0.9 on another server. How can I move the application from 3.0.8 to 3.0.9 without having to upgrade the existing 3.0.8 application?
    Thank You.

If you are moving an application between portal installations, both of the portal installations must be at the same version of Oracle9iAS Portal.
So, in your case, you'll need to upgrade your 3.0.8 "development" installation to Portal 3.0.9, before trying to move your application to your existing Portal 3.0.9 "target" environment. Do that, or if your application is small, just rebuild it on your 3.0.9 environment.

  • How to deploy mobile application into app store

i have developed one mobile  application and i want upload to store as an app

    Hi,
I'm not sure is your question relating to APEX?
With APEX you (normally) create mobile web applications and that is not same as native mobile app.
I do not know, but this might help

  • Optimizing Flex Mobile Applications(not Games)

I have now been developing aplications for Mobile devices using Flex framework for quite a  while and published 3-4 apps to marketplaces. But if we see the performance of the AIR apps as compared to the Native ones, its still not that much smooth.
Any idea how I can optimize the Flex applications? There are resources avaialable for optimizing games but in case of Apps it is something different. The issues are like, buttons are not sometimes that much responsive to touch events, the screen transitions are not that smooth etc.
Also I would like to know how to create Apps using only ActionScript as I guess they might be smoother as compared to the Flex version. But if it is created using AS3 only, how to best manage the screens so that they don't take up too much memory and give native like performance.

You can't achieve native performance in most situations. Doing anything ARM/Flash-centric you will always find spark native components are slower than their native counterparts. Even hand-coding them (e.g. blitting) will get you no more performance, just more lines of code and more headaches.
    This should be obvious.
Aside that you need to weigh in that the code base you build for your app can mostly be used to output an app for several other targets (if you speak XCode). AIR for IOS, Android and Blackberry. That's both phones and tablets. Also Desktop Mac OSX and Windows as well as the Web (without AIR).
So if you want native performance, be prepared to build your app from scratch several times. The performance loss of going the Adobe route gives you the flexibility of exporting your app to multiple targets. That justifies the so-called "boggy" performance for me and my multi-billion dollar clients.

  • Can I move my Application Support & Audio folders to an external drive?

Having installed Final Cut Studio 2 on my 15" MacBook Pro (120GB HD) I find two monstrous folders when running Omni Disk Sweeper - in Library/Application Support/ the top 2 folders are: 16.2GB for Final Cut Studio and 10.9GB for LiveType and in Library/Audio I have a 30.9GB folder Apple Loops.
Can I move these assets to an external drive and free up space on my laptop without compromising Final Cut or other programmes?
With these massive archives, I find I'm always struggling to keep 10GB free on my machine.
Be most grateful for any suggestions?

You should be able to move things like the livetype templates and the apple loops to another drive. Do some searching here (and perhaps in the manuals) to find out the details. I know this has been the subject of previous threads. As far as the apple loops go, if you're not using them in either soundtrack pro or garage band, you can definitely just delete them.

  • How to deploy mobile application

    Hello folks...
A few quick basic question... How do you start on deployment of mobile platform for SAP...
What are the hardware and software requirements... what is the process...
    Can someone help...???
    Regards,
    Harshal

    Hi Harshal,
If you are trying consume SAP backend data on mobile device, below are the setups needed.
    1. SUP2.1 server installed.
    2. Relay server
    3. SAP Netweaver Gateway 2.0
    Connectivity would be like Gateway<> SUP<>Relay Server<-->Device
Once you have the above setup ready, you need to do the below configurations.
    1. Configure releay server in SCC.
    2. Create security configuration in SCC.
    3. Create application connection in SCC providing Gateway Service Doc/Proxy URL.
    4. Register the application and start using it with SAP backend.
Once you download and install the app, you need to register them with SUP. Applications will have a registration page asking you the details like SUP server Host/Port,Company ID, User,Security Configuration, Gateway User/Password etc..
Apllications will be identified at SCC using the APPID. Every app is having a unique predefined APPID. You need to create a new application connection in your SCC with this APPID.
User authorization will be based on the registration type choosen.
    1. If Manual registration is choosen, then you need to create a User in SCC with some activation code. During registration, the user and activation code sent from application is compared against this.
    2. If you choose SSO, the user is vaildated by a ticket issuing system.

  • How to move Aperture Application back to computer, but keep Library on External HD?

Many thanks in advance for your attention.
    1. As my Aperture Library started out of the gate large, I began by putting both the Aperture Application and all of the Library on an External Hard Drive.
    2. How do I move the Aperture Application back to my computer, but leave all the Library (and its photos, contents, etc.) on the External Hard Drive?
    3. I tried opening a new Aperture Library on my computer and then attached my External Hard Drive.  I tried clicking that I wanted to keep all the data on the Eternal Hard Drive (presumably this would just transfer the Reference files to my computer - but leave the 100s of GB of photos and data on the External Hard Drive). But the Import button remains greyed out. It is like the Aperture Application on my computer sees another Aperture Application and Library on the External Hard Drive. One Library is open (on computer), so it can't access photos in 2nd Library - (External Drive). But if I open up External Drive Library, then I can't import in the direction I want.
    4. I don't want to import One Project. I am trying to now have my Aperture App and Reference files on computer, while keeping all my photos, etc. on External drive.
    5. One more question as I have read and heard it both ways. Some people say - One Aperture Library for all photos is the best way. That is the point of it. To organize all your photos.
    6. Others say - One library is absurd. As it grows and grows, it slows down and gets sluggish. Better to have multiple (smaller) libraries.

Thanks for this link as well.
This person seems to want to illustrate that you can have multiple Libraries, which you can.  The first example given is a good one: one Library for professional work (I was paid to make these, and I sell them), and one Library for, as the author states, "snapshots of family and friends".  The second example is suspect.  That is the author's Library for his Aikido club.  This seems set up simply so that he can show a third Library.  The Library does no appear to be used much, and is very small.  There is no reason such a Library shouldn't be either in his Professional Library (I get paid to take shots of my Aikido club) or in his personal Library (my Aikido friends).
I put both this person and the other person to whose video you linked in the category of helpful people who have knowledge but not much experience.  (And let me here acknowledge that I tend to overstate my case: I'm happy to have my experience improved -- but I didn't see anything in either citation that did that.)
A year ago I stated my general rules for creating Libraries.  I stick by them today:
    My rules-of-thumb are:
    •  One Library for each photographer or group of functionally identical photographers (a company that shoots weddings, for example) when the author/copyright-holder of the image is important.
    •  Separate Libraries for "authorless" images of a specific category (I keep a Library of paintings and drawings; who made the photographs is of no interest).
    •  Separate Libraries for items which need to be handled securely (medical documentation, for example)

  • How to move email in bulk to folders on my hard drive

I'm a new Mac user and imported substantial numbers of email from my PC. I've also been adding to them at the rate of about 20/day. Although I have created a number of dedicated folders in Apple Mail to keep them organized, I would like to move the entire contents (or most) of the email from some of those folders to folders on my hard drive, since I want to retain them but don't need them quickly available to me right now.
I've tried the old drag 'n drop, which doesn't seem to work. Anybody know how to do this?
    Thanks

How best to archive emails likely has many answers. I don't know the best approach. All I do is create addtional mailboxes or folders within Apple Mail. I have never yet attempted or needed to move the emails out of Apple Mail to some other location on my HD.
Perhaps this discussion thread can point you toward some other options:

  • How to move between applications in Mission Control using non-english keyboard?

I have recently started using MC and really like it. I prefer doing as much navigation as possible from the keyboard.
I can do most of the things I want to with MC but I have not been able to find out how to switch between open applcations on the selected Desktop while in MC.
I have tried searching for a solution online without success. To begin with it would be great if it is at all possible but preferably, it would be something that could be configured by me in System Preferences/Keyboard.
I would think that other people would want to do somehting similar so hopefully there is a solution.
    Thanks in advance,

Hold down the cmd (⌘) key and briefly press the tab key (⇥) then use the left/right arrow keys to select the application you wish to switch to.  When done release the cmd key.

Coming form the iPhone to Nokia I find it difficult to move messages from inbox to another folder which I have created. Moreover, I cannot create a new folder on my Nokia n97 mini. Please tell me if there is a way to do this. Thanks in advance!

Moving email messages to another file location is not supported. But I don't see a need for it. Creating folders as part of Messaging function is still the same routine, go to My Folders.
