How to move music files within "Gallery"

I have music files in "Tracks" and in "Sound clips", how do I move those in "Sound clips" to "Tracks"? I didn't see any options which enable me to do that.
Also all my music files are in memory card's "Sound clip" "digital" folder, so why does some files goes to clips and some goes to tracks?
For your information, the files that are in sound clips are wav, the ones goes to tracks are mp3s.
I need to have this fixed because music player/music library don't recognize the music in gallery's sound clips folder (wav).
Thanks for any help.Message Edited by tom2517 on 18-Jul-200709:20 AM

You need to install iTunes in your PC.
In iTunes under the File menu choose Add to Library and select the songs you want to add to iTunes. When iTunes is done adding the files, sync your iPhone with iTunes on your PC.

How do I move music files from the startup disc to iTunes in the other internal hard disk os 10.5.8?
The music I want to move was in iTunes but is now just files. I had to reinstall a new iTunes and lost all my old music.
    Thank you!

That article is about using your iPod as an external hard drive, to move files from one computer to another computer.  It is not related to your question.
You can't use iTunes to move song files from iPod to computer, except for songs you purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download purchases).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can move song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your current computer, add them to that computer's iTunes library by dragging the files (or folder containing the files) to the iTunes window.  After confirming everything is there (and fixing the data issue you mentioned) you can sync the iPod.  You may want to do a Restore on the iPod, if it might have a data corruption issue, which will erase the iPod's hard drive, re-install the latest software, and set it to defautl settings.

    File transfer site
Take your pick. You have several choices. The easiest, if your computers are networked, would be to drag and drop between the computers. Otherwise copying the files to a thumb drive or DVD then taking the thumb drive or DVD to the other computer is probably easiest. Although you could just upload the files to an online file transer site then download them to the other computer.

  • How to move music to correct user

One child downloaded Dad's CD's into child's user. Child later received his own mini. Have a total of 5 users and 3 have ipods so far.

    Hello,
I've gone over this page several times - It doesn't
indicate how to move music to another user. For
instance, would I copy the itunes folder to the
rightful user, or would I click File and Add a Folder
    to the rightful user?
    THANKS!
Doesn't really make any difference. If the user has access to the files where they are, then you can just add them to iTunes. If not, you can copy them to that user or give him access.
Simplest way is to just put all the files in one location on the computer where everybody will have access to them. Saves space and such. Then change each user's iTunes "Library Location" so that when they rip CD's, the music is put in that single location.
Every user has his own "library", but the library is more like a link to the files, not the files themselves. Follow me?

  • How to move all files to the top level folder?

I want to move all files within a particular folder -- and all files in all sub folders -- to the top level. i.e. I want to collapse the folder structure to just one folder. Assume that there are no files with the same name.
    *Method 1*
My first thought was to use Find:
    1. Limit Find to the particular folder.
    2. Find all files in the folder with Size > 0.
    3. Switch to List view. All files are listed.
    4. Select all files and drag to the top folder
    5. Delete all sub folders manually.
Problem: Pages files are not found, and maybe others aren't.
This is a simple method and I'd like to stick with it.
    *QUES 1*
What condition should I set within Find so that I can be guaranteed of finding all files?
    *Method 2*
It was suggested in another thread that I use Terminal to move all files to the top level, but I couldn't get it to work. And there was a problem with files that consist of bundles.
    *QUES 2*
What is the easiest way to consolidate all files within a folder to the top level -- assume no duplicate names -- and at the same time remove all sub folders?

Thanks for the suggestion of EasyFind.
To find all files in a certain folder I typed in *[a-z 0-9] as a Boolean search (this thread won't let me post the exact characters required by EasyFind). That should cover every file I've ever named. EasyFind came back with "11719found/12316done".
Any idea what the missing 500 files would be? I'm hoping they are files that I don't need to know about (invisible files, system files and so on).

  • How to transfer music files on iPad to new Macbook Pro

I just got my new MacBook Pro and I am learning some of the features it has to offer but I have not figured out how to transfer music files from my iPad3 to the new laptop. Is there a way to do that or am I out of luck?

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Can't move image files within Bridge

I recently bought an iMac and got the CS5 license transferred over to the Mac platform. Got CS5 loaded and everything works except for one critical thing: I can no longer move image files within Bridge. When I do the right click on an image file to select that command, the command is "grey" and won't let me to choose it.  So I am forced to rearrange my image files through the Mac's Finder/Pictures feature.  Drag and drop doesn't work either.  I have looked everywhere for a setting that would allow movement of files to different folders and rearrangement within Bridge, and can't find one.  I have Bridge set as my default for photos and not the lame iPhoto program on Macs.  I previously was to be able to freely use Bridge for organizing my photos on a PC and now sorely disappointed that I can't do this with my new iMac.

I previously was to be able to freely use Bridge for organizing my photos on a PC and now sorely disappointed that I can't do this with my new iMac.
No need for disappointment because you can move all files freely within Bridge.
First check if you have read and write permissions for your files/folders/disk (try move the files using finder) If Finder allows you to drag the files to the location you previously wanted in Bridge then the problem lies in Bridge.
First select a file and with right mouse click menu choose purge cache for selection. If the problem is gone you could do so for the whole folder using menu tools/cache/purge cache for folder while having Bridge pointed to that folder.
If not restart bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences.
    could you report back?

How to move PDF file from Spool to Application Server?
Cannot use RSTXPDFT4 because that converts OTF to PDF and the file is already PDF.
RSTXPDFT5 doesn't work. It picks the file up and assigns it a 'text' type and outputs a 1 line txt (1kb in size) on the server with the spool number in it!
The program which outputs the file to the spool, in the first place, uses adobe forms and outputs to a printer of type PDF.

Just drag the file from the Download folder to the folder of your choice in Finder. If you are using Safari you can designate a new default download destination in Safari>Preferences>General tab, 'Save Downloads to...'. Other browsers should have a similar option in their preferences.

  • How to move all files but X to Y

It doesn't really matter if it's in the terminal or if it's a applescript but I need to know how to:
Move all files in a dictionary but a few named.

    Could you pleas explain more?
If you do not understand the shell while loop, it is possible that using shell commands is a bit more dangerous than you might want to try.
    The explanation:
    ls -a | grep -v "X" | while read file
    do
        mv "$file" "Y/"
    done
ls -a will list all the files in the current working directory (including the invisible files that start with a leading period.  Thinking about this, maybe you do not want to include -a.  You could cd /path/to/the/desired/directory as a way to set your current working directory as the directory you wish to move things from
    cd "/path/of/the/from/directory"
    ls | grep -v "X" | while read file
    do
        mv "$file" "Y/"
    done
The ls command's output is piped (the vertical bar | ) into the grep command (general regular expression parser).  The -v option tells grep to throw away any lines (filenames) that match the regular expression "X".  So if the regular expression X matches all the files you do not want to move, the filenames send to the next pipe will be the files you wish to move.
The while loop will read the filenames grep has selected and invoke the mv (move) command for each file selected by grep and move them to the destination directory Y
The bigest risk is that you will execute this in the wrong directory and move the files that you need somewhere else.  OR WORSE, if "Y" is NOT a directory, and you DO NOT put a trailing / the mv could move easy file to the destination file, deleting the previous file for each file moved, so effectively deleting every file in the directory except the last one.
This is why I said if you do not understand what is going on with the shell commands, you could do damage to your system.
ls could have the /path/of/the/from/directory instead of using the cd command.  The grep command could be replaced with egrep that allows using alternate matching strings:
    ls /path/of/the/from/directory | egrep -v "abc.txt|def.jpg|xyz.mp3|etc..." | while read file
    do
mv "$file" "/path/to/the/destination/directory/"  # notice the trailing slash for safety
    done
Good luck.  I hope you do not destroy your system

how to add music files from other external hard drives??

Not sure what you are trying to achieve.. You can copy the files to anywhere you like.. but the TC is a backup target for Time Machine.. it is not a media server.. it is totally useless copying your files to the TC as they will not be backed up from there.. TC has no built in backup and TM cannot backup network drives.
