How to move my palm to another laptop

I've recently bought a new laptop that has Windows 8.1 and I want to put my Palm Tungsten e on to it. Previously it has been on Windows 7 on my old laptop (it's still on there at the moment)
I'm not very good on computers so can anyone give me a step by step way to do it please.
Thank you Tina

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
As you know, it's impossible to attach an older Palm device to a 64bit system without installing the Aceeca drivers we have in our sticky post here.
Which version of Palm Desktop have you installed on the Win8 machine?
The T|E may require the installation of another program to make it work correctly with Palm Desktop 6.2.2 - PalmHotsyncSetup from pimlicosoftware.com.
This post might be helpful.

Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position object from picture B.
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer

  • How to move a window to another, existing space that already has windows

NOT happy with the new Mission Control.  Give me back spaces!
I have been using virtual desktops (VDT) for years and I often work 14 to 18 hours a day on my mac..
I can reorder my spaces in MC but that seems to be about all I can do and it really is ******* me off.
I need to be able to drag a single window from 1 space to another space where I already have another application running. This was TRIVIAL in SPACES but seems impossible in MC.
example:  I have a text file of notes in vi in one VDT and in another I have a browser window open to a customer location where I need to use or add to those notes with some complexity. I want to move that notes window from the VDT that it is in (because there are other apps there) to the current VDT so that I can easily use the notes and the browser together. I do NOT want to have to make the stupid vi window in ALL spaces. How do I do this?
another example: I have a browser with multiple tabs and I want to move ONE of them to another VDT. I can pull the tab to make another window.. But I can't move just that tab to another VDT!! How can I do that?
Please please PLEASE fix this in Mountain Lion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to start from the Desktop where the window is currently living to move it to another Desktop.
If you are using Safari in Full Screen, that screen is its own desktop and can't be moved to another desktop. If you are not in Full screen, go to the desktop that hosts the window and drag it to another Desktop in MC.

  • USB dead on laptop - how do I migrate itunes to another laptop?

Hi everyone. I have an ipod mini and the laptop (IBM R40) that I originally istalled itunes on and which holds all my music has "lost" all USB connections so it will not see my ipod. Being an old laptop, it has no DVDRW. How do I get my music out of my ipod onto another machine so I can continue to add to my ipod?
At the moment I can't figure out how to do this - have not manged to buy from itunes nor copy a CD to the ipod.
Hope you can help - thanks

Connect your iPod to your other computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How to move a database to another server

Hi - I am new to Oracle and am used to SQL Server. In SQL Server there was a DETACH and ATTACH DATABASE command that would allow you to make a copy of a database and all structures including triggers, procedures, indexes etc. Make a copy and reattach the database on the new server. I assume that the same is possible in Oracle but I can't seem to find the equivilent command(s). So how does one move a database? I take it that the SQL Server equivilent to database is in Oracle called a schema? Other than creating a sql script for each object, is there a overall process to move my application?

You could do one of the following:
    1) Create a full export, create a another database with a script or DBCA, create the appropriate sized tablespaces, import to the new database.
    2) If you are copying to the same OS you could shutdown the database, copy all the datafiles, logfiles, control files, etc. to the appropriate locations, rename the datafiles, control files, etc. as needed, and open the database.
    3) Use RMAN to duplicate the database if it has been backed up using the RMAN utility.
    4) If you already have a backup of all the datafiles, logfiles, control files, etc. from a backup you could copy those to the appropriate locations, rename the files as needed, and open the database.
I would suggest changing the database name. I can go into more detail on any of these if needed.

  • How to move ONE account to another Mac

    Greetings!
My wife and I have separate email accounts, running Mail, on my PowerBook. I need to go away for some weeks. What is the best way of moving her account/mailboxes/mail history to the kids' Mac while I am away? And then, of course, move it all back again?

Not so easy, if you have separate email accounts, btu lumped them into one instance of mail.
Do you use IMAP - e.g.: .mac or another IMAP account? If so, just set up the account on another computer and it will automatically synchronize. That's why I recomend people pay for 3rd party IMAP, rather than POP email accounts.
If not, then you could simply set up the account on the other machine and use it. Your history and address book would nto be present, but it would work ok. You could then copy all the emails sent and received while you are gone back to the original.
Moving (copy-ing) the entire Library/Mail folder, unfortunately, would move all of YOUR email too, and over-write the settings on the other machine. So I would not do that unless its essentially an unused machine.
Maybe someone else has a better idea.
If this happens a lot, consider buying an IMAP account. Several good companies sell them for $20/yr.

  • How to move all data to another drive?

I've just upgraded to Tiger and simultaneously installed two internal Seagate 325GB drives in mirror RAID configuration. I plan to keep the original 80GB drive for OSX and applications only, and move all documents, photos and music to RAID. But I'm not sure how to link the applications (iPhoto, iTunes, Word, Entourage etc) so they know where to find existing data and where to save new data. I can't find specific instructions anywhere. Could someone walk me through the steps?

Allan: I do appreciate your spending so much time to try to make sure I understand your real concerns about RAID as a backup. Since first questioning your explanation I have re-read most of the discussion threads on the topic, and noted that over the years, you have been passionately warning about mirrored RAID arrays for private and amateur people like me, on the perfectly reasonable grounds that we are not fully protected. I also noted that you are/were an IBM IT professional and bring that experience and viewpoint to the discussion. I suggest that explains our different perspectives. For the last five years I have been running without hard drive backup of any kind; relying on burning my most important data - photos and movies - to disk, until I could figure out the best way to use my machine's capabilities. Heeding warnings of the inevitabile end of my one internal drive, I decided to install twin drives in the available bays and configure them in a mirrored RAID to insure against main drive failure. That is my priority. In 26 years use of PCs and Macs, I have not found accidental deletion, application quits or keyboard mistakes to have been a noticeable, let alone significant problem. (I did lose a whole chapter of a book once, but that was because I forgot to enable Auto-save. Neither RAID nor backup would have protected against that!) I did also notice that in the forum discussions, nobody could report problems with their RAID setups or with recovery in the case of a failed drive. (I know, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence but at least there doesn't seem to be a great problem). So for a home user, I've concluded that the RAID setup is both the most appropriate for my needs, and the best value for money. I guess we'll have to disagree, but thank you for explaining your point of view. I do hope that our discussions has set out the pros and cons of RAIDs clearly, for the benefit of other readers.
