How to move original images to another datastore?

Hello,
I have all my original images on a USB external drive. I want to move these images to a new harddisk but I do not know how to update my libraries. I know how to manually set the new path for each images, but I want A3 to make it automatically as I have thousand of RAW files.

Select target images that you want to move the masters for and use - File->Relocate Masters.

How to move a window to another, existing space that already has windows

NOT happy with the new Mission Control. Give me back spaces!
I have been using virtual desktops (VDT) for years and I often work 14 to 18 hours a day on my mac..
I can reorder my spaces in MC but that seems to be about all I can do and it really is ******* me off.
I need to be able to drag a single window from 1 space to another space where I already have another application running. This was TRIVIAL in SPACES but seems impossible in MC.
example: I have a text file of notes in vi in one VDT and in another I have a browser window open to a customer location where I need to use or add to those notes with some complexity. I want to move that notes window from the VDT that it is in (because there are other apps there) to the current VDT so that I can easily use the notes and the browser together. I do NOT want to have to make the stupid vi window in ALL spaces. How do I do this?
another example: I have a browser with multiple tabs and I want to move ONE of them to another VDT. I can pull the tab to make another window.. But I can't move just that tab to another VDT!! How can I do that?

You have to start from the Desktop where the window is currently living to move it to another Desktop.
If you are using Safari in Full Screen, that screen is its own desktop and can't be moved to another desktop. If you are not in Full screen, go to the desktop that hosts the window and drag it to another Desktop in MC.

How to move referenced images to a new Hard Drive

All my Aperture referenced images (about 80.000) are stored at a 300gb firewire HD. That's not enough and I plan to move all my photos to a new HD, 1Tb probably.
I understand that I can't move the images directly from one drive to another. So what's the easiest and painless way to upgrade and still maintain the integrity of Aperture Library ?

Well, that's exactly what you can (and should) do. Then use the "Manage Referenced Files..." command.

I suggest to watch online tutorial videos. Check Adobe TV for a first start.
About your question: Open both images in PS, then switch to the one you want to add, press Ctrl+A (selects everything), press Ctrl+C (copy everything in the layer), assuming your image only has one layer, then this is OK. Then switch to the other image and press Ctrl+V to paste. PS will create a new layer and paste the image 1:1.
Alternatively, open only the target image and place the other image per drag 'n drop in the target image, which will let PS make it a smart object (not 1:1, but can be resized).
Then do whatever you want with the layer of the added image.

I just started learning how to script and I'm already here with a problem.
At work I sometimes need to place some PDF files (+/- 30 pages) into an Indesign document for further work. So now I wanted to write a script that moves the (already placed) PDFs to x=0; y=0 on every Page.
And here's the problem: The script isn't moving the PDFs, it only moves the image frames.

How to exchange one image for another with a click

I am brand new to actionscript, so bear with me! I need to create an interactive web-based system which takes the user through steps to assemble something. One of the pages will have images of the tools needed. I want the user to be able to 'tick' off each tool, so that when they click on the image of a specific tool it is replaced by the image faded out and a big red tick over it. essentially it is replacing one image for another when it is clicked on.
any ideas on the actionscript? Sorry i know this must be basic stuff for you!

your tool images should be converted to movieclips and given instance names and you should create a red tick movieclip that you assign a class, say RedTick. you can then use:

How to move all images in a version set

I have found need to re-arrange some of the pictures in my Organizer (PSE 3.01, Windows). I have found that if I move an image that is the top of a version set, only that top image is moved. All the older versions remain in the old folder.
Of course one can get around this by opening the version set and moving all the pictures from there, but I was moving a bunch of images, some of them version sets. This meant that I had to treat all the version sets a bit different. Would have been nice if everything went as a package to the new destination folder.
Any suggestions?

Sorry Larry, but I also found that in PSE 3.0.1 the only thing that worked for me was to expand each version set (one at a time), select all of the photos in that version set and do the Move.
Before starting my Moves, I had done a test (with an insignficant photo version set) of moving with Windows Explorer and then doing Reconnect. My moves were to a different physical hard drive and Reconnect was not automatically finding the new location. So I decided that expanding each of the version sets was the lesser evil for moving and updating the Catalog.

Edit In external editors moves original image and returns edited image to end of filmstrip

When I edit an image from Lightroom 5.7 in an external editor such as Photoshop or Portraiture I want the original image to keep its place in the filmstrip and I want the returned edited image to join it in a stack at that location. Instead, the original image gets moved to the end of the filmstrip and the edited one is returned to stack with it at the end of the filmstrip.
Upon Import I don't know if my images are sorted by filename or time created because both are in the same order coming from the camera.

LR 5.7 CC, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Have a look at the toolbar above the film strip. Ensure the sort order is set to capture time and not edit time.
Click the tiny triangle symbols to see all the sort options.
If the toolbar is not immediately visible press the T key once or twice to toggle on/off. The drop down arrow to the far right of the toolbar lets you choose what items are shown.

Same as you would do it in your operating system.
You select multiple images (click, ctrl-click, ctrl-click, etc., or click on one image and then shift-click on another image to select the entire sequence) and then drag.
Of course, you might also want to simplify your life and develop a workflow where you don't have to move photos from here to there by using keywords instead of folders to organize.

How to move ONE account to another Mac

My wife and I have separate email accounts, running Mail, on my PowerBook. I need to go away for some weeks. What is the best way of moving her account/mailboxes/mail history to the kids' Mac while I am away? And then, of course, move it all back again?

Not so easy, if you have separate email accounts, btu lumped them into one instance of mail.
Do you use IMAP - e.g.: .mac or another IMAP account? If so, just set up the account on another computer and it will automatically synchronize. That's why I recomend people pay for 3rd party IMAP, rather than POP email accounts.
If not, then you could simply set up the account on the other machine and use it. Your history and address book would nto be present, but it would work ok. You could then copy all the emails sent and received while you are gone back to the original.
Moving (copy-ing) the entire Library/Mail folder, unfortunately, would move all of YOUR email too, and over-write the settings on the other machine. So I would not do that unless its essentially an unused machine.
Maybe someone else has a better idea.
If this happens a lot, consider buying an IMAP account. Several good companies sell them for $20/yr.
