How to Move Photo Library for Elements Organizer?

Using Elements 12 on Mac. For Organizer where I currently have built a catalog, I have my photos on a portable drive. I would like to move my photos to my hard drive. How can I do that enmasse, so I don't have to move folder by folder? Thanks  Dave

It's important to understand that if you move files or folders from the Organizer menus, the catalog will be updated (there will be no disconnected files).
Moving everything is a drastic change, so that I would personnally do a full backup first.
Simply use the tree  'Folders' view (not the flat 'My folders' view) in the left panel.
Select the upper level folder of your folder tree and drag and drop where you want, even if it is another drive.
Just a note about the visibility of the other drive: you may have to use the option to show all folders (right click or Mac equivalent) on the master folder you want to attach the library to.
Another solution would be to backup and restore on your main drive in a custom folder.
Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later

  • How does iCloud Photo Library and Optimize iPhone Storage Work?

Even Apple Phone support can't answer these questions:
How does iCloud Photo Library (Beta) from yesterday's 8.1 update with Optimize iPhone Storage turned on work? (I'm on an iPhone 6)
It only stores your iPhone/iPad versions on your device, which is amazing. Why would you need anything else? It freed up around 8-10GB of space on my device which is amazing. But how does it work when you use it?
When you email it seems to ask you, when sending what size you want to send like it's always done. It gives you the original 2.4MB version. This works like I'd imagine and when I received the test email the photo was correct. In this case I assume it hits iCloud and sends it from there, not your actual device. (Like it doesn't re-download it to email it). Correct?
When posting to Facebook, does it do this same thing? Or is this something Facebook has to build into their iOS app in an update? Or does it just work? Correct?
When posting to Instagram, does it grab the right version. Obviously the phone optimized version should be fine, but when viewing on a Desktop version of Instagram at instagram.com, will it show the right version?
Sometimes I backup photos using Image Capture on the Mac. If I did that right now, would it only grab the iPhone versions? Obviously I can just test it but it'd be amazing if someone who knows these things could explain all of these use cases.
Do you need to be on
In closing it's more of how does this work? Does it work? Why wouldn't you want to use this feature if it saved space and made more sense? I guess I just would love some real clarity since not even the blogs are explaining how it works in every application.
In closing part 2. It does seem to work really well, it's just those fringe cases. I just viewed all my photos on https://beta.icloud.com/#photos and they're all there, easy download of the high res, delete, it deletes from my camera roll on my phone, it's amazing, it works, it's magic. Just tell me what issues there are with storing only low res iPhone on my device and if there are none, game on!
    Thanks!

And of those 4.3GB of backup, my Photo Library is 1.4GB.
So my question is, how do I prevent my Photo Library from being backed up to the cloud, since I already have a backup of it everytime I connect to iPhoto and it copies all those photos to my mac?
I don't know, sorry. It's supposed to work alongside Photos & iCloud, so that photos are stored only once. When it doesn't work you have a couple of options as I see it –
Delete the old backups on iCloud to hopefully start over (I don't like deleting the only backup of anything).
Forget about iCloud backups & use iTunes to backup instead, it might not be suitable if you have no computer etc.
    Buy more storage for iCloud.
I don't use iCloud backup, it bemuses me with issues like this, there is no easy way to resolve when it fails.
And one more question while we are at it...can I erase iphoto from my computer now that I have the new Photos app?
That is up to you. If you are happy you do not need it & have a backup of it go ahead & remove it. You can re-download it from the app store if it is already in your Mac App store account.

  • In Lightroom mobile how can move photos within the collection????

In Lightroom mobile how can move photos within the collection????

What you can do is to move (or copy) a photo form one collection to another. This can be triggered via the top right app menu item from grid view. Same menu is available when you open up an image for editing. Hope that helps. -Guido

  • Crash report for elements organizer

I have a problem with photoshop elements 8 when I click on slideshow I get a crash report for Elements organizer. " Adobe has detected that the application elements organizer has unexpectedly quit".  That't it I have tried different trouble shooting things but nothing has worked so far.  I have windows xp.  Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

PSE 8 crashes on me too. I'm running XP SP3. I open up PSE 8 in the Organize mode with a small (2 pictures) test catalog and even if I don't do anything else, PSE 8 will crash in about 60 seconds with this error message: "Adobe has detected that the application Elements Organizer has unexpectedly quit". I've submitted about a dozen crash reports. I went through a bunch of Adobe's "knowledge base" articles trying to address this problem; I even re-installed PSE 8 -- all to no avail. The version on PSE 8 is "8.0.0.0". I'm guessing there's a bug in the Windows version of PSE 8 and Adobe needs to issue a patch to fix it. Let's see how long it takes Adobe to respond.
EDIT: The fix for the above problem was to disable the "Edit > Preferences > Auto-Analyzer Option > Recognize People Automatically" option. I found this fix in this Adobe forum: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2287072#2287072

  • Preparing my photo library for the beta Photos is taking the better part of a week. Is this normal?

The process of "preparing" my photo library for the beta Photos is taking the better part of a week. Is this normal?  I have around 2000 photos the iPhoto library I am uploading.

How are you preparing the library?  The only thing I would do to prepare for converting to Photos once it's released would be the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #1, Repair Permissions.
    3 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.
Do this just prior to launching Photos for the first time.

  • How to Move iTunes Library BACK to the Hard Drive

Almost every single support topic/YouTube video shows how to move the library to an external drive.  I did that... about a year ago. I recall it being very easy. I just moved, changed the location and that was that.  I want to give my external drive to my friend, though... and want to to move all the content back to the original location on my hard drive... but I'm not sure how/where.  What I THINK I'm supposed to do is copy the music folder back to ITunes Media\Music.
    Ideas?
    Thanks

In addition to wanting to know how to move photos around on ipad , i also want to know how to delete photos

Photos that were synced from your computer can't be deleted directly on the iPad - they are deleted by moving them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing, and they should then be removed from the iPad.
You also can't alter the order of photos in the Photos app, the sorting needs to be done on your computer prior to syncing : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4221

  • How to move result row for hierarchical character bellow corresponding rows

    Hi expert,
in my query , I set a hierarchy for a character in row. but it result row is above rows, however I set all result row bellow corresponding rows in query property. also all other result rows display bellow corresponding rows. please tell me how to move result row for hierarchical character bellow corresponding rows.
    Many Thanks,

    Hi Yasinn,
you are right and you can make it even shorter:
    LOOP AT ITAB.
      Collect ITAB Into ITAB2.
    EndLoop .
It will work much faster using field-symbols:
    field-symbols:
      <itab> like line of itab.
    LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <itab>.
      Collect <itab> Into ITAB2.
    EndLoop .
BTW: Kishore Babu Gummadi's suggestion about the field catalog does not make any sense, not regarding your question and not regarding a field catalog derived from DDIC fields: What is the DDIC defined output length of ekbe-wrbtr?
    Regards,

  • Photoshop elements 8 for Mac - how to move photos (events) from iphoto to pse

I have figured out how to move one  photo over through opening a file.  But I can't move a full event or album from iphoto.  Ive tried going to bridge but when i click on the iphoto folder, it takes me into my iphoto and I'm not sure what do then, no buttons or anything that seems to connect to PSE.  Any help would be appreciated!  I wish Adobe supported this product better for Mac users.  Maybe they read these discussions?

    Hi,
Are you opening iPhoto files from within Photoshop Elements? You can open all the files in an iPhoto event into PSE8 through a single click.
In Photoshop Elements, go to File menu > Open. In the browser window that appears, click Photos under Media in the sidebar. Now, you should be able to see iPhoto with all its events. When you click on an event and "Open" it, you should get all the photos of that event in the project bin.
Is this the problem being asked?
    Thanks.
