How to move sql server DB to oracle and DB2 to oracle

Hi ,
I would like to like to know what is the work involved when
i want to retire sql server database and move to oracle and db2 to oracle.
Please let me know the tools used for this purpose or wha should be done actually.
Thanks in advance

For the SQL Server migration you could use the SQL Developer utility. More details can be found at:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/index-084442.html
This SQL Developer based migration utility also supports DB2 migrations when the Db2 database is a UDB DB2 V7, V8 or V9 and if it is running on LUW. For ALL other DB2 databases no actual migration utility is available. Possible alternatives might be Golden Gate, Oracle Database Gateway or the SQL*Loader utility.

  • How to synchronize Sql Server when Oracle table has trigger

    Hi
I have a trigger which will update/insert the data into a Oracle table.
I have an interface which normally moves the data from Oracle table to SQL Server table.
Is there any way which will update/insert the data into SQL Server table whenever any trigger fires on Oracle table.
    Thanks,
    Ganesh

ODI's CDC capabilities can be used to propogate changes from Oracle to SQL Server. If your trigger inserts/updates on an oracle table, then ODI's CDC should pick that up. If you have a scenario which does a WaitForLogData on your Oracle table, it can kick off the interface to transfer the journal data whenever that happens.

  • How to convert SQL Server hierarchical query (CTE) to Oracle?

How to convert SQL Server hierarchical query (CTE) to Oracle?
    WITH cte (col1, col2) AS
    SELECT col1, col2
    FROM dbo.[tb1]
    WHERE col1 = 12
    UNION ALL
    SELECT c.col1, c.col2
    FROM dbo.[tb1] AS c INNER JOIN cte AS p ON c.col2 = p.col1
    DELETE a
FROM dbo.[tb1] AS a INNER JOIN cte AS b
    ON a.col1 = b.col1

    See: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_10002.htm#i2129904
Ah, just spotted it's a delete statement - you won't be able to do it using subquery factoring in Oracle.
I had a go at trying to convert for you, but notice that you reference the cte from inside the cte... I can only assume you have a table called cte too...
    DELETE FROM dbo.tb1
    WHERE col1 = 12
OR col2 IN (SELECT col1 FROM cte)

  • Entity Framework - Code First - Migration - How to access SQL Server and Oracle using the same context?

    Hello,
I use Entity Framework code first approach.
My project is working fine with SQL Server. But, I want to access Oracle too. I want to switch SQL Server and Oracle in run time.
I am able to access Oracle using "Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework.dl" in a new project.
But, Is this possible to access SQL Server and Oracle in the same project.
    Thanks,
    Murugan

This should be possible with a Code-First workflow.  In Code-First the database mapping layer is generated at runtime.

  • MS Project 2010 Server - How to move a single MS Project plan and SharePoint Project site from a PWA server to another PWA server (one at a time)

    MS Project 2010 Server
How to move a single MS Project plan and it's SharePoint project site from a PWA server to another PWA server (one at a time)
I have 2 Project PWA servers, i know how to copy all the databases (Publishing, Draft, Reporting, archive, content) from one SQL server and copy it to the other PWA server so both server can be identical.
I need to only move a single project from a PWA server to another,
Moving the Project plan, actual time data, SharePoint site with all it's content
Is there a 3rd party tool that can be added on to the server to help me move single project plans? to different PWA servers?

  • How to move SQL database from one location to another location i.e. from C' drive to D' drive

Hi, How to move SQL database from one location to another location i.e. from C' drive to D' drive ? please share some link.
    Thanks and Regards, Rangnath Mali

    Hi Rangnath,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to move databased from C drive to D drive.
You can detach Database so that the files become independent, cut and paste the files from source to destination and attach again.
There are two similar posts for your reference:

  • How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012

How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
But if fails. I get the following message text.
Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.
Here is the error message. Thanks.
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
    Restore of database failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTasks)
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a
backup that is compatible with this server. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the

Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

  • How to set SQL Server Login MUST_CHANGE, CHECK_POLICY, CHECK_EXPIRATION all to OFF with T-SQL

How to set SQL Server Login MUST_CHANGE, CHECK_POLICY, CHECK_EXPIRATION all to OFF with T-SQL.  SSMS will not allow me to change policies to OFF. Error: 15128 - The CHECK_POLICY and CHECK_EXPIRATION options cannot be turned OFF when MUST_CHANGE is
on.  I am attempting to change these options in a test environment. Thanks, Richard

It appears you have to change the password first(it could the same password but an alter command needs to be done)

  • How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

The best solution is to create table type and pass the DataTable as table-valued parameter. I have an article on my web site about this:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/arrays-in-sql-2008.html
The full article is a bit of overkill for what you are doing right now, but just the few first pages should get you going.

  • How to find sql server backup was taken under compression mode

    Hello,
How to find SQL server backup was taken under compression mode ? I have disabled the Compress Mode backup setting but I want to make sure the backup is taken without compression.
Is there a script for that?
    Thanks
    JK

I have disabled the Compress Mode backup
That is only a default setting, in backup command you can always overwrite it to a different value.
