  • I have an older version of imovie.  After I change the photos using the Ken Burns effect and save them, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' to change the zoom, the picture appears black and I can't change the zoom?

I have a five year old version of imovie that generally works fine.  However, when I add a photo using the 'Ken Burns' effect then save the movie, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' the picture appears black and I cannot change the zoom.  Any suggestions?

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.
    See here:
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
Let us know how that works for you.

  • When I export a playlist and then open in excel, do whatever sorting I want, I then save the file and reimport into itunes but not all the songs are there. It appears to be from "comma's" in the song name. Any solutions?

I see songs such as "Monday, Monday" or "Paint It, Black" or even the artist name such as "Fireballs, with Jimmy Gilmer" which have comma's in them, being a problem when I try to do the following:
    1. Export a playlist which contains songs which are all there and play fine, but some have comma's in the title such as listed above.
    2. I then open that file in Excel and bring it in as a Tab-delimited file.  Everything lays out fine, and all the songs are thing (including those with comma's).
    3. I then sort the varoius fields I want (which I can't do in i-tunes because i-tunes won't sort it properly), and resave the file as a newly named file, which is also a .txt file.
    4. I then import that playlist into my itunes. It is exactly the same songs that I just had exported but i-tunes says some of the songs can't be found.
I have traced this problem to comma's in the file name of the song such as listed above.  There must be a solution to this either as the file is opened in excel or in how it's saved or some other solution short of having to rename song/artists without using comma's.
    Thanks.

The additional problem is the file name of the song itself.  Even if I were able to delete the commas or replace with a space for example, changing the file name would result in itunes not being able to find the file.  I would have to go through each file (out of about 15,000+ songs) to find any that have titles such as described in this thread and change not only the song and artist in the fields, but changing the mp3 file itself.
I fear that I am really pretty much going to have to start with a list of songs that have no comma and then do a file compare to find those songs with commas and then just physically moving them into a new playlist I'm trying to create, but this is a royal pain as I want to be able to create a variety of playlists based on these chart dates/peak positions.
I'm trying to sort the songs in this manner:  I use different fields in itunes so that I can put the "peak position" of each song based on Billboard charts, as well as the date the peak position was acheived. I use the "comment box" for that.  I use the "grouping" field for my peak position.
So I end up with something like "10/14/1980" in the comment box as the peak position for a song which is in the grouping field, and so forth.  If I try to sort the comments column in itunes for example, it won't sort properly. If I sort the Grouping field, it will bring up all the "1's", but that's followed by "10", 11, ...19, then "2", etc.  This is why I want to export the playlist and sort it as I want, and then reimport the playlist into itunes.
What I'm ultimately trying to achieve is a year-by-year peak position playlist so that I end up with every #1 song (in this case) from, say, January 1st 1980 and then every #1 song in sequential order for the rest of the year falls in line.  I have chart position dates from 1955 through 1999.  I have entered in all the data from Billboard books I own so I can really create some amazing playlists, but these commas are problematic. Had I known this ahead of time I would have made "Monday, Monday" as "Monday Monday" and not included commas, but it's too late for that.
    Any suggestions?

  • How to move all files, and authorisations...

    Hi.
I have been making music on a G4 powerbook for a while, but now i have got an imac G5 20" machine ready and waiting for me.
The powerbook is running 10.3.9 and the imac will be running the latest tiger os.
I need to find out the most painless way of moving all my software (i have a lot of music software (logic pro, audio instruments, each with their own validation codes etc) and i need to work out how to get this over to the other mac without having to move things one by one.
Can it be done, or do i have to do everything one app at a time?
    Many thanks
    David Tobin

You should be able to use the Setup Assistant found in your Utilities folder without a problem.

  • Splitting Files and Insert

    Hi
I am inserting bulk of records to temp tables from flat file using control files and sqlloader. There are million of records in a file. Someone suggested me to split records in the file and insert.
Can anyone suggest an optimum number of records per insert. ie 100,00 / 500,00 / ..

No need to split files, that's just a waste of time.
You could try using the direct loading at the top of your control file....
    OPTIONS (DIRECT=TRUE)
    UNRECOVERABLE
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE *
.Which bypasses all the transaction log and triggers etc. and gets the data in nice and fast. We've use this method to load millions of records in a matter of seconds.

how can i convert 2k resolution dpx files of a movie to DCP and will they be able to open the harddisk and view the files?

AFAIK, this is beyond the capabilities of FCPX/Compressor. This company makes a plug-in, which I have to say I have no experience with. Here is a thread that may give you some other ideas. Good luck.

  • How to erase an app from de Launchpad if I already erased the files and tried to move it to the trash?

How to erase an app from de Launchpad if I already erased the files and tried to move it to the trash?

Erased what files? You say "tried" to move it to the trash... I assume that means that you were not successful?
Removing an app from LaunchPad requires deleting the app. In general, if you're trying to delete an app that was installed from the App Store, simply open the LaunchPad, click and hold on the app icon in the LaunchPad until all the icons start "wiggling," and then click the 'X' at the top left corner of the app's icon. If the app was not installed from the App Store, you need to use whatever uninstaller was provided by the developer of that app.

  • How can I transfer my iTunes Media Library from one PC to another without losing files and making a mess of the file and album structure?

I have imported a number of Café del Mar CD's to iTunes, and iTunes keeps scattering the tunes into several different folders in iTunes Media. It also has trouble finding album information, unless it has been downloaded from iTunes Store. Previous versions of iTunes I have tried didn't have this problem.
I've tried to tidy the files manually in iTunes Media, but that usually results in duplicates, so I stopped messing with it. I actually wouldn't mind iTunes blowing up my albums into a nightmare file structure of hyper categorization in iTunes Media (Album, Album Artist, Artist, etc.) if only it recognised its own mess when I transfer the library from one iTunes library into another.
An example: I downloaded Cafe del Mar - Essential Elements featuring 13 tunes, two of these can be found in the files Cafe del Mar/Cafe del Mar Essential Elements, iTunes also created the folder Cafe del Mar/Cafe del_Mar Essential Elements containing 0 tunes!?! and the rest of the tunes are found under Rue de Soleil in the root folder, indicating ONE of the artists as the criteria for creating a folder of tunes!?!
I am trying with every fiber NOT to hate this program, and would appreciate it if someone could explain to me how I can move an iTunes Media library of aprox 54 gb from my desktop via an external harddisk onto my laptop. I have tried 4 times, and everytime the result varies. Sometime I transfer 3000 files, other times 4000. Which files follow and don't is random. I lose files tranferring to the external harddisk and lose even more files from the external disk to the new library on my Lap. Do I have to transfer song for song or can this genius program actually transfer a larger amount of files without losing half the files and duplicating the rest?
Is there a limit of size or amount of files?

Backup with this User Tip, restore the library to the new computer using the same tool, keep the backup up-to-date in future. Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer need to access protected content on it.
As to your issues with compilations albums select all the tracks, set the Album Artist to Various Artists and on the options tab set Part of a compilation to Yes. See Grouping tracks into albums for details.

    Thank you.
And another question if the data is already there in the child table if i try to load alone it must delete the old data in the child tablee and need to get load the new data and
    How to do this ?
    Arunraj Kumar
You can do that with an IF EXISTS condition
    IF EXISTS (SELECT 1
    FROM YourChildTable c
    INNER JOIn @temptable t
    ON c.Bkey1 = t.Bkey1
    AND c.Bkey2 = t.Bkey2
    DELETE t
    FROM YourChildTable c
    INNER JOIn @temptable t
    ON c.Bkey1 = t.Bkey1
    AND c.Bkey2 = t.Bkey2
    INSERT INTO YourChildTable
where Bkey1,Bkey2 etc forms the business key of the table

Mmmm, try checking for available downloads from the store menu, if that doesn't help, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

There are several nice programs that can help you figure out what's on your computer - OmniDiskSweep, WhatSize, and DaisyDisk are the three I like. If you've had your computer for a while - and especially if this isn't your first Mac and you've been migrating from one computer to another, one of these programs can help you find files you didn't know your computer still had. For example, when I was trying to shed files to fit int a 256GB SSD, I discovered I had nearly 1GB of files in my Application Support folder belonging to programs I no longer used.
Other than that, your easy choice are music, video, and photos. They tend to be the big files. A movie will generally be at least 1.25GB, for example.

When I open iPhoto 9.2.1 it says that my library needs to be upgraded but when I upgrade the library I am trying to open (33 GB worth of pictures from 2006) the new application says it cannot read the files and how to find them on the system to reimport?! and then I'd like to erase the original files since the space requirement is huge!!!! Why is upgrading software iPhoto such a pain. I've gotta get a presentation done and all I get for my money is roadblock!!!

hello, it sounds like the library is damaged.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
